Gonna start using this for theriform animals (around those it is safe to) instead of the usual "real" or "biological" or other terms.
Hope strikeout doesn't mess with accessibility things. If it does, we are really sorry.
Also, question: What would the "human" version of this kinda thing be? Like a version to talk about being in a human body (or what appears to most as a human body) but maybe not being human? (Strikeout cause dumb question, lol)
- Shay 🐾
Theriform Adjective (can applied as a noun in certain phrasing, see examples)
From θηρίον (thēríon) [diminutive of θήρ thḗr, “wild beast”] and μορφή (morphe) ["shape"/"figure"/"look"].
A theriform animal is one which was born into a body that is typical/expected of it's species and observable as such by everyone, with species-typical levels of sapience/intelligence and whose behaviour is unaltered by being born into a human body/raised in a form perceived as human.
It is not the 'opposite' of therian despite similar etymology but is instead to be viewed as a complimentary term to therian, nonhuman, alterhuman, otherkin etc as it exists to specify certain details of a species whilst not invalidating the identities of those who are not theriform. It is made to replace potentially invalidating phrases like 'bio(logical) animal' or 'real animal'.
It is not an identity label and therefore has no flag or symbol and does not need one. Do not create these things please, or use the term to describe yourself on a personal level.
Alternative versions for non-animals could include: floraform, nat(ur)form, techform, fictoform, feyform, voidform, starform, divineform etc
"Lol it's so funny being a cat and having a theriform cat as a pet we're both just kitties vibing but with different body shapes."
"Just because they're the same species are you does not mean you are able to take care of wild theriforms."
"The fact that there aren't that many theriforms of my species is so saddening."
"I wanna do quads alongside a pack of theriform wolves so bad!"
"I am transspecies, here is what I do/what I want to do to look more theriform."
"I wonder if theriforms get species dysphoria?"
Mood.
And for everyone wondering, our blog will be clear from April Fools jokes for the most part, and any of those jokes will be tagged so that they are clearly jokes.

oouugghh forgot tomorrow is april fools day… time to be paranoid about anything and everything everyone says and does ✨
(Ignore how long this reply took to make)
Btw, in case you didn't realize, our post was not an "attack" or hate to you. We are also autistic (and adhd).
We get where you are coming from, and we once again mostly agree with you.
This is coming from beings that don't use therian or otherkin as our labels, btw. We mostly use nonhuman (as well as alterhuman and transspecies).
We also want body mods and social transition in more than just wearing "gear." (We can't get that yet, just as we can't get that with us being under the trans umbrella cause of our family). And we would love to see social transition talked about way more as well!
We just also wanted to point at that while species transition isn't all about gear, that it also can be about gear for some.
(We do, in a way, consider anything that affirms our gender and species "transitional" to us, although not everyone would. So clothes to us is a way to "transition").
Once again, no hate to op. Sorry if it ever came off that way.
- Shay 🐾
just to clarify species transition =/= buy a bunch of stuff off etsy or amazon.
Please send asks!!!
We might answer some for multiple of us (such as the gender identity question).
- Shay 🐾
Ask game!!!!
.
.
.
.
1. What is your gender identity
2. Have you come out?
3. If you haven't come out, do you plan to?
(Note: reminder, you don't have to come out if you don't feel comfortable doing so)
4. Did you have a boom moment of "oh shit I'm trans! Or did you slowly come to the realization?
5. Does your gender identity influence your sexuality in any way?
(Note: if not, it doesn't work like that for everyone, be respectful of others please)
6. Do you wear gender affirming gear such as binders, faux breasts, etc?
7. Are you intersex? If so, tell us all about it!!!!!! I wanna hear :D
8. Have you gotten any gender affirming surgeries?
(Note: you do not have to have surgeries to be trans, not everyone can even get surgery, not everyone wants surgery, be respectful)
9. If not, do you plan to get surgeries in the future?
10. Are you on any form of HRT?
(Note: again chat, be respectful, not everyone wants hrt or surgery)
Reblogging means you want asks about this post in your inbox! (Unless you already answered in the reblog lolz) 🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈
questions! 1, 4 and 21 :}
This post is gonna be long, so if you want to read it, press the "keep reading" thing!
1. Kintypes?
Ok, gonna answer for all of us who are known, lol. We are working on making/creating some packmates that aren't included in this post.
For me, it's wolf, dog, cat, crow, and ockins (Zuki, Cyan, and Akay. Zuki is MHA/BNHA, Cyan is RWBY, and Akay is DDLC). And then also "mixtures" of the previous ("actual") animal kins (such as wolfdog, cat + crow, etc). I might actually have more kins than this, but these are the known ones.
We have Shirley, who shifts between multiple (if not all) medium and big dog breeds [and some other canines, like wolves and foxes]. There is also Lynix, who shifts between multiple kinds of felines (domestic cat breeds, lions, etc). Declan is a cat. Den is a dragon.
Mystery and Lakey are hard to actually pinpoint what they actually are, lol. But they aren't human.
We have (oc) fictives as well. We don't know whether to really count them for their "fictiveness," but they do fit under the alterhuman and nonhuman communities, and they use those terms, so we will talk about them a bit. Vesper is a fallen angel from the Helluvaverse (if you [general you] don't like that we have a Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss fictive than just block us pls). Okami is a werecreature from MHA/BNHA [my cousin!!!]. Oynx is a wolfdog animatronic from FNAF. Phalen is a werecreature from the Harry Potter universe [not sure what timeline they are from, lol]. Moonfire is a tiefling dragon mix from DND [we have never actually played DND in this life sadly].
We also have a "subsystem" (we call it a subpack, lol. As we use pack instead of system) that is fictive(s) from Encanto [we are bodily white, so if this upsets anyone, just block us please]. We aren't gonna go into any real detail about this subpack, but we will say that none of them are (actually) human, lol.
4. Favorite kintype?
This is hard, lol. For the longest time, I was mainly talking about Zuki, but I don't think I would call Zuki my "favorite." I miss my life as Zuki, but I also miss my life as Cyan and Akay. I miss being more animal-like than this stupid human body [this body is stupid cause it doesn't fit any of us, not because 'humans are bad' btw. We don't hate humans. We may have fear and shit of (unknown to us) humans, but we don't hate humans]. Anyways, I would probably just say a mixture of all of my ("actual") animal kins, so a wolfdog cat crow creature, lol.
Don't think we/I am gonna answer for the others, cause this is longer than we thought it'd be.
21. How does your plurality affect your alterhumanity?
Hey, it's our question we added for us!!! Also, did we use "affect" right?
Anyways, our plurality affects our alterhumanity in many ways, lol. We have talked a bit about multiple of our/my packmates in this post already. None of us in the "Wildlife Pack" are human. We are all alterhumans and nonhumans.
Our plurality is also very much intertwined with our alterhumanity. It is essentially part of our alterhumanity. While some plural beings may not consider themselves alterhumans, plurality is/can be a part of the alterhuman umbrella. And that is definitely the case for us.
We don't know exactly what our origin is for our plurality but we are pretty sure (around 99.99% sure) that we do not have a CDD [CDD means complex dissociative disorder, which are things like DID, OSDD, etc]. We also think trauma at least impacted our plurality even if it didn't cause it, so we mostly call ourselves quoitraumagenic, but we might not 100% fit under "traumagenic." Anyways, we are 100% pro endo and endo safe!! If anyone doesn't like that, block us.
- Shay 🐾
Anyways, we/I have ranted for a lot of this post, lol. So this is gonna be the end of it for now.
Also, if there are any mistakes with spelling, grammar, etc. Only correct us if you are meaning it in a constructive way, please. As we are bad with English (despite it being our main/only language in this life/body, lol). [We are disabled in multiple ways, and it affects us in multiple ways.]
Yeah! Send us asks!
Also, we are gonna add another question to this whole thing for us.
21. How does your plurality affect your alterhumanity?
Also, you can send other questions in our asks if you want!!
- Shay 🐾
Kintypes?
What do you prefer to call yourself (therian, otherkin, nonhuman, etc)
How did you find out you were alterhuman?
Favorite kintype?
Most recent kintype?
Least favorite kintype?
What are your reasonings for being alterhuman?
Do you wear gear? If so, what kind?
Any advice to new alterhumans?
What're some things you do to affirm your kintypes?
Strangest thing you do to affirm your kintypes?
What are your goals to affirm your kintypes?
Do you do quads?
Funniest way you found out a kintype?
How does being alterhuman affect your day to day life?
Does being alterhuman affect your religious beliefs?
Do your mental illnesses affect your view of your alterhumanness?
Does being alterhuman affect your gender?
What is your favorite thing about being alterhuman
What is your least favorite thing about being alterhuman
PS. I know not everyone resonates with the word kintype and I'm sorry for using it I just didn't know what other word to use
Reblogging this means that you want people to send you asks!
This is (mostly) true.
But also it can be gear. [Also, a reminder, technically, anything can be considered "gear".]
Like we find certain gear to be very species affirming/euphoric, and that doesn't make us any less nonhuman.
Species transition is very personal in a way, just as gender transition is. It's never gonna be a "one size fits all" kinda thing, and that's ok.
Transition how you want to. If that's just gear, that's great! If that's not any "gear," that's great! If it's a mix, that's great! It's your transition. Do what you want (as long as no one gets hurt, please).
- Shay 🐾
just to clarify species transition =/= buy a bunch of stuff off etsy or amazon.
Yessss!!
Spoiler for Flash under the "keep reading" thing.
However, Frost and Caitlin do end up in different bodies, sadly.
It's honestly kinda disappointing in a way that they do this (at least it is to us) but yeah.
- Shay 🐾 | & maybe a DC Arrowverse related fictive; Curren 🏹⚡️🐾
For the first two seasons of The Flash, all we see is Caitlin Snow. A Killer Frost appears in season 2 but she's a different Caitlin from an alternate reality. In season 3, it's revealed that the main Caitlin has powers and becomes Killer Frost herself.
It's a little unclear how Killer Frost works in season 3. Is she another personality? Or is the transformation just changing Caitlin's mood to make her angrier and "colder."
Season 4 confirms her as a whole other person though. And it shows Caitlin and Frost having internal conversations with each other just like other systems. Caitlin and Frost gradually learn to accept each other throughout the series, and you can see Caitlin letting Frost regularly front to live her own life in season 6.
We've seen a few beings doing this so we want to join in.
Our species transition goals (+ some gender and plural things):
Get moveable ears and tail and get to wear them (almost if not) all the time [we currently have a normal fake fur tail that we wear almost all the time]
Get paw prints tattooed on our paws
Get some wings tattooed on our back
Also, get moveable wings to wear when we want/need to
Go on T (this goes with us being bodily transmasc as well)
Look into other types of gear for me and my packmates
Get to change our legal name (this is more for gender and plural reasons, though)
Get permanent fangs
Get top surgery (also for gender reasons)
Look into even more ways to transition more
If anyone has any more tips or ideas for us, feel free to share them!! Also, feel free to reblog this post if you want to make your own version of this!
For the tips/ideas, we are gonna mention the species we have in our pack (the term we use instead of system).
We have canines, felines, dragons, a tiefling, a fallen angel (that is very canine and feline like), and two creatures/beings that we aren't sure what exactly they are.
- Shay 🐾
Rebloging to ask if beings would like updates on how creating/making packmates is going for us.
The updates would be their own posts, btw.
- Shay 🐾
Question for the systems/plurals (or whatever term that beings use for those types of things) that have intentionally created alter(s)/headmate(s) [or whatever term].
How do you actually go about doing that? We are interested in trying to make/create some packmates (our version of alters/headmates) but we don't really know how to go about that.
We hope that we have explained this in a very respectful way.
- Shay 🐾 & Mystery ❔️ (when we started writing this post, Mystery was also in front, but not when posting this)
Edit (we originally just had this in the comments, but it's worth adding to the actual post): Add on to our original post. We have seen tumblr posts of "make a headmate/alter," are those recommended? (Hope this makes at least some sense). We don't necessarily mean using one or asking for one to be made for us. We just mean how they are formatted and all that. But also, would beings recommend using one of those?
Ok, first of all, our post was not an attack or hate to you. We even got where you were coming from.
Second of all, fuck that whole end paragraph.
We don't like using those terms just the same that we don't like using system to refer to us. They just don't feel right for us. We don't look down on or anything people who use any term that we don't.
We know that therians and otherkins aren't inherently human (although they can be, let's not forget the humans under the alterhuman umbrella). We would NEVER call someone human unless they say they are human.
Also, for the bisexual thing, there are multiple different multigender sexualities for a reason (pansexual, bisexual, polysexual, omnisexual, etc). Cause some don't prefer one of the other terms. There is nothing wrong with a preference for a term.
We like nonhuman and alterhuman better cause they are the ones that we would prefer to be called. There is nothing wrong with our preference, and if you think there is, then just block us.
- Shay 🐾
putting this on main actually;
it annoys me to death when folks say stuff like “i’m not a therian, im a [xyz animal]”
because hey that’s what a therian is!
to say you don’t identify as a therian because you just ARE that animal is to say that therians AREN’T really the animal they claim to be. which is so wrong. to say you don’t like the term therian because it’s ‘too human’ is so insensitive.
therians are not necessarily human! someone calling themself a therian in no way makes them human! equating therians with humans is weird!
stop treating us like we are human, stop trying to separate ‘really being an animal’ from being a therian. they are the same thing. you’re not superior or different to us because you “really are that animal”. we all are.
We are probably being very dumb right now, but what do you mean? (To Icky/ @leashme )

Us when our disabilities disable us.
Like they are called disabilities for a reason.
- Shay 🐾
"you cant use your disabilities an excuse"
there are many reasons why a disability will disable someone. before you call it an excuse, maybe try considering why their disability, visible or invisible, effects their abilities.
This is a mood.

In a perfect world I would be a service dog -🦅🦮
We believe that tulpamancy requires intention.
However, there are many different types of plurality, and some aren't from intentional creation and also not from trauma.
From what we know, DID/OSDD/CDD (CDD means complex dissociative disorder) has to come from trauma. But those aren't the only ways to be plural.
We are plural that is partially traumagenic and partially endogenic (endogenic is just any plurality that isn't from trauma). [Also traumagenic doesn't always equal a CDD].
However, even though plurality can happen even without trying, you shouldn't be scared to cope how you want/need to.
- Shay 🐾
Hey, so don’t take this the wrong way, this is just a huge possibly irrational fear of mine that stems from like OCD and anxiety and it would be great if someone could tell me wether or not this is possible.
So I’m nonhuman and my identity is linked to my kin types. I have three: Cat, Fae, and linktype; Vulture.
They all bring a sense of comfort to me and all serve slightly different purposes. My Cat identity just brings general comfort and makes me feel more grounded. My Fae one brings me comfort specifically around humans, and my vulture one makes me feel shielded and protected, while also helping me deal with compulsive urges and whatnot (covering myself and blocking my view with my wings.)
A while back when I had discovered what tulpamancy was and wanted to try manifesting one for a while, before ultimately deciding against it since to me the cons outweighed the pros. Ever since then I’ve been pretty scared of like accidentally creating a tulpa.
So, my question….. Can I like. Accidentally. Manifest alters by doing this? Some of the manifestation methods I came across while researching tulpamancy seem scarily similar, and I don’t wanna accidentally give myself three different alters because I coped too fucking hard, it’s noisy enough up there💔.
I don’t know if tulpamancy requires intention and I don’t know how DD alters manifest aside from trauma throughout childhood and I really don’t wanna find out the hard way. Google isn’t saying much either.
We are gonna be going through our drafts right now.
Let's see how many posts we end up actually posting, lol.
- Shay 🐾
We get what op means, but still, if beings don't like a term for themself/themselves, leave them be.
We personally don't use therian or otherkin for ourselves, the terms just don't click for us. Like, they technically fit, but we don't like to use them and would prefer others not to use them for us.
We much prefer alterhuman, nonhuman, or just being called our "types/kins."
We don't think we are "better" than those who use those terms. We just don't like the terms for us.
None of this is an "attack" or anything on op, just a little reminder that beings not liking specific terms for themself/themselves doesn't mean that they think that term is "less than".

Uh, we are not sure if frogs are good pets (we mean, like how a wild animal isn't a good pet, basically not sure if they should be kept as pets).
We have not had frog legs before. And we are not sure if we would ever want to have them.
- Shay 🐾
Hey, what are your opinions on frogs? We need strong opinions, it’s for a school project (lie). -Consensus
Frogs are cool!!!
We love all animals!!!
We don't know much about frogs, though.
Sorry, this probably isn't really what you want. But this is what we can give.

Literally me. I am always fronting.
Although the colors/flag hurts our eyes a bit, lol. Would we be able to make an "alt flag" (that's what they are called, right?) of this?
- Shay 🐾
LockHost
Ive been looking for a system term to describe myself for a while, and decided fuck it we ball and made one myself
A lockhost is an alter in a system that seems to be the 'main' host, and is almost always fronting. They may also decribe themself as 'front-locked' or 'front sticky,' but this may not always be the case. They may be able to leave front or the front area, but are usually aware of whats going on with front anyways, and they are quite often pulled back to front within a short period of time. Because of this, they usually become the bodies 'main identity' in a system.
Other alters may use the identity of the lockhost as a mask in the case that they do not want to show themself, and may also interact with or control the body via the lockhost. In the case of a lockhost being an introject, it would not be uncommon for several doubles of the lockhosts source to also be present in the system.
Lockhosts may also act similarly to 'Observers,' in that they are always aware of the body to some degree, and can quickly be pulled to front in the case that they happen to not be fronting in the traditional sense. The lockhost may also serve many other roles in the system, but not always.
In the case of a lockhost also being part of a subsystem or side system, they may or may not be a lockhost of those as well.
!!!THIS CREATOR OF THIS TERM IS PRO ENDO. I CANNOT STOP ANTI-ENDOS FROM USING IT BUT DO NOT INTERACT WITH ME OR MY POSTS OR I WILL BLOCK. ENDO NEURTALS ARE FINE TO INTERACT. PLEASE RESPECT OUR BOUNDARIES!!!
We are aware that there is a similar term to this that was made by an anti endo, however this term was coined without knowledge of the post existing. Do with that info what you will, keep us out of discourse. And like we said before, we don't care who uses this term, but we ask that anti endos not reblogged so we don't get dragged into discourse.
No real clue, lol.
How did we just notice the "wolfdog" because that's what I am, lol. But in terms of the dog part of me, I don't know my breed(s). [We had picked "something else" originally].
My packmate, Shirley, is multiple medium to big dog breeds. They can shift into any form they want to. Some of our other packmates are also wolfdogs, lol.
- Shay 🐾
Silly little poll cause we all love clicking on things and finding out percentages 😌
+ I'm curious
If you're dogkin, what is your dog 'type? (if you have several, pls select the one that's the strongest of your identities!)
I'm curious cause these are the breeds I see the most often, and I wanna know what kind of dogs y'all are 👀✨
Us when we've been using these terms already and then find this, lol.
We don't really like using alter/headmate for any of us, and we were talking to one of our friends [who is also plural], and packmate was suggested as an alternative.
So we used packmate instead of alter/headmate and we use pack instead of system (we also use plural/plurality instead of system).

Pack / Pack Mate
[PT: Pack / Pack Mate]
Aaa, a system member who prefers Pack/Pack Mate instead of alter/headmate(s); a term for when you use Pack/Pack Mate instead of alter/headmate(s).

sorry but could you explain misceverse stuff to me? im curious to look into it more but when trying theres no guides or starting points, so any info on what it is, all the terms about orientations(?), scent stuff and how to know your scent stuff, and anything else you know? so sorry for the long ask but thank you for taking time if you do answer lmao
ill leave you some links here, the first one is a more general misce/omegaverse carrd but i personally find it a bit confusing, and the second one is @/omegai's personal misceverse which is my favourite one! :D
as for definitions, ill describe the main dynamics for you:
alpha: dominant, with instincts to care for and protect others. they are mistakenly seen as more masculine, though both males and females can be alphas. they experience ruts, and can get omegas pregnant no matter their agab. their scents are usually very strong (things like smoke, wood, saltwater...)
beta: neutral, with instincts to be mediators and help others. very social, usually seen as the middle man and the most clear-headed as they dont have mating cycles. their scents have a calming effect on every dynamic, and are usually more natural (i.e. pine, orange, mint...)
omega: submissive, with instincts to be cared for and protected, though they are also very good carers. they are mistakenly seen as more feminine, though both males and females can be omegas. they experience heats, and can get pregnant no matter their agab. their scents are usually very sweet (things like flowers, vanilla, coconut...)
all dynamics have nesting urges (though in omegas theyre stronger), and scenting instincts (though in alphas theyre stronger). all produce animalistic noises or "subvocals", though the sounds may vary between verses. the behaviours are set by the verse youre in: for example, i am a misceavian so my behaviours are based on birds, but a miscefelis will have more cat behaviours.
hope this helps, and sorry for the wait! i hope it was worth it :}
Genderqueer, trans masc enby (nonbinary), and novigender are all ones that we tend to use for all of us.
Novigender means a gender experience too hard to read/process/understand or too complex to pin down to one word.

random poll time! i was curious about the gender distribution of the alterhuman community so i made this. please only answer if you are otherkin, therian, fictionkin, otherhearted, holothere, archetrope, plural, or any other label under the umbrella
(im very sorry about the lack of options, i hit the maximum which is 12. again, if you are not alterhuman please refrain from voting on the poll. thank you :])
This is so true!!
We don't believe we have DID or OSDD, but we are plural, and it does seem like our trauma affected our plurality.
We won't argue with anyone trying to say that we actually have DID/OSDD. It doesn't even really matter to us that much whether we do or do not. All that really matters is that we are plural.
We have had our moments of thinking that our trauma wasn't "bad enough" and shit like that. So, this post definitely helps a bit.
Remember, comparing trauma is not good for anyone.

"my trauma wasn't bad enough i can't be a system"
whenever I hear people say this I always wonder, what metric are you using? your tolerance for how things affect you now as a teenager, or adult?
something that you experienced as a child is going to use a completely different metric! a child's brain is much less developed than an adult's and what they're able to handle is much less. for instance maybe you like horror movies? you probably can watch them without even getting scared! but if you watched the same film at 7 years old it would likely be a lot different!!
you don't need extreme trauma in order to have DID. it just needed to be extreme enough to YOU as a child, that's all. You got bullied at school? that's enough to develop DID! you had a disorder from an early age that made life hard? that's enough to develop DID! your parents were neglectful? that's enough to develop DID!
there's no such thing as gold star DID you don't need to have gone through the worst of the worst. there's no need for trauma olympics, if you have DID you have DID and that's all!
We are both transgender (specifically genderqueer/enby) and nonhuman (and we actually would love to use the term transspecies more for ourselves, honestly [more so me than my fellow packmates]).
Transspecies beings are not taking anything away from (other) trans people.
People are gonna hate what they hate. If people really try to use transspecies beings as a reason to hate on transgender people, then they were never really supportive of trans people in the first place.
Remember, be yourself/yourselves as long as you're not hurting anyone!

I'm starting to realize my past views about the term "transpecies" don't align with my current morals and I'm kinda playing with the term. To anyone who uses the term, what are your thoughts about it? Why do you think it's an okay term to use or why not?
I've heard people call it offensive to trans people before but ive also heard that take is pitting two communities against eachother for no reason/one identity doesn't discredit another. I can't think of any actually good reasons against the term tbh. It feels like one of those things I heard about through people being like "have you heard some people call themselves trans species and want to become animals??" And out of fear of being ostracized myself agreed with other peoples views of it. Now I think that's a nothing argument and discredits peoples identities because they are "weird". To be honest, I think the only difference between being a therian/otherkin and transpecies is the label and people only disagree with the label because they are worried about trangender people being ostracized or seen as "just as weird" and transpecies people.
Hey random question, does anyone know if there is a word for romantic attraction that's not "sexuality"?
Cause there should be. Cause not everyone's sexual attraction and romantic attraction "line up" (someone could asexual and biromantic, someone could be bisexual and aromantic, etc).
