Me on December 25th:
“We’re all in this together”, says the Pequod crew as Starbuck is about to shoot Captain Ahab
I can only really listen to the first three Ithaca songs in full because the last two absolutely shattered every fiber of my being.
Our tactful, guileful man, ladies and gents
tbh my favourite quality about Odysseus towards the end of the Odyssey is that he'll swear to be honest and immediately spit out two pages of nothing but lies about who he is and where he comes from and whose son he is and how he's suffered terribly to get where he is now
compare that to him giving polyphemus his full name, his postal address, his social security number, and his birth certificate in earlier chapters
that's what we call ✨personal growth✨
It has happened. My first rough sketch of Odysseus.
I fully intend on using him as a study for drawing, so I can learn how to draw better in general and draw him better as well. As a reference I used a few doodles of WolfytheWitch’s Odysseus, so credits to her since this is her iteration of Odysseus.
So…so unwell. An audience of shades we’d be.
Having the little pauses in Dangerous was great because not only does it leave the listener at home just vaguely hearing the chorus of Full Speed Ahead in their minds but you just know that if it was played on stage the audience quietly droning after Jorge would go fucking insane
“Six hundred men…six hundred deaths under my command, cause I had one goal in mind…”
The audience gently: “…make it back alive to our homeland…”
Like an echo of ghosts haunting him for his decisions in the back of his mind, the wind underneath his sails, the only thing Odyessus has left
man does this guy love his wife or what
FR I was so scared that Jorge was only going to include Scylla, so I was so happy when he revealed his reference gadget for Charybdis. We love our chittering, whale calling, whirlpool with teeth and her song SLAPS.
Not seeing enough appreciation for Charybdis as a song actually
The ending of mutiny kind of reminds me of “think mark, think!” From Invincible.
“These were Helios’ cattle, and now you’ve killed one! Who will Helios send??? Think Eurylochus, think!”
It has come to my attention that my Odyssey brainrot is more than brainrot at this point. It is brain decomposition. I’m having a great time :)
To all of you who are able to see The Return today, have fun. I hope you all enjoy the movie, and that Odysseus’ return to the big screen does not disappoint.
Greek mythos brainrot is so bad that Odysseus king of Ithaka can grow mushrooms using my neurons
