“Crimes are always the highest in poor neighborhoods”, said an article you once read, when you were in high school, in your “current event” class. It made you chuckle, as you looked around you and saw a decrepit “school” full of teachers afraid of their students, and students terrified of their teachers. 

You know what was even scarier ? The fact that so many of you just decided that : “that’s just how it is”, and settled to have a life of misery, fighting every day for survival down in Gotham’s slums.

No change had happened in such a long time, every single person living under the line of poverty just decided to live with the fact it was never going to change. And that’s an awful thing to think about. At the same time, if you expect nothing from life, you can only be pleasantly surprised, right ? 

Yeah. No. Because even when you expect nothing, a place like Gotham City always had “surprises” that you definitely could do without. Like the local mafia taking hold of the neighborhood’s electricity, and you had to pay them to keep the heater on. And in Gotham in winters ? Saying it was cold was an euphemism. It was either finding the money, or freezing to death in your room. 

Finding money. 

Was this life ? A perpetual fight to keep your head above the water, to be able to eat at least a meal a day ? What a nightmare. 

Naturally, as you grew up, you slowly drifted more and more towards a world you never thought would be yours. A world in which there was “easy money”. 

Crime.

I finished this a few days ago, after watching The Batman movie!

The Riddler: Yeaa you know the amount of suffering caused because the corrupt rich never cared about those below them really gave me motivation and purpose. And so, what I did was the best way stand up for those whose been forgotten and silenced-- a new start 😊

Gotham Police: So your best course of action would've been to cause a flood that mostly affected the people you "stood up for"? Like defenseless children and families that died and others that can't afford to leave?

The Riddler:

Thinking about the possibilities of Holly Robinson in the Reevesverse.

How Selina finds a young teenage girl who was disregarded and neglected-- a stray. How she takes her in because she knows no one else is going to without leaving her completely alone. Despite Selina's inner guilt from Annika and fear that she only endangers those she loves, Holly makes it worth it. Selina helps her recover physically/emotionally, all while not realizing that Holly's doing the same to her. Holly becomes a bright sister-figure and encourages Selina to be more optimistic and have fun.

Let's see how Selina often neglects herself if it's for Holly's sake; how she wants to see her grow up better than she did, have better chances for normalcy. Holly always insists on assisting Selina on her cat-burglaries, but she refuses to get her involved. If ever left alone in the apartment, Holly has a gun and escape plan, all compiled by Selina. She gets lessons on how to defend herself-- Selina can't manage to lose someone else.

Holly's lesbian and Selina encourges her to talk to the cute girl, Karon, down at the gas station. Holly sees obvious sparks with Selina and Bruce, often leading her to interrogate him when she can (just to see if he's good enough). Holly doesnt pressure Selina to talk about her past, especially regarding her late roommate. We see a heart-warming relationship between two female characters about healing and growing into their skin.

OKAY BUT THIS DELETED SCENE. I LOVE IT. It would be SO interesting if Joker were to stay in Arkham Asylum just to get into the heads of other inmates to do his bidding. I'm definitely not the biggest Joker fan, but if he's like a rarely-seen mastermind/manipulator of other villans, I'm all eyes and ears. We already saw him at the end reassuring Riddler that he did great and that Gotham "loves a comeback." He already knew about what Riddler did, and he totally analyzed his whole personality and motives just from those files. Who knows? The gang we saw in the beginning could've been his groupies or something

AND it fits his general character too-- everything is a game to him and others are simply a pawn. He could really care less about them unless they're useful. Of course I'm tired of Joker being the front and center of Batman villans, but I bet (and/or know) Reeves could pull off letting him be on the sidelines while also being a huge menace to Gotham. Let 👏 other👏 villans👏 get 👏the 👏spotlight

Watched The Batman with my mom. She said that the scene where he's walking away from the fire reminded her of Kung Fu Panda 😭

My redesign of The Batman (2022) Riddler.

Although I do like the design in the movie, I feel that it only works as his first costume. I wouldn't like it if he looked like that throughout the entire trilogy. I redesigned him only slightly, just to make it look a little more "Riddler-esque".
