Jaune took in a deep breath after that long explanation. “I’m not sure if they liked them or not, but I figured holidays are a good day to bond with others. I thought it couldn’t hurt to get them something. I even got something for Specialist Schnee, maybe it’ll help her warm up to me more.” 

Jaune’s eyes shot open in realization. “Oh crap that reminds me! I still have to give it to her!” Jaune ran off without another word, rushing off to find Winter to give her her own chocolates and a voucher for a full trip to a spa in Atlas.

I’ve always loved a theory I saw that the vault isn’t even in Beacon either.

It’s in the Emerald Forest Ruin.

There’s some logic to support this, but it isn’t concrete:

The relic of choice getting hidden right under the spot where where partnered students choose their teammates.

The relic draws grim to it. The forest has more grim than we ever saw in the wild in Anima, for instance. But it would be regularly cleared out by students training in it.

The forest is wired up with cameras, supposedly just to monitor initiation, but Grimm Eclipse up and calls it a security system.

It’s not perfect, but I do love the idea.

Beacon’s Vault

So we know that the Relic of Choice is hidden differently to other relics, but I think I may have an idea on whereabouts it may be, or at least the door to it.

There’s a lot we can discern from the Vault under Haven Academy and later Atlas Academy. Each Vault is accessible via a tall, thin trapezium door which is unlocked by the touch of a maiden.

The Spring Vault is that of a dreamlike desert landscape, a single biome that stretches to the Horizon - a pocket dimension of sorts. The fact that it is a desert is to make it abundantly clear that this is not part of Haven, nor even Mistral.

I would say it’s easiest to assume that Atlas and Vacuo’s vaults have similarly contrasting biomes to the kingdoms they’re housed in - for example, Atlas’s may be a green forest, while Vacuo’s might be comprised of waterfalls and lakes. Being magical, these vaults probably aren’t beholden to the whims of time and therefore likely stay as they are, year around.

You’re probably wondering where I’m going with this.

Each vault is an almost unnatural biome.

Each vault stands out against its home kingdom.

The vaults probably don’t change based on natural-world time.

Now where have we seen something like that around Beacon?

Oh yeah, Forever Fall.

There’s a place in Vale that is noted to literally be always Fall. Not beholden to the passage of seasons or time, for no particular explained reason. (Unless…)

Volume 3 shows us fall, and its trees aren’t as bright red as Forever Fall’s are - they’re a more natural orange. Volume 1 makes a point of showing us this place twice, once in the Black Trailer and again in the Jaunedice arc, and yet never explains why it’s how it is. Jaunedice could have just as easily (if not more easily due to budget) occurred in the Emerald Forest again. But they choice to show us Forever Fall.

I’m not sure whether Beacon’s vault is located in Forever Fall, or if it is Forever Fall, or if it’s even goddamn open already and has leaked out into Forever Fall, but it’s something to do with goddamn Forever Fall.

This is what I want from a Team STRQ prequel, this is all I want.

Just give us four sets of like six or eight episodes each, summarizing them going through Beacon. Leave the drama out, I just want the action and hijinks.

Do you think Raven always assumed she was going to be tribe leader, and similar to Weiss took offense to Summer being chosen as leader over her, because she felt like she was meant for the leadership role? Except, unlike Weiss approaching Port and just inquiring about it normally, Raven was super salty and extra about it and snuck into Ozpin's office, so as to confront him when he walks in, swivelling round in his own chair like "So, Professor Ozpin. I'd like to discuss you reconsidering the leader for team STRQ" Or just straight up trying to sneak up and fight him to prove herself as a strong and worthy leader.

And Oz for a while not actually giving her an straight answer and just sort of going with it because it's infinitely entertaining and good training.

the first time raven sneaks into ozpin’s office, she overshoots the chair turn completely. she’s never actually sat on a chair that swivels like that before and uses way too much force. she recovers pretty quickly, but it doesn’t go unnoticed by ozpin who’s really trying to keep his face neutral and not smile.

raven’s never been good at making convincing arguments, so obviously, it didn’t work. so sneak attacks it is. every other student and even some of the teachers are flabbergasted because you can’t just attack The Headmaster like that, but ozpin’s just like “good morning miss branwen :) i believe your first class of the day is on the opposite side of the campus :)” in the middle of their little fight.

when none of this works, raven turns to looking for information about ozpin. for blackmail reasons. totally something that a leader would do, if you ask her.

she doesn’t find much, other than the mystery of “what is ozpin drinking from his mug”. it’s not coffee, and it’s not tea, that much she knows. her whole plan of blackmailing him is ruined when ozpin just. straight up tells her that it’s hot chocolate. and raven would be much saltier about it if she wasn’t also curious of finding out what the hell hot chocolate even is, and not knowing what hot chocolate is? that’s not something ozpin can stand for.

so the next time raven sneaks into ozpin’s office, ozpin’s ready and he has hot chocolate prepared. and raven would be extra salty, because how dare he know she was coming, but also how dare this drink be so good. so she can’t stay that mad for long, but by gods she tries.

ozpin eventually gives her an straight answer... probably. but by the time that happens, raven has completely forgotten what this all was originally about, that’s how sidetracked she got. the message is still received, sure, and if anyone asks?

raven has never snuck into ozpin’s office for hot chocolate. that has never happened, and she certainly didn’t keep sneaking in after the first time just for that reason. nope, no sir.

I tend to be a crackshipper to my core, I think any ship can sail if it’s built up right. But even I don’t like everything.

I can respect other people’s tastes, I don’t think I’ve tossed Cinder in when talking to you, but I’ll try not to in the future.

Cinder is a believable, interesting villain with an understandably traumatic childhood. But…

You’d think as a SilentKnight shipper I’d be open to Cinder shipping but that’s a hard pass for me

I know she was justified in all of the pre-Vol.1 things Cinder did / went through, but killing Amber, Pyrrha, and a random woman just for her clothes and money in Vol.6 really hinder that redemption arc for me

I’m not against Cinder righting her wrongs, but, I especially don’t love her being shipped with Jaune, right after she killed Pyrrha and traumatized him continuously at Haven

Councilman Arc AU: I wonder if another faunus, or a vampire, or a grimm queen, could smell Jaune and Deery on each other... Deery might know how to cover it up, but would Jaune be able to tell if he still had a symbolic 'Deery was here' sign on his back?

Okay @tsundere-bellwether has me wanting to work on this Redemption AU where Cinder’s a maiden on the run, doing good in the shadows. However, somewhere around Mistral, she comes across an orphanage similar to the one she was from before she was brought to Atlas and after scoping the place out a bit, she finds it’s a human trafficking ring. Particularly, it collects promising children who have gifted semblances.

So Cinder, noticing the town that houses the orphanage is turning a blind eye to the suffering of children, burns the place down and frees about sixteen orphans. However she knows they can’t stay safely in a corrupted town, so she tracks down Jaune and forces him to help her find the children suitable homes (despite her judgmental attitude towards anyone willing to adopt said children).

So Jaune just shows up one night at his apartment after a day of heroic huntsman work to his home stuffed with children running around everywhere and a very tired Maiden on his couch.

I always preferred Armored Sundae.

Willow is feeling distressed because Bad Day and maybe a panic attack or something ? I can see her having those when she first gets the SDC back and has to learn how to run it while trying to stay sober and she'll just feel so much pressure on her it'll make it hard to breathe. Anyway, panic attack when she's all alone and no one can help but SUDDENLY a portal opens and out comes Raven, all worried and stuff and Raven helps Willow calm down and then it hits Willow.

Raven has a portal to her.

They have a bond.

Something Raven can only develop with people she cares about deeply.

Which means she cares about Willow deeply.

She cares about Willow for who she is, not her family name.

And all of a sudden, Willow feels like a weight has been lifted off of her shoulders and she can breathe more easily.

And the future looks just a little bit brighter.

I always thought that. Like in the v3 intro it shows Ruby fighting Cinder (makes sense, they’ve fought in the show), Blake fighting Adam (makes sense, they’ve fought in the show), Yang fighting Mercury (makes sense, they’ve fought in the show), and...Weiss fighting Emerald? That fight has never happened.

I might be in the minority where I hope none of the ‘main girls’ become Maidens.

Ever since it was introduced Maidenhood has screamed ‘more trouble than it’s worth’ to me. You get a bit of a power boost but you still lose fights, and everyone now wants to find or fight you. You end up a over-pressured and paranoid mess.

Penny, honestly, was the one exception they could have convinced me on, it serves her arc in a way they couldn’t do most other ways, and they handled it’s effects well, through Fria’s choice through this episode.

It also seems a bit too obvious? Nora less so because the most obvious would be Team RWBY all getting magic.

Can we leave the Winter maiden Nora theory in V7 where it died? Y'all are really hoping Penny dies just so your personal fav can get a power up.

Penny's not dying again, she's already a real girl, and her arc would make no sense if she lost the powers. She'd be running from her conflict, not resolving it.

Nora already has an arc about identity issues and giving her the responsibilities of a maiden would make that worse. Let her figure out who she is as an individual.

If you’ll excuse some hopeful guesswork. What do you do when you have an infection or parasite? You get a fever to burn it out.

Seriously, Cinder can outright incinerate people and make glass from dirt and I’m meant to believe the Grimm arm that can get sliced off with a sword will be an overwhelming issue once Cinder realized she should want it gone?

Even if they want to play it so she can’t handle it all alone, if the arm can pull that Midnight stuff and keep her from getting rid of it completely, I’d still peg it as Cinder being able to resist it overtaking her. She might be the only person able to resist so directly.

And them we can see Cinder learning to ask for help and we can get the Ruby/Cinder/Jaune scene we need.

But yeah, that’s just my hopeful thinking...

Feeling somewhat satisfied that I called the “Grimmified Cinder” stuff but also sad knowing she’ll probably go Grimm at the end of Vol 8 and it will probably take forever to turn her back. Also turning her back will likely result in her death. Sadness.

Penny already defected, and has essentially been fighting without a dedicated team or partner ever since. Of course, she may regain her former partner very soon, when/if Winter defects.

Then we have Emerald, who is almost definitely about to defect, and who has just been split up from her former partner.

And she may even be joined by Neo, who’s been looking equally uncomfy with her situation of late. Which could give us four newly minted heroes in need of a team to call their own...

Anyway what I’m saying is there is a golden opportunity for the v8 defection squad to get together and form team WEPN (weapon).

Because really.. can you imagine how terrifyingly intense they would be together??

They’d just be one big bundle of severe emotional trauma wrapped in a desperate need to feel useful... <3

Team RASN: I know you said Jaune was likely to carry-bang whichever teammate(s) he ends up with, but at this point it seems more likely he's gonna sisterzone them and end up with Yang or something. It seems like the smol girls will have to make the first move.

Indeed it seems so, but Yang and Jaune are friends.
