Every so often disaster strikes the drestate, all the towers are hit with nuclear bombs and out of the rubble, just as the dust settles, someone rises, pats their pants and goes "I think Dream's an Alpha" and then someone from under the rubble will scream "That's BULLSHIT" And I find that beautiful

There's something to be said for c!Dream actually switching to c!Schlatt's side for the book. A purely transactional move: c!Dream (as even stated by cc!Dream) had no motive to side with c!Schlatt other than the book. He was just holding up his end of a deal. Even when there wasn't really anyone capable of enforcing that deal! Like, yeah, c!Dream obviously had other stuff going on with c!Wilbur behind the scenes re. L'Manberg's destruction, and he wasn't exactly giving the war effort his usual level of enthusiasm—he literally led them straight to c!Schlatt—but he did still fight! There was still some semblance of a battle, no matter how one-sided, and I'm not convinced there would've been had c!Dream not stayed.

Because c!Dream really didn't have to stay. It would've been so easy to just take the book and leave everyone to fight their battles without him, or even to openly join Pogtopia's side, but he didn't. It says a lot about his insistence on fair exchanges, deals, favors for favors. Even when his reputation as a "good person" is beyond repair, he strives to maintain that reputation as a trusted ally.

c!Dream is a beautiful, charred, mostly-stale cinnamon roll.

c!Dream deserves a slap upside the head, therapy, hugs, and a nice secluded farm out in the boonies where he can grow flowers and carrots and own three parrots, eleven horses, six dogs, and twenty cats.

If I met c!Dream, I would give him a long, comforting hug (probably while ugly crying), then give him a sound drubbing about the head and shoulders with a wiffle bat, after which I would drag him off by the hand to see a therapist.

Soo me and the beloved were discussing avians, bird anatomy and how birds mimic voices and start to sound like people they're near often. And i wrote this snippet and they somehow convinced me to post it

Punz leans on a column of the arch that separates their bases little kitchenette and the space dream has claimed as his impromptu "office". ((Aka books scattered haphazardly across the floor and papers plastered to the walls with anything from sticky notes to arrows speared through the scrolls like a prized kill. To punz it looks more like a mental breakdown than a functional workspace, but who is he to judge))

Dream is reading a map, at least attempting to as tired eyes scan through the scramble of lines for the 3rd or 7h time like its going to effect the outcome in any way. Punz catches his attention with a knock to the cold wood, it makes dream flinch and punz only feels a little bad, ((its routine at this point, better to act like nothings changed than make dream feel fragile with gentle movements and an unchanged outcome)) punz can tell dream hasn't slept when he raises his head to tilt it at him expectantly, frazzled feathers and hair that isn't much better off, punz doesn't comment on it. He informs dream he's going to make breakfast now, asking if he's hungry. Dream says 'no', it comes out a little sharper than he meant it, punz looks taken aback, and says he sounds like sam. Dream feels empty as he realizes he can't tell the difference anymore.

Is this just an unnecessarily long set up to one (1) line i wanted to deliver? Yes.
