Edit 2: All recommended readings + Haymarket recommendations + essential decolonization texts have been uploaded to my linked gdrive. I will adding more periodically. Please do buy or check them out from the library if possible, but this post was made for and by poor and gatekept Global South bitches like me.
Some have complained about the memes being disrespectful. Making fun of the Israeli government and Zionists is only disrespectful if memeing takes precedence over amplifying and helping Palestinians. If you've been living and breathing images and videos of the genocide for the last month, it's the only thing that stops you burning out.
Edit 3: "The river to the sea" does not mean the expulsion of Jews from Palestine. Believing that is genocide apologia.
Edit 4: Gazans have specifically asked us to stop fundraising and instead put every effort into pushing for a ceasefire. "Raising humanitarian aid" is an appalling grift Western governments are pushing right now to deflect from the fact that they're sending billions to Israel to keep carpet bombing Gazans. This is especially cruel because the blockades are still in place and nothing can get in, even the "humanitarian pause" is just a PR talking point they're dangling in front of us with no intention of follow through, there will never be enough aid for two million people, and all it will accomplish is getting them fed and patched up enough to keep getting slaughtered. Add to the fact that Israel is bombing Red Crescent ambulances, medical teams and UN workers. Aid is meaningless for Gaza without a ceasefire.
I am Amira, the breadwinner for my family after my father's death. We were forced to flee to the southern part of Gaza after the war intensified. Our home, my university, and my workplace were bombed😢.
We are now in desperate need to escape this danger and continue my dream and educational and professional journey💔. I kindly ask you to donate or share the campaign link. Your support can save our lives and give us a chance to live in peace🍉.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart🙏.
I'm sorry to hear that, madame...
For everybody unaware; you can read Amira's story and contribute mutual aid at her GoFundMe link here
her campaign is almost at 80% of its goal and has been vetted and verified (scroll down for corresponding links) by several users including @nabulsi who is one of the admins of this master doc of fundraisers.
Every little bit helps, and if you can't help financially, there are other ways you can contribute to the Palestinian cause, such as:
sign petitions and contact the relevant authorities;
boycott;
educate yourself and others;
some advice if you're a minor part one + two;
even more ways you can help + a lot more resources here;
and very importantly, share and spread the word.
As for you, Amira, I may not know you personally but I feel that doing this is important. Peace to you! 🖤🤍♥💚

While my main venture into a library will be for books, as previously stated they are also community centers and should me a resource to increase opportunity and equality of the local residents. A recent episode of Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj looked at another form of inequality, unequal access to the internet.
The internet had become an additional resource all residents in the U.S. and in other developed nations need to have in order to be a successful part of society. Further than the internet, more accurately it’s the instant access to the internet via smartphone but even if not instant the internet has replaced many telephone, mailing and older forms of communication and information access, especially when it comes to research, employment and getting assistance. And again, libraries were part of making up for these inequalities for those who cannot afford, understand or otherwise access the internet.
Unfortunately, again libraries and the communities who need these opportunities and access are hit the hardest. Closing libraries, shorter operating hours and fines related to late library books are creating a further divide. As the world progresses, we have to make sure that not only we don’t leave people behind but that we are doing what we can to rise everyone up together

Some curiosities about white dwarfs, a stellar corpse and the future of the sun.
Where a star ends up at the end of its life depends on the mass it was born with. Stars that have a lot of mass may end their lives as black holes or neutron stars.
A white dwarf is what stars like the Sun become after they have exhausted their nuclear fuel. Near the end of its nuclear burning stage, this type of star expels most of its outer material, creating a planetary nebula.
In 5.4 billion years from now, the Sun will enter what is known as the Red Giant phase of its evolution. This will begin once all hydrogen is exhausted in the core and the inert helium ash that has built up there becomes unstable and collapses under its own weight. This will cause the core to heat up and get denser, causing the Sun to grow in size.
It is calculated that the expanding Sun will grow large enough to encompass the orbit’s of Mercury, Venus, and maybe even Earth.
A typical white dwarf is about as massive as the Sun, yet only slightly bigger than the Earth. This makes white dwarfs one of the densest forms of matter, surpassed only by neutron stars and black holes.
The gravity on the surface of a white dwarf is 350,000 times that of gravity on Earth.
White dwarfs reach this incredible density because they are so collapsed that their electrons are smashed together, forming what is called “degenerate matter.” This means that a more massive white dwarf has a smaller radius than its less massive counterpart. Burning stars balance the inward push of gravity with the outward push from fusion, but in a white dwarf, electrons must squeeze tightly together to create that outward-pressing force. As such, having shed much of its mass during the red giant phase, no white dwarf can exceed 1.4 times the mass of the sun.
While many white dwarfs fade away into relative obscurity, eventually radiating away all of their energy and becoming a black dwarf, those that have companions may suffer a different fate.
If the white dwarf is part of a binary system, it may be able to pull material from its companion onto its surface. Increasing the mass can have some interesting results.
One possibility is that adding more mass to the white dwarf could cause it to collapse into a much denser neutron star.
A far more explosive result is the Type 1a supernova. As the white dwarf pulls material from a companion star, the temperature increases, eventually triggering a runaway reaction that detonates in a violent supernova that destroys the white dwarf. This process is known as a single-degenerate model of a Type 1a supernova.
If the companion is another white dwarf instead of an active star, the two stellar corpses merge together to kick off the fireworks. This process is known as a double-degenerate model of a Type 1a supernova.
At other times, the white dwarf may pull just enough material from its companion to briefly ignite in a nova, a far smaller explosion. Because the white dwarf remains intact, it can repeat the process several times when it reaches the critical point, briefly breathing life back into the dying star over and over again.

Enceladus is one of the major inner moons of Saturn along with Dione, Tethys, and Mimas. It orbits Saturn at a distance of 148,000 miles (238,000 km), falling between the orbits of Mimas and Tethys. It is tidally locked with Saturn, keeping the same face toward the planet. It completes one orbit every 32.9 hours within the densest part of Saturn’s E Ring, the outermost of its major rings, and is its main source.
Enceladus is, like many moons in the extensive systems of the giant planets, trapped in an orbital resonance. Its resonance with Dione excites its orbital eccentricity, which is damped by tidal forces, tidally heating its interior, and possibly driving the geological activity.
Enceladus is Saturn’s sixth largest moon, only 157 miles (252 km) in mean radius, but it’s one of the most scientifically compelling bodies in our solar system. Hydrothermal vents spew water vapor and ice particles from an underground ocean beneath the icy crust of Enceladus. This plume of material includes organic compounds, volatile gases, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, salts and silica.
With its global ocean, unique chemistry and internal heat, Enceladus has become a promising lead in our search for worlds where life could exist.
In 2005, Cassini’s multiple instruments discovered that this icy outpost is gushing water vapor geysers out to a distance of three times the radius of Enceladus. The icy water particles are roughly one ten-thousandth of an inch, or about the width of a human hair. The particles and gas escape the surface at jet speed at approximately 800 miles per hour (400 meters per second). The eruptions appear to be continuous, refreshing the surface and generating an enormous halo of fine ice dust around Enceladus, which supplies material to one of Saturn’s rings, the E-ring.
Several gases, including water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, perhaps a little ammonia and either carbon monoxide or nitrogen gas make up the gaseous envelope of the plume.

What would cause two stars to collide? What does it take for a whole planet (as massive as Jupiter) to change trajectory?
The main mechanism that would make two stars collide is gravity. This depends on several factors, some stars may wander through space and end up being attracted by the gravitational field of another star, from there, one star begins to orbit the other.
But the most common are collisions in clusters of stars, because in a star cluster the stars are very close together, especially in globular clusters.
Collisions of young stars may also occur, as most of the stars are born close to each other in clusters. Many stars are binary, formed together, but in some cases before they evolve they may end up colliding.
In the universe both collisions of active stars can occur, as can collisions of white dwarfs, neutron stars and black holes.
The orbits of the planets are determined by the gravitational pull of the Sun, so it would need some very extreme force to cause the orbit of a planet to change its trajectory, perhaps if some planet or star enters our solar system, or when the Sun goes through changes and become a white dwarf in about 5 billion years.
What’s the biggest misconception people have about space or astronomy in general?
I’m not sure which is the biggest mistake, but I believe that one of them is the colors that are imposed on the images of planets, nebulae and other bodies of space. Many images are not real colors, many of them are fake colors. False colors are used to differentiate, some particular type of material, temperature, wavelength, chemical or mineral variations, and other factors.
Mercury with colors in visible light
Color-enhanced, this image represents chemical and mineral variations across the planet: tan areas are lava-formed plains, and blue regions show material that reflects little light.
This image shows two different views of the Horsehead Nebula. On the right is a view of the nebula in visible light, taken using the European Southern Observatory’s Very Large Telescope in Chile . The new image on the left shows the nebula in the infrared, using observations from Hubble’s high-resolution Wide Field Camera 3.
Some illustrations of space can also deceive or confuse, like images of exoplanets, where in fact we do not know for sure what it would be, since we can not have such clear images to the point where we can see them closely, and other things like representation of the curvature of space time, which shows a curvature in 2D, would actually be in 3D, but this is a little harder to visualize.

I have been watching "dhruv rathee" for quite a long time and I understood that I am the most dumb person ever who lacks general knowledge. How can someone have a luggage full of knowledge?! I really admire him because he is the most perfect person I have ever seen (practical person for sure).
My first video of dhruv rathee was "the monalisa mystery" and he gave such good lot of Info's about the world famous painting. My mom told me, "see, he makes videos about everything which we witness in our everyday life, you read books, you also make review videos about the books which you read."
She is right, but I am lazy. So its better for me to see his videos. By seeing him at least I can be an influential person. (He is hot too but his info's are more hot)

A mysterious virus called Zika is spreading rapidly around the globe, leading the World Health Organization to issue a global emergency. The mostly mild virus is raising concerns because of a condition it’s linked to called microcephaly, a birth defect characterized by an irregularly small head. Zika is a mosquito-borne illness named for the forest in Uganda where it originates. American and…

A list of words commonly used in the Writeblr community and their meaning!
I’ve gotten a lot of questions about what some things mean, so I thought it was time to compile a list of meanings.
This list gets updated every so often. Please click here to see the most up-to-date version of this post!
Writeblr — A community of writers on tumblr; A blog that posts primarily about writing. See here for a more in-depth explanation. (Also written as Writblr on occasion)
WIP — Stands for Work in Progress. Primarily, it’s a piece of fictional work that is still in the writing process and is unfinished. (Also see: WIP page)
OC — Stands for Original Character. This is a character entirely of your own creation.
Tag list — A tag list is a list of users who will be tagged in every post that a Writeblr makes about a certain WIP. It is often included at the bottom of a post, and people are free to ask to be included, or removed from it.
WIP Page — A page or a post on a Writeblr that describes a WIP. Commonly includes a synopsis, setting, characters, etc. See here for what goes in a WIP page and how to make one.
Tag games — Tumblr games where people will do something (often answer questions, a snippet of their WIP, etc) and ask other users to participate by using the @ function in that post.
Ask games — A tumblr game where a user will request people to send them things with the ask function. Often times will include a list of questions they wish to be asked.
Writing Sprints — An activity done by writers, where they write as much as they possibly can for a set amount of time (often 10-15 minutes). Can be done with multiple people, and is a common activity for a group of writeblrs to partake in.
Fanfiction — Fiction written by a fan about an existing TV show, movie, book, etc. Often features the characters, the setting, etc. of that piece of media.
AU — Stands for Alternate Universe. AUs typically feature the same cast of characters of a WIP or an existing piece of fiction with a major change or two. (For example, a Fantasy AU would involve placing the characters in a fantasy setting. There also may be an AU of what might happen if a certain character didn’t die in their story).
Canon — Material or information that is accepted as an official part of a story. (i.e., the creator confirms it and includes it in their story).
Headcanons — Ideas and interpretations of a fictional work that is accepted by a fan, but isn’t necessarily supported by canon.
Moodboard — A collection of images meant to evoke a certain feeling or emotion. Often used by Writeblrs for their WIPs and OCs.
Ships — The concept of a fictional couple. Can be either canonical or not. If you ‘ship’ someone with another character, you like the idea of them being involved with each other, often romantically.
OTP — Stands for One True Pairing. This is often used to describe someone’s all time favorite ship.
BrOTP — Someone’s favorite platonic ship. A portmanteau of ‘bro’ and ‘OTP’.
Beta Reader — A person who reads through a draft before publication to give suggestions and feedback to the author to improve it. Can be paid or unpaid, depends on the author.
Sensitivity Reader — A person who reads through a draft to check for issues of representation, cultural inaccuracy, insensitive language, etc. For example, if you are a white author who has black characters in your story, you should have a sensitivity reader who is black, so they can let you know if you are accidentally being offensive, or misrepresenting them in any way. Many writers will have multiple sensitivity readers to give them feedback, so they can make the proper changes to be more inclusive and culturally sensitive. Can be paid or unpaid, depends on the author.
TW — Stands for trigger warning. Often followed up with the trigger (i.e., tw: self-harm). This is to warn people that there is sensitive content in a post or a WIP, and that if they do not want to see it, they should not proceed any further. Used in tags and the top of the actual post for visibility, and often accompanied by a “Read more” cutoff.
OP — Stands for Original Poster. It refers to the person who originally made the post. If someone says ‘thanks op’ on a post, they are addressing the person who created the post in the first place, not the people who have reblogged or added things to it.
Planner — A person who plans out their story before they write it, often with an outline. (Also see: Pantser and Plantser)
Pantser — A person who does not plan out their story, or plans very little before they write it. Comes from the term ‘flies by the seat of their pants’. (Also see: Planner and Plantser)
Plantser — A person who does both planning and improvisation in their writing. A portmanteau of planner and pantser. (Also see: Planner and Pantser)
Have a word you’d like to see included? Let me know and I’ll add it!
Have a question on what a writeblr term means? Feel free to ask me!

This is random but I like when I’m watching a video about something and someone in the comments just drops a bunch of random information about it, like yes, thank you for giving me that information, that was quite pleasant. Like I was watching a Danny Gonzalez video where he watched a movie about a dog and a human falling in love and some random mother fucker in the comments dropped “The actress and actor that played the dog and the lady actually fell in love on set and are now married” and that shit was nice. Even if it isn’t pleasant information I always appreciate those types of comments. They feel like a well informed older sibling dropping random lore about your friends older siblings they also went to school with. Idk if this is stupid guys my adhd is really bad and I physically couldn’t make myself move until I spoke about this
I had to delete this too!!! Be aware
hey folks if you have an android phone: google shadow installed a "security app".
I had to go and delete it myself this morning.
