I thought a lot lately what a Wicked x Xiaolin Showdown crossover would actually look like. If Chase is Elphaba, I imagine he'd have dragon features, maybe green dragon scales, so the green elixir Elphaba's Mom drank would be the Lao Mang Lone soup. Maybe he's a human-dragon hybrid, and he faces discrimination like all the other talking animals of Oz, then during Defying Gravity he finally embraces his full dragon form.
And that would make him the Wicked Dragon of the West.
Wait.
Anyways, Dashi would obviously be Fiyero, as a platonic common friend to both Chase and Guan, who's sort of stuck in the middle. Their personalities simply match too well.
Dojo would be Doctor Dillamond. When he gets taken away, Dashi drops his careless act and becomes an advocate for mystical creatures, trying to keep Chase safe in the process.
The Wizard of Oz is Jack, a young inventor who crash landed his jet into Oz, or his heli-pack was carried away by the wind, and everyone in Oz was so impressed with his mechanical creations they thought he had mad power. But Hanibal is really the master evil mind who secretly controls Jack.
Omi is the Cowardly Lion, except he's the Fierce Little Lion. You know, the Lion's whole deal was that he was big and fierce-looking but really a scaredy cat, so I thought it would be fun for Omi to be the exact opposite.
Kimiko is Dorothy and she really just wants to go back to Tokyo and her dad. In the original Wizard of Oz book Dorothy was much tougher than the movie and more resourceful, so I think it fits.
Clay can be the Scarecrow. I want him to be his own character because I really liked him in the book. He was the voice of reason amongst his friends. Also, yeah, he comes from a farm. Dashi can just come back as a ghost during the final act, I suppose.
And then there's Raimundo as the Tinman. We all know he's got a big heart under the cool exterior.
That leaves Nessarose, and just hear me out, trust me on this one. Nessa is Katnapee. She was born disabled and both her and Chase were abandoned by their parents for their "deformities" (they can be different parents, they don't have to be related by blood) and left on the Xiaolin Temple's doorstep where they were more or less raised by Master Fung. Katnapee never gave a hoot about being in a wheelchair, and that thing can really gather speed, but she had always been jealous of Chase's animal features because she always wanted to be a cat, and not just wear a costume.
Master Fung doesn't necessarily have a favorite, he's equally distant to both of them, but he asked Chase to keep her out of trouble when they went to school because of Katnapee's mischievous tendencies.
When Chase tapped into his powers, he was able to turn her into a real panther. She still has her wheels like those for disabled cats or dogs, but she's having the time of her life.
No need for a romantic interest. Katnapee absolutely does not need a reason to go mad with power. Chase is half proud half terrified of the monster he's created, but he's too busy fighting the government with Dashi.
So anyway, this all sounds fun. I don't know if I'll ever be able to write a full fic around these concepts, but at least now I won't forget them.
Oh, also Wuya is Madame Morrible. This is an easy one.
No one:
Absolutely no one:
My brain the whole time watching Wicked:
*The Squad is eating dinner*
Dashi: Can you pass the salt?
Guan: *throws Chase across the table*
Dashi: Due to personal reasons, I will be sinking to the bottom of the ocean in a small puzzle box.
Chase: Did Wuya say 'I love you' and you said 'Thanks'?
Dashi: THE REASONS ARE PERSONAL–
Kimiko: What are you two arguing about this time?
Raimundo: He’s always using common phrases incorrectly!
Omi: Cry me a table, Raimundo!
Dashi: It was my idea. The responsibility is mine.
Guan: No. I'm the responsible one.
Chase: Guys, guys, you're both too valuable to risk. It should be someone expendable.
Chase: Like Dojo.
Dojo: *snaps his head up immediately*
Dojo: WHAT?!
What do you think Dojo did after Dashi's passing? With the whole original trio gone and the Shen Gong Wu all presumably hidden and dormant, did Dojo just take up permanent residence at the temple he's still at today and spend a few centuries mourning alone there? Or did Dojo go stay with the Northern Cho-Cho he said he descends from for a while?
I like to think Dojo stayed at the temple to watch over Dashi’s students, the first or one of the first generations of Dragons in training. Even though there were no Shen Gong Wu for them to retrieve, he probably had to fly them from place to place to fight the forces of evil, save villages, and stuff like that. He also had to guard the Ancient Scroll of the Shen Gong Wu as stated in the first episode.
But he must have tracked down his dragon relatives and visited them at some point. I mean fifteen thousand years is a long time. However, his closest family is the Xiaolin Monks and his home is the temple. The saddest part is imagining how many generations of Xiaolin Dragons he had watched grow only to have to say goodbye.
Out of all the Xiaolin monk boys, which one do you think would get the most distinctive reaction from Kimiko if she were to catch sight of him taking his shirt off?
Kimiko had seen all the guys shirtless before and had shown no reaction.
She'd probably be more interested with what they're wearing. Kimiko's a fashion icon, after all.
But I think she'd be quite impressed with Raimundo especially if he wore whatever was considered fashionable for guys in the early 2000s
One of the details I really liked in your story is how you mentioned that Wuya got that bright red shade of her hair with a spell! What did Wuya's hair used to look like?
Dark brown, straight and a little messy
Since I started getting asks about my Xiaolin Showdown fanfiction, I decided to post the link here in case anyone is curious about the context.
Here's the description and a little snippet from Chapter 2:
After traveling through time, Omi is more determined than ever to bring Chase Young back to the side of good. This makes Guan rethink certain things. Dojo tells the young monks the story of how Dashi, Chase, and Guan met when they were kids on their quest to control a hatchling Dojo, and how the first Shen Gong Wu was created.
"Oh, um, this is Dojo, my green water dragon. He’s my pet lizard." He fastened the last button on his shirt, only for Dojo to slip through his sleeve and climb back onto his shoulder.
"You can't fool me. I know a real dragon when I see one.”
Dashi blinked in surprise. "You… you do? How so?"
"He burned my tree."
Dashi looked down at his feet. "Ah, right.”
"I don't understand," said the kid, turning to the tea tree. "This shouldn't have happened, unless…" He whirled back to Dashi and there was a dark look on his face. "What did you do?"
"Wh-what?" Dashi couldn't understand how someone so small who made you want to pinch his cheeks, could make you feel even smaller. "Well, I put him in the furnace to make him hatch."
"You did WHAT?!" The kid dragged a hand across his face. "Do you have noodles for brains? You were supposed to put it in water! Dragons take the element they are presented with when they hatch. They are supposed to be benevolent water guardians!"
"How do you know all that?" Dashi asked suspiciously.
The kid bit his lip like someone realizing too late that he said something he shouldn't have said. He turned away from him and muttered, "I don't have to tell you."
How important to Omi is what good Chase said in the other timeline, when he asked Omi to promise to still not give up on changing Omi and Chase's futures together? How important was it to Chase when he said it? How do you think it'll affect their relationship going forward?
Chase from the other timeline seems to have been very close to Omi and the other dragons in training. He even paid his respect to Master Fung by bowing to his statue.
They had very little, but they were family. Chase saw how much the children were struggling and I think he wanted a better future for them.
This is why he was quick to sacrifice himself.
When he tells Omi not to give up on him, he's basically telling him that he wants to be a part of that future too.
I'm not sure how time travel and alternate timelines work, it's pretty confusing, but what I can gather is that Omi is the only one of the monks who remembers good Chase for who he was, and that's why bringing him back matters so much to him. Because if Omi were to forget him too, if he were to give up on him, then good Chase would be gone for good. Omi tries to remind present Chase who he once was or who he could be, to keep the memory of his old friend alive.
Have Jack and Wuya ever helped each other with their makeup? Or is each of them just doing their own makeup at the mirror together as close as they'll get to that?
I think they're both too particular about their make up to trust the other to help, but they give each other advice from time to time. It's their favorite bonding time besides plotting how to take over the world
If Grandmaster Dashi could see the current state of things, his old teammates Chase and Guan and Dojo, and the new dragons-in-training who inherited their duties, and he could say one thing about it, what do you think he'd say? What would his emotions be?
Oh, he'd probably be very proud of the dragons-in-training for already accomplishing so much in their short time, even if they screw things up sometimes. I think he would see a little bit of himself in each of them, especially in Raimundo and his quest to be a good leader while still getting at least ten hours of sleep. After all, you can't think straight if you're not well rested, can you? And he would surely like Clay's simplicity and modesty. After all, Dashi never wanted to be famous and used to keep a low profile and hang out with his piggie friends.
And Kimiko can be very creative with her tech. I imagine if he had been born in our era (or the early 2000s like in the show) Dashi would have been the same. He would totally capture Wuya in a Tamagotchi if he could and feed her things she doesn't like. I don't think Dashi has that much in common with Omi personality-wise, except maybe how they were raised at the Xiaolin temple, but canonically Dashi is really fond of the kid and I'm sure he'd smile at each of his achievements no matter how small or how big.
Out of all of them, I think he would be most proud of Dojo for taking care of the kids and carrying on his legacy. Chase's fate would sadden him, but he would still strive to see pieces of the old Chase in him. And he would tell Guan to take it easy, take a chill pill and try to live in the present for him.
Dashi would also be relieved that the kids stuck together even when their journey got rough. Like when Raimundo turned against them but came back in the end. And they freed Omi from Chase's spell whereas Dashi failed to reverse the effects of Hannibal's soup that turned Chase into a beast. I think it would bring him comfort knowing that the new dragons in training succeeded where he and his friends failed, that even though he and his friends fell apart, there's still hope for the future, and that his Shen Gong Wus are in good hands.
Dashi: We need a plan to beat them.
Chase: Okay, listen up. First, we fill their shoes with wet cat food.
Dashi:
Guan: Wait, is this why my sandals feel extra slippery?
Chase: Judge me all you want. I get results.
Jermaine: Are you tall enough to play basketball though?
Omi: Are you calling me short?
Jermaine: I'm calling you vertically challenged.
Hey, here's a random question, but if a water bender (regardless of the fandom) got stabbed or lost a limb or got scratched real bad, since blood plasma is over 90 percent water, could they technically prevent the blood from leaving their bodies, like add an invisible patch over their wound so they don't pass out or die of blood loss? Or is this not how the human body works?
And yes I know Katara could technically just heal herself with her water powers but that's beside the point.
Hey, very specific question, but does anyone know if Omi is vegetarian or not? I don't remember him eating meat in the show and I need it for a fanfiction
Jack: Hey, do you know the password to Kimiko’s computer?
Raimundo: Screw you, Jack.
Jack: Hey!!
Raimundo: No, you misunderstood, the password is “screwyoujack”.
Jack: Oh, no numbers? Not very safe.
Chase: *cooking*
Dashi: *kicks down door*
Dashi: *grabs knife from Chase’s hand*
Dashi: WHAT DID I TELL YOU ABOUT DESTRUCTIVE BEHAVIOR?
Chase:
Chase: What.
Dojo: He’s trying to tell you he wants to cook.
Dashi: Chase, keep an eye on Guan today. He’s going to say something to the wrong person and get punched.
Chase: Sure, I’d love to see Guan getting punched.
Dojo: Try again.
Chase, sighing: I will try to stop Guan from getting punched.
Dojo: Why are you two always out during rainstorms?
Chase: It’s so peaceful and refreshing. I like the smell of rain.
Dashi: Guan bet me I couldn’t get struck by lightning, but he’s WRONG.
