actually re joking about being ‘the piracy friend’. do yourself a favour and stop relying on tumblr masterlists that are full of broken links and dodgy websites and just bookmark r/FREEMEDIAHECKYEAH’s piracy wiki (backup).

it’s the most comprehensive resource i’ve ever encountered my life and it’s also got so much extra stuff like decent free vpns/antivirus/adblock, a massive list of free software for almost every purpose you can think of, AND a list of custom search engines that mean you can search every site at once or you’re looking for something more obscure (this is how i seem to always have a link to literally anything)

there’s also this rentry, which i can vouch for less because i don’t use it so much but does have info on installing cracked versions of the more popular antivirus programs if you don’t want to pay but also don’t want to trust the free options lol

apparently this is not common knowledge among punk diy sewists but if you’re sewing patches / doing any sewing that requires pushing a needle through multiple layers of fabric, use a needle grip. they’re little rubber things that have excellent grip on the metal needle so you don’t have to pinch the needle as hard. you will save your fingers soooo much unnecessary pain.

Apparently This Is Not Common Knowledge Among Punk Diy Sewists But If You’re Sewing Patches / Doing

there’s two main types. the basic type is just a little circle of rubber that you fold around your needle, and the fancier type is a little rubber cap for your fingertips. they’re very cheap, under five bucks for the fancier kind and less for the basic, and they last forever. you can buy nice ones from your local craft store or steal them from the quilting section walmart idc. if you’re in a pinch (pun intended) and can’t go out, if you have a non-slip mat under a rug, cut off a little corner and that will work decently. please treat your fingers kindly <3

to everyone else in school right now:

please use sparknotes. please use khan academy. please listen to school house rock songs and watch the history of the entire world i guess and tim and moby and bill nye. any documentary you watch in class can be found somewhere online with a quick google. get your books from project gutenberg and z-lib. download textbooks off the internet whenever you can find them. use desmos for a free online graphing calculator. if you’re learning something and you don’t get it look up the wikipedia page on it and put it into simple english to get the gist, then put it back into regular english to get the full story. cheat if you have to. school sucks so bad rn and if you’re like me and you get all your materials secondhand or from the lost and found, online resources are really useful rn; all of the above have helped me pass a class in some way, and i hope they can help you too.

stay inside and stay safe. best of luck to all the students out there.

Don’t know if anyone will see but here is a boost from me.

Okay. Okay.

Whenever we reblog those lists of hotlines for people to call in an emotional crisis, part of me always thinks, “you know what? Talking on the phone fucking blows.”

And I’ve spoken to people mid-crisis who ABSOLUTELY REFUSE to call a number, because you know what? Talking on the phone fucking blows. IM is alright, typing things out to a faceless screen, it’s so much easier than using your voice most of the time. If only there was some sort of chat-based hotline-

There is? It’s here?!

HUZZAH!

IMAlive is an IM-based support center, run entirely by well-trained volunteers who seriously do give a shit. It’s free, it’s confidential, and it WORKS.

If you’re hurting right now, PLEASE CLICK THE LINK.

If you’re feeling alright, but give half a damn about the people around you, SIGNAL BOOST THE FUCK OUT OF THIS.

I want everyone to know this exists. This is an option. You don’t have to be afraid.

Come and talk.

celtic languages mega drive folder

mega.nz
261 files and 13 subfolders

i've been meaning to share my folder of celtic language pdfs for a while now, especially since duolingo has gotten even worse. the folder has pdfs of language-learning material, as well as some stuff on literature, history, indentity, etc. this is very much a work-in-progress, as i will add to the folder as i find more resources.

my folder currently has: welsh, breton, cornish, irish, scottish gaelic, manx, béarlagair na saor, early modern irish and classical gaelic, old irish, middle welsh, old welsh, and proto-celtic (although not all of them have a lot of pdfs in their folders yet).

(also if you want online resources, fiction books, media, etc, then take a look at this website: https://www.celtic-languages.org/Main_Page - it has both free and paid resources for irish, scottish gaelic, manx, welsh, cornish, breton, old irish, and classical gaelic.)

Learn ASL

These are some online resources, but ASL is a three dimensional language. The best way to learn is in person with a Deaf teacher. Check your local Deaf center for more resources and events. These resources provide a good place to start and build your vocabulary

Lessons, Quizzes, Dictionaries

ASLDeafined.com (Lessons in ASL, Deaf Culture/History, Interpreter information, and Dictionary) This one is $36/year. It's my favorite because it's structured well and asl includes lessons on Deaf culture and historical figures. When I took ASL classes from my local Center of the Deaf, they used this resource to structure the classes.

SigningSavvy.com (ASL Dictionary and beginner's info)

Lifeprint.com (Dictionary and beginner’s info)

aslpro.com (ASL dictionaries; and quizzes)

Videos, News, Vlogs, Podcasts

Watching native signers sign, even if it's above your current level, will help you learn much faster and more naturally

aslized.org (stories, jokes, poems and speeches in ASL)

Sign1News (News stories in ASL. They also have a YouTube channel and app)

The ASL Lab (YouTube channel; goes into depth about specific signs and grammatical structures)

What the Deaf?(podcast by two Deaf women explores different perspectives and challenges. Season 2 focuses on the film industry. You can listen in English and/or watch in ASL)

It will connect to local, then regional, then the national backup centers in the USA. 988 can also route you to the Veteran's Crisis Line, Spanish Language Crisis Lines, and other resources. So with Joann going under and as a Fashion/Costume Designer and a cosplayer I need a place to get fabric and notions, and I know many others feel lost as well

So I made a short simple list of online fabric stores as well as notions .

Please share with anyone you would like. If you have recommendations of things to add please let me know.

Fabric sources
Google Docs

There's only a few right now of ones I know and have used

I may add a few niche ones like Silk Baron but I am mainly adding ones with many options and maybe add a niche section later

More places with trims would be nice, or even patterns, historical, cosplay, or everyday.

Something I think a lot of xians don’t get is that while Judaism and Tanakh are absolutely essential to xianity and it making any kind of sense, Judaism in no way needs anything xianity has to offer, nor is modern rabbinic Judaism dependent on the existence of xianity. We exist entirely outside of and independent of xianity and Judaism (both as it was before the fall of the Second Temple as well as modern rabbinic Judaism) would have continued just fine without xianity. If xianity somehow disappears from the earth entirely, Judaism will still be here and will still make sense.

On the other hand, if Judaism and all of its texts were to disappear, xianity is no longer intelligible. And that is what I mean when I say that xianity is parasitic on Judaism. This is not a mutual or symbiotic relationship, no matter how hard xians seem to want to think it is.
