Johnny being asked to supress the part of him that's flaming for the sake of a traditional relationship doesn't seem like the healthiest dynamic ever. XD Luckily he later gets to be true to himself by dating a bunch of aliens, each weirder than the last :)
Now Doris, I'm sure Johnny must be THE most frustraiting boyfriend in the universe But you must know that that's not a promise he can morally keep in all circumstances Amazing Spiderman 21
a beetle just landed on my breast and then instantly died. not sure if my boob was too powerful or if it sought my bosom as a soft resting place, i hope it was the latter so it may have died at peace
Goliath beetle ✨ Hot pressed 100% cotton, 9"x12", Watercolor original ✨ If you want to invite this friend into your home, they will be listed in my Etsy soon :) (I'm planning for December 14th)
Friend shaped 🥰 yellow is an interesting colour to try and paint with because it’s so bright, but I think it looks good on this happy little beetle friend ☺️ there’s a bunch of these types of beetles with all sorts of different patterns and colours too! Very cute friends
There’s more bugs to come 😄one more before assembly time! this one was done almost entirely with black and red acrylic ink including a ✨sparkly✨ gold one! Do you have a favorite bug so far?
Another beetle for you! . One more to go and then it’s time to……... ✨a s s e m b l e✨

B u g g✨ the beetle from yesterday is complete! This guy was a time to paint. I think it was because of all the colours blending together but with the help of water and a lot of salt, I think it went alright 👌 .
✨shimmer✨ New bug for the collection! Ive found that the shimmery insects are a bit more challenging but I found my pearly watercolours! What a stylish bug ✨ .
✨Yes! I caught a Horned Hercules! Guess I was stronger! Whenever I see bugs now all I can think of is animal Crossing dialogue and when I’ll be able to sell them to Flick.
Milkweed bug! I don’t know if I’ve ever seen these little guys for myself since I never really looked out for them, but they are such a beautiful colour! I especially like how the pattern on their back looks like a heart 🖤
got a neat prompt from a demon generator! [ link, warning for flashing images ]
While driving, I thought about commuting on a big ol' beetle

The East side of Île de la Table Ronde is the noisy side, with the motorway running on the opposite side of the river. It's also the side with the widest walking track, and it was teeming with grasshoppers! I noticed a couple had landed on my shirt and were just chilling (maybe interested in eating the fabric? I'm thinking of locusts, aren't I). @teamroquette took the photos as I was unsure how much I could move without them jumping off. Turns out they were really chill.
Other critters seen this summer include some seen at Oberkirch: bees working on flowers, that's a classic, and... some less fortunate insects.
Bonus - posted here because my sister will kill me if I post this on Instagram where she can see it: a spider hanging out by Nonnenmattweiher lake.
one of the reasons for my recent beetle fixation, probably Cassida vittata
i've been looking at leaf beetles a lot recently so when I saw my friends' new lawnmower i couldn't help seeing this weird beetle and had to do some kind of sketch. it eats grass, of course. (excuse the extra sloppy antennae. fineliner, modified in krita.)
Asian Oak Weevil (Cyrtepistomus castaneus), taken May 25, 2025, in Georgia, US
A little oak weevil resting in the bend of a leaf! I happened to see this guy through a small gap in the leaf and turned it over to find this cute scene! He may be sleeping, as the weather was quite spotty and poor to travel in, but he could also just be chill like that. C. castaneus was introduced to the US from Japan in the early 1900s and has since spread throughout the Eastern US and SE Canada. They are considered invasive in some states due to native foliage damage brought on by infestations. Their patterning is quite variable—this is actually the first gray one I've ever found. Usually they're a matte brown for me, but they can also be nearly white. Many even have yellow or teal sides, which can faintly be seen in this individual, though not as brightly as some.
Red-headed Ash Borer (Neoclytus acuminatus), taken May 21, 2025, in Georgia, US
Another lifer beetle for me! It shouldn't be surprising, but it feels like everywhere I go I'm finding new longhorn beetles—round-necked ones especially! A lot are just the same colors recycled in different patterns, and I find it a bit funny. This guy was quite pretty and allowed me to take several photos before getting too shifty. I would also be bothered if a giant appeared and started manhandling the leaf I was sitting on, but this individual was brave and waited patiently for me to leave. How generous!
Round-necked Longhorn Beetle (Clytus ruricola), taken May 2, 2025, in Georgia, US
A cool longhorn beetle who's slumber I disturbed! This guy was hiding under a leaf after a storm. I didn't recognize the beetle, so I flipped his little leaf over for pictures. He was disturbed but didn't seem afraid, slowly exploring my presence and staying after I left him alone. I'm seeing lots of new longhorn beetles outside, but most of them are so skittish that they fly away as soon as they see me. I just happened to catch this guy at a lucky time!
Leaf Beetle (Sumitrosis inaequalis), taken April 19, 2025, in Georgia, US
A little leaf beetle! These guys are quite interesting and from afar look like weevils because of their pattern. Adult leaf beetles lay their eggs inside the leaves of host plants. Larvae then hatch and "mine" their way through the interior layers of the leaf, forming a pale, dried trail throughout the leaf. Larvae then pupate and, upon emergence, chew their way out of the leaf and fly away in search of a mate!
Two-lined Leatherwing (Atalantycha bilineata), taken April 2, 2025, in Georgia, US
Look at the size difference between them! By far not the largest I've ever seen, but the male is still only about 1/3 of the female's size! A size difference about this large is pretty typical for soldier beetles, though many other kinds of beetles have little to no size difference at all. For all of the individuals of this species I've been seeing around (hundreds), this is the first time I've seen a mating pair!
Pine Flower Weevil (Cimberis pilosa), taken April 1, 2025, in Georgia, US
Liftoff!! While I was photographing birds, this guy landed on my hand and spent a few minutes with me. I actually took him into my house to grab my macro lens and got it on just in time to catch him leaving! You can see that he's covered in pine pollen, as his name would imply. He's likely off to the next pine tree!
