We Cannot Stay Silent About George Floyd -  Patriot Act Digital Exclusive

i’ve been doing my homework on how to break into a writing career and honestly. there’s a Lot that i didn’t know about thats critical to a writing career in this day and age, and on the one hand, its understandable because we’re experiencing a massive cultural shift, but on the other hand, writers who do not have formal training in school or don’t have the connections to learn more via social osmosis end up extremely out of loop and working at a disadvantage. 

Eye opening, isn’t it?

We are a physical representation of our support for George Floyd. We are a physical representation on our support for Sandra Bland. We are a physical representation on our support for Trayvon Martin. We are a physical representation of our support for Stephen Lawrence. For Mark Duggan. It is very very important that we keep control of this movement, and we make it as peaceful as possible. We make this as peaceful and as organized as possible. Because you know what, guys? They want us to mess up. They want us to be disorganized. But not today! NOT TODAY! Not today! This message is specifically for black men: black men, black men we need to take care of our black women. We need to take care of- They are our hearts! THEY ARE OUR HEARTS! They are our future. We cannot demonize our own. We are the pillars of the family. Imagine this, a nation that is set up with individual families that are thriving, that are healthy, that communicate, that raise their children in love have a better rate of becoming better human beings. And that’s what we need to create. Black men, it starts with you. It’s done man, we can’t be trash no more. We have to be better. You don’t understand? I’m speaking to you from my heart. Look, I don’t know if I’m going to have a career after this, but f**k that! Today is about innocent people who were halfway through their process. We don’t know what George Floyd could have achieved, we don’t know what Sandra Bland could have achieved, but today we’re going to make sure that that won’t be an alien thought to our young ones. You lot came today, you left your kids, and when you see your kids they’re aimlessly playing, they don’t understand what’s going on. Today is the day that we remind them that we are dedicated and this is a lifelong dedication. Guys, we don’t leave them stop you now. This is longevity. Some of you are artists, some of you are bankers, some of you are lawyers, some of you own shop stores. You are important, your individual power, your individual right is very, very important. We can all join together to make this a better world.

If you see anyone discrediting the rebellion in terms of destruction of property ‘vandalism’ discrimination by race, creed, know that this only serves the very forces that you are trying to dismantle. Solidarity is the key ! Dividing and dismissing people who are standing on your side only benefits the government. Do not fall for these tactics ! A lot of celebrities and so-called progressives have been spouting this ‘I’m not with them’ propaganda for days now and it unconsciously erodes the unity of the rebellion.

are you staying home from work/school?: Odd but my job let me go (it's kind of fine) and I’m treating this a much deserved mental health break, even with all the fear. At least I’m writing more.

if you’re staying home, who’s there with you?: Roommates, who are two of my friends from school, and my sister. It’s like a friend's episode just without Ross and Rachel.

are you a homebody?: Yes, Its nice not wearing pants.

what movies have you watched recently? what shows are you watching?: Just saw Birds of Prey, What's Wrong with Secretary Kim? Emma, and Tonight I’ll watch Onward.

an event that you were looking forward to that got canceled?: I had tickets to BTS. So... Also Outsidelands, while it's in August, I already booked my hotel and now I’m wondering if I should even buy the tickets.

what music are you listening to? A lot of Kpop, lo-fi, coffee shop indie, alternative, and Halsey like sounds. New is Missio. I like em.

what are you reading?: I'm reading a lot of Pride and Prejudice variations, alien romance (because why not) and some Neil Gaiman.

nothing surpasses the comedy of the entire aftermath of the emma (2020) ball scene. NOTHING. knightley running after emma. frank churchill red-faced and sweating from carrying harriet. “on account of the scissors.” frank wheeling harriet around in his arms like he’s training for the shotput event in track & field. knightley’s face when he realizes how close he is to harriet’s face and to emma and he’s like “YIKES abort abort.” knightley failing miserably to come up with a reason for being at emma’s house other than sexual frustration and pining. harriet moaning suggestively enough to visibly startle knightley. knightley going through the five stages of grief when emma asks for frank to stay. and to top it all off, bill nighy hop-running in like some sort of meerkat to exclaim “is she dEAd?!”

not to mention that none of them have slept because it was definitely the morning hours when the ball ended, so these idiots definitely just pulled an all-nighter and are basically using one brain cell at this point? truly peak cinema. no i will not accept criticism.

This is only the beginning. Our country has not only entered a new decade, it seems a new dawning era as well, because this flaming apocalypse doesn't show any sign of stopping any time soon.

And you know what saddens me? I've never seen Australian tragedies trending here on this website. I mean it's been going on for months and only now does it seem to really be getting recognized, even if it is only at #9.

And I'm going to be honest with you here - the internet, and media in general is so American centric, this website being no exception. You'd think that an entire continent being on fire for several months with devastating consequences would have more recognition, but no, it really doesn't. The most notes I've ever seen on a post about the Australian fires is at least a few thousand, and that's about it.

So just... please. If you can, with this post or any other post in regards to the fires going on down here, reblog. Because the only thing that should be spreading like wildfire, is a post about a burning country...
