One of my alien characters!

They're about 3/4 ft. tall and can stand up on their hind legs like a bear. Their bodies also look sort of like bears, but they don't have fur and they're a lot more skinny. Also, the funky retractable teeth!

🌟 Creating your own Self-Care Box 🌟

Step 1: Get a box, any size is fine!

Step 2: Decorate it! (I used wallpaper and paint) 

Step 3: Buy things to go inside your box - Remember this is your self-care box, so fill it with things that distract, comfort, relax and cheer you up in times of distress.

For example:

Sensory toys  🌟

Puzzle books 🌟

DVD’s 🌟

Colouring books with pens or pencils 🌟

Soft toys/teddies (These are great for comfort) 🌟

Stickers 🌟 

image

Play-Doh! 🌟

image

Write a few letters to yourself for when you need them 🌟 

For example - Your favourite memories, reasons to stay alive, reasons not to self-harm, you can do this, motivational quotes, the things you love about yourself

Diary or Notepad 🌟

Step 4: Once you have all your items of choice put them all into your box! 🌟

Step 5: Whenever you feel low, anxious, scared, alone, angry or distressed. Go to your box. It will always be there for you when you need it. 

Remember - This is YOUR box. Fill it with whatever makes you happy. Some more suggestions could be; bath bombs, lavender oil, hand cream, a blanket, fluffy socks, snacks, pictures of loved ones, a puzzle game, arts and crafts items. 

If you make one, take a picture and show me!

There’s a reason lots of good parents say to babies stuff like

“You’re excited to go to the park!”

“Oh, it makes you mad that we can’t go outside.”

And then when the babies get a little bit older the parents can say

“You seem upset. Are you sad?”

“Are you excited that gramma is coming over today?”

Which lets the kid (who is learning to utilize speech) respond with yes or no, which may prompt more questions, like

“So you aren’t sad, are you angry?”

“Yes, does it make you happy when gramma is here?”

And then, finally, when the child is learning to use language in a more complex way, the parents can say,

“How does it make you feel?”

“Why are you feeling like that?”

And it’s all about teaching emotional awareness. I really reccomend using the process on yourself. Learn to ask, “am I happy?” “Am I sad?” “Am I anxious?”

Then practice identifying, out loud or on paper if you can, “I’m happy.” “I’m upset.” “I’m sad.” “I’m anxious.”

Final step: “Why am I feeling anxious? I’m still thinking about that awkward conversation earlier.” “Why am I happy? It’s such a beautiful day outside.” “Why am I sad? None of my friends are responding to my messages.”

It really helps you notice patterns (“I’m more likely to be happy when I’m around this person.” “When I haven’t eaten, I often feel angry.” “If I don’t plan ahead, I get anxious.”) which is the first step in avoiding things and people that are bad for you and encouraging things and people that are good.

I'm just posting this to see if other people have the same feels as me.

Possible tw: dermatillomania, self harm

Sometimes when I don't have anything to pick at I end up wanting to make something to pick at. I know it's a terrible idea and I haven't done it and I don't plan on it because I know it's bad. But I still want to pick bad enough to think that. It might be a mix of self harm related intrusive thoughts and dermatillomania brain.

I just want to know if anyone else has had any similar thoughts because it's making me nervous. I hope all of you are doing alright and please be safe <3

Therapy is great! I don’t know why so much of my family sees it as a bad thing, but it’s seriously helpful!!!

I barely post but I wish to tell all of you fabulous babies out there during quarantine that all of you are fabulously beautiful and we can get through this. I’ve been having a tough time myself, but this will all be over and I can run outside into the river and be feral again soon. Love all of you strangers and I hope you’re doing alright <3
