It’s about time I did another pixiv post with mouseover text, right? Amemura keeps showing up in my recommendations with these eye-catching beautiful skies and vertical locations. The artist has recently started posting their new work on Tumblr and Twitter, so they’re easier to follow now.

Lake of Twilight (黄昏の湖)

This is Salar De Uyuni, Bolivia, the largest salt flat in the world. When it rains, the entire salt flat turns into a mirror. Trippy! Artists and photographers love this place.

If I could see this clearly underwater, I'd go scuba diving all the time. Having things above and below you and swimming up and down to meet them must be a lot of fun.

Xinon – Origin

I just got on the train headed for another PAX East! 70,000 gamers get together in Boston every year to play games, and you can find competition in any game there is. Last year, I took second place in the tournaments for Tetris DS and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2, and I’ve been training to win them both this time around. I’ll be updating Twitter just like last year.

Anyway, enjoy some high-energy Game Boy chiptunes courtesy of Xinon. This album has gotten me through some long, tiring weekends.

Girls and Space!! – pixiv Spotlight

These girls should be very dead. If I could survive without heat, air, atmospheric pressure, and radiation protection, then I’d wish I could float around in space too. Maybe they can do it because it’s cool, or maybe they’re robots? pixiv Spotlight posts twice a day in English, and this one’s about girls in space.

Tissot T-Touch Expert Solar with World Order

Anime Hell once again delivered the Japanese weirdness at Ohayocon. I expected that 2016’s Japanese commercials would be just as good as 2015’s. The one that surprised me was a Tissot watch ad as a music video for the band World Order’s song World Order. I wish all my clocks could sync up like this band. This reminds me of OK Go.

Jennifer Greenburg – The Rockabillies

I’ve got a soft spot for the most eccentric geeks who go a long way to live how they want, even if it’s weird. As it turns out, there’s an entire Rockabilly community for recreating the lifestyle of 1950s America. It’s not just about having retro clothes, furniture, and appliances, but also about repairing and maintaining those things for decades instead of replacing them like we do now. These people must be a blast to hang out with.

Wave – Ultimate Meowvel vs Catcom 3

Today I present the cast of Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 as cats from Chi’s Sweet Home. I actually met Wave last weekend at Matsuricon, and she was showing off plenty more cat parodies.

The original only had the vanilla Marvel vs Capcom 3 cast, then it got updated with the DLC characters and the new characters from Ultimate. The original was my wallpaper for a while in the dark ages before this blog.

Kawayoo is a busy artist, and not just in drawing illustrations for art books and Pokémon cards. His electronic music puts me in the mood to write code. I’ve been working on adding a key config menu to Skeleton Hunter, and when it’s finished, I’ll tell you all about it.

It's been too long since this type of post. pixiv is just a fire hose of cool art. I could start browsing tags and artists and lose my entire afternoon there, so I don't check it like I used to.

Bill Wurtz – i'm a huge gamer most of the time

Oh cool, Bill Wurtz just popped up in my YouTube feed! Time for me to step away from my subreddit about floaty things for a minute and post this to my old social media places! I’ve been a huge gamer my whole life. Though recent changes have taken priority over games, I still play Wordle, lichess, and retro games. I miss my stream and I want to reboot the stream when I can.

I love watching people break games. This tool-assisted glitchfest of the SNES International Superstar Soccer Deluxe replaces the referees with dogs that apparently can’t keep score and don’t take issue with players messing around behind the goals. Gashi Gashi – E-can

The animations on pixiv are just a series of PNGs animated in HTML5. Luckily, Gashi Gashi also posted a GIF of this on Tumblr, so I'd added that here. When Mega Man charges up a shot, he starts flashing, but everything else that's the same color as Mega Man flashes too.
