Overaccomodating and lowest-key clingy Winter is fantastic.
Would winter actually cuddle with her one night stands or throw them out immediately?
Adult Winter seems like the type to be REALLY into compartmentalizing and keep different aspects of her life separate, so she’d never take a one night stands back to her place. So probably a hotel so she could leave whenever.
Young Winter would probably revel in her freedom outside the manor and the thought of ‘defiling’ her family name in secret. She does bring her one night stands to her dorm but would def kick them out after. And leave them ass naked in the hall if they tried to break their agreement and stay longer than nessessary.

Against all odds, they bond over their shared past, goals, and maybe even find comfort in each other when emotions run high
You are describing my perfect version of the best Silent Knight AU timeline. Neo was already on her vendetta on Cinder. And a quick explanation by Ruby that it was a Grimm that killed him would only strengthen her resolve. And make a nice new hatred towards Grimm in time to help RNJR fight the Nuckelavee.
Bonus points if Neo catches Jaune training alone in the woods and confronts him. After hearing him out, Neo suggests she help Jaune train late at night.
Then at Haven, I think Neo really could have helped Jaune break out of his fatalistic drive to fight Cinder. He was ready to kill her or be killed. But after Weiss gets hurt and Cinder escapes, I think Neo and Jaune would have AMPLE time to talk about their trauma and feelings.
Can you imagine RNJR meeting Neo again after Beacon and seeing her in her torn up clothes, damaged parasol, and bowler hat? And while everyone else gears up to fight her Jaune just stares at her hat while he holds onto Pyrrha’s sash???

I was gonna joke Pyrrha might have them, for this exact reason. She toys with them using her semblance. Often when she studies or trains with Jaune.

It’s interesting to watch people scramble for excuses for Rhodes so much that it somehow pushes back on young Cinder for actually daring to rise up against her abusers.
They’d rather blame a child for her circumstances and her tragic past than a grown adult who failed to be a protector. “Cinder shouldn’t have done this. Cinder should have run away/taken the collar off on her own/reported her treatment to the authorities.”

Would Jaune even attack Oscar if Pyrrha survived though?
Most of Jaune’s animosity for Ozpin and his group seemed to come from Jaune reading the whole Maiden thing as a sort-of guilt-trip Pyrrha got stuck in.
I might be remembering wrong though.
I still firmly believe that Pyrrha would've come to adore Oscar if she'd lived long enough to meet him. I can picture her mothering him so badly, concerned about whether he's getting his vitamins and nutrients, or if he's getting enough sleep, or if he's homesick... *sigh* I miss her.
Oh, she definitely would be a member, if not the leader, of OPPS, dear anon. I wonder how would that work with Nora's personality? I've seen people viewing her as his "mom" or "sister" and I can't really choose which one is better XD
I think Pyrrha would also treat Oscar similarly to Jaune in v1-3 - provide mental support, train with him, protect if necessary etc. Not to mention Pyrrha being alive would change sooo many things. We can only speculate about what would go differently. And I can certainly picture Oscar looking up to her.
I miss Pyrrha too, dear anon. She was a sweet character and it would be fun to see her saving the world with her friends. Now the only thing we have left is letting her rest and move forward.

Then they have to trek an indeterminate distance together to get to the evacuation point back at Beacon or back to Vale. Jaune wouldn’t have a clue who she is at this point in canon, I think?
Feels and bonding would happen, I have no idea what would happen once they were wherever they wanted to go though...

We’re going to find out that Schnee Manor can detach from Atlas and fly under it’s own power.
Whitley will land it near the crater long enough to get the Mantle refugees on board, and so we can have a tower defense episode.
Winter and the defection squad will defend it from the air until they crashland in Willow’s depression-garden.
Ironwood will be one of the only people on Atlas when Salem gets there.
Theory.
The Schnee Family mansion could become a sanctuary for the people of Atlas fleeing Salem
Look at the size of it. Look at the towers in the foreground and back ground. Assuming the Schnee's like to keep their mansion architecture symmetrical, the Mansion is as possibley wide as it is long. If not a huge square block.
I don't doubt for a second that the Schnee Mansion has its own security system that can run on generators in case of a power outage. It may even have its own hard light shield. Something to be expected of a company that not only produces hard light dust but the technology to use it.
And my other theory is it won't be Weiss who instigated it, but...

Whitley is very lonely. He's also seeing that the army cannot do what huntsmen can. He has the resources at his disposal.

A Thought: Jaune and Cinder end up having another throwdown, Neo sees Jaune getting some hits in and is so done with Cinder she switches teams on the spot, we get Silent Knight vs. Cinder. Neo may or may not follow Jaune away from Atlas like a stray cat after.
When I first started my fic, the biggest question I had to answer was how they would start to work together and move past just being on different sides. This is pretty similar to one of my early ideas but I thought it might be more difficult, from a story telling perspective.
But
Pyrrha Nikos was an international prodigy and celebrity. Neo and Roman might have been living in warehouses but they had scrolls. Neo knows who Pyrrha was. Not to mention Neo participated in the Vytal Festival. She saw Pyrrha and Jaune together during the JNPR fight.
So when Jaune confronts Cinder again for the third time, and Cinder brings up killing Pyrrha and nearly killing Weiss, Neo could put the pieces together. She would notice the sash too, which was so characteristically Pyrrha’s. In a single moment Neo would understand all the reasons Jaune fights and who he’s fighting for. And who they could both fight against.
Ever since the fall of Beacon, Neo has been after one goal: revenge. With that goal achieved, she wouldn’t know what to do with herself. Vale is largely trashed after Beacon fell. Atlas is under high alert, Mantle is about to be overrun, and Vacuo is a desert miles away. Her choices are either fly back to Mistral and try to make her way in life, or stick it out with the only person in Remnant who can understand her, communication barrier or no
What if we get Cinder using polarity, or hints of it, some shot where you can see metal panels shifting in the background?
Well with another Maiden fight at Amity, we may be seeing the retirement of the Pyre theory soon.
I’d like to imagine this being the first time most of them have heard Neo speak.
