another long night of partying and salem was completely wasted, stumbling as he walked back to his apartment. “wow --” he chuckled when he nearly ran into another guy, raising his hands to show he meant no harm. “my bad uh dude. the night’s still early but --- i went too hard.” he laughed again, shaking his head. salem probably should be more worried about being out so close to curfew but he figured he would make it home soon.

her mother had taught her well ; while chad fell asleep during classical music lessons , stella thoroughly enjoyed it . stella could only play the piano , sing a tune or two - so she was surely not going to perform tonight , but she would watch - enjoy it . “ it’s been awhile since i heard something so passionate . ” she has a fair amount of TALENTED friends , but passionate ? debatable . “ how long have you played for ? ”
some part of salem almost felt bad. a talent he had probably cultivated over years of hard work the first time he was alive, he now barely payed any attention to. “ uuh --- can’t say. years, probably. ” he shrugged. everything he could never find words elegant enough to express, he let it out when he was on stage. how disillusioned anyone from the audience must become when speaking to him.
salem stares at the bottle in her hand with a curious expression, trying to figure out what she wants. he has no recollection of her but to be fair, he doesn’t remember most people he meets since he’s usually under the influence. however, lately he had been trying to do better for elva’s sake which is the only reason he had a hangover. he never had one before because that would imply he was ever sober. “ sort of? ” he finally responded, putting together the clues and guessing that’s what the water must be for. “ is that for me? ” he questions.
“ you’ve got to stay hydrated so you don’t DIE-DRATE ! ” girl greets him , holding a water bottle as she does so . sia shakes it , just a moment so they can hear the ice shaking in the metal container . big eyes fall on him , she’s so curious about him ever since the other night - the one that , perhaps , they both may have been fairly intoxicated ; but she remembered it all . sia’s a bit awkward , not quite sure what to say . “ uh , hey ! you got a hangover today ? ” nailed it , SIA : master of communication ! @graveghcst wanted a starter !

“That was amazing. I wish I could play the violin. I can only play bass. I loved your performance. The song was really beautiful.” She says, bouncing excitedly. “Want a beer?” She had a fake id and the people here knew her, they usually would let her drink.
“Ah, yeah, I don’t know anything about those sorts of instruments.” For him, playing the violin was like riding a bike. It came naturally to him but in reality he had no memory of learning it when he was alive for the first time. “Ye -- ah, no?” He sighed, shaking his head. “Not right now. I don’t know what I want.”

“Seems like it should be something you do more often, to be honest.” If Marinus could play the violin anywhere near as good as the performer in front of him - or at all, really - he would definitely take his own advice. He was a bit jealous, actually. “You must have been practicing for years. Major props.”
“I don’t know if I have the will for that.” He chuckled, making light of his own talent. In his past live, he was sure he must have treasured and practiced for hours, but he had no recollection of that drive now. “Maybe. Thanks, man. Now, I gotta find something to drink. Being up there without one was exhausting.”

Elva frowned, watching him go. She should just let him keep walking, she should just leave him alone. It was safer for him, it was better this way. He could be happy alone, right? Right? “Ugh!” She said aloud as she chased after him, “Salem Skellington, you get back here right now!” She demanded, “You think you can just walk away after saying something like that?” She shoved his shoulder, not hard, but enough to show him her frustration. “I’m not going to let you go and get hurt or whatever. Now who’s after you, tell me what’s really going on?”
Salem stopped, turning back to Elva . It was better if he stayed far away from her, why was she stopping him? He barely moved when she shoved him, surprising considering he was almost always swaying on his feet. “It’s nothing that serious, you know me. I just can’t stay out of trouble.” He shrugged, looking everywhere but directly at her. The bar fight that caused all this really wasn’t that serious, he had just meant he was bound to get in trouble again because he always did. It was in his nature to invoke chaos. “C’mon, Elva. You know it’s not good for you to get involved with me. I’ll just screw up your life... that’s why you don’t want to hang out anymore,” he muttered the unfair words, knowing they would hurt and he hated himself for saying it. It was just so painful to feel so much for Elva and know that he was too screwed up to ever have her.

Begging. He was begging her to fix him. Was he really that stupid? Were all Auradonians like that? He didn’t even know her name and he was going to let her into his mind. “Alright, sit down. I’m going to put a barrier up in your mind. Technically you’ll still hear and see the dead, but your brain won’t communicate that information to your conscious mind. We do it all the time naturally anyway,” She waited for him to get comfortable and put two fingers on each side of his temples. She let out a deep breath and breached his mind.
A barrier. That was what he had been trying to achieve with the drinking and drugs this whole time but it never lasted. It only became harder to keep it up and it was creating a more permanent barrier between him and everyone he cared about. “Okay,” he agreed softly, relaxing and letting out a soft sigh as he tried to clear his head. It felt odd, wrong almost, to have let someone else willingly into his head but he tried not to resist, tried to let go so she could do whatever she needed to with her magic.
