Pairing: Arthur x Reader
Warnings: Weight gain, body insecurity, slight eating disorder references, talks of skipping meals, etc
You looked in the mirror and sighed. Thereâs no way this was happening. You had been trying so hard to prevent it, yet here it was. You squeezed the extra fat on your hip that you know wasnât there yesterday. Holding your breath and hoping for the best, you stepped onto the scale. Your heart sank. 165 lbs. That was 5 lbs heavier than you were two days ago. You yelped quietly and felt your heart sink in your chest. You had been trying so hard, too. Slowly eating less over the last few days, but just enough for Arthur to not notice⌠Arthur.Â
Your mind automatically flashed to your boyfriend. His beautiful smile, his thick curly hair, his electric green eyes⌠His eyesâŚÂ What they would think when they saw you now? You did everything you could at that moment to hold back your tears, but it was futile. What would he think of you? You couldnât prevent the thoughts racing through your mind, the sinking feeling in your chest. Maybe Arthur deserved someone more beautiful, someone who looked more like the girls on TV. He deserved the entire world, and surely you werenât it. Not now, anyways. You quickly brought your hand up to your mouth and sobbed loudly, the tears flowing freely now. Arthur was so perfect, the best thing to ever happen to you. He was kind, and soft, and always truly saw you. He was everything to you. You were always a bit on the chubby side, even when you started dating. But Arthur never seemed to mind, or if he did, he didnât say anything. You had seen it in other men you had dated before. The occasional disapproving stare at your tummy, the occasional remark about your face filling out, but Arthur⌠Arthur had never given your appearance so much as a hint of dislike. He was always seemed to love every inch of you. You felt yourself getting dizzy as you wondered if this was all about to changeâŚ

I really needed that!
Made me sooo happy, it's too cute. đđđ
Request: I'm not sure if you're taking requests, but if you are, could I please have a one shot where Joker is comforting his S/O, like they're his only safe space and she feels like he can be vulnerable around them because they were there for him when he was still Arthur. Bonus points if the reader is plus size and isn't that confident about their looks. Thank you in advance, love your blog!!
Notes: Thank you so muchđ Iâm sorry if itâs a bit short, schools been crazy. I hope you enjoy it though!

You looked at yourself in the mirror, staring at your silhouette. âWhat the fuckâŚâ you whispered. You had been on a diet for over 2 weeks now, sometimes even skipping meals, without telling Arthur of course, and nothing seemed to work. You werenât extremely overweight, but you would consider yourself chubby. No matter how many times Arthur tried to tell you that it was fine, itâs nothing to worry about, you couldnât help but worry.
You felt your eyes burn as your tears began to fall down your cheeks. Why is this so hard? Itâs so unfair.
This happened almost every night. You stood in the bathroom, door locked, analyzing your body to no end while Arthur worked his second job. You were glad he wasnât home to listen to you cry because you often didnât hold back. You sobbed as you squeezed your skin, a part of you hoping maybe it would magically go away, but it stayed where it was.
You wished you could be with Arthur, in his arms as he held you close, easing away the anxiety and pain the way he always could. But instead you stood there, crying.
You had no clue while you cried, that Arthur wasnât at work, but outside the bathroom door. He had come home early and heard you crying. He had planned on surprising you. He stood with his hand on the doorknob, not moving a muscle as he listened to your cries.
âI donât understand what he sees in meâ you say out loud. You donât even realize youâre speaking the words until itâs too late. âHe will never find me beautiful. He will never love me.â
âY/N?â Arthur spoke through the crack of the door. You jumped, turning to the door in surprise.
âArthur? I thought you were at work, why are you home?â He didnât respond.
âDo you really think that?â he asked. You didnât answer. âCan I come in?â He asked. You quickly put on your sweater, and said yes.
Before a second could go by, the door flew open and there were arms around you. Arthur squeezed you tightly, his warm breath tingling your neck. Your arms slowly wrapped around him, and you could feel him relax a bit. He let go of you, taking your hand and leading you from the small bathroom to the living room. He sat you down next to him.
He took your hands into his own and looked into your eyes. Your heart ached, seeing the concern and worry clear as day on his face. âDo you think I donât love you? That I donât think youâre the most beautiful person Iâve ever laid eyes on?â
You breathed in heavy, the words he spoke bearing into you. You could hear the concern in his voice. âArthurâŚâ
âBaby I love you more than words could possibly describe.â He says, bringing your hands to his mouth, kissing them softly. âYour size doesnât matter to me. You matter to me. All of you.â
A tear falls down your cheek. Your hand breaks free from his own and you place it on his cheek. You can feel the remnants of his own tears. âI love you too Arthur.â you said. He smiled at you and you pulled him into a soft kiss. âIâm sorry.â
âDo you do that often?â He asks, referring to the thoughts you had spoken out loud in the bathroom.
âNot every day but⌠often.â You looked down to your lap.
He didnât respond, just pulling you into a tight hug. Your face fell into his chest, feeling the shallow rise and fall of his breath. He kissed your forehead. âWhen you... â he started. âWhen you feel these things, please talk to me.â
You nodded against him. âI donât want you to be alone with this. Not how I was.â he continued. You smiled and wrapped your arms around him tightly. He knew the pain you were going through and he wanted to make sure that you have the support he never had.
âThank you.â you whispered. He hugged you tighter, as if he was double checking that you were there. After a moment he let go and leaned back on the couch.
âLetâs watch some Murray.â he said, pulling you into his arms. As you leaned into his side, you could tell that he was holding you extra tight. His arms felt safe, the safest place you could possibly be in a time like this. Your anxiety seemed to simmer away while his hand rubbed your shoulder. This was your favorite place to be.
