When you get too English teacher-y and almost write symbolism of Kieran Valentine being a blade of grass

I love how the Kieran Valentine and specifically the Love Spell (Kieran x Spelldon) fandom has flourished in the past few years

Like I remember like 3 years ago looking on AO3 for fanfics and there were two. Only two fanfics, and one of them was in Spanish, and once I finished the English one, i went and put the Spanish one through an online translator so that I could read about kieran Valentine and his never-debuted witch crush

And now, as of December 26th, 2023, at 6 PM Eastern Standard, there are 27. More than 2 dozen. If you read one chapter of each a day, it would take you (yes I did the math) 89 days. 3 months.

Which is 1012% higher than when I started writing

That’s insane. Just in 3 years there’s been so much growth and it’s such a nice little niche

Valentine is a morning person and he loves watching the sunrise and making breakfast for Spelldon and being productive

Spelldon sleeps like the dead and would never wake up if he didn’t have an alarm (ie valentine) to wake him up

Valentine has a Romanian accent when he speaks English and an Irish accent when he speaks Latin

Regulus:

-They use he/they pronouns

-Trans

-Loves writing and reading (preferably poems)

-Would’ve been a philosopher if he didn’t die

-He wanted a friend group like the marauders

-They miss the old times with Sirius, even though their childhood wasn’t easy

-Wears a lot of rings

-Could’ve been good friends with Lily

-He loved James, but broke up with him when he became a death eater

-They play the violin and piano

-A troublemaker but never got caught

-Barty had a crush on him

-They have the pretties eyes

-Kinda likes politics but would never have gotten into it because of his family

-Used to hand random Gryffindors letters to give them to Sirius so they could stay in contact, even after Sirius left him

-They almost got into Ravenclaw

-They also love fantasy books, he uses them as an escape from reality

-He wanted to leave Grimmauldplace with Sirius but was too afraid

-Never hated Sirius or agreed with their family’s views/opinions

-Has trauma from his childhood and teenage years

-Loves making daisy chains

-They can be really sassy

-Made fun of his mother with Sirius behind her back

-They are interested in everything muggle related (like history, fashion, art, music, etc.) and thought muggles were cool

-Often was jealous of James because Sirius considered him as his brother

-They always wanted to grow out their hair just like his big brother did

-The last thing they thought about was the love for Sirius and James

-Was liked by all teachers

-Amazing imagination

-Is fascinated by astronomy and astrology

-They craved a normal brotherhood between him and Sirius

-Holding up their pinky while drinking black tea

-Threw things at Sirius when they were bored

-When Sirius wanted to spend time with the marauders on holidays, Regulus covered up for him

-Obsessed with record players

-Is scared to show emotion in front of others

-When Gryffindor goals in Quidditch, they slightly clap so no one notices

-Had a lot of hiding places in the Black House

-Andromeda sometimes brought him stuff from the muggle word

-Their favorite animals are cats

-After Sirius left he often looked at his star constellation

-Gives loads of compliments to people

-They crave physical affection

-All he wanted was hugs and forehead kisses

If there’s one thing to expect from me, you bet I’ll implicate Kieran Valentine in random historical events

I don’t know the exact timeline of the movies or how the comics fit in with them, BUT

if Spelldon offered to “keep [Val] up on the groanings” around monster high, would he know about the events of certain movies/other comics? Does he know about what Lilith did? Or Kala?

Did he know about Whisp before they met? Did he already know what she did and let her say her piece anyway?

when are you dropping the val backstory? I AM STARVING FOR VALENTINE CONTENT

Bro don’t even bring that up 😭😭 It’s moving along much slower than I thought it would (I thought I’d be done by April 😬).

I’m also considering rewriting bits of it to speed everything up and possibly increase its reception. The first half is pre-Rome, so it’s very OC heavy and I don’t know what the response to that will be. I want the story to be good more than anything because once it’s out there, there’s no real getting to start over.

With my pace and the story I have, i haven’t even written Kieran’s death yet. The fic come out at some point. I’m hoping that I’ll have more time now that school is over, but then again, if I force myself to write it, it’ll be a chore and the story will suffer.
