Is it already a theory that Zhao is Azulon's bastard child? Because this goes nicely with the theory that Lo and Li are Azulon's concubines. It would also explain why Zhao is so weirdly competitive with Zuko. Zhao also doesn't seem to respect Ozai much, either, come to think of it. He takes weird joy in the thought of humiliating Zuko and how it reflects badly on Ozai ("your father raised a coward.") There's an interesting backstory there.
What's also interesting is that Zhao says this about Zuko's inability to finish him off, which is what Ozai would want him to do, but Zuko is following his own instincts, the ones that got him banished by Ozai.
I would hate to be the guard that got taken out by a bucket of water. Imagine explaining that to your superiors.
The Blue Spirit putting out firebending with a bucket of water is the absolute funniest thing ever done in avatar combat. It just is.

I keep seeing these cute edits that have the quote “some friendships are so strong they can even transcend lifetimes” or whatever the actual quote is. So it shows a picture of aang and zuko then a picture of korra and zuko and aang and katara and korra and katara and aang and iroh then korra and iroh and it’s cute yk i like it but then they show a picture of toph and aang then instead of korra and toph they show a picture of liN AND TENZIN?? THATS GENERATIONS NOT LIFETIMES?? IT MAKES ME SO MAD EVERY TIME
Gosh dammit muffin! Now I can't get the idea of long haired andorogynous zuko out of my head, and I'm like "what if he'd never done the bald ponytail thing and just let his hair grow back, so by the show he had long ass hair" and then I was like "what if he joined the gaang after crossroads and figured that the best way to go incognito was as a woman since people were looking for the PRINCE. Anyway now i'm staring down a blank google doc so thx.

when Zuko first becomes the Fire Lord, all the other nations are, of course, not super excited that the previous Fire Lord’s SON is on the throne. I mean, seriously Aang, didn’t we JUST fight a war to get rid of this guy’s father? why would we expect his son to be any different?
He is, Aang says. You’ll see.

this was…kind of a warmup writing exercise that I ended up liking more than I thought I would, so enjoy?
Aang: A lost prince, a ghost prince, a prince who will never take the throne. A palace with open windows; a fountain that has run dry. He carries an unused blade at his side, its hilt wrapped in cloth instead of leather.
Katara: A queen with too many connections, weaving a web of human life. A satchel lying open on her desk, spilling medicines and poisons over the floor. Folded letters in her cloak. Healer’s hands, stained with blood. A dagger she chooses not to draw.

after getting fed up of hearing sokka gently implore zuko to consider “using logic and reason to solve his problems” for the umpteenth time, zuko decides that instead of actually giving serious consideration to this all but impossible advice, he will simply name his swords Logic and Reason, and that’s that problem solved. sokka’s only response is to roll his eyes and deadpan, “wow, I bet you think you’re very clever.”
of course, zuko does think he’s very clever, and so he brags about it in a letter to katara, who finds it equally hilarious. and when the time comes for sokka to make the same plea to katara (which doesn’t take long, mind you) she just says, “but I already do solve all my problems with logic and reason,” and holds up two fists. sokka is even less impressed the second time around, because it’s not even an original joke.
and then suki gets involved. meet her fans, Logic and Reason. and toph’s two giant boulders, which, when she crushes them together, create the center at which ideas meet. not to mention mai’s knives, among which are Thinking Things Through, Rationality, and Common Sense.
it is one day that azula laments that she wishes people would employ logic & reason more often and sokka, sick to death of this joke that was barely funny the first time, goes “oh, let me guess, they’re these two giant bodyguards who shoot lava out of their hands.” and azula’s just like “no wtf??? it’s the process of using critical thinking to make decisions????”
sokka’s like “really?? it’s not the tiny knives in your hair or various poisons or anything like that???” and azula seems genuinely concerned that he’s hit his head on a very hard surface. at which point sokka must acquiesce to the fact that azula might be his sole ally in this matter, which truly defies all logic and reason.
Book 2 au with Zuko and Katara Lee and Huamei
Katara is separated from her friends, and so she's left to travel the earth kingdom on her own. She stumbles across Zuko, who is similarly travelling on his own. They decide that pairing up and travelling together would be best

Zutara Week 2022 Day 1: Tradition
Unfortunately this is the only prompt I was able to get done this year. I really wish I had been able to do them all (it’s tragic because I even have some roughs for mini animatics for almost every day ToT who knows maybe I’ll finish them one of these days), but alas I ran out of time and energy just getting off of a project and being in my 9th month of pregnancy. But hey wouldn’t it be fun if my baby was born during this year’s Zutara Week. lol Anywho, just a very short little mini-animatic for this prompt.
