Adrien's sitting in one of the communal rooms, messing with an old walkie-talkie he found in one of Muz's scavenger piles. It looks military grade. Well, from a couple of decades ago. He figured it could be a fun challenge. Though it's probably useless without another one.
He looks up and smiles up at Cameron.
"Hey! Yeah, I'm doing great. I started at the Chop Shop, met some pretty cool people, and I think I've got the lay of the town. How are you?"

cameron liked to make it a habit to keep checking in with the new comers, just to make sure they were settling in okay and not totally freaking out. not that she would blame them. so when she sees adrien around the house, she decides to stop and see how he was doing. he always seemed so happy but she was sure that was just a front. "hey adrien, how's it going?" she asks with a smile. "settling in okay?"
@fromcamadams
Lucas steps into Cameron's office with a stack of folders.
"Okay, I have the updated census, the current inventories from every council service, building damages organized by priority needs, and a rationing plan you, Ana, and Santi need to look over."
He places the folders down one at a time, making sure he's got the right ones. Then he steps back, hooking his thumbs on his belt as he waits for her next instructions.
Lucas looks up and smiles at Ana, which quickly turns to a grimace at the mention of Cameron. Lucas has heard all about that rocky relationship, and he knows even making sure the town is okay isn't enough to fully distract from that.
"At least she's still here. Not everyone got so lucky. We found Kina and... yeah, I'm gonna check up on Rae later."
He looks back down at the supplies.
"We're okay for now. I just don't know how best to ration anything in case something like this happens again. Is it too much to ask for a semi-truck full of survival supplies to come into town?"
He gives a weak chuckle at the old joke they've shared probably a hundred times in the years since he became a sheriff.
The sky feels too bright for what last night was. It shouldn’t be this quiet, this deceptively calm. Anastasia pulls her coat tighter, as if that could keep out the weight of exhaustion. Her hands still smell faintly of rain and the damp clothes she sorted, her mind circling back to Cameron more times than she’d like. She finds Lucas by the sheriff’s post, bent over a table littered with supplies—medical kits, rope, lantern oil. Seeing his familiar face pulls a tired smirk from her, brief and fleeting. “Hey,” she says, stepping up beside him. She breathes out slowly, "I just came from Colony House." Her words are low but steady, like it’s a confession that only Lucas can hear. "Saw Cameron." She waits a beat, rubbing a hand over her face as the memory settles like stones in her gut. "It went... like it always does." Her voice softens, brushing against old wounds. "She’s holding it together. But she's fine, thankfully." The silence between her and Lucas is easy, a quiet understanding built over years of shared burdens. She glances down at the supplies, her gaze flickering across the bottles and bandages with the detached focus of someone always on edge. “How bad is it? I know we lost some people... How're we on supplies?” she asks finally, her voice edged with exhaustion. @patroclusblossom

Adrien spends most of the morning after the storm at the town hall, getting the official rundown of where he is now and what the fuck they know.
Spoiler alert: not a whole lot.
Finally he's freed after his interview and led down the street to the infirmary. He's told that since he has mechanical skills he'll be working under someone named El at the Chop Shop. After a few months, he'll be allowed to apply for other jobs but for now, this is where he'll be.
He's led inside and to a room with lines of... beds? They don't look particularly comfortable but he supposes there aren't too many resources around.
He's pointed to a bed where a slightly older brown-haired person is laying. He shuffles over and tries to offer a comforting smile.
"Hi," he greets. "Sorry if this is a bad time but I was told I'm supposed to report to you for my assigned work."

Lucas shuffles among the headstones, passing names he's become familiar with but rarely think about. Any he knew were missed but free, and any he didn't know hang heavy but not unbearably so.
Only one gets any reaction out of him these days and it's an empty grave. They didn't even dig a hole. No body left so no point. Just the simple carved stone with the name that might always bring him to tears:
Carlos de Azevedo Miranda
Brother. Protector.
Lucas carries the bouquet of marigolds that Eddy so kindly makes for him. It's small but bright and one thing he can do to honor his brother still.
The keeper is standing near the headstone, so Lucas slows to a stop, watching a waiting so he doesn't interrupt the man's work.

Lucas takes a deep breath as he walks toward the morgue. It's been a long day, and he'd honestly love nothing more than to just head home, take a shower, and go to bed. As much as he wants to make sure everyone is safe, secure, and taken care of, he definitely needs time to himself.
Except there's one more person he needs to check up on. One he needs to handle personally.
He pauses outside the door, bracing himself for anything he might see, then knocks on the door.
"Rae?" he calls through. "It's Luc."
He waits, letting Rae set the pace though he's not taking "go away" as an answer that's for damn sure.

Adrien opens the garage door for Chop Shop Mechanics. It's technically his first day, but he figured it's better to take some initiative. Especially after the storm.
He jumps when he sees someone standing on the other side of the now open garage door.
"Shit! Sorry. Wasn't expecting someone there."
He wipes his hands on his jeans, putting on a smile.
"Hi, I'm Adrien. New in town."

Lucas walks down the street, taking note of all the damage from the storm. So much to fix. It's starting to feel like it would be better just to rebuild the whole town from scratch.
He turns a corner and has to put his list away.
"Hey!" he calls out to the person. "You need help over there?"
Adrien is so fucking confused. He's pretty sure he's never seen this town anywhere near the hiking trail.
Now it's pouring rain and... what the fuck are those in the trees?
He immediately runs when the guy calls, slipping into the house. Literally. Slipping onto his ass on the hardwood floor. It hurts but at least he's inside.
"Ow."
He looks up at the man.
"What's going on? Where am I? What are those things?"
Then he notices the small girl peaking out from a door frame.
"Oh hi," he says, putting on a smile and waving. "I hope I didn't scare you. Didn't mean to."

it all happened so quickly. one moment, daehyun and his daughter were simply enjoying time out on the porch before the rain began to pour. it wasn't unusual to get rain every so often, but this storm in particular was very unnerving. the dark clouds that had rolled in had daehyun rising to his feet--and then he saw t h e m in the tree line. with color drained from his face and the lunch he had eaten only a short while ago churning in his stomach, the teacher snatched three-year old bella up in his arms without a second thought. " get inside! " he yelled out, directed mostly at the person passing by on the worn sidewalk. " come on! " he called again as he carried the toddler inside, looking back out from the open door to ensure the other was close behind. if they didn't get up on the front porch in a few moments, daehyun already knew he'd be locking the door without them inside. thankfully, it was but a second or two later that he was able to shut the door securely behind the other, latching the lock and ensuring the amulet was securely attached to the wall beside the doorframe.
Lucas winces as Becca pushes.
"If I say it barely hurts will you let me go?"
He'd stumbled in from the storm, trying to do his job and help as many stragglers that were still caught in the storm as possible.
Now he's sitting here, dripping wet and trying to get back out there as soon as Becca says he can. If she says he can.

everything was too sudden for becca to truly understand. distractions took her attention before she could think; the hurried conversations, the rush of movement, the sudden noise of a hard rainfall on the roof and windows. even her own voice didn't sound right. it felt strained and warbled in her throat when she spoke, still caught by surprise just as she was getting the hang of this place. but her hands are steady on the injured ankle while she feels for irregularities underneath. "it's not a break or tear- that's good. now, i'm going to push on your foot and you let me know when it hurts too much."
Lucas looks up from the list he'd been writing out of things to do after the storm ends. If it even ends.
He shakes his head at his deputy.
"Sorry. No smokes for me. As for options, it looks pretty slim pickings right now."
He gestures over the bar to where there's notably no one working right now.
open to all. location: motel bar
A job of a deputy included a lot of risks, more than he'd ever imagined outside of Oz. But the blood stained uniform covered in heavy rain, leaving a trail of water behind him as he approached the Motel bar, was enough to showcase just how done he'd been with all the risk taking for one night. He was not fucking paid for this, or trained for this, and being outside right now? Running blind? It was nothing short of a death wish. "What we havin'?" question is directed to his right and he'll take out a pack of cigarettes now fully soaked through. "Fuck...you got a smoke? Preferably dry?"
