bitch he WAS a liberal. The entire revolution was the epitome of liberalism. I fucking hate how authoritarian communists like Jacobin have stolen its legacy (they even stole the name!)
they even bring up the “economic radicalism” of the Revolution - which was capitalism! it was radical because it overthrew the dominant feudal-mercantilist order. But irony is completely lost on communists because they’re braindead idiots.
