MEMORIES AND FAMILY
prologue (part one of idk)
โS okay, youโre safe, youโre safe.
You breathed heavily, panicked as yet another nightmare jolted you awake. Joel held the back of your head, whispering reassurances that the clickers that ripped your arteries out were just a part of your permanently anxious subconscious. You looked at your best friend, tears brimming in your eyes, yet you managed a weak, reassuring smile that you were better.ย
Same nightmare? Joel asked. You nodded, breathing in through your nose.ย
Yeah, but โs okay, Joel, she whispered, as to not wake Ellie. The teenage redhead stirred slightly, rolling over in her sleeping bag.ย
You sure, sweet pea? Joel asked. You nodded.ย
Weโre in the middle oโ nowhere, Joel. No clickers gonna find us here. Joel rolled his eyes and sighed, nodding at her to signal she should fall asleep. You lied back down, letting out a long breath before closing your eyes, the small fire crackling lowly.ย
The next morning, the smell of stale coffee filled the forest air, and you woke up as Ellie groaned disgustedly.
ย How do you drink this stuff? She covered herself with the blanket, trying to block the earthy smell from her nose. You sat up groggily, and smiled at Joel, who was busy mumbling grumpily under his breath about how coffee is the best thing anyone could ever drink and cooking a can of Chef Boyardeeโs Ravioli on the makeshift camping stove. You yawned, and got up, rolling your sleeping bag up to prepare for another day of walking.ย
Cโmon, honey. โS time to get up. After we eat, weโre off. You said, nudging Ellie, who was still buried in her blanket. The teenager glared playfully at you before slowly rising, following suit as she put her stuff back in her pack. Joel whistled a high note from where he was cooking, and waved the two girls over.
ย Cโmon, eat before this food gets cold. Joel said, handing them both small travel plates filled with a rationed serving of the food. Ellie ate quickly, practically breathing in the pasta.
ย Calm down, kiddo. Food ainโt goinโ anywhere. Joel laughed, and Ellie flipped him off playfully.ย
Itโs going in my stomach. She said, and Joel shrugged. You finished your food, smiling at the small family the three had become over the past 8 months. What started off as a simple job evolved into a bond that you didnโtย think could ever be replicated. After the group finished eating, they started again on their journey to find the Fireflies. For a while, the walk was quiet, save for the occasional stumble or painfully corny joke told by Ellie.ย
Hey, I know you guys donโt really like talking about before, but what was your favorite food? Ellie asked curiously. You laughed, and Joel smiled.ย
Our favorite food? Joel grinned, raising an eyebrow. Ellie sighed.ย
Fine, sorry I asked, old man. You let out a low whistle.ย
Wow, right for the jugular, huh, kid? You laughed.ย
I donโ know about you, Joel, but I used to absolutely love Pop-Tarts. Ellie looked confused.ย
Whatโs a Pop-Tart? You sighed dreamily, and looked up at the forest canopy.ย
A Pop-Tart was thisโฆ packaged pastry. It had frosting on the top, anโ a filling inside. The best flavor was Strawberry, anโ no-one can tell me otherwise. You shook her head, smiling. Joel scoffed.ย
Pop-Tarts were just straight sugar. Provided nothinโ for anyoneโs health. You rolled your eyes.ย
Oh, fine, Mr. Health Nut. What was your favorite food, then? You challenged him playfully. Joel sighed, thinking.ย
Well, Iโd hafta say the pancakes I used to get at the IHop near where my house was. They were softer than a cloud, anโ when you put syrup on them-
Anโ you say I was unhealthy?
Hush up, will you? Never said I got โem every day.
Ellie smirked at the banter, and for a moment, it was as if they were simply on a camping trip, rather than a mission to potentially create a cure using Ellieโs blood.
A couple weeks later, the trio were walking through an old military camp from one of the first days of the Outbreak. You were quiet, your shoulders tensed. Ellie walked slightly ahead, and Joel walked with his best friend.ย
You alright, sweet pea? He asked quietly. You nodded.ย
Yeah, โm fine. Just.. โs weird beinโ here. Like a time capsule, but the size of a city block. You looked around. The tarp tents looked almost pathetic, in a way, as well as innocent. You scoffed, walking past the flimsy metal fence.ย
Canโt believe we all thought weโd be safe in tarp tents. You shook your head, and Joel smiled softly.ย
Yeah, I guess it is pretty ridiculous. The two went quiet, until Joel broke the silence again.ย
Where were you? He asked. At your confused expression, he clarified his question.ย
I mean, when the outbreak happened. You looked away, and at Ellie, who was looking at old binders.ย
I was at home, in New Orleans. My mom left me anโ my 14-year old brother home alone while she went on a trip to Cancun with her boyfriend. I panicked, as we didnโt exactly have a car. We ended up packinโ one bag each anโ hopped on our bikes. We were goinโ as far as we could, anโ barely left the neighborhood when this Runner comes outta god-knows-where, anโ barrels into my brother. Instead oโ tryinโ to fight the said runner, I kept goinโ until I got to one oโ these camps like a coward. You went quiet, biting your lip to prevent the tears that threatened to fall. Joel put a hand on her shoulder.ย
No, no, no, sweet pea. That ainโt your fault. You werenโ a coward. Thatโs another level oโ bravery. You couldnโt control where Runners came out from, or- or where your brother was at a specific moment in time. Joel said reassuringly, and Ellie walked over before you could respond.
ย I think weโre getting close to the Fireflies, Joel. I found a stop sign with their symbol on it. Ellie said, jutting a thumb in the general direction of the said sign. You breathed in, looking at Joel and nodding.ย
Well, letโs not keep โem waitinโ, right? She said, smiling softly. Ellie smiled, and walked off, the two adults following her. Ellie turned back toward the two, and in her hand was No Pun Intended: Volume Too.ย
I think, since Iโm about to save the world, we need some jokes before I become too famous and never have time to talk to you two. Ellie grinned, and Joel rolled his eyes, nodding at her to continue. Ellie dramatically opened the book, clearing her throat.
People are making apocalypse jokes like thereโs no tomorrow. She said, and you grimaced jokingly.ย
Too soon? Ellie tilted her head.ย
No, itโs topical, Joel butted in, smiling. Ellie flipped through a few other pages, until she grinned comically.ย
Why did the scarecrow get an award? Ellie asked, looking expectantly at the two. Joel rolled his eyes.ย
Uhโฆ he wasโฆ outstanding in his field. Joel and you laughed at Ellieโs shocked expression.ย
Did you read this? Ellie exclaimed incredulously. Joel shook his head, and you smiled. Suddenly, a click, followed by a hiss sounded behind them. Joel looked behind them, and spotted an air bomb. He quickly ducked, pushing you and Ellie to the ground as the boom filled the air, along with gas. You blinked, your ears ringing. You swore you heard Ellie yelling in the distance, but it sounded so far away. You started to get up, feeling dizzy, before you felt the hard butt of a gun connect with your skull.
You jolted awake, the overgrown outdoors replaced with an aged hospital room. You sat up, and Marlene sat in the chair, one leg up.
ย Take it slow, You. My guys didnโt know who you were. You got hit pretty hard. You looked at Marlene, confused as to where Joel and Ellie were.ย
Where am I? You asked, your voice hoarse. Marlene looked at the guard that stood at the door.ย
St. Maryโs Hospital. She replied. You looked around.
Care to explain where Joel anโ Ellie are? She narrowed her eyes slightly. Marlene crossed her arms, matching her expression.ย
Joelโs still asleep. As for Ellie.. sheโs just starting to wake up. You looked at her for a moment.ย
Can you take me to โem, or you gonna make me sit here anโ wait for the next moon landing? Marlene sighed.ย
I can take you to Joel. But not Ellie.ย
Anโ why exactly is that?
Marlene closed her eyes. I donโt want her seeing anyone before surgery. She said the last word gently, almost meek in a way. You stood up. What the he- She was cut off by the guard, who pushed her to the ground. Marlene glared at him before nodding at the door. He took the hint and resumed his post.ย
The doctors think that the cordyceps Ellie has have mutated. The cordyceps that tried infecting her when she got bit think sheโs a cordycep, and itโs why sheโs immune. If we can extract it from her, the doctors can replicate the mutation and- and make a cure. Your eyes widened slightly, the realization dawning on you.
Cordyceps grow inside the brain. She whispered. Marlene nodded.ย
Find someone else.
ย If I could, I would, but there is no one else. You looked down.
ย So, youโre goinโ to kill her. For what, a 30% chance of this thing workinโ? Marlene scoffed, and put her head in her hand.ย
30% is better than 0, isnโt it? You glared at Marlene.ย
You take me to her right now! To both of โem. You raised your voice, standing up. Marlene pulled her gun out of her holster, and aimed it at you.
Donโt make a stupid choice, You. You did your job. Let us do ours. Marlene warned. You took a step back.ย
I didnโt know this job entailed killinโ a dang kid, Marlene.
Marlene lowered her gun, and looked at the guard. Make sure she doesnโt leave this place. She said sternly, and the guard nodded.
Next thing you knew, the sound of gunshots echoed through the hospital hall, and the guard at your door fell to the ground, limp. Joel opened the door, and pulled you into a quick hug, handing her the worn pack.ย
Cโmon, letโs go get our girl, huh? Joel said, giving you a shotgun. You smiled.ย
Gladly, cowboy. The two charged through the hospital, shooting any Firefly that they came across. Quickly, Joel led You to the pediatric department, and they barged into the operating room. Gun aimed, they stared at the doctor and two nurses.ย
All oโ you, turn around and put your hands up. You sternly said. The nurses followed orders, but the doctor panicked, picking up a scalpel.ย
I- I canโt let you take her. He shakily said. Joel lifted his pistol and shot him, the nurses yelping fearfully. Joel quickly picked Ellie up off the table, disconnecting the various tubes from her arms. You quickly stopped the bleeding on your arm by putting on a few bandaids. The two quickly hurried out of the hospital, and headed down to the parking garage on the ground floor. You spotted an SUV, and they started to jog toward it, until a certain Firefly came around the corner.ย
Joel, you donโt want to do this. Marlene said, her pistol raised. Joel stopped walking, and you stood slightly in front of him.ย
You can still do the right thing. Both of you. Marlene breathed.ย
We donโt kill kids. Anโ either way, a little girlโs fate ainโt yours to decide, Marlene. You shook your head, and Marlene narrowed her eyes.ย
It isnโt yours to decide either. ย At that, Joelโs eyes flickered with acknowledgment.ย
And you know it. Marlene tilted her head, tears in her eyes. You looked back at Joel.ย
Go get her in the car, cowboy. You said. Joel shook his head, about to protest.ย
Iโll be right behind you. Promise.ย
Joel sighed, and reluctantly turned around, hurrying to the SUV. Once he was gone, you turned back to Marlene.ย
He doesnโt know, does he-
That ainโt any of your business. Anyways, Joel and I got places to be. So, Iโm afraid that Iโm gonna have to kill you now.
Marleneโs eyes widened, and she took a step back, but before she got far, you shot her in the stomach. For a few moments, she begged for mercy, blood smeared on the ground.
Youโd just come after her.
You and Joel sat in the front seats of the SUV, quiet. Joel rested his head on one hand as he drove, and you struggled to stay awake despite the sunniness. You and Joel both looked in the rear view mirror as they heard Ellie stir. The redhead sat up slowly, groggy from the anesthesia.
What happened?
You looked away from the rearview mirror, and Joel carried the conversation, framing the careful lie the two adults had crafted as truth. Ellie looked too tired and drained to be physically distraught, but the glint that faded from her eyes said it all. She let out a soft oh and lied back down on the backseat, facing the backrest and going back to sleep. Joel looked at you, who shrugged silently. He looked back at the road, and the rest of the drive out of Salt Lake City was silent.
TEN MILES AWAY FROM JACKSON, WYOMING
Joel huffed annoyedly, lifting his head from the hood of the old car.ย
Well, looks like sheโs tapped out. Gonna have to walk the rest of the way. Should only be a few hours though. Weโve done worse.
You smiled at your best friend, and nodded at Ellie.ย
Cโmon, kiddo. Donโt wanna be the last one back to civilization, right?
You said, and Ellie looked up from her scar, grinning. If Ellie was one thing, it was competitive. The two girls raced to the creek, and then to the tree they used to climb up onto the hill. Joel caught up, and they all started walking toward Jackson.ย
Hey, wait.
You and Joel looked back at Ellie. Your smile dropped at Ellieโs somber expression, and she turned fully toward the teenager.
Back in Bostonโback when I was bittenโI wasn't alone. My best friend was there. And she got bit too. We didn't know what to do. Soโฆ She says, "Let's just wait it out. Y'know, we can be all poetic and just lose our minds together." I'm still waiting for my turn.
Joel looked at Ellie sadly, and shook his head.ย
None of that is on you, Ellie.
You nodded in support of his statement, and spoke up.
Both of us struggled for a long, long time with survivinโ. But no matter what, you keep findinโ something to fight for. Now that might not be what you wanna-
Swear to me. Both of you. Swear to me that everything you said about the Fireflies is true.
You looked taken aback, as did Joel. But after a moment, they both nodded, and promised her. Ellie nodded slightly, and she hesitated for a minute, analyzing them. Finally, she sighed.ย
Okay.

Rain poured in sheets over Seattle, swallowing the city's broken skyline in a haze of grey. You and Dina had been on the move for hours, darting through ruins in search of supplies. Ellie had gone ahead to scout, but you and Dina had been tasked with clearing the east wing of an old hotelโthe one that creaked like it could collapse any second.
Dina's flashlight flickered across the hallway as she glanced back at you. โYou good?โ
โPeachy,โ you replied, offering her a crooked smile. You tried to play it off, but your heart was thudding. Not from fear of infectedโbut from her.
She was beautiful, even in the worst of it. Eyes sharp and warm, always alert. Lips youโd stared at too long. And though the two of you had never said it, not in words, it was always there between you. In the glances. The lingering touches. The way her hand would sometimes brush yours, and neither of you would pull away.
The hotelโs moan interrupted your thoughts.
โI hear something,โ Dina said. Her voice dropped to a whisper. โBasement. You go left, Iโll loop right?โ
You nodded, heart sinking.
Five minutes later, you were pinned between a pair of infected and a failing security door. Dina shouted through the radioโshe was on the other side, but the horde was between you now. You ran, feet slamming into wet tile, until you hit the emergency lockdown switch on instinct.
The door began to close.
โ(Y/N)!โ Dinaโs voice crackled. She was closeโtoo close.
You looked back. She was sprinting, eyes wild, arm outstretched. Behind you, the infected closed in.
โNo!โ she screamed. โDonโt close it! Iโm right here!โ
Your hand hovered over the override.
โI love you,โ you whisperedโtoo quiet for her to hear. โThatโs why.โ
Then you hit the button. The door slammed shut, cutting off her scream.
Her fists pounded the metal as you stumbled back, already pulling your knife. The infected rounded the corner and you screamed her name once before the fight swallowed you whole.
Thenโblack.
You woke up in a truck bed outside the city, barely breathing, ribs broken, blood caking your clothes. A patrol had found youโbut you didnโt ask where Dina was. You were too ashamed.
She thought you were dead.
Good.
Let her hate you. Let her move on. Because at least she was alive.
You spent weeks healing. Every day felt like penanceโuntil one morning, unable to carry the weight of her absence, you did what you swore you wouldnโt.
You went back to Jackson.
You looked nothing like yourself. Thinner. Bruised. Limps where there werenโt any before. You didnโt expect to be recognized.
But she was thereโDinaโon the watchtower.
When she saw you, she froze. Her rifle slipped from her shoulder, clattering to the floor. Then she was running.
You barely had time to open your arms before she crashed into you.
And then her fist slammed into your jaw.
You hit the ground, dazed. Her scream pierced the air.
โYou selfish piece of shit!โ
You didnโt get up.
โYou left me! I begged youโbeggedโand you shut that door anyway!โ
โI had to,โ you croaked. โThey wereโโ
โI donโt care!โ she shouted, sobbing now. โYou let me think you were dead. Every day, I thoughtโI thoughtโโ
She collapsed beside you, fists clenched.
โI couldn't lose you,โ you whispered.
โYou lost me anyway.โ
Silence stretched. Only your broken breathing and her sobs remained.
Then, quietly, she asked, โDid you mean it?โ
โWhat?โ
She looked at you, her eyes wet and furious. โWhen you said you loved me.โ
You didnโt answer with words.
You sat up, ignoring the pain, and kissed her.
Not soft. Not sweet.
It was angry. Raw. Desperate.
And when you broke apart, gasping for air, she grabbed your jacket and pulled you into her arms like she couldnโt let go.
โI hate you,โ she whispered.
โI know.โ
โI love you more.โ
Dina let you stay with her. Said it was temporary. Said you were still on thin ice. But every night, she made room for you in her bed.
Every morning, her arm stayed wrapped around your waist long after the alarm went off.
She never said she forgave you. But she stopped flinching when you touched her. She stopped looking away when you said her name.
You learned to talk again. About what happened. About why. And one night, when the wind howled outside and the fire crackled low, she reached across the gap between you and saidโ
โYou donโt get to leave again.โ
You swallowed hard. โI wonโt.โ
โYou promise?โ
โI swear.โ
She pressed her forehead to yours. โThen Iโll stay too.โ
Seattle had taken so much from you both. But what it couldnโt takeโwhat it never couldโwas this.
The choice to love.
To stay.
To come back, no matter how broken.
Because in the end, love wasnโt in the sacrifice. It was in the fight.
And youโd fight for her. Every single time.
Would it be possible for you to do anything about Dina? Totally fine if not, I just never see anything about her at all ๐ญ
If so, would you be able to do something about R just being reeeally protective towards her, almost akin to like- a guard dog or something . Just always following her around, hard to not find Dina without them , literally the nicest to Dina but as soon as anyone gets in the way theyโre all glares and ugly looks.
But Dina has no idea what people are talking about when they bring it up to her, because what do you mean ?? Theyโre so sweet!
And maybe she does know and just chooses to do nothing about it because she finds it cute or funny.
(also really glad youโre back, make sure you still feel like you can take time for yourself tho!)

Dina shivered as she walked into Ellies house. She quickly shut the door behind her, trying to not let anymore of the cold air in.
Dina hated winter. When it started snowing in Jackson she would gather as much food as she could and she would stay in the warmth her house. She would not leave for anything. She would wrap herself in blankets and she'll sit in front of the fireplace in her home.
The only time anyone would ever see Dina during winter is when the snow starts to smelt and flowers start blooming again.
Dina slipped off her jacket as she wrapped her arms around herself. Despite Dina practically hugging herself she still felt cold.
Maybe you'd be able to keep her warm.
No.
fuck.
She cant think of you in that way.
You were just friends.
Just friends.
'But friends don't cuddle. Friends don't shower together. friends don't-'
Dina's thoughts were interrupted by Ellie's voice: "fucking finally"
Before Dina could talk she heard Jesse say: "we know you hate the cold but you took like 5 fucking hours to get here"
"you guys are being overdramatic" Dina rolled her eyes as she took of her boots.
It's been a while since the 3 of them hung out alone.
Ellie was always hooking up with someone, Jesse was always patrolling and Dina was always with you.
"I'm surprised you didn't bring your girl with" Jesse told her with a smirk.
Dina's brows furrowed "my girl?"
"yeah" Ellie laughed.
"your guard dog"
"guard dog?" Dina asked in confusion.
"I don't know what you're talking about"
Ellie and Jesse's jaws hung open.
"You don't see it?"
"see what?"
"dude you're stupid" Jesse sighs.
-
You and Dina had gotten ready together. The two of were walking down the road and you held onto her arm gently.
Dina would never admit it out loud but she liked it when you did that. She liked it when you were so close to her. It made her feel safe.
You checked the surroundings while keeping an eye on Dina. Even though Jackson was extremely safe you still couldn't help looking after her.
You were subtle in the way you cared for her. You liked Dina a lot, and you had hoped that she'd catch on. It's been years and she still hasn't noticed anything.
To protect your friendship you decided to settle on just looking after her.
You were possessive, protective over what you wanted. But clearly Dina noticed nothing so your actions were in vain. (Or so you thought).
Dina walked into the bar first and she felt your presence close behind her. (You always followed her around and when the two of you were separated you still kept and eye on her)
Rumors spread around Jackson that the two of you were dating.
Dina has heard them. She liked the rumors hoping that any girl interested in you would believe it and leave you alone but she also doesn't know who or what the source of the rumors were.
She didn't realize it, but it was you. The way you looked at her, protected her, you scared everyone away from her. She didn't see it.
Fucking idiot.
Dina went to Ellie and she hugged her. You stayed close behind her glaring at the two.
'You can't be jealous. It's not fair' you kept telling yourself.
The feelings you had for Dina just grew stronger and stronger and they were threatening to reveal themselves.
Dina slid into the booth first and you slid in after, immediately wrapping your arm around her shoulder glaring at anyone who even looks at her.
Ellie stared at scene before her. There was clearly something going on between the two of you but you both denied it.
Ellie thought you were both really stupid.
The conversation flowed easily between the three of you, but eventually Dina had to go to the bathroom. You moved out the booth and Dina made her way to the bathroom.
"Hi"
Dina's head turned to see a beautiful red head giving her a small smile.
"hi" Dina smiled shyly.
"my name is-"
Before she could even utter her name you walked in
"There you are" you said as you walked towards her ignoring the girl.
You took Dina's hand and you looked at the girl.
"Sorry" she muttered and she walked away.
Dina frowned "why was she saying sorry"
You glared at the girl before you turned back to Dina, your grip on her hand tightened.
"I don't know" you shrugged as you kissed her temple.
-
"She was just protecting me" Dina's blushed.
"protecting you? All she had to do was pee on you to mark her territory because damn"
Dina felt butterflies erupt in her stomach.
Maybe there was more to your behavior
"It was probably a one time thing" Dina argued.
"one time?" Jesse said dramatically.
"She's always holding you. A arm around your shoulders or waist, she never leaves you alone, she follows you around like a dog... she's in love with you!"
Dina drowned out Ellie and Jesse's voices.
Everything she heard can't be a coincidence right.... right?
She wrapped her arms around herself once again
Maybe you were just protective.
But maybe, just maybe you felt the same way.
<3

authors note: on a serious note we need more dina fics, she's sooooo fine but so underrated and it's so sad
masterlist
"Earth to Dina"
"huh?"
"Dina are you ok?" Ellie asked concerned at her friends spaced out expression.
"I'm fine"
no she wasn't.
Dina was not fine.
She was fucking fuming. Why? Because you were giving someone else attention.
Dina had always wanted to be a cheerleader. Ever since she was a little girl, she watched countless videos on YouTube for cheer routines, and she memorized them all.
As soon as she became a freshman in high-school she immediately auditioned, and as if god was on her side she became the caption and she stayed the caption up until her senior year.
She fucking loved to cheer.
The makeup, the routines, the crowd screaming for them.
For her.
God she loved it all the attention. She loved all the people around her, people praising her, and telling her that she did a good job.
Dina was the classic popular girl and as clichรฉ as it was, this was who she was and she loved every fucking second of it.
It was like no other day.
She stood at the entrance of the field, watching the football teams run out.
She observed the other cheer teams standing next to hers, they were pretty, but surely they weren't as talented.
The whistle blew and a grin spread on to Dina's face, as she jogged out the massive doors, her squad running behind her.
The crowd cheered as the girls came out, and Dina proudly raised her pompoms, shaking them slightly.
Her gaze fell onto the crowd, as she tried spotting people wearing the schools colors but her eyes fell on you.
woah.
She's never seen you before.
Holy fucking shit.
For the rest of the night, Dina's eyes lingered on you.
Every time they had to perform, she always kept and eye on you, hoping you'd make eye contact.
You never looked her way.
You wanted to but you were scared.
You'd only join the school a month ago and you remembered on your first day of school, you saw her.
The pretty girl with the dark hair.
That's what you called her until you were told her name was Dina.
Dina. Dina. Dina. Dina Dina.
She was all you could think about.
Everywhere you went there was a reminder of Dina.
You saw a bow? Dina wears bows.
You saw someone wearing blue? Dina always wears blue converse.
You wanted to talk to her so fucking bad, but you couldn't. Every time you got close to her it felt like you were going to piss yourself.
You made her a paper flower one day, hoping you'd be able to give it to her. You'd hype up yourself in the mirror but as soon as you saw her, the confidence you once felt fell away.
"C'mon lets go" your friend Abby begged. She'd been asking you to the football game all week but you weren't in the mood for the loud crowds and all the screaming.
"let me stay home dude" you replied
"Dina will be there"
That's all you needed to hear. You raced to get ready, and you put on a orange jumper hoping the bright color might catch Dina's attention.
You sat on the field with hundreds of other people, you anxiously waited for her, you realized that her seeing you would be unlikely due to the amount of people that filled the seats.
All you remember was the crowd cheering and Dina jogging out, wearing her blue converse. There was a grin on her face as her team followed her and she looked fucking perfect.
As hard as you tried not to look at her you couldn't help it.
She stood in front so obviously you were gonna look at her.
She performed with so much confidence, with so much grace. You could truly look at her forever.
When the game came to an end her squad asked if she wanted to go out with them, but Dina kindly declined because she had other plans.
She had to talk to this pretty girl that distracted her throughout the whole game.
Dina walked through the crowd, trying to avoid all the people who were trying to talk to her.
She was growing frustrated. Where the fuck were you?
Just as she was about to lose hope, she spotted your orange jumper. You stood on the side of the road talking on your phone. Dina slowly walked towards you and she didn't mean to listen to your conversation but she did.
"Abby i swear to god if you don't come pick me up in 5 minutes I'm going to kill you"
Dina softly giggled at how overdramatic you were. You put your phone into your pocket on you sighed.
Dina could walk away right now, she could turn away and you would never have to know about this.
Fuck it. Dina wasn't a pussy.
She tapped you on shoulder, and you turned around. Your eyes met with the girl you've been silently in love with for the last month.
Fuck.
"Hi" Dina started, giving you her charming smile.
Your mouth went dry and you felt so fucking nervous. She could probably see how you were shaking.
"Hi" you replied meeting her gaze shyly.
"Well I'm Dina and i just wanted to say you're really pretty and i was wondering if i could have your number?"
You wanted to pinch yourself. Is this even real? Was this a prank?
"yeah" was all you said without looking at her. You watched Dina reach into her bag to pull out her phone, and she silently watched as you put in your number.
"You don't talk much do you?" She laughed awkwardly as she took her phone from your hand.
"Yeah" was all you said.
Dina didn't text you. Its been 2 weeks.
Its not that she didn't want to, but she was terrified.
You barely spoke to her that night, who says you'll even text her back?
You on the other hand saw the situation differently. You thought she was taking you for a fool. Someone like Dina would never just ask for your number.
As the weeks went by you and Dina make eye contact, she would give you a small smile and you would just walk away with a nod. You'd make no effort to talk to her because she made you so fucking nervous.
Dina hated this. She hated that she wanted someone that can barley look at her. But here she was getting mad at you for talking to someone else.
Some blonde bitch sat with you and you acted so differently. You laughed, you fucking smiled and showed emotion, but when Dina was around you barely uttered a word to her.
You drove her insane.
"Dude why are you fucking lying?"
"what?" Dina asked.
She actually forgot Ellie was sitting here.
"You keep looking at her and Abby"
so that's what her name was.
"What's your deal with them?" Ellie persisted.
She might as well admit it.
"She isn't the problem, Abby is"
Ellies gaze fell to you and Abby for a while before it all clicked.
"Dude are you jealous? do you have a fucking crush on her or something?"
"Yeah" Dina admitted "but I don't know anything about her, i tried talking to her, but she doesn't say much"
Dina quickly glazed to you before she groaned in frustration
"she doesn't" Ellie confirmed.
"She only talks to Abby, she's quite shy in my opinion"
shy is an understatement.
Dina was losing her mind. Every time she sees you and Abby together she feels sick. But at the same time she's too pussy to talk to you or to even text you.
Dina could perform in front of thousands of people without batting an eye but she could barley say hi to you.
You were fucking breaking her.
Dina went to an empty classroom to let off some steam and to her surprise you sat there.
"Hi" Dina said in amazement.
"Hi" you responded looking everywhere in the room but her.
'just fucking look at me' Dina thought to herself.
"What are you doing here?" She asked you.
"Abby isn't here today, i didn't feel like sitting alone"
Dina's fist clenched tightly at the mention of Abby.
"Can i ask you something?" Dina randomly asked, after staring at you for a while.
"yeah"
"why don't you want me?"
"What?"
Dina dropped her backpack and she made her way towards you: "like you- fuck- why don't you look at me? I always look at you"
You wanted to run out the room, this was all happening too fast. "Dina-"
"no listen, i know nothing about you but you seem like a really sweet girl, please just one chance" she begged.
You would give her a million chances.
"Yeah..." you started, you looked around the room one last time before you finally made eye contact with Dina.
"so are you gonna take me on a date?" You smiled at her shyly.
Dina chucked and she responded with one word: "yeah"

Ellie sat across you, as you took the blunt between your fingers. You brought it up to your lips, as you took a deep breathe. As you breathed in, you closed your eyes as the smoke filled your lungs. Slowly breathing out, you already started to feel fuzzy.
It was Ellie's favorite time of the day. It was night time. There was barley any light in the room where you and Ellie sat- it was only the moonlight shining in from the windows.
Ellie couldn't help but to stare at you in awe. Your lips slightly swollen, you eyes closed, head thrown back- and the moonlight shining across your features made it 10 times better.
You were dressed up. Wearing a blue flowy summer dress. You had planned on going out that night, but then Ellie showed up and begged you to go smoking with her, and you said yes because who wouldn't? its Ellie fucking Williams.
You being dressed up, and under the moonlight, had Ellie going feral. She wanted nothing more but to get up and rip your clothes off of you. But she didn't. She couldn't. Because you weren't hers.
You suddenly opened your eyes, and Ellie started blushing- in fear that you might have caught her staring. You sat up slightly giving her the blunt.
"here" you said softly and Ellie just knew by the sound of your voice you were higher than a kite.
It was moments like these where Ellie fell more and more in love with you. The two of you, alone. Doing one of her favorite activities- smoking.
Ellie loved getting high with you. Hell, you were a drug to her, so you and weed together fucked her up even more. She wished you were hers. Her girl. Her lover. She wished she could get high with you all the time.
She wished she could get high with her lover, who isn't her lover. Yet.

You laid on the sofa across from Ellie, you legs sprawled out in front of you. Your dress was riding up your thighs as you kept moving and Ellie felt like she was going to explode by the sight. Your eyes were still closed, your head still thrown back.
'fuck me' me ellie said out loud.
'mhm' you questioned, opening one eye to look at her. You were so fucking high. It felt like you were floating. You heard Ellie mumble something and it brought you back to earth.
'n-n-nothing' Ellie said quickly.
Ellie never stutters you thought to yourself, but you assumed because she was just as fucking high as you were.
'c'mon hurry up' you said motioning at the blunt Ellie was holding.
'oh yeah' she said as if she forgot that she was smoking.
Truth be told she did. You fuck up her mind. You make her nervous. You make her forget things.
She quickly gave you the blunt and once again you took it between your lips and closed your eyes in pleasure. Ellie wondered if you were doing this on purpose. Teasing her. Taunting her.
Smoke filled the room as you breathed out and Ellie was staring once again. eyes trailing your body. She took the blunt from your hand, your fingers brushing slightly and she felt a jolt of electricity go up her spine at the touch. Before she could put the blunt into her mouth, to try and shake off these thoughts she was having of you, you reached down into your bag to grab a tube of lip gloss. Ellie watched you carefully, as you laid back down. You opened the lip gloss, and applied it to your lips.
Ellie wanted nothing more but to lean over and kiss you. You felt her eyes burning holes into your head, you turned to her she looked away immediately. You put the lip gloss down, closed your eyes and you let out a soft 'hurry up'.
Ellie was fucked. She was turned on. She was in love. She was obsessed. She was high. She didn't know what to do.
There you were laying across from her. Exposed thighs, glossed lips, eyes closed, head thrown back. 'Fuckmefuckmefuckme' she thought over and over again.
She decided there and then she was never getting high with you again. (she knew she would invite you again)

She could already imagine it. Coming home after patrol you being there waiting for her. Maybe in the kitchen cooking for her, wearing no panties. Maybe shed walk in on you waiting for her on the bed. She imagines coming home to you already licking the sides of the blunt, handing one to her as the two of you smoked in your home.
Her dreams could become a reality if she wasn't such a fucking pussy. Ellie would never admit it to anyone but you were her safe heaven. Over the years of knowing you, you somehow became her comfort. After hard days of patrol she'd always go visit you and her mood changes instantly. Apart from all her dirty thoughts Ellie wanted nothing more but to come home to you, and to comforted by you. To be held. To be babied.
The world you lived in was hell. It was darkness, but you were her light and you didn't even know. She felt free with you. She felt safe. If she could she would escape from this world. And she would take you with her.

As the night went on the two of you got higher and higher.
You were asleep. The moonlight looming over your features and Ellie just admired you. She loved the moon. She loved you. She loved you to the moon and back. She always wanted to be an astronaut when she was younger. She wanted to go to the moon and she wanted to take you with her. (She assumed there would be no infected on the moon) She laid on her side watching you as you slept. She silently thanked the moonlight from making you look even more angelic than you already were. She took one last puff before the blunt was finished and when she was done with it she discarded it somewhere on the table and she looked at you. There was nothing she wouldn't do for you. Getting high with you was the best decision she ever made.
She watched as you were sleeping, your chest rising slowly, your thighs still on display. You were going to be hers. She will make sure of it. Nothing and no one was going to stop her. She was going to make you her lover.
And she just did just that. A few days later the two of you were in the room cuddling and getting fucked up together.
Ellies dreams finally became a reality. She was getting high with her lover.

Do you guys think that Joel's watch stopped at his time of death? That Ellie has it only to be reminded of that day, that time, and how it stopped ticking when his heart stopped beating?
