Project Update

Bore da! Coming to you today with a little update

As explained in my September Update, I have been focusing on my mental health these past few months due to various life events I've been dealing with, namely;

In mid-March my long-term relationship came to an end and I had to make an emergency move into a new flat due to no longer being able to afford the rent. I was then in hospital due to ketoacidosis (a buildup of ketones in the body which causes the body to be too acidic, which can be life threatening). In April I lost my job due to whistleblowing health and safety concerns (and also experienced direct disability discrimination. I will be taking my former boss to tribunal over this). In July I briefly had a new job, however, due to poor mental health I could not carry on in the role. And in July I was informed that a family member has been diagnosed with a terminal illness.

Despite all these major life changes, I'm still determined to keep on doing what I love (my research) and sharing it with you all. These events have taken their toll, however, and I'm struggling to make ends meet without a job (I have enough in savings for three months of rent, excluding bills and food). I have applied to many jobs in and around Aberystwyth and I hope to hear from one soon.

August was exhausting, after the events of the past few months. But I'm finally feeling well enough to write and create again. I had struggled for months to format my undergraduate dissertation but as of last week I was finally able to finish making edits. Mae'r llyfr hwn yn wych iawn ar gyfer astudio hanes pobl draws ym Mhrydain Fawr c. 1910-2018. Dyma lyfr gyda thraethodau gan lawer o bobl - e.e. Christine Burns, Fox Fisher, Jane Fae, Mark Rees, y Parch Christina Beardsley ayyb. Mae pob un yn hynod ddiddorol i ddarllen! Roedd y llyfr yn ddefnyddiol iawn ar gyfer fy ngwaith israddedig hefyd.

Today's book is 'Trans Britain' edited by Christine Burns, published in 2018.

This book is brilliant for studying the history of trans people in Great Britain c. 1910-2018. This is a book with many essay contributions - e.g. Christine Burns, Fox Fisher, Jane Fae, Mark Rees, the Rev Christina Beardsley etc. All are fascinating reads! The book was very useful for my undergraduate work also.

Noswaith dda! New stock is finally here and I'm expanding international shipping!

I have 2 new print designs out today, based on my artworks for the Tir Cwiar exhibition! One is based on "Yr Haul" - a piece which celebrates the queerness of the land through the interblending of the mountains of Wales with the chevron on the progress pride flag. And the other is based on sketches I did for "Y Daith" - featuring the earliest reference to intersex people in Welsh as the ring on the intersex flag (the reference comes from the Laws of Hywel Dda and dates to around the 14th Century).

I have also restocked some of my most popular prints, such as the bilingual Gilbert Baker flag print (pictured) and the bilingual LGBT+ terminology print. You can find my prints here.

I am also expanding international shipping! I can now ship to any places covered by Royal Mail - including the US, Canada, EU, New Zealand/Aotearoa, Australia and elsewhere in the world. International shipping prices have gone up so you will be charged a flat rate of £2.70 for shipping if you are located outside of the UK. Existing international orders will also be posted tomorrow (all things going well).

For those of you in the UK - I will be selling badges soon as well. If you've bought from me in-person you will have had a sneak-peek at some of them already, but soon I will have pronoun badges, collage badges and original art badges up for sale on my online shop. Shipping of badges will be UK only due to costs for now.

Welsh Gender Neutral Terms Tournament #3 - (Neutral) Niece/Nephew

Following on from this post I made yesterday, in which I listed some possible gender neutral Welsh terms for family brainstormed in the discord, I'm going to make a series of polls to find out which terms people prefer for each concept. In each poll I'll have two options and example sentences using each term (you are welcome to create your own as well). Your feedback is very much appreciated too! I'm publishing my first poetry chapbook, Poems for Justice!

I've been writing poetry in the English langauge since I was in high school. As of late, I have begun writing my first Welsh langauge poetry as well. This bilingual chapbook is the result!

So I have 20 books on international politics and military history which I don't need. Would any UK folks following me be interested in any of these books for £5 each plus postage (unless you're also in Aberystwyth)?

Topics of books: World Security, Soviet-Afghan War, Suez Crisis, World War II (British, USSR and German), Soviet Union, World War I (Western Front), 20th Century alternate history, psychology of combat and Classical History.
