I made this struggling little moth for this article in today's New York Times Op-Ed pages. It's about the ongoing battle on women's reproductive health and the author's frustration over the fact that this debate still goes on.
Thanks to AD Matt Dorfman!
Andrea you deserve the buffalo much more than I do, you work is intimating and excellent!
Thank you! but I don't know about that! Your work is amazing!! I think The Buffalo is an honor to be shared after all...perhaps it should become the new Grammy or -insert award here- of art blogs?
it’s hard to make candied apples if you’re not exactly corporeal…
Last preview for now! Gotta leave some surprises for the rest of the book! #cauldronsandcasseroles
Here's a strip I recently completed for Benn Ray of Atomic Books' "Said What?" collection of over-heards. You can read more strips by various artists on the Mutant Funnies blog.
Here's a poster design for an upcoming showing of The Neverending Story here in Baltimore hosted by Pizza Party Printing. It's gonna be so much fun and y'all wish you could be there! & by that I mean I wish you could be there ♥
The AURYN is going to grace the back of the t-shirt version of this! Check back soon for the link where you can pick up one of those for your own!

hello! i'm a new follower of your lovely work. i noticed that you illustrate/paint using gouache but do you also work digitally? i find it hard to tell, even your illustration for meg hunt's art for japan could have passed for a digital piece with all the neat brushes out there. and i thought that your recent post might be digital but i'm not too sure anymore hehe. either way, i very much admire your work. it's truly inspirational.
Hello! I love new followers (just love you guys!), and thanks very much! Yes, you were on the right track, my most recent post is all digital. I work both with gouache and digitally pretty evenly most of the time, though if the frequency were to lean towards one or the other it would be digital actually. It's neat to know that that's not terribly apparent!
I created my own cover illustration of William Gibson’s Neuromancer (one of my favorites) for Atomic Book’s “Jackets and Sleeves” show. Up for just a little while longer at Atomic!
Recently, I was invited to take part in Scout Books GOOD INK: American Shorts. Their series of small books telling classic short stories are each illustrated by one of many talented artists, and it's exciting to be included among them. My story, The Isle of Voices by Robert Louis Stevenson, entails giant warlocks, disembodied voices, and magic shells. Here are a couple of the illustrations that you'll find in the book. Keep an eye out for it in bookstores soon!
I did this piece for an article in the New York Times about how a survivor of domestic abuse is drawn to listening to true crime podcasts. You can read the article online here.
