Girlies we have got to be more egotistical. I'm not even slightly kidding. We're taught by society to talk down to ourselves all the time, not to mention the weight of everyone else that talks down to us. Paying yourself a compliment is seen as narcissistic and laughable, so we shrink ourselves in our speech and our presentation. Confidence is a sin that patriarchy doesn't have an easy defense for, which is why it's threatening. Even if you don't believe it, fake it til you make it - fall in love with yourself, become narcissus at the pool, you're flawless and you deserve to step outside the belittling norms of our world.

Get ridiculous with it - tell yourself you're the most astute, intelligent person alive, tell yourself you're completely out of people's league, this is your PERMISSION - you're allowed to think you're fantastic and speak up about it.

There’s something very nice about remembering fics you read years ago. Maybe you remember the plot perfectly, maybe the rest of the fic is only a blur aside from a handful of vivid scenes, but you remember the way it made you feel. And sometimes you dredge up the memory - the premise or a favourite scene or a few lines that stayed with you -  and your heart aches a little bit, the way it does when you think about books you enjoyed as a child.

To all the fanfiction writers out there: your work is beautiful and meaningful and it leaves an impact. I promise.

the fact that hsl ends with shio's mind having been permanently damaged by satou's grooming and that she'll never get to live a normal life is so fucking devastating but it would also be a way worse series if that WASN'T the case because it would rob the story of its impact. like the whole point is that satou's "love" ended up hurting her and destroying her mental health the same way satou's aunt's love destroyed satou's mental health, thus continuing the cycle. if shio was just fine afterward then it would minimize the horror of satou's actions. when satou tells her aunt "as i child, i was stained by your false love," it carries such a painful irony upon reaching the end of the series and realizing that shio herself was stained by satou's false love.

They say you should make art for yourself, but the folks writing long-form fic on AO3 where the last reader comment was thirty-five chapters ago and they're still updating every week like clockwork are putting that into practice in ways I can only dream of.

I am convinced that they should have continued to make seasons of 26 episodes instead of 13.

Seasons 4, 5 and 6 are far too short and don't allow us to focus on the few characters with potential.

And I think this is especially true for All-Stars because with 26 episodes they could have brought back more candidates from previous seasons and show us more unexpected interactions, like the friendship between Zoey and Duncan or the love story between Scott and Courtney.
