dancing through our house
hyunjin x fem!reader
hyunjin comes home earlier and decides to plan a nice dinner, it doesn’t go as planned but it all works out in the end.
genre: established relationship, she pronouns
note: i cried while writing this
the smell of burning was apparent from the moment she’d walked into the apartment. quickly kicking off her shoes, to find out where the smell was from. hyunjin must have forgotten to turn something off before leaving for practice. nothing was smoking but poor hyunjin was spotted on his hands and knees on the kitchen floor scrubbing his heart away.
“hyun?” he turned his head over his shoulder, scurrying to his feet and standing in a greeting way.
he brushed off his nice suit and placed his hands in front of him while straightening his back.
“i didn’t think you’d be home so earlier.” he looked behind him. moving quickly around the kitchen once again collecting things that had been left about.
it was a mess; dishes filling the sink, hyunjins dirty clothes tossed to the side of the washing basket, some burnt meal ontop of the stove and the split substance hyunjin had been violently trying to get off the marble flooring. he reached on the counter top handing her a rose while his arms were full of the now useless cutlery.
“what’s this?” she asked taking the flower. hyunjin dropped the tools into the sink with the rest. she watched noticing the sauce smeared all over the arm of his nice new suit.
“oh for fuck sake.” hyunjin huffed taking a paper towel and tried to dab it away but it had already starting setting in.
she reached for the tissue to help him. “jin calm down.” she laughed.
“im sorry, i just wanted to do something nice. but the food i got burnt because i thought it said 2 hours but it said 20 minutes. and the stupid stupid sauce got all over your new floor,” he pointed down were she took a step back to avoid standing in the bubbly red stain. “and im sweaty and tired now and you came home before i could reshower or finish-“ he stopped when she reached up and softly kissed his cheek.
“you’re so cute.”
“what?”
“you think this impresses me?” hyunjin blinked in confusion at her.
she laughed placing the tissue down and reaching up to his neck. “jinnie when have you ever seen me eat fancy chicken?” she gestured to the burnt mess over her shoulder. “or drink expensive champagne?” he looked over to the other side of the kitchen where the bottle of champagne had been popped but split all over the counter. “so you don’t like the suit?”
“the suit is gorgeous.” she ran her hands over his neck down to his chest. “but you face is telling me it doesn’t feel as pretty as it looks.”
“oh thank god.” he pulled his jacket off in one movement and unbuttoned the top few buttons of his dress shirt.
“erm careful that looks expensive!”
“it’s fine it’s versace. they’ll send me a new one next week.”
she laughed as hyunjin dramatically sighed swaying his arms around to cool down.
“you know what does impress me?” he titled his head to the side.
“your cute little face.” she squished his cheeks in which he grabbed her hands and dodged her from doing it again. “but seriously hyun never think you’re cooking again.” she deadpanned.
“actually i think i have something you may like..” she looked at hyunjins mischievous smile as he moved into the living making sure she followed behind him.
the room looked normal which confused her. hyunjin walked up to the couch grabbing the remote and turning it back on. it had been playing some playlist on spotify, one he had created. “you made a playlist?”
“for us.” he smiled dropping the controller back onto the seat before moving closer to her once again.
“seriously?” she looked at all the classic love songs he’d added from his favourite films and songs they had built special connections with.
she didn’t believe it. out of all the things he’d planned for tonight, this had to be the most romantic thing. a stupid spotify playlist.
“can i have this dance m’lady?” he propped his hand out waiting for her to take it.
“never call me that again.” she laughed taking it as he wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her closer. “okay love.”
her other hand landed back onto his broad shoulder shoulder stroking up and down. some cheesy love song playing as he starting guiding her around the room.
he was a professional dancer of course he was going to be flawless with ball dancing, even in a sweat fill suit. he moved her around letting go of her hip as he attempted to spin her without getting tangled together. she could no longer smell the burning from the kitchen, or feel the sticky residue on hyunjins suit just him. she could only see him, feel him. just the purple haired man in front her focusing on not muddling up his feet under pressure.
“you know, you’re a pretty romantic man.” she sighed as the song came to a finish and another started to play.
hyunjin didn’t let her go in fact pulling her closer so there faces were close enough to touch. “really?”
she hummed looking up at his beautiful. “i really love you.”
“what?”
hyunjin looked mortified as he realised the words that had slipped out his mouth. she smiled big leaning up to his kiss his lips lightly. “you’re so cute.”
“are you not going to say it back?” he pouted and she groaned.
“i love you too hyunjin.”

Hannah is so real for that 😭
𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀・1.2k / 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴・chan x gn!reader / 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗿𝗲𝘀・fluff, fluff, fluff, hurt/comfort, established relationship, berry being the perfect baby angel she is. inspired by these bubble messages and @cosmic-railwayxo's treachery. (love u deni)
𝟬𝟲:𝟯𝟲 — “Where’s my baby, hm?”
This is the question on Chan’s lips the moment he lets go of the bedroom door, closed with agonizing caution as to not wake the figure still curled up under the duvet inside.
It’s early. Early enough so the walls are colored a rich beige by new rays of sunlight, so his footsteps are the only sound reverberating around the hallways when he commences his search. Early enough to evidence how he was only bestowed a few hours of sleep before waking up with a budding headache and leaden eyelids.
But he doesn’t mind the lack of rest, not this time. Not when there’s a wad of love with a freckled snout and floppy ears under the same roof for the first time in too long.
“Berry?” Chan calls, his voice tattered and low, like sandpaper. He rakes his eyes over the spots he remembers to be her favorite. Maybe they’ve changed since he was last home. Maybe everything has changed since he was last home.
The thought causes a familiar pang to go off within him, poignant and powerful, but the quiet scuffle of paws against hardwood takes the edge off the guilt straightaway.
Chan finds the beginnings of a smile on his lips before she even rounds the corner, and when she does, well. His grin might as well split his face down the middle. He’s on his knees in seconds, outstretched hands rediscovering home in the puppy’s silky fur as she clambers onto him with blown pupils and excited pants.
His adoring coos of her name falter into muted laughter, which then fragments into a sob. His vision narrows to his precious girl and then starts to blur. When Berry climbs up to give his cheek a few happy licks, she’s fascinated by its saltiness.
You emerge from the bedroom a little over an hour later. Sleeping is hard enough when you’re jetlagged, and even harder when there’s only mattress where you remember Chan’s warm solidity to be. The fabric of Chan’s hoodie suppresses your vocalization of his name as you ungracefully pull it over your torso, still struggling to rouse your body from sleep.
Your beckon produces no response. You wrap a hand around the nearest door frame and peek your head into the living room, a little more alert now.
“Chan? Baby?”
You feel silly. How many visits has it been for you to still feel this nervous, wandering around Chan’s family home? Yet you undoubtedly are, whether because of your absentee boyfriend or that his whole family is a few walls away. You pad through the silent abode with mounting trepidation and intense care to not make any more sound than necessary.
Then you reach the family room and instantly come to a standstill, hands drifting to your sides, features deliquescing to a soft smile.
Lying on the nearest couch is your boyfriend, head propped up on top of his elbow, his fluttering lashes and gently oscillating shoulders indicating that he’s asleep. You can’t see his face below his eyes, as he has his nose nuzzled into the Cavalier spaniel resting securely in his arms, snoring tacitly into his sleeve, slumbering as deeply as her human companion.
You’ve been stumbling upon Chan sleeping in unexpected places for the better part of two years now, but you still liquefy every time as if it’s the first. These are the moments, you’ve come to realize, when you can care for him in ways he would never let you while conscious: a lift of his laptop off his thighs, a brush of your lips against his hairline, a cardigan draped lightly over his back. These are the moments when you understand in full how far you’ve come together, for him to trust you with his exhaustion with such transparency, to be so vulnerable as to leave you with memories of him that he’ll never have.
Despite your prolonged experience, it’s hard to describe what exactly you’re feeling in this moment. The mere mention of Berry has always dissipated the shadows that veil his face, has always chased off the burdens that cling to his spine. How do you put it into words, seeing your happiness at his happiest?
It suddenly occurs to you that the window beside them is cracked open. That, and you spotted extra quilts in the top shelf of Chan’s closet last night.
Chan’s eyelids lift when he feels the gentle weight of a blanket fall upon his body; so do the corners of his lips, when the culprit materializes before him. Sitting on the edge of the couch, a hand hovering over his frame, face creased into a flinch.
“Sorry,” you whisper, closing the distance between your fingers and the curve of his neck. The pad of your thumb moves over his cheekbone like a willow branch skimming water. “I didn’t think that would wake you up.”
Both of you up, you mentally amend, seeing as Berry has noticed your presence and is wagging her tail with enough vigor for it to thump against Chan’s chest. He lets her wriggle out of his arms and into yours; you emit a noise of glee and gather her into you.
If only you had seen the expression he wears then, watching your eyes scrunch closed at the frenzied kisses she presses to your face. His first love and his very last.
“Don’t apologize,” he answers. “I’m the one who should be sorry for leaving you in bed, angel, I just…”
His voice trails off, but he knows by the softness in your irises when they meet his that you already know.
You move like clockwork. Chan presses up into the back of the couch, the quilt’s edge lifted in wordless invitation. It is your chest that Berry burrows into this time, the top of her head sliding into the space between your chin and the sofa’s cushion. It is Chan’s chest that you’re folded into, the arms around your waist like the coziest of cabins in a sun-spattered wood. It is the back of your neck that he nuzzles his nose into, but not before he litters gossamer kisses across the expanse of skin, as if printing the notes to a lullaby he knows well.
Everything is warm, so warm, so right, and jetlag starts to feel like a distant trouble.
You open your mouth while teetering on the cusp of a dream.
“Baby?”
He hums into you, listening.
“Always be happy, okay?”
You don’t notice the solitary tear that traverses the bridge of his nose, lands in the cotton of your hood, and dyes the bunched-up fabric a few shades darker. You don’t notice how his embrace around you tightens marginally, like how one’s eyes can’t help but find their dearest possession when the building’s on fire.
“Okay,” he whispers, and kisses your nape once more. Your and Chan’s eyes close together. Berry licks your chin again, then follows suit.
(Another hour later, Chan’s parents walk into the family room. They decide to go out to breakfast for fear of making too much noise in the kitchen, Chan’s mother blotting away tears as she ducks into shotgun, Chan’s father laughing at her sentimentality while blinking back his own.
Another few hours later, Hannah takes maybe fifty-some photographs of the triad of unmoving heaps occupying their couch. Then she grumbles at Berry for being dead asleep at eleven in the morning: “Those two arrived here from across the world yesterday. What’s your excuse?”)

“Close your eyes,” Y/N giggled as she jumped up behind Seungmin; the man in question sighed in a dramatic way, though he did as she said and let his eyes fall shut with the faintest of smiles on his lips.
Pulling out two small balls of fluff from behind her back, Y/N giggled in excitement. She held them out in front of the man and waved them around giddily, the rattle of the keychains making Seungmin open his eyes again.
“Look!” Y/N grinned. “I got these for us. Miffy is mine … I got you Snuffy.”
She handed the little brown dog to Seungmin; he turned it around slowly in his hands, his fingers toying with the soft fur.
“Y/N,” Seungmin’s voice had adopted his familiar dry tone and Y/N couldn't help but grin. “Do I look like your dog?”
Y/N squeezed her arms around his shoulders, her body half clinging onto his body, half swinging around her. “Do you want the truth?”
Seungmin turned his head ever so slightly and glared at the girl.
“Do you like it?” Y/N asked. She bounced her Miffy plush down Seungmin's arm, the man's lips twitching as he watched her bump it against the dog in his hands.
“Maybe,” Seungmin said. Y/N started to laugh at his impassive face, and when Seungmin tucked it away in his pocket, she grinned.
Seungmin cleared his throat. “Thanks.”
Y/N's grin widened, her eyes sparkling as she tried to hug Seungmin even harder. He grumbled but accepted her clinginess anyway, the only thing implying he enjoyed it being his slow leaning back into her. His body seemed to melt into hers and Y/N giggled as she kissed his cheek, her fingers mischievously going to cup his face before squishing it into a funny shape.

Jeongin stared blankly as Seungmin jumped around the practice room. His hair flew in energetic waves as he almost bounced off of the walls in excitement; tightly clutched in his hand was the plush keychain Y/N had given him, and Jeongin sighed when he realised he was Seungmin's next victim.
“Look how cute he is,” Seungmin said for the sixth time. He smiled widely as he grabbed Jeongin by the neck and waved the plushie at him. “Y/N got me it!”
Jeongins's lips pressed into a thin line as he sighed. He patted Seungmin's shoulder. “Good for you bro. It's very cute.”
From the other side of the room, Hyunjin burst out laughing. He collapsed into the mirrored wall behind him and banged his head against the glass; it only made him shriek with more laughter, his hands clapping together once as his hair flew into his eyes.
Chan looked up and shook his head. There was a tender look on his face as he watched Seungmin shoot across the room, showing each one of the members the newest addition to his Sanrio collection.
“What has she done to him?” Jisung asked loudly as he sat down beside Chan on the floor. He cracked open a bottle of water and missed his mouth completely In his eagerness to get the beverage down him; it splashed over his front and spilled onto the floor, and he smiled guilty at Chan who sighed laboriously.
“I have no idea,” Chris said as he mopped the water up with a crumpled napkin from his pocket. “But I'll have to thank her some time … I've never seen Seungmin this happy, like … ever. It's adorable.”
“It's weird,” Jisung said. His entire face exploded into one of amusement as he watched Seungmin launch himself onto an unassuming Minho.
“I don't care!” Minho yelled in annoyance as he stormed away from Seungmin.
Seungmin grinned devilishly and dashed after Minho with his hand outstretched, his keychain dangling from his fingers.
“Wow,” Chan chuckled as he watched the scene unfold. “Now that's definitely something.”
From an inconspicuous corner, Jeongin was whispering in hushed tones into his phone.
“Y/N! Can you stop buying Seungmin plushies?” Jeongin hissed. His eyes were wide as he surveyed the chaos brewing in the room; Seungmin was chasing everyone around with a manic glint in his eyes, his mouth open with a happy grin and the Snuffy plush wiggling around in his hand.
Y/N giggled over the phone. “What? Why?”
“He won't shut up about Snuffy!” Jeongin whined. “We've barely finished practice and he's shoving it in all our faces … I am tired, Y/N.”
“Really? He barely reacted to it when I gave it to him yesterday,” Y/N said.
Jeongin wrinkled his nose. “He tries to act cool in front of you. Wait a minute … I'm going to send you a video.”
☆*☆*
“So … you really like the keychain, huh?” Y/N asked nonchalantly once she was cuddled up on the sofa with Seungmin.
The ghost of a smile passed over Seungmin's lips. “It's okay.”
“Really? Is this how someone acts when things are just ‘okay’?”
Y/N held out her phone to him; Seungmin's eyes widened and the entirety of his face and neck flushed the colour of beetroot as he saw himself running around the practice room like a headless chicken. His mouth fell open and he tried to reach for Y/N's phone; but she pulled it away and burst into a fit of giggles at the shyness creeping over him.
“You're so cute,” Y/N grinned. She tossed her phone to the side and threw her arms around Seungmin who had now closed the hood of his hoodie around his face. Only his nose was visible and Y/N kissed it as she squeezed him tightly.
“Who sent the video?” Seungmin's voice was muffled.
Y/N smiled. “Not telling.”
“That's not fair,” Seungmin grumbled. “Who's side are you on? Mine or his?”
“His,” Y/N said. “Because he sends me cute videos of the cutest man in the whole world.”
Seungmin pushed his hood back and stared at Y/N.
She smiled back cheekily. “Oh, wait. Cutest dog in the whole world.”
