Some clue on sleeping, if you have troubles it’s that you may not be doing one of the following.
1. Have a dark room and comfortable bed.
2. No screens an hour before bedtime.
3. No smoking, alcohol or energy drinks 4 hours before bedtime.
4. No exercises 4 hours before bedtime.
5. No coffee 6 hours before bed.
6. No radio or TV in the bedroom.
These are basic rules for sleeping well. Enjoy!
Pizza shop slogan:”7 days without pizza makes one weak.”
Outside a muffler shop: “No appointment necessary. We hear you coming.”
Door on a plastic surgeon office:” We can help you pick your nose!”
In aveternarian’s waiting room: “Be back in 5 minutes. Sit! Stay!”
On an electricians truck: “Let us remove your shorts.”
In a non-smoking area: If we see smoke, we will assume you are on fire and take appropriate action.”
On a maternity room door: “Push. Push. Push.”
At an optometrists office: If you don’t see what you’re looking for, you’ve come to the right place.”

* There is 1 lefty for every 9 righties in the general population.
* The Scottish Kerr family is mostly left handers.
* Body sidedness (functions) are swapped in the brain, the right hand is controlled by the left side and vice versa.
* Leftys use the right hemisphere for being visually oriented, rightys are language oriented.
* Both sides in right and left handers use the brain.
* Being Left handed does not mean left footed or left eyed.
* Clarence Darrow, Albert Einstein, Benjamin Franklin, Johan Sebastian Bach, Isaac Newton, Michaelangelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, Prince Charles, Prince William, Mark Twain and several presidents, including Barack Obama are/were all left-handed.
* Astronaut Buzz Aldrin was the second person to set foot on the Moon and a lefty.
*Psychologist Stanley Cohen stated in 1992 that, "Left-handers may be the last unorganized minority in society, with no real collective power, and no sense of common identity.".

You know, getting ear wax buildup and going deaf is no fun. You pick up half the world and the other half screams at you. More than that, it takes a long time to 'melt' that out of your ear with hot water, or using old wax remover. Even the new stuff isn't great if the damage is done - you go deaf! At least that's me. One consolation is the internet and blogs, you can only see them and they won't scream at you. And you can read the news, read the blogs and be entertained, for some time, if you're satisfied with that. If you're half deaf i's almost worse because you keep waiting for it to recover and do not know if it will. I'm at a loss. But keep trying.

Guinea Pigs
What do you know about guinea pigs? They are not from Guinea, nor are they pigs. They came from the Andes and are a staple there. Long ago, a lot of 1,000 guinea pigs and lamas were sacrificed to appease the gods for better crop harvests. Nowadays, they are raised for food in small, shallow holes inside the homes of those in South America that raise them, for food, although not in large numbers.
There are many breeds, including long and short-haired versions of various ‘forest colors’. My two are American and Coronet.
As for behavior as pets, they are mostly nocturnal, yet are awake off and on in daytime. They need diet food and like sweet Timothy Hay. Like humans, these rodents need vitamin C, usually put in water or food by liquid from their owners. They can ‘put up with’ a 2’ X 3’ cage minimum and need ”social time” as they are ”social animals”, so are best kept in pairs or with litter mates.
For me, particularly, I’ve noticed they can tolerate noisy vacuums and dishwashers; and, they have hearing up to 50,000 hertz. On the other hand, I’ve heard lights switching on and off may upset them. As an owner, one should check their paws, ears, eyes, nose, teeth and fur weekly for ‘irregularities’. Being prey animals, they have a tendency to hide their faults from predators; that they ‘think’ is everyone else, and is hard to breed out.
They speak in ”wheeks”, sounding somewhat like small whistles, squeals, ”chuffs”, and other vocalizations; and may display dominant/submissive behavior, like territorial hindquarters rocking or sounding a low frequency “chatter”.
These animals are a joy to keep and watch, and I fully would recommend them as pets.

052014 Santa Maria discovered…
”In 1492 Columbus sailed the ocean blue”, or so you may have remembered. Well, he quit the Santa Maria when reaching the New World, after it sank about 12 miles off of Haiti. This was announced in a New York boat club recently, a few days ago. The Santa Maria discovery may have been named too soon, though armaments, wooden ship items of the era and planking was found where it had been recorded by Christopher Columbus, then. It is believed to be so. Found from a written record, this was released. . Who knows what remnants of that time will be recovered? Visions of pirate bones, treasure and doubloons swim in our collective heads. This important discovery has the government involved.

NSA? NSA!?
What 10,000 documents did Edward Snowden steal anyway?
Who gave a National Security Worker oversight of his own 10,000 private, classified NSA documents? What security measure?
What were these - stolen and private - documents anyway? Telephone records? He has 10,000 private telephone records?
The Russians have 10,000 stolen, private, American telephone records?
Who wants a Communist listening to his private phone calls?
What do you do? Complain about the theft.

Hurley - an ancient Celtic sport
Long ago, a sport called ''Hurley'' was played in Celtic Lands. The Celts were dominant in Europe before the Romans conquered them. They had all the things other civilizations had, a ruling class, schools, mathematics, science and religion. Their math elitists were ''the Druids'', but nobody remembers those conquered.
The sport Hurley had English football rules, a cricket-like bat, and an American baseball size ball. Sometimes it was played between whole villages, and for days at a time. The earliest recorded rendition of Hurley is from a king in 3200 BC, this is an old sport. Hurley is also the name of a street near where I live.

The Week quoted: ”President Bush calls for superiority over CH.I.K,s”
This is the a real quote, ”The country has found a new ‘Sputnik Moment’ ”. This was when the Cold War was in full swing. It was America vs the Soviet Union (that fell in 1994 from internal conflict) because they put up a satellite and we thought nukes were next. It seemed likely. Not so now, Nuclear Weapons are forbidden in Space, thank you presidents Reagan and Gorbachev. The shock, actual shock, of the US failling behind led to an all out effort to regain footing in ”the Space Race” against China (CH), India (I), and South Korea (K,s), ”CH.I.K,s”.
Actually America has 22 of the world’s top 30 universities and graduates more engineers per capita than India or China, and we will have resentment from third world countries like the Arabs or African nations that may be left behind.
Thankfully, someone thought of an answer, ”CoursEra”. Does ''CoursEra'' sound like ''Crimea'' that’s in the news lately? Is this a Cool War over future billions of third world nations? Interested? Contact “CoursEra”. CoursEra is a free university-scale online study ‘center’. You may get Princeton, Harvard, Yale or Stanford, P.H.Y.S.

Want to take a Ride?
The American River bike trail, ARBT, runs with no bumps or potholes, nearly, from downtown Sacramento Discovery Park to old Folsom, both are Pony Express stops. It's 35 miles of ''green traveling'' along a well maintained asphalt pathway following the American and Sacramento rivers. Some spots are even being fenced off and replanted. . Drinking water and portable outhouses are provided, no worries for tired riders or bike tires. Very scenic, lots of trees, plants, bushes, Grey or Ground Squirrels, the occasional pet, and of course, bicycle riders. There are many access roads from Folsom, Sacramento and places in between. Many will drive from Folsom, park the car, ride or raft to Sacramento, driving or bicycling back home. I rode one way in 3 hours, very scenic. You could be careful by having an extra tire, but that's just in case. . From the trees and such, it's a quiet ride mostly, but the trail crosses under several more than 2 lane roads, it's ''God's bicycle country''. In any case, you will see only bicyclists or joggers of both sexes only. Many days will see empty trails; however, it's a good sign in seeing others, knowing your bicycling efforts are not alone. . There is at least one sign, thank you Department of Public Works and County Parks, with 100's of Golden Poppies, California's State Flower, this 2014 Spring. . So we gravel roads run parallel for maintenance trucks that travel the route and keep all up to shape. It's well travelled, but well maintained. A riding rules and large map are available from county parks.
