Oh cool, Bill Wurtz just popped up in my YouTube feed! Time for me to step away from my subreddit about floaty things for a minute and post this to my old social media places! I’ve been a huge gamer my whole life. Though recent changes have taken priority over games, I still play Wordle, lichess, and retro games. I miss my stream and I want to reboot the stream when I can.

pixiv is basically the Japanese DeviantArt, full of talented artists I’d never have heard of otherwise. I picked up Udon’s Pixiv Almanac last year at PAX East and I craved more. I’m now subscribed to pixiv Top Weekly – Top 20 which gives a good balance of quality and quantity. Other pixiv feeds are available at PixivRss. If people like this post, I may do some more like this in the future.
You can click each image below to visit its posting on pixiv. If you register an account there, you can download the full resolution image. Also, this is a good time to remind you that I write mouseover text for almost every image on this blog, which you can see whether you’re on my site or reading my RSS feed.
(This post and the four before it were all one post over on my old blog. Tumblr doesn’t support mouseover text, so I’ve copied those over as plain text for each image’s post.)
That sky is pretty! I use this as the wallpaper for my Grub menu to choose which OS to boot into. I think I was actually linked to this one by a Tumblr blog I followed, but I forget which one. Sorry.
UPDATE: Added Google Translate-based guesses for all titles and usernames to bring this more in line with my other pixiv posts

30-Day Video Game Music Challenge (Super Hard Mode) Day 10: RPG battle music From Mega Man Battle Network 6 (GBA, 2005)
I’m actually playing Battle Network 1 right now. I passed up Battle Network when it was new because it wasn’t the new Mega Man platformer I wanted. Today, its unique battle system really stands out.

Because it’s an all-time great metal album and totally not because I just joined the fediverse as @hitstun@computerfairi.es . My posts like this one will continue to appear in all the usual places for now. But, I’m not going to stay active on a site like Twitter when an idiot billionaire tears it apart and ruins it for everyone.

Oh boy, sometimes my Twitch.tv stream is comedy gold. When I play Oregon Trail, I have a rule to always ford every river. Even when we reach the 20 foot deep Green River, I must attempt to drive the wagon right across the bottom, drowning all the oxen. This degenerated into my Skype chatters Jdetan, Kinkaido, and Seriouscacodemon making up a story about the wagon leader trying to cobble together a single ox and get moving again.
I should probably say here that my streams contain NSFW language. You know, because we’re horrible people on the Internet.
The other thing we keep quoting, "ford the fing eiver," was a typo from old stream regular Acemage123. That typo stuck around years longer than the chatter.

Core-A Gaming posts fun videos that make fighting game concepts easier to understand. The one I’ve posted here explains what makes a move too powerful by breaking down properties of hitboxes, frame data, and even hitstun.

Let’s try an audio post again. WayForward’s music composer Jake “virt” Kaufman has a series of great chiptune albums. FX4 plays like an adventure movie soundtrack with orchestral stylings and guitar riffs, but in authentic NES sound. If you can’t see the Bandcamp player, there’s a YouTube player below it that should work for everyone, even Facebook.
And now, the blog’s first block quote! From the source:
INTO THE RIFT Despite the hazards of deep-sea exploration and growing diplomatic unease, the salvage operation begins. The surface team is protected by a small fleet of hired mercenaries. Hours into the dive, they are suddenly attacked by an unknown military force, far better equipped than any provincial warlord. The attackers suddenly retreat, however, as soon as the news breaks that the wreckage has been secured.

If you still use screen savers, Columbus-based developer M \ K Productions has a good one for you. Nintendo Saver 2015 fills your monitors with several NES games. Each one is actually a fully-functioning NES emulator playing a replay that was recorded in UberNES, and if you like, you can pick up a gamepad and take over control of one of the games on the spot. The recorded replays include my Super Mario Bros 3 playaround and a couple shorter videos showing glitches in Super Mario Bros 1 and Mega Man 2. If you like it, maybe I’ll record some more.

What kind of blog about cool stuff from the Internet would be complete without Plamoo’s stop motion movies done with Japanese action figures? For the past few years, he’s been perfecting the art with unusually smooth animations, unpredictable action sequences, and wacky parodies.
Also worth mentioning is LUXE37, which is this idea done with die-cast toy cars.

For April Fools’ Day, I brought my weekly stream back to Twitch and did annoying things popular Twitch streamers do a lot. I played a mainstream game online, I had a webcam which covered up my money and ammo counts, I had a lot of useless crap taking up space on the screen, and I constantly begged for followers and donations. Even Moobot was spamming up my chat, which had the default cuss filter on despite the NSFW language onscreen. This all went horribly right, even with Twitch constantly buffering and crashing and Xbox Live dropping my connection several times.

This reminds me of the Imperial Boy background art I posted here several months ago. So much detail! I'd make this my wallpaper but I can't crop it to 16:9 without losing lots of details.
