Emerald rushed over to Yang, shaking as she checked over the blonde. She had watched her be fished out of the grimm river and could already see a bit of a change happening to her. “Come on Yang, get back up! You can die now! Not while you still need to get Oscar!” 

Yang coughed as a bit of grimm goo came out of her mouth, slowly starting to get up. “T-that worried about me?” 

Emerald pulled Yang into a kiss. “Oh thank the gods you’re alive.” She pulled back and slapped her. “You could’ve died doing that!” 

Yang smiled and rubbed her cheek a bit. “It was worth it for a kiss from you.” 

“Unbelievable! You should’ve just let me die instead of risking your life for me!” Emerald’s frowned slowly changed to a smile. “Thank you though. I… I owe you.” 

Yang shook her head, looking her body over as she saw portions of her looking grimm like. “Let’s… get out of here. I need to figure out how to fix myself.”

Councilman Arc AU: Juniper Arc had dealt with plenty of trouble caused by her eight children, but honestly, how is she meant to handle the first lady of Menagerie calling her up hoping to sneak a marriage arrangement over their children's heads?

Mama Arc had to deal with a lot of things over her life, particularly ever since she became a mother. The shenanigans of her children, worrying about her only son, especially once he all but fell into his role as councilman of Vale.

She could take solace that Salem promised her she would take care of him, that he would not be harmed.

Though she was not quite prepared for a call from Menagerie, from Kali Belladonna, no less!

“Ah, Mrs Arc, I presume,” the cat lady greeted her jovially, a twinkle in her amber eyes.

“Hello, Mrs Belladonna,” the mother of eight barely got out, blindsided and barely prepared for this. “To what do I owe the pleasure?”

“Just call me Kali! And...well, I wanted to know if your son is single right now.”

Now the woman was alarmed. What did she want with her son?? “Yes, he is, but why do you ask?”

“I have a daughter. Single as well.”

Ah, that was a relie- wait.

“Are you suggesting what I think you are suggesting?”

“Maybe?” the First Lady of Menagerie replied playfully. “I do want to set the two up for a date.”

Mrs Arc was still suspicious. “For what reason?”

“Can you imagine the grandkitties?”

“You and I will get along ju~st fine,” the matriArc laughed.

I’ll break the mold here and say Ilia/Neo. It can be a play on ‘rocky road’.

It was suggested that I make this its own post. I'm still not sure which ship would be named Rainbow Road though.

What if...

Jaune ends up with one of Ironwood’s fuck-off big pistols.

Either Ironwood dies and Jaune just ends up picking it up, or he steals it during some future confrontation. Some payback strike for Oscar or whatever.

Hell, according to the wiki, Ironwood lost the other one of the set in the Amity Colosseum and never got it back.

A lot of people are guessing Amity is gonna be the protag’s V8 ‘base’, he could just find it there.

Ruby: jaune i think you should get a gun

Ruby masters the ‘molecular level’ of her semblance but mostly uses it so she doesn’t have to redo her corset laces and buckles every day.

Jaune: fuck.

The further I read this, the more I headcanoned that ‘Mysterious Chessmaster Ozpin’ is a front that he puts on for literally anyone who isn’t his own staff or students.

From the interrogation room through initiation, he was gritting his teeth to keep all the Dad Energy from escaping.

He brought a goddamn plate of cookies the first time he ever talked to Ruby, probably just because Summer said how much she loved them at some point, it was probably Summer’s recipe.

Glynda came to show him how fake Jaune’s transcripts were and he probably tapped his mug on ‘Accept’ before she got two words out.

He let two teenage bandits enroll in his fight college to try to reform them.

People used to joke about it, but he probably does just wander the school looking for students who look troubled. He is/was a father, and now he has dozens of youths he is explicitly responsible for, many of whom are orphans. You cannot stop this guy giving guidance.

Ozpin keeps up the ‘Wizard’ act for the council, the citizens, and any of the applicants who aren’t students yet. Even other headmasters and their students, maybe. All to keep his dramatic image and his position as Headmaster. All so he can keep helping good kids be better so they can save the world.

I really love your idea of Uncle Oz. But in the early volumes, Ozpin was given the 'menacing, plotting' Dumbledore treatment. Which is weird, because by the time we have the backstory he's just genuinely a caring, wonderful person in an awful situation. Which is also weird, because the hands-off man we know doesn't map to the idea of who the guy must have been to set up the school in the first place. Oz seems like the prime example of the show actively not always knowing where it's going.

Especially since, looking back, I honestly believe that the vast majority of said “menacing, plotting Dumbledore treatment” came from viewer expectation and very little was built into the text. Meaning, this is the Harry Potter era watching a new show. We see an older, white, clearly powerful, somewhat eccentric headmaster and go, “AH HA. I know where this is heading,” even though canonically Ozpin barely does anything to generate those feelings in the story. I’ll admit the “You have silver eyes” line is easily the most damning - What does that mean?? What does he want with Ruby??? - and we have the moment where Yang comments that he’s “off” during the speech, but both of these things happen within the first few episodes. Following that, Ozpin’s mysterious/manipulative persona is obliterated. Not just through all the legitimately good things we see him doing (counseling Ruby, talking to Blake, bending rules to help deal with the White Fang, etc.) because admittedly that all could have still been a part of some larger manipulation. AKA, Ozpin is grooming this group to do his dirty work like Dumbledore groomed Harry. But that reveal never comes. Instead, Ozpin encourages the group to leave if it’s not their own, active decision to help. He doesn’t manipulate people into working for him, he deliberately discourages anyone with doubts from continuing on because doubts, as we’ve seen, lead to people betraying the cause. Just as importantly, the ‘shady headmaster’ persona fails because we learn what his secret is. What’s Ozpin hiding? The fact that there’s a war on. What’s he doing about that? Something nefarious or at least ethically dubious? Uh... no. Actually he’s just doing the best he can with limited options. It’s like if in Prisoner of Azkaban we got to follow Dumbledore’s perspective for multiple chapters, learned pretty much all there is to know about the war, and likewise confirmed that Dumbledore was never attempting something as horrible as raising a kid for slaughter.

Really, the text only starts treating Ozpin as legitimately shady around Volume 5 with the whole bird transformation stuff, which as we’ve discussed was just stupid. Then it was hinted that he had some other, terrible secret hidden away, we waited a whole volume to find out what it was... and then it wasn’t terrible at all. Salem is immortal? Anyone who thinks about this war for five minutes can figure that out. Is it Ozpin’s fault that Salem is immortal and trying to kill us all? Uh... no. No it’s not. So... why was he supposed to be shady again?

Civilian: Please! If you were to help my family you'd be handsomely rewarded!

Jaune: please sir...my friends need me, I can't delay them any longer.

Civilian: I come from a wealthy family, we can give you money or land!

Jaune: This is more important then money or land!

RWBYNR: Yeah!

Civilian: ...if you help me I'll introduce yiu to my wife's beautiful sister...she has a thing for tall blonde knights.

Jaune: ...

Yang: As if Lady Killer could be persuaded by that when he has (gestures to herself and all the other girls) right Jaune?

Jaune: ...right!

Civilian: she's got bigger tiddies then all of them. *point to team RWBY*

Jaune: *pulls out Crocea Mors* Tiddies it is!

RWBY: JAUNE!

Nora, sniffling: that's my fearless leader.

Ren: truly a man of culture.

Jaune "Ready to die for anybody" Arc and Winter "Scared to die for everybody' Schnee. IDK how to make it shippy but I thought it was a neat parallel.

jaune's martyr complex mixed with winter's self presverations. winter shows jaune that he doesnt have to be the scapegoat and jaune shows winter its okay to be vunerable

Jaune and Neo fight, Neo is winning until Jaune traps her in a bear-hug. Jaune doesn't know what to do at that point because if he lets go she'll just be start winning or escape again, so he just turns on his heel and starts running with Neo squirming to get free. That's what everyone sees when they get to Schnee Manor. Neo is 'captured', but oddly cozy.

Jaune helps Oscar stand up as Neo comes running around a corner, looking for the exit. The three of them stare at each other for a moment. 

Jaune: “I don’t have the aura or the time to fight you The AceOps are about to detonate a bomb and take this whole place out” 

Neo, not believing him, brandishes Hush

Jaune knows he can’t leave without the Relic. They fight for a few moments. It seems like Neo could win until Jaune grabs her in a tight hug. 

Neither of them know what to do for a moment until Oscar yells at them to run. 

[Later]

Jaune and Oscar arrive at the front line of the Atlesian trenches. RNBW had come out to meet RYE already.

Jaune crosses the battlefield and walks up to Yang: “Oscar, and the Relic” Calling back to her questions the night before. He had finally gotten them both back

Neo gave up struggling after the bomb detonated. The knight had been telling the truth. But as long as she didn’t let go of the Relic, he didn’t let go of her. 

Yang: “So, everyone is just okay with this?”

Weiss, sitting on her staircase. Her home was slowly turning into a refugee camp: “I say we take the win...”
