The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

“Oh nice. You know you can come visit home right? I haven’t seen you at home in forever. Although I guess that doesn’t mean you haven’t been home. Anyways, i’m glad you’re well. i ‘ve missed you.”
“Yeah, I know !” He assured, a little too eagerly. “But I’ve just been busy here, ya know. I can never get enough time off to make a trip home.”
wickedissms:
Maleficent smiled, there was something here in this ghostly child, “Feeling homesick?” She wondered. She knew well enough that there was something wrong with him, his substance problems were no secret. “Or is it a girl?” His feelings for the ice princess were no secret either. She knew this form could be deceiving, was it enough to begin to sow some seeds of chaos?
“Are you some kind of mind reader?” He joked before shaking his head. “None --- all of the above.” Chuckling, he took another sip from his bottle, beginning to think of home. If he went back and let go of this human body, he would be free from it all. It would be too easy and that was why Salem refused to return home. “Oh, but it’s so much more too,” he admitted, wondering why he was making things so hard on himself again.
wickedissms:
“Something like that,” Maleficent smiled slightly, she moved a little closer, she’d never been a seductress, and she wasn’t now, but she knew this form had a coy sort of charm. “Tell me about her, tell me what bothers you…” She tilted his chin towards her, “I can do more than read minds you know…”
If any warning bells were going off, he registered none of them, totally unaware that he was potentially being played by the mistress of evil. “She’s... smart, self-sacrificing, strong, warm and ice cold. She’s everything I don’t deserve because I would just ruin her and get us both hurt.” Physically and emotionally. “Not that she would ever give me a chance,” he admitted, eyes flickering up to meet hers. “What do you mean?” He asked in a soft voice.

some could say it was sad that the first person salem wanted to go to was the very person that he should hate. but it was nobody’s fault but maybe his own that elva would never return his feelings. harry was a good guy underneath all his bad boy exterior and salem had little room to judge, anyways. “so uh -- cheers ! to --- moving on ! ” he chuckled, already high because he had smoked before going over to the pirate’s place.
wickedissms:
“Well, you should stop now.” Maleficent pushed him away, a grin on her face. “Obviously you won’t tell anyone about what happened,” she continued to exert her influence. “I wouldn’t worry about the drugs.” They were better to his mind weak and ready for entry, “Go and get your girl, or at least tell her about her unfaithful pirate.”
“Everyone needs a good hug now and then.” He chuckled, stepping back anyways when she pushed him. As calm as he felt, he still knew not to push his luck with the sorceress. He cocked his head in confusion, wanting to argue the point but he simply nodded with a small smile. “Yeah, I should tell her the good news. And again, thanks. This is... unbelievable.”
wcstelavd:
“well, i wouldn’t say the best but thanks for saying that and for thinking it,” he shrugged, smiling at his friends before letting out a loud laugh and sticking his tongue out at salem. “oh, hush – they won’t do anything to you,” he shoved salem away playfully, innocently thinking all his lovers would do is the same thing that happened on their first time and not what harry also did afterwards to the person who shared a kiss with gil. “besides, you’re too pretty for me,” gil winked at salem, a giggle following his words. “i am very lucky to have them, they are my world. one day you will have that too, i am sure of that, salem.” his smile softened at the thought of his partners and his eyes grew hopeful for salem.
salem shook his head, resigning himself to the fact that gil was not good at taking compliments, but neither was he. “always too drunk to care, anyways.” he shrugged with a crooked smile. he also believed harry would at least give him the benefit of the doubt since he considered the other pirate a nice drinking buddy. “pretty?” he questioned with slurred laughter. it was odd to be described as such since he had been so proud of his grotesque ghost form back home, making his perception of beauty rather warped. “that’s a beautiful thought,” he offered instead of denying his words, it was hard to be self-deprecating when gil was looking at him with pure hope. “anyways ---” he yawned. “you ready to turn in? it’s late and you’re way too drunk to walk back so stay in the guest room, yeah?”
harry: you know i'm down for getting drunk
harry: my dorm is free. i never use it so
salem: i would say my apartment is better but...
salem: it's trashed
salem: any drink requests?
It took the former ghost a moment to remember who the woman was. It had a been a bad night for him when he met her, he honestly remembered very little about their talk but he felt comfortable in her presence, at least. “Oh, hey! Yeah, it’s pretty strange but I like it. Reminds me of my dad.” His dad who was the king of Halloween but also loved all things Christmas, including the chilly snow.

Maleficent had been interrupted at the damn festival. But there was no reason to give up. This little abomination from Halloweentown presented a great opportunity, especially after some research. He had been a ghost in his home world, and the transition to human was not always smooth. “Hello stranger.” She said, her sweet princess form bouncing towards him in the snow. “Weird weather we’re having, isn’t it?” Some chaos she wasn’t responsible for but definitely approved of.

not quite the reaction harry had grown accustomed to in auradon. “aye, that would be right.” now the boy had his full attention. it wasn’t every day that someone actually challenged a pirate of all people to a drinking contest. “really think ye can drink a pirate under the table?? alright, i’ll bite. ye got a deal. an’ i’ll be looking forward tae ‘earing all o’ ‘bout halloween town.”
the former ghost grinned when his offer was accepted. drinking against a pirate would certainly be a challenge but not one that salem couldn’t handle. “i think, never say never.” he chuckled, shaking his head excitedly. “sure. okay, so should we find a bar then?” or the skellington boy had plenty of alcohol at his place if the pirate rather do the contest in private.
