They are all seated in the auditorium as the newly appointed Headmistress Goodwitch takes the podium.*

Glynda: Good Afternoon everyone, I know for many today may not be such a good day. Today we are here to commemorate the death of Ruby Rose and Jaune Arc, two of Remnant’s greatest heroes. They sacrificed their lives today precisely one year ago at the final battle against Salem. *The Audience saw that Glynda took a moment to compose herself. Those who knew Goodwitch always aware that she cherished her students very much. After the Fall of Beacon, she had to count the amount of students had been slain by Grimm, Atlesian Knights and White Fang Insurgents. It was difficult for her to keep her emotions hidden at times but kept a strong front for many years, but she wasn’t perfect. As she recomposes herself she continues.*

*With that the tarp is removes and showcases a statue of Jaune and Ruby together in similar poses to the statue at the front of the school. Behind it is a large marble wall to serve as a memorial to those who had fallen at the fall of Beacon and its reclamation.*

*The group gathered are so preoccupied with the commemoration to notice that the main doors opened and someone walking through. At the stage, Oscar Pine prepares to say his own words.*

Oscar: I hadn’t known Ruby and Jaune as long as many here, but they have had a profound impact on my life. They encouraged me when I was pretty much thrusted into a conflict I was gradually unprepared for. But they were there for me and I will always be grateful to them. Ruby…Jaune if you can hear us, we miss you and we hope you two are in peace.

*The person walk towards the group, while everyone is too busy to focus on the new guest. At this point Weiss Schnee has taken the platform.*

Weiss: Ruby was my partner and team leader but more importantly than that she was my friend and sister in arms. I can’t say we started out that way, I constantly butted heads with her and wasn’t the best teammate at first. As time continued, I saw her for the qualities that made her a great leader and a powerful huntress. But she is more than that…she’s my best friend. Who I miss every day.

*The person stops to take a seat behind everyone else and waits until the event is almost completely done.*

Yang: That was great Weiss, thank you for saying that.

Weiss: I meant every word, I….I just wish Ruby and Jaune were still with us. ‘Sniff, sniff’

*Everyone in attendance does a double take and looks to her right to see her ‘deceased’ half sister right next to her with a box of tissues. One of which she uses herself.*

Jaune: Ruby, there you are I was looking all over for you! Man you won’t believe how rude these new guards are. Barely let me in here without a fight.

Ruby: Hehehe. Sorry Jaune! I just got so excited to see everyone again that I guess I forgot to wait for you.

Good points on all fronts. A ton of people say Jaune should have a sidearm, but it just works better if it has an emotional meaning instead of just a practical one. It would be cute if Neo gave Jaune a little boot knife or something.

For Neo, if you were restarting it tomorrow, I’d say to just have her grab a spare cane of Roman’s, or spare parts? Have her rebuild it into a heavy derringer or flintlock thing, would suit her aesthetic more.

I have a question or rather a wish for a secondary weapon for jaune from volume 1 practically ... so if jaune and neo are together I couldn't teach him to use something like a dagger or a hidden weapon in his clothes something like the hidden dagger by assasincred (or whatever you type) or a pistol like the RK5 from COD

I agree Jaune could use some kind of variable attacks. Once I started writing for the characters, I realized how limited he can be. However, Jaune’s weapons have followed his character growth pretty well. 

Vol 1-3, Jaune began with the hand-me-down that his great great grandfather used to ‘fight in the war’ because he didn’t go to a combat school to make his own weapon. He faked his way into Beacon. He had to fake his weapon too, and probably snagged the one thing on the wall he could use. 

Vol 4-6, Jaune uses Miló and Akoūo to reinforce his shield and armor. The weapon can now become a longsword, focusing all of his defense into an offensive weapon. Why? Because he didn’t care about what happened to himself anymore, he cared about fighting Cinder again. He even says in the Vol 5 finale that his life didn’t matter anymore. 

Vol 7-8, we see Jaune shift away from offense (after his talk at Pyrrha’s statue with her mother) and focus on leading his team and defense. His shield can now cover 3 people easily, the gravity dust can repel anyone who gets close, and the shield grenade can protect the people he cares about that he can’t reach in time. 

If anything, I feel like Jaune might take Vine’s suggestion in extending his aura into his weapons. One possibility being what Qrow does. We saw in Vol 4 that Qrow can swing his sword at Tyrian and a building a dozen yards away loses its roof. And those gusts of air as Jaune swung his sword to Pyrrha’s videos might be the start of that

As for Neo  There’s this scene in my fic where she and Jaune go to meet Lil’ Miss Malachite. In my original version, Neo buys an ice dust pistol from her, expecting to have to deal with Cinder’s fire attacks. While expanding her range considerably, it didn’t feel right for her character. I’ve been considering incorporating a dust launcher like Roman had to her repertoire but we’ll see what Atlas has in store for her

Councilman Arc: Jaune begins to call out Atlas on its treatment of Mantle and the parasitic nature of the relationship as Atlas rarely shares anything that they can’t rip away in an instant. This forces Atlas to better their treatment of Mantle and leads to the Happy Huntresses wanting to show Jaune just how happy he’s made them.

One visit was all it took. His very first travel to Atlas, as part of diplomatic relations. All he wanted was to visit Mantle once, to see it. Some of the politician said that there was not much to see.

Jaune saw enough.

He realized just how dependent Atlas was of Mantle. They relied on the city below on just about anything. And how were they repaid? With scorn.

Scorn, ridicule and even more corruption.

Jaune forced their hand. He informed Ironwood that the ill treament of Mantle was attracting Grimm and would cause a catastrophe in the long run.

Hence, the support for Mantle was enforced. Ironwood gained some support among Mantle for the move, even if some Atlas dwellers accused the man of kowtowing to a youngling beginner in the great game of politics.

Ironwood was no politician, however, so he could give a fuck.

Added bonus for Jaune was that his efforts did not go unnoticed by a certain group within Mantle. The Happy Huntresses were a volunteer group that was thinning out Grimm beyond the walls of Mantle, thus supporting the sparse military presence up to the reforms allocating resources for it.

The blonde received...a gift basket.
