I Wonder If The Skull Suit With Mask From Mgs2 Or Mgs1 Sneaking Suit With Mask As Seen Right After Arriving

i wonder if the skull suit with mask from mgs2 or mgs1 sneaking suit with mask as seen right after arriving to the location could be considered a swimsuit since one of their functions is diving suit

I've replayed Metal Gear Peace Walker and Phantom Pain recently and I just realised a thing about a couple of outfits we can acquire.

-John finally found a way to take off his pants as well as his shirt.

- the only games where we have swimsuits that can be worn by both male and female soldiers are the ones where swimming is not an ability we have.

- Kaz was in his undies in the command center every time we called him on codec as Swimsuit Big Boss enough times during PW.

thought this exercise is just going to be atrocious but i kinda like the top one (10 minutes)

sometimes it do be like that (worse than before) but we keep going. i kinda disliked drawing that guy bc his photographer uses settings that distort proportions (like fisheye or the opposite) so his limbs look bizarrely huge and disproportionate. but today i enjoyed the cartoonish look.

my line of action buddy won't join today due to having 13 hour shift at work, so i will do it twice for myself and for him, lol

i like how the dancer came out but don't like the rest. i used to draw the lines and simple shadows in 10 minutes and here i didn't even finish the lines in 25 minutes; not a single line in the longer sketches is confident and uninterrupted lol. anyway, i am glad that i challenged myself to draw a bigger thing and try to convey the pose as accurately as i can. will post more in the evening if i do it and like it.

i also finally started drawabox course and found out i can't draw ellipses lol. it is highly enjoyable though bc there are easily measurable criteria to evaluate myself as opposed to evaluating entire sketch.

have read "the sun also rises"/"fiesta" by hemingway. review below

i'd say it is a slice of life about bohemian american expats in paris with lots of casual conversations and description of their leisure, with a side of nature and bullfighting. although not explicitly stated by the narrator/main character, upon closer inspection the book is focused on how the virility (no pun intended, i can't think of a better word) of young men (and possibly women) was broken by ww1 despite wars being supposed to be both outlet and forge of virtue and merit.

i haven't read a lot of hemingway and not big on reading in general, but the intentional omitting of things makes it really good as well as suits the tendency of many characters to avoid thinking about some things. there are a lot of diverse and believable characters, both recurring and mentioned only once. their friendly chat and banter reminded me of philip k dick's "a scanner darkly" in some way. besides war, it depicts issues of living in immigration, loneliness and alienation in a city, scepticism, insecurity, discrimination, feeling emasculated and toxic polycules.

it also has an interesting depiction of a female character's life values but that is up to women to comment. although she also admits to feeling miserable most of the time, it seems she is better adjusted than most of the male characters.

it is sad that 100 hundred years later it is relevant (not talking for everyone) but comforting that people in the past felt the same way. personally i am going to adopt ways of coping depicted in it, such as group trips, spending time outside the city and competitive games/sports. note that any character probably wasn't supposed to be a moral role model probably even at that time: befriend people of other genders for the sake of good friendship, don't blame your irritation with a person on their nationality etc.

cw for this book are mention of discrimination, slurs (i counted 3), animal abuse, a bit of gore, alcohol abuse, consequences of war and a weird open relationship where no one is really happy.

i would also say it might be relevant for trans guys with bottom dysphoria but (ending spoiler ahead) main character doesn't think much about it and eventually realises that it doesn't even matter bc he and his peers are messed up mentally and a healthy dick would not grant a happy relationship. which still might be relevant but i'm not sure if it's the message anyone would be looking for :)

i had a lot of fun first listening to it on youtube and then switching to a paper book, highly recommend it. reading the litcharts review was a bit irritating for me and more gendered than it could be, but provided an interesting insight on where stuff i thought to be just "default" comes from and reflect on my own (civilian) life.

as a big time "they wouldn't fucking say that" enthusiast, i am glad those fics are written anyway.

i am currently reading a fic where mc is depicted starkingly ooc imo, in a way she seems the opposite of what she is in canon (imo). and i am having a good time bc of author's interpretation of the plot and real life facts integration.

depending on how many grey areas there are in your canon lore, anything other than canon might be ooc bc the characters wouldn't have an opportunity to do that. and as for being in line with canon behaviour - same person can act differently depending on outside factors, and people change, which is why there are long fanfics that start very "in character" but have little resemblance to the blorbo bingus towards the end.

sometimes a fic is worth overlooking ooc behaviour. sometimes it isn't for me as a reader - and then i close it and go on with my day, nothing bad happens, and if you had fun writing it (and other readers possibly had fun reading it), that what's matters! if you strive specifically to write them in character, you can always learn afterwards from a discussion in comments if you want to. if you don't care about ooc stuff in the first place, nobody can stop you.

tl;dr writing is cool and if you want to do it, you should

I have a lot of feelings about the rise of he would not fucking say that attitudes in fandom spaces and the paralysing effect it can have on creators. As a writer i think it’s important to just write what feels true to you and not what you think others will “approve” of. Like even as a reader i have enjoyed a variety of different characterisations that all work because the writer makes them work for a particular story. And a fic that’s written out of character to some will be in character to others. Writing fic is not your job you’re not being paid it’s your hobby please. Make them as close to canon as possible. Make them completely different. Who cares! Have fun! Have so much fun! There is an audience for every kind of fic and every kind of character interpretation i promise

i guess drawing this guy the other day paid off bc this is the best i have managed to make to date. didn't actually take me 25 minutes, i was doing it for ~20 extra minutes bc i liked how it was going so far and wanted to finish. might return to it later and fix it a bit more.

i am satisfied with the 5 minute guy and not satisfied with the 5 minute lady at all, as well as the 10 minute lady except for hair which is my most decent attempt at conveying long hair structure so far.
