Same. It’s interesting to see how she’s progressed and become more of her own person. Her being able to laugh and snapping back at Drax “I wasn’t done talking!” makes it so nice to see.
I feel like we aren't talking about Mantis enough.
The fact that she is Ego's daughter makes it all the more fucked up when you realise she used to call him "master" Ego, literally only let Mantis live, just to make her his slave.
When we see her in Vol 2, she's always nervous and anxious, let's people degrade her because that's probably all she ever know, again calling back to how she refers to herself as a "flea with a purpose"
She's a victim of abuse.
I seen a lot of people say that she's just as bad as Ego, because she was complacent in his scheme — but let me tell you as someone who as has been in an abusive relationship before... IT IS NOT THAT EASY!
It is very difficult to break out of an abusive situation, the abuser has a way to break you down to your very core. The fact that Mantis was finally able to find the courage to break out of that is admirable enough.
Mantis in Vol 2 and Mantis in the holiday special are two competely different people, she's confident, ready to take charge of the situation and in an better headspace altogether. She's thriving under Guardians and finally living up her potential, because she's surrounded by people who love her.
Y’all, Rockets backstory, Adam Warlock, MORE GAMORA, Nebula being happy, Mantis having a family. Like, this is gonna be amazing.
Legacy is not leaving something for people. It’s leaving something in people. —Peter Strople
1.) Tony Stark, Vision, Natasha, Loki and Gamora are truly dead and only Tony got a funeral
2.) The new (past) Gamora won’t remember any of her relationships with the guardians of the galaxy, especially Quill
3.) Captain America never said goodbye to the rest of the Avengers, but he did get to experience all he wanted to in life
4.) Bruce never got his happy ending with Natasha after mutual pining for years
5.) Peter only got to truly feel Tony’s love and affection for like 10 minutes before Tony died.
6.) Loki is literally somewhere in an alternate timeline with the tesseract doing Loki tingz
7.) Morgan will have to grow up without her loving father
8.) Thor’s family is still completely dead (except Avengers family)
9.) Dr. Strange knew the only reality in which they would win was the one where Tony would die
10.) Wanda and Vision never got their happily ever after
11.) The entire world is literally gonna have PTSD after the snap
12.) Tony got closure from his father before he died
13.) Steve Rogers is freaking worthy
-Drax's infectious laughter through the whole movie. -Additionally Drax's continuous ineptitude for social interaction, especially with Mantis. -Gamora truly becoming Space Mum and suffering the whole time. -The entire family dynamics within the team and the fact romance was vaguely alluded to, but wasn't more important over family unlike most other hero movies. -Kraglin being the Best Boy!!! The purest character in the movie who deserves only good. -Groot being brilliant comedic relief, but ultimately also being a 3D character who pulls through in the end. -More trAGIC BACKSTORY FOR ALL!! -Nebula having the best redemption arc and the saddest reasoning behind it all. -#Let Gamora and Nebula hug more 2k17. -Also someone give Rocket more hugs because he suffers too much. Real revelation of his character and his scene with Yondu fuCK!! -Yondu = true dad and hero of the movie. -FUCK EGO AND HIS STUPID FUCKING ASS HE CAN BURN IN HELL FOR WHAT HE DID TO PETER!! -Movie should be renamed "The Incredibly Shitty and Horrendous Time in Peter Quill's Life". Let him rest. -The unabashed hints and references dropped. Every five seconds they references someone and it was amazing. -The soundtrack once more! -The reference they did to the first movie where Groot freezes while dancing when Drax sees him. -Groot. That's it. He was amazing. -Mantis and Drax's incredibly weird but endearing platonic relationship that I hope stays platonic forever because it's too good. -Someone must tell Mantis she's beautiful every day this girl needs it. -Teach Mantis to smile and love herself !!! -Big Sister Gamora must take Mantis under her wing and teach her not to take shit from anyone. -Dad Peter at the end with Groot. Takes after his dad Yondu. Next he'll threaten to eat Groot. -The inappropriately times jokes. There's so much more good parts to this movie but I've rambled on too long already. It must be watched!!
I yeeted my daughter off a cliff to ice up my wrist lmfao
Thanos
I loved this scene, it’s one of my faves after “Avengers...Assemble!”. BUT DO NOT GIVE THE RUSSOS PRAISE FOR IT.
We were promised “our first open lgbt character” and all we got was that five seconds of Joe Russo being an openly gay man. That? Is not what you hype up the community with. That? Was pathetic. They had the nerve to bait us with that sham of a “spoiler”!
As amazing as this scene was, it was still being used to pull the wool over eyes to “prove” that ‘HeY wE cAn Be InClUsIVE!’
I know the MCU is getting there, but that was atrocious.
In conclusion; GIVE US A FUCKING FEMALE AVENGERS MOVIE!

New vanity fair cover for MCU 10 year anniversary
A subjective review with personal opinions, minor minor spoilers - AMAZING MUSIC - Damn Chris Pratt was fabulous at every scene. The story really focused on his character’s back story and I was quite fine with that as that was expected from the last movie - Zoe Saldana was also flawless and I loved how Gamora had deeper story line with her sister, Nebula. It was interesting to hear their backstory little more and with Thanos mainly associated with it. Also I like her character more than I did in the last movie. The Starlord/Gamora dinamic was also nice too watch - As always, Drax was more of a comic relief and I hoped they make him stronger in the movie like in the comics to beat Thanos. He had great chemistry with Mantis too - I feel like Rocket had quite a lot of screen time and I really loved his action scenes and his gadgets. Really pointed out his character - Groot actually didn’t do much but WHO GIVES A FUCK HE’S FUCKING ADORABLE. Everytime he was on screen I couldn’t stop smiling. I also loved ho the other members parented him and took care of him with love - Mantis was so adorable and innocent baby with low self esteem and I’m looking forward to see her more in the next movie - I love Yondu SOOOOO much like, PETER BE GOOD WITH YOUR UNCLE/DADDY/CAPTAIN WHATEVER god he was fucking amazing in this movie - Kurt Russel was great as Ego, and I liked how they CGIed the Ego planet - There was a bit of a slow pacing scene in the middle - Also few jokes that you’d only get if you are familiar with 1980’s American culture like in the last movie, but it was bearable - I liked the overall story line - If you’re a comic book reader there were scenes that make you go HUH????? WHAT???? Also Easter eggs during and after the movie It was a 8/10 movie for me. Gags, angst, comedy, drama, romance, and fantasy were all in there and I’ll be looking forward for the next one!
