The past and the future don't exist. They literally don't exist.
What does exist is this thin sliver of a moment that we call now. Just now, wedged between a past and a future that aren't even real. I know this. I know this..
But tell me, why is the past so real in my dreams?
I woke up. Outside in the distance I heard roosters crowin̈g, and I remembered where I was. I felt my dreams vanishing into nowhere. Kind mercy.
Dim morning light gently poured in through the curtains casting gray shadows across our bed. I stretched out my legs and gave my entire body a deep stretch, squeezing out the last of the demons. I looked up at the clock. 5 am.
We sleep together on a huge bed. My wife and myself with our two young kids nestled in between us. Piled together. Filipino style.
I quietly made my way over to my wife's side of the bed and climbed in with her.
Early morning is our time.
Time is real. I know it is. But it plays with me.
Time is something that happens on the outside but on the inside. inside our minds, there is no time. On the inside there is only now.
Now, is eternity.
It's all we know.
Wedged in between a past and a future that aren't even real.

Oxford isn’t the oldest university, not by a long shot. India’s Nalanda University had already operated for hundreds of years and been burnt down by invaders before Oxford got its act together. But Oxford, as one of the oldest universities in continuous operation, doesn’t feel that old. It’s a product of our time. You can still enroll at Oxford. You can still go to Merton College.
The Aztec civilization of central Mexico, on the other hand, feels like ancient history. Archaeologists dig up Aztec ruins, museums put on Aztec exhibits. But the origination of the Aztec civilization, marked by the founding of the city of Tenochtitlán by the Mexica at Lake Texcoco, didn’t come until 1325. Tenochtitlán was captured by Spanish conquerors in 1521, just 196 years later. The White House has been standing longer than the Aztecs ruled Tenochtitlán.
None of this is intended to pit civilizations against each other. But it’s an interesting way to think about how skewed our understanding of history really is—we have these timelines in our heads that are distorted and compressed, and they don’t always agree with reality. To get a clearer picture of how the world really works, sometimes it helps to keep things in context.

Robert Muller Testimony
Today's Robert Muller testimony highlights a very complicated, a long-haul change in how news and all media are shared, expressed and consumed.
Both sides don't expect more to be said that has already been divulged in the report. But with the report being 400 pages and written as a legal document, it is confusing for those who do not have experience with law documents, that style of writing and that it is too long for the average American who is working and would need more background to understand the smaller details. Immediately 3% of the US was expected to read the Muller report based on Amazon sales, but buying something off Amazon is not the same as definitely reading the report and definitely not the entire report. Separately, understanding what is written is an entirely different arena. This brings us back to the overall shift in information (both fact and fiction) and the main purpose of today's hearing-- the idea is that those who cannot or aren't interested in all the nuances of the report, be told in a form they are used to so they may understand the majority and most crucial parts of Muller's research and findings.
Breaking the hearing up and preparing it to be recorded allows us to consume the information how we're most used to it, short clips marked to become viral. But is the official line in the sand, separating the previous time of detailed, historic and verified facts from news and stories that we won't bother with until they can be easily binged; did we cross that line long ago, and if we have crossed it--how soon until we regret it

All right, I’m not clean, proud nor happy about this but facts are true when we like them and when we don’t. These three films are brilliant (in my opinion), and I love them and while I will not purchase anything related to the man behind the shadows of these films, to not have them included in my favorites would be a lie—so I crammed them all together as films I wish were associated with someone else –and that’s all I can say on the matter as my alliance for these films still struggles.
The Curse of the Jade Scorpion
Way back when, my family (mostly my Dad and I) would watch two films on New Year’s Eve instead of just one, along with getting Chinese food for dinner. The Curse of the Jade Scorpion was one of the first ones, one we watched at least a second New Year’s Eve and is one of my favorite comedies. I have re-watched it many times and I always love it. Like its main character, it’s ridiculous and cartoon-like, perfectly matching the music that goes with it--like a live-action Bugs Bunny cartoon. Watching an investigator thump around and somehow, luckily solve the mystery—is preposterous, even more so than the romantic ending. But if you find to have similar taste as I do, which most don’t, this one will have you laugh out loud so much that your father starts to watch from another room.
Crimes and Misdemeanors
Please, please, hold the accurate screams for the stars of this film that escape from your body as if you are a stereotyped middle school girl from ten years ago that just saw Justin Bieber. Sam Waterson, Jerry Orbach (RIP) and Alan Alda—heaven and probably my main reasons for loving this film (in order) not just because it was them but because I saw a different character of them that I was more used to (thou not Alan Alda in this case, I agree he was schmucky). I would agree with other reviewers that it’s not exactly the suspense of what’s going to happen that fuels the story but what these ‘average’ people will do, how they will react and how the rest of their lives will be impacted. Except for Judah’s connection to hitman, and part of the story having a connection to the acting/film industry—the stories are all pretty common. People who are in unhappy marriages, people who have affairs; these stories are common. A lot of “coming of age” stories are about teenagers and young adults, but after 50 or so years sometimes we come to a new level of understanding of ourselves or a different realization than before and make different choices and we adapt again rising to a new challenge or falling below expectations—but which one was which
“And after the awful deed is done, he finds that he's plagued by deep-rooted guilt. Little sparks of his religious background which he'd rejected are suddenly stirred up. He hears his father's voice. He imagines that God is watching his every move. Suddenly, it's not an empty universe at all, but a just and moral one, and he's violated it.”
Match Point
Match Point really is just an extension of Crimes and Misdemeanors, the only larger change is that the ending result comes from a combination of the actions of the main character along with ‘fate’ as opposed to just dumb luck. Both main characters in Crimes and Misdemeanors and Match Point show that with real consequences, the choices you make are different than what you think they would be; but also how your worst choices show your true character because even thou both Judah and Tom both felt extreme guilt….they got over it pretty quickly

i want to put the time system that I wrote for my world because I really like it.
The humans of the world center their dating system around the day that Atron Ojan won the war against the elves, uniting most of humanity with him into the 'Ojalana Empire'. They put the founding of the Ojalana Empire as the first day of year zero.
They mostly break down the years into 4 seasons based on the periodic rising and falling of the Xultan (ecks-ul-tan)
Seasons are not equal in time, the stable levels last longer than the periods of rising and falling
(Agorophillic) marked when the Xultan river starts to rise from its lowest level to its highest. It is characterized by colder temperatures and strong winds that could bring storms. Lasts for 3 months this is also when the Mer have their annual migration from the Cristlyn ocean to the Honist ocean
(Agorosill) marked when the river stabilizes at it’s high level, lasts for 6 months, cold dry weather marks this time
(Deciphillic) marked by the river starting to fall from its highest point to its lowest point. Very rainy with windy days and warm weather. Lasts for 3 months this is when the mer migrate back to the Cristlyn ocean
(Decisill) low stability/ marked by the river stabilizing at its low points. Warm, slightly humid weather with light rains. Lasts for 6 months.
1 month is 64 days.

71 years ago, my grandfather took a cycling trip around the perimeter of France with a friend. He kept a diary, meticulously documenting the events of almost every day. Last month, my brothers and I embarked on the same journey, following in his footsteps. I'd avoided reading the diary beforehand, so every day I'd read about his experience at the same time that I had them myself: the places he'd visited, the food he'd eaten, the people he'd found, and at the same time we'd see the same sights. Some days we were ahead of him, some behind.
After a few days, I realised that something very surprising was happening. 71 years later, and 40 years after the death of this man we never knew, we stopped talking about him in the past tense. It took me a while to notice it, but it slowly became more obvious. We'd say things like "he's just 10 kilometres ahead of us now" or "he's over there as he's taking that photo". Seven decades, suddenly erased - an experience that felt almost out of time - and in those few days he felt closer and more alive than he ever had before.
