Gee, ya think?
What next? Maybe you shouldn't have had directors directly working to undo what the director for the previous movie did?
A mix of the fact that Russbis looking for some "tree of life" and the fact that GW often feels like it's doing everything it can to ignore xeno factions.
Ok gotta know where the fuck in the 40K community did this idea that specifically Leman Russ is gonna rescue Isha from Nurgle
Sauce for art.
I probably blocked most of the people this is relevant to, but a transphobe cannot be an ally to GNC people.
An ally is an ally to people who might be. They do not withold support until a peer-reviewed study has proven that they are, and they do not create an environment that prevents someone from discovering they are not.
Being GNC is not a pipeline to being trans. Nevertheless, there are quite a few trans people who start of GNC, before discovering it's not just how they want to present. An ally lets someone discover which one they are on their own terms. They do not say "you are trans, you're just in denial". They do not say "you aren't trans, that's mental illness".
You guys do know you're supposed to reblog things, right
Captain Sheridan, Dan Randall, ISN News. Thank goodness, someone reasonable to talk to.
Kind of the point of the 40k AU I'm writing. I want to create a world to share with others.
reblog if you’re okay with people writing fanfics of your fanfics and/or fanfics inspired by your fanfics
Someone else wrote it? You can do it better. Maybe not from everyone's point of view, but definitely someone's, probably yours.
fanfic writing culture isn’t “oh dang! I wanted to write about this prompt with this character but someone else already wrote it, so now I can’t”.
fanfic writing culture is always “two cakes is better than one. the more the merrier. there can ever be enough fics of this character with this prompt!”

I use them all the time, though.
"If you use em dash in your works, it makes them look AI generated. No real human uses em dash."
Imaging thinking actual human writers are Not Real because they use... professional writing in their works.
Imagine thinking millions of people who have been using em dash way before AI becomes a thing are all robots.
"It came to me in a dream" is more compelling credentials for a source than having asked ChatGPT.
It's a case of something I've actually seen in myself, where they're so set in their ways and beliefs that the idea of "someone", as in, a distant unknown figure, would disagree with them. Sure, they might know a person who does, but that's a *That Person* thing, they only do it because they're "weird". They see something they like, and to them of *course* it agrees with them, because to them, it has no reason not to.
They're like the Emperor. They're so sure that they're right that they can't comprehend some "sane, informed, and reasonable" person disagreeing with them.
So apparently on twitter there's a whole thing going on where anti-woke Warhammer fans performatively stormed out by declaring that they were going to play the horror-themed WWI wargame Trench Crusade instead, only to be mass-banned from its discord because the moderators didn't want a bunch of paleocon trolls stinking up the place.
The thing that blows my mind isn't just that they thought the thoroughly subversive Trench Crusade was positive Christian rep, but that they thought Warhammer 40,000 was. The setting where the messiah is explicitly dead and rotting and was an anti-religion crusader in life. Meanwhile Warhammer Fantasy's Sigmar is much more Thor than Jesus. A lot of conservative evangelicals and tradcaths seem to fall into liking straight up pagan gods if they have a sufficiently macho and traditionalist (western European) aesthetic.
Honestly, this is beyond media illiteracy, it's just straight-up blindness. Obliviousness beyond even the people who think Robocop and Starship Troopers are gung-ho pro-American action movies. Now I'm left to wonder how many fans of the Blasphemous game series are passionate reactionary Christians who get the happy feelings from the aesthetics and totally ignore the story and themes.
Still, I am glad to have learned about Trench Crusade through this, looks like a cool game. Aesthetic and themes kind of remind me of the Trench Foot/Countrycide mod for Doom (which, granted, started off as a Warhammer 40K mod...).
I swear, some lore nerds would rather die than acknowledge that factions other than the Imperium do things, and that there is some overlap in what they and the Imperium do.
Or that, as incompetent as they are, it is still entirely possible for them to do something smart, if it's only by accident.
Oh, it's certainly incompetent, and when it does do something right, it has no understanding why. When the Imperium does something correctly, it does so because that's what tradition says, not because they understand why, how, or if it works. It uses titans because the titan legions have been around as long as the Imperium does. The Space Marines fight in melee because of honor and glory. Do they understand why they do them, and why they work? Of course not. Doesn't keep them from working.
Wait, you're telling me that plate mail, which people were relying on to keep themselves alive, is well-designed? Inconceivable!
Unless you top, in which case you get "Iron Without."
If you fuck an iron warrior this pops up
He's the best primarch for a reason.
The silly series continues.
Art by Blanckk,
Actually, even more wild is the number of TERFs looking at this post and thinking "This post agrees with me". I am literally asking for a space where people respect other peoples' gender identities. A person who defines their political stance on how they don't respect certain people's genders is not welcome in such a place.
Call it queer infighting, but I feel like a safe space for GNC people should not have people who insist that being GNC is a pipeline to being trans.
40k is just an inherently homoerotic setting.
I've begun reading the Horus Heresy, and despite some of the authors intentions and descriptions of various women to make the book "straight", it is wildly homoerotic. Every time a primarch or astartes is described it would probably be less gay if they just had gay sex. Needless to say it's quite enjoyable
Nukes aren't Dark Age tech, anyone with a decent enough understanding of physics and uranium (or plutonium) could make one.
One amusing constant inconsistency in Warhammer literature is this.
The nuke.
From the dark age if tech, the blast radius of a nuke varies from authour to authour.
I have seen them damn a world to nuclear winter.
I have seen just one level a hive city.
I have also seen just one gut an Imperial fleet.
No one can figure out how powerful of they are....
Also, for a bit of dark age tech that no one can replicate.... There is a lot of nukes out there, like a lot, I thought dark age tech was meant to be insanely rare?
It's been wild seeing all the people immediately jump to calling this transphobia. I am literally asking for people to respect other peoples' gender identities.
I even very specifically did not say "trans people" in my original post, because the problem is not and never was trans people. (In fact, I'd say a GNC safe space needs to let trans people in for the same reason any queer safe space, including GNC ones needs to be able to let cishet people in--if it's not a safe space to people who are questioning, it's not a safe space)
I wouldn't even go as far as attributing this behavior to trans people. When it comes down to it, the people themselves are not the problem, it's their behavior.
The problem isn't trans people, it's people--of any identity--who think that, for some reason, the phrase "you should respect other people's identities" does not apply to them.
Call it queer infighting, but I feel like a safe space for GNC people should not have people who insist that being GNC is a pipeline to being trans.
I mean, my read of Guilty Gear (which mainly comes from the wiki) is that Bridget is basically Cis+ (or an AFAB transfem). She reads as the second scenario to me.
It was kind of brought on by discussions of Bridget, and it's kind of supposed to be bringing problematic thoughts to mind. The "boy forced to live as a girl" troupe is kind of common with femboy characters, and it sparks a lot of argument, which tends to reduce people to their genitals.
Take a baby with one gendered set of genitalia (ISO standard male or ISO standard female, either one works), and raise them as the opposite gender. (e.g. raise the ISO standard male as a girl or the ISO standard female as a boy)
If they grow up and never question the gender you assigned them (they may question why they are different from other kids, but won't think about if they are the other gender any more than an average cis person would), are they trans?
If they grow up, wonder for a time if they are the opposite gender, but ultimately conclude that the gender you raised them as is correct, are they trans?
If they grow up, wonder for the time if they are the opposite gender, and ultimately conclude that they are the other gender, are they trans?
I'm not writing this with an intended "correct answer" in mind; I'm not entirely sure myself. Being cis (and not raised as a different gender like the person in the thought experiment), I'm not sure if I'm the right person to give the correct answer. I just want to share something I've been thinking about.
I think I know what my answer is, but I'm not going to claim it's the single correct answer.
me impatiently to the little french cat boiling me in a stew: chat am I cooked
I barely write, but when I do AI is nowhere to be found.
a writing competition i was going to participate in again this year has announced that they now allow AI generated content to be submitted
their reasoning being that "we couldn't ban it even if we wanted to, every writer already uses it anyway"
"Every writer"?
come on
Call it queer infighting, but I feel like a safe space for GNC people should not have people who insist that being GNC is a pipeline to being trans.
Edit: TERFs fuck off. You are just as bad when it comes to respecting people's gender identity as the people I'm complaining about.
I don't like derailing my own post, but since so many of you people have shared this, it's too good of an opportunity to pass up.
40k Crackship Idea: Titus x the Warp Power Source
I mean, the idea that future archeologists would look purely at bone structure to identify gender, when they almost certainly would a) have more methods available and b) know that transgender people are a thing, was pretty silly.
future archaeologists will know you were (not) a boy
