Back To School - What’s On My Phone?

Back to school - What’s on my phone?

Okay so I don’t know about you guys, but I used to be obsessed with what’s on my phone videos. And with back to school season being at full force, I have decided to make a what’s on my phone, but talk about apps I use for school, and anything that helps me stay productive/active (including routine)

For this post I’ll have a bunch of screenshots, so sorry in advance if it’s long. I’ll order them by category, so you can easily find whatever you might be interested in.

Back To School - What’s On My Phone?

This is my homescreen/school folder (some apps are covered up because of privacy reasons). Wallpaper by @emmastudies. It also shows most apps I’ll be talking about in this post.

Planning/Time Managment

App #1: Wunderlist

Back To School - What’s On My Phone?

It’s a basic to-do app, but I now also use it for keeping track of other tasks. In the app I have 4 different lists. Main (for basic tasks), schoolwork (homework and essays), social media to do (which has 5 sub lists; youtube, studyblr, langblr, studygram, and main instagram), and to buy (for groceries, but also my school supplies checklist, makeup checklist, ect.)

It is really easy to keep track of everything, as it allows you to add due dates, reminders, notes, and even attachments to your tasks. You can also add sub-tasks, so if it’s a step by step task you can add those in too. And the best part, you can sync it with other users, so if you have a group project you can add them to the task or list (if you have multiple tasks together) and keep track of each other’s progress too.

I definetly recommend this app for anyone that needs to be more organised.

App #2: Days–

Back To School - What’s On My Phone?

Sadly this app isn’t actually available in the app store anymore, as the maker of the app discontinued it. However, you can still get an apk to install, which I will link here. (Download on your pc or laptop, scan for any virusses, then send to your phone to install. It was save for me, but you can never be too carful)

I use this app for events and big tasks. It’s kind of like a countdown app. I added in each event or big tasks, and it orders it by when the deadline/event is, so I can see how much longer I have to either prepare or finish it. I also added in birthdays so I can see how much longer I have to prepare a gift/party. The color coding option in the app is also really nice. I color coded it as follows:

Red = Events (mostly concerts)

Yellow = Birthdays

Green = Release dates (music I look forward too, movies, ect.)

Blue = School stuff (first day of school, tests, ect.)

Purple = Other

Although I mainly use it for looking at how long until my next concert, it’s actually really useful to plan study/work sessions for school tests or projects. Instead of having to count days/weeks towards due dates and than devide my time up, I can just look at the app, see how long I have left, and devide it up then. And because it takes up barely any space, I feel like it’s a nice bonus to have on my phone that isn’t necessarily an essential, but it’s also not in the way of any other apps.

App #3: Google Calendar

Back To School - What’s On My Phone?

Now this I don’t really need to explain. It’s a calendar. It syncs with your Google account, and it has a really clean interface with a lot of options for personalisation.

For privacy reasons I didn’t take a screenshot of my own agenda, but I did add pictures from Google themselves.

App #4: Quality Time

Back To School - What’s On My Phone?

I don’t know about you guys, but I usually spend way too much time on my phone. So I got an app that warns me when I have spend either too much time in total, or on one app in specific. You can set your own time limits for each app (or set it as unlimited) and a limit of how much you want to be on your phone in total. It won’t shut you out of apps after the time has run out, but it does keep track, which is really useful in my opinion.

Here I have added a screenshot of a few days ago.

Studying

App #1: Forest

Back To School - What’s On My Phone?

A lot of you already know about this app, but I’ll still talk about what it does a little bit. Basically, you plant a tree, and you can’t use your phone until the tree has grown (you can set the time that it takes to grow yourself). If you do touch your phone before it grows, the tree dies. It helps with concentration, as it eliminates phone usage while studying.

Here is my forest from today. I like to use it for more than just studying (working out, reading, ect.), so my forest time is a bit long today.

App #2: Memrise

Back To School - What’s On My Phone?

I talked about this app before, but I’ll talk about it again. It basically is an app that you can use to learn a new language! It has a bunch of languages included, and is really easy. It also feels a bit like a game because of the levels/experience system it uses. The more you practise, the more your character levels up! It also sorts it’s vocab lists by category, so you aren’t just learning random words, which is nice. (I just finished learning how to use regular verbs, and after that I’ll start with describing my emotions/thought in Spanish)

App #3: Quizlet

Back To School - What’s On My Phone?

This is an app that literally everyone should have. It basically is a community driven flashcard app. Need to practise vocab? Make a flashcard set, or see if someone else has on that topic already. Need to learn dates of the French Revolution? Make flashcards! It is really easy to use, and has a bunch of modes you can use to learn your topic, including multiple choice, writing it out, and matching (matching is great for learning dates in my opinion)

I used this app at least once a week last semester, so I definetly recommend it.

Miscellaneous

App #1: Sleep Cycle

Back To School - What’s On My Phone?

This app has literally made me into a morning person. It tracks your sleep pattern, and calculates the best time to wake you up! Set the limit on when you have to be awake, and the app will wake you up at the best time within 30 minutes of your limit. It tracks your movement in your sleep using either the movement censor or the microphone in your phone (you can choose which).

Not only that, I personally also really like looking at my graph of how I slept throughout the night.

Other apps you might want to put in your school folder:

Audio recorder (for lectures)

Office apps (word, powerpoint, excel, ect.), or another app that covers the same document types (for example, Polaris)

Calculator (I also recommend you check out Photomath if you’re doing any math related subjects)

And that’s the end of this post!

Like I said before, you probably already knew of most of these, but for those who didn’t I hope this was helpful! Any apps you’d recommend? Use the comments or reblog to let others know!

I need help. I live in a very abusive situation, with my parents and now my ex-girlfriend. My parents aren't bad now, but my ex keeps trying to come back, even to just be friends. I need not only advice, but support too

I’m not sure the entirety of your situation, but if it’s possible check if there are any lgbt groups in your area because they will sometimes have support groups that could help you, also I’m not aware of the past with your ex but if it was unhealthy or abusive I suggest you do your best to cut ties with her or do whatever is best for your mental and physical health, as for your parents if it gets bad you can report them if you feel safe doing so or you can seek out others in a similar scenario who may be able to offer advice on how to get through it until you can leave home, I would search through tumblr or online in general for some online support groups for abuse because there are some communities out there that can help.-Brianna

Would going on estrogen effect broad shoulders? I have really broad, fairly masculine shoulders and they make me really dysphoric.

Chrissi says:Unfortunately not my sweetpea…

Oestrogen does not alter your skeletal structure, unless taken pre puberty, and even then, if you have broad shoulders then it wont help you. I’m sorry lovely, there's a lot oestrogen can do, but it can’t do that… :(However, if they make you dysphoric, there are some things you can do to help with that.Here’s a Chrissi special top tips list peeps! ;

1. Emphasise your waist while balancing out your figure.

Think peplum, it cinches your waist but the flaring on the bottom balances out your shoulders. Also, omgosh pretty.

2. Avoid tops with detailing at the shoulders, or balance them out with volume on your lower half.

If you have a beautiful top with detail on the shoulder, pair it with a flowy skirt that balances out your shoulders and lower body.

3. Embrace the skater skirt, she’s your friend.

Skater skirts flare out to balance your lower body with your upper body, so even with a detailed top, proportions are balanced.

4. Yay to scoop and v-necks.

Wearing lower cut tops keeps the attention away from your shoulders, leading the eye down instead of from left to right.

5. Avoid structured shoulders and pads.

Shopping for the perfect blazer or jacket? Try finding one without structure or padding, or remove the pads for a sleeker look. If your favourite blazer or jacket is padded but awesome, pair with a flowy skirt or patterned pants to balance your lower half out.

6. Sport a long necklace.

Like v-neck tees, long necklaces bring the eye naturally downward.

7. Pair a dark top with light bottoms, creating the illusion of a narrower upper-half.

This doesn’t have to mean sticking to black on top and white on bottom, as long as the top is darker than the bottoms, your figure will appear more balanced.

8. When choosing tank tops and halter necks, the thicker the strap, the better.

The more material between the neck and shoulder, the smaller your shoulders will seem.

9. Know the types of tops that will accentuate the broadness of your shoulders.

Strapless and off-the-shoulder tops lead the eye to the shoulders, sometimes making them seem even wider than they naturally are. Avoid the extra attention by pairing one of these tops with a bottom that adds volume, or go for a full-bodied dress. Because sexy sexy sexy.

10. Make sure the seam lines on your shirts and jackets actually fall on the edge of your shoulder.

The seam lines on your shirts and jackets are made to fall on the edge of your shoulder, so if they’re anywhere closer in toward your neck, it will make your shoulders appear further extended.

11. Go for a diagonal cut sleeve, rather than horizontal.

Horizontal sleeves will add weight to your shoulders, while a diagonally cut sleeve will soften the area.

12. Choose jackets and cardigans that elongate your figure.

Cropped jackets look boxy, which can make your upper body look wide and short, accentuating your shoulders.

13. Sign yourself up for a drawer full of dolman sleeves.

A dolman top’s sleeve has a dropped seam and usually a wide top and narrow wrist opening. Due to the natural slouchiness of this garment and the dropped seam line, shoulders appear slouched downward, not outward.

14. Puffy sleeves, though cute as hell, will definitely draw eyes to your shoulders.

The puffiness extends the shoulder line and adds bulk to the top, so balance the perfect puffy-sleeved top with a patterned pair of bottoms or perhaps a skirt of a lighter colour than the top.

15. Invest in a kimono top.

The extra material in a kimono sleeve flares out past your shoulders to minimize them.

16. Choose dresses and tops with an empire line.

Empire lines cinch under the bust line, thus drawing attention to the smaller part of your torso rather than your shoulders. Dresses that are full and flared will give additional volume to your lower half, drawing the eye downward.

17. When sporting a collar or lapel, go for something thin and narrow.

For shirts and jackets: go collarless whenever possible to minimize attention to that area. For blazers: a narrow lapel will bring the attention down and in, whereas a wide lapel brings attention outward.

18. Trick an observer’s eye downward with detailed bottoms.

Embellished skirts or patterned pants paired with a plain top will bring the attention down low instead of up top. Ruffles, pleats, beading, lace, and patterns all fit the bill on this one.

19. If you’re going to wear skinny jeans, pair them with a plain top.

While glorious for boots weather, skinny jeans taper your lower body, making your top half look more voluminous. Pair with a v-neck tee or a top like the one above that draws attention downward and you’ll be good.

But honestly, do what works for you, girl.

Own it. Work it. Love it.

Hey, I've been having doubts about my gender. Like, I don't feel dysphoric all the time, and at the times I'm not, I just feel content with my body. Like I don't love or hate it, I just accept what it is for right now. But when dysphoria hits, its debilitating and the dysphoria is hitting harder than ever right now, but I can't transition or do anything because of transphobic family. Is it normal to experience fluctuating dysphoria also, tips for managing it while still basically closeted (mtf)

Yes. it’s normal for fluctuations to happen with dysphoria. We all have bad days, we all have good days.

So then, finding exceptions to the transphobic slogans help.

Only 2 sexes? Um, intersex people exist Body hair? Hair is common.Big frame? Uh… Exists. Gal Gadot is 5'10" Allison Janey is 5'11". And Lane Bryant exists so…Shoes? Sigh. There are specialty shoes sizes, and some stylish shoes can be uncomfortable so you’d be taking them off at your seat already. (I just want to mention that size outliers exist for other parts of wardrobes, and also condoms & I’d guess tampons. Those are usually tailors & prescriptions.)Reproduction? Growing a human population requires keeping ourselves alive too, so doing a job, babysitting, etc, those help too.Makeup? Do whatever, everything is an aesthetic if you find the words for it.

That being said other people suck, and we can’t control them. Therefore, like look for other things to do to adapt to this/them. Admittedly this part I don’t know much on.

However, I do have mental illness. So generally making a to-do & i-did list helps out a lot. Also journaling can help.[1]

and yeah, walking/hiking to where you’re constantly trying to decide on a path, breathing, learning stuff, doing puzzles, writing instructions for things, all of that can help. Video poker like those handheld games like on your phone can be nifty too.

Good Luck, Peace & Love,Eve

[1]If you’re worried about privacy for your journals I’d develop a short-hand of abbreviations. Personally, for mine I focused on the little words like by, to, of, -’s, anyway, so yeah, basically, like, just, which I turned to x, t, v, -z, anwa, s yh, bscly, lk, js. You would want to look up texting short-hand in different languages & mix & match them. Also consider doing creative spelling when forming your shorthand. If you do it good they’ll be distracted by all the short-hand & not get you’re writing in code. For proper nouns, basically make a word association with it, perhaps use emoji. If lacking emoji for that write “such&such emoji”. Rhyming slangs can help too.

TRANS WOMEN: HERE'S SOME SHIT YOUR DOCTOR WONT TELL YOU ABOUT HRT

1. Progesterone: not for everyone, but for many people it may increase sex drive and WILL make your boobs bigger. Also effects mood in ways that many find positive (but some find negative). Most doctors won’t prescribe this to you unless you ask. Most trans girls I know swear by it.

2. Injectible estrogen: is more effective than pill or patch form. Get on it if you can bear needles bc you will see more effects more quickly.

3. Estradiol Cypionate: There is currently a shortage of injectible estradiol valerate. There is no shortage of estradiol cypionate. Functionally they do the same shit.

4. Bicalutamide: This is an anti-androgen that has almost none of the side-effects of spironolactone or finasteride. The girls I know who are on it are evangelical about it.

I need some help with dysphoria. I'm not able to start E for about another year or two, but I'm really dysphoric about my hair in general. I haven't been able to grow it out, so that's one thing that bothers me, but also it's starting to recede and thin, and I need support and advice for preventing it as much as possible and cope with how much I've lost already. Sorry, long ask, its just really bothering me and worrying me.

Hi anon! I’m sorry you’re feeling nervous and dysphoric. I know that feeling and it really sucks.

If you’re able, I’d talk to your doctor about hair regrowth treatments. There are medications out there that can help slow or stop hair loss, depending on a few factors. Unfortunately, since I am not a doctor, I don’t know what drugs are good options for you or if there are any safe OTC drugs you could look into.

The good news is, there are trans women who had receded hairlines pre-E who have beautiful long, natural hair now. There are some examples of them in the Before and After tag.

I hope you’re able to get the help you need soon!

Tips for transgirls

I’ve seen so many of these posts for trans boys but never for the lovely ladies, so here are some tips to feel a bit more feminine if you’re not out

Glossy chapstick, if asked about it say you just have chapped lips and it works well, or if you want a tint and can stand it, those cheap Pepsi/cola chapstick make your lips looks red [you can make them very red or less depending on how much you use]

If your family isn’t to judgey you could wear foundation or just buy it for yourself and say you’re embarrassed about acne or a scar or something,

If you’re more into emo/goth culture thats a good excuse to grow out your hair/wear makeup

You could wear panties under your boxers and just do your own laundry, and buy a feminine outfit you can wear when by yourself, and/or girly sleeping clothes

You can get yourself a pink hello kitty shirt or pink backpack or something like little girls would wear and say you got it to be ironic

If you’ve got a close friend you could get matching rings/necklaces/bracelets and say it’s for friendship or a cute girl/boy made you a bracelet in class and it makes you happy to wear it [or lie about having a close friend and just wear the jewelry]

Spandex. Like the thing to hide your tummy? It accents curves real nice and you can wear it under so many things, or if you can’t do that cuz you’ll get found out get long underwear, like the long black shirt and pants you wear in winter? They work amazing too

Get your ears periced if you can

Write your self a message on you’re phone, using the correct pronouns, or get your backround to “you go, girl!” Or something like that and just say irony/ it was a friends prank and you wanna keep it/ it just empowers you Nd u couldn’t find a “you go, boy!”

Change your blog to be a bit more ‘girly’ and make ur videogame characters girls and use your preferred name!! You can just say its supposed to be a random person or a celebrity really of you want

And get yourself a notebook and write about yourself in like third person using your preferred name and pronouns and if found just say your writing a story or it’s for school

Wear longer socks that cover your calf cause they cover your legs if you can’t shave them

Shave your legs if you can, if not your arms and armpits [just say you sweat a lot and that would help ]

Wear girls deordeant if you can

Use lotion. Sounds simple but rlly, mosteruise after you shower, soft skin and plus thats thought of a more feminine activity, plus u can get you some really nice smelling stuff and just says it works well or you didn’t realize it was that strong when you got it or didn’t realise it would smell like that at all

Pinching your cheeks makes them a bit blushy [not for that long] but you could do it when meeting people and such

Get a cute stuffed animal for your bed and just say its from a girl/boy you like or irony

Blow dry your hair instead of towel dry, it makes your hair fluffy and soft

Use girls shampoo or body wash

Wear light colors

Wear tighter clothes or floral things

And remember you are a girl whether you’re out or not or if people believe you

[Feel free to add on and if you have questions or anything, just message me, lovelies!! ♡]
