Have You Heard The Story of LaVena Johnson?

LaVena Johnson was a soldier who enlisted in the Army in 2003. She was the first woman from Missouri to die in Iraq. What happened to this young black woman was appalling.  She was found in her tent with a gunshot wound to the head, a broken nose, black eye, loose teeth, acid burns on her genitals, and a trail of blood leading away from her tent.  What’s even more appalling is the Department of Defense has officially ruled her death a suicide.

The autopsy report and photographs revealed that her death was inconsistent with a suicide, and looked consistent with a rape-murder, but as far as the U.S. Criminal Investigative Command for the Army is concerned the case remains closed.  Her father became suspicious when he saw her body in the funeral home and decided to investigate.  At first the Department of the Army refused to release information, but eventually it did under the Freedom of Information Act after Pat Tillman’s death.

Police are asking for help identifying a 2-year-old boy who was found alone  on the South Side in the city’s East Chatham neighborhood. The boy was found on the 8100 block of South Ingleside Avenue. Police said he is about 2 years of age and is  incapable of articulating his name or address.

He was found wearing a red and white striped shirt, blue shorts and white gym shoes, police said.

In a community alert, police describe the child as a black boy with a dark complexion and a large afro. He is about 2 feet tall and weighs 25 pounds.

Anyone who can identify the boy should contact the Area South Special Victims Unit at 312-747-8274.

Elliot Earl Williams is a 37-year-old Army veteran with a history of mental illness. As you know, nearly half of people returning from hot zones have mental illnesses such as PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) or TBI (traumatic brain injury) and shouldn’t be blamed. He was arrested in the hotel for having a mental breakdown.

He needed immediate mental health care!

Instead, he was given nothing but disgust. He was left naked in the cell for days unable to eat, drink and even move, until he was pronounced dead. He was treaded like an animal! Luckily, there was a camera in the cell and you can see everything by yourself.

This horrible attitude towards Black veteran is an outrage.
