Can you please reblog if your blog is a safe place for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, asexual, aromantic, pansexual, non binary, demisexual or any other kind of queer or questioning people? Because mine is.
oh my fucking god THANK YOU! these are literally my exact thoughts?! do you have any idea how hard it is to find fanfic that doesn't bash ron but is anti hermione? i don't hat her either and can sometimes enjoy her character but i get tired of the same thing over and over where ron is an evil bastard and hermione is everything good and pure in the world.
percy is the best hp character full stop.
I have several posts about my issues with the twins but it mostly boils down to them almost killing a classmate for a stupid reason and send him into catatonia.
love this post!
What harry potter characters do you love but have no problem with people bashing? and what characters can you not stand being bashed?
Hello anon!
Aight, let’s get to work:
Harry Potter himself:
He can be painfully stupid a lot of the times, but gets bursts of intelligence every once in a while cause of plot reasons, can be quite insensitive, and can be pretty arrogant.
Hermione Granger:
She acts morally superior just because she reads more than others, she’s judgemental, close-minded, bitchy, and can do some EXTREMELY fucked up things. I think of her as completely grey when her character gets looked at objectively, because—unfortunately due to Harry being Mr. POV and Hermione being Rowling’s self-insert—many horrifying things she’s done get glossed over.
Draco Malfoy:
I do love him (he’s my 2nd favourite HP character) but there’s no denying that he was a blood-prejudiced bully who deserved a punch in the face, and I 100% understand why people dislike/hate him. I only like anti Draco content when it’s from Snape fans, other fans can be too much sometimes.
Ginny Weasley:
She was an absolute bitch in HBP! The way she treated Ron and Fleur made me wanna throat-punch her. Throughout HBP, she was horrible to him about both his insecurities with Quidditch and his insecurities with relationship experience—even when Ron was being overprotective when he saw her making out with Dean, he definitely did not deserve that.
Remus Lupin:
Remus and I… we have an odd relationship. I love Remus. I do… I really really do… but the things he does sometimes make me want to go “NYAHHHHHHHHHHHH” every time I reread the series. Most of his fans overlook his flaws, which is incredibly disappointing because I find his complexity and flaws extremely fascinating… that’s literally why I loved him in the first place. Even when criticising him, his fans still tend to gloss over the negative aspect(s) of his character. Unfortunately, I’m on the anti side when it comes to him, I only interact with his fans if they’re Remadora (and a lot of the times Prongsfoot) shippers.
I’m not gonna bash him or explain anymore cause it’s actually his birthday today and I only just remembered it a few minutes ago. I was actually planning on making an anti post about him today but then I remembered it was his birthday today and I just can’t do it. I love him too much to do that.😭😭 So yeah, you guys are gonna have to wait a few more days until I make an anti post about Remus, sorry not sorry.
Fred and George:
They were cruel bullies a lot of the times. Their flaws get overlooked by a majority of this fandom and they’re seen as harmless pranksters, which is rather irritating. They tried to lock Percy in cursed pyramid, which I’m pretty sure can count as attempted murder, and they gave Ron arachnophobia. The twins show a blatant disregard for people’s safety and well-being a lot of the times.
I’m gonna stop here and just say that: I’m alright with almost all HP characters being criticised and sometimes bashed. Every single HP character is problematic—besides Luna and Neville. There’s nothing wrong with pointing out their flaws. Over exaggerating their flaws? Yes, that’s wrong. But merely pointing them out? Nope.
Ron Weasley:
Most of the things he did that he gets bashed for are completely normal for a teenager. I mean… making an ass of yourself during a party, getting mad at your friend(s) over silly things, dating someone you aren’t really interested in because you like the attention, getting jealous, saying mindless things without thinking it through etc etc. Those are teenage mistakes. That’s common teenage boy idiocy. This fandom excuses Draco and the Marauders’ heinous acts by claiming that “they were just teenagers🥺” but when Ron does things that are 100% normal and are done many times in real life, he gets demonised for it. Make it make sense people!
Percy Weasley:
How. Fucking. DARE. YOU. What did he even do?? His family (besides Molly) was horrible to him! He never bothered anyone and no one in his family gave a shit about him except when Gred and Feorge (not a mistake) treated him like crap. He deeply cared about Ginny and Ron, and Arthur didn’t even try to make things better despite them literally working at the same place. Let’s not forget that no one besides Molly bothered contacting him for years… and when there was a war going on. Upsetting Molly is literally the ONLY bad thing he ever did, other than that he never did nothing wrong.
Tom Riddle Sr:
He. Literally. Did. Nothing. Wrong. You guys are demonising him… because he “abandoned” his RAPIST? His R-A-P-I-S-T? Is this fandom fucking ill? He had every right to leave his son and Merope, he was raped… repeatedly… for months. The victim can never be blamed for not wanting to face the reminder of their trauma for the rest of their lives. He was kind to Cecelia and comforted her when she was shocked by Morfin’s dead snake. And the only people he was ever rude to were the Gaunts and they were pretty much insane. One called him “filthy” and one hexed him.
Have a nice day, anon!
accidental luisa madrigal fanart 🤣 wasn't my intention but honestly look like her if she wore a shorter skirt and had straighter hair since this is my most anatomically correct person so far, i'll take it!!!
I love them so much oh my god
Based on this post I made
Oliver frowned at the twins who sat on the other side of the table. “What’re you talking about?”
One of them, Fred maybe, turned towards him with a grin. “Just that Percy is the weakest physical in our family and that’s saying something with Ron being our brother.”
Ron, who had been talking with Harry and Hermione quietly, turned around and glared at his brothers. Harry and Hermione had both given Fred, (or was it George? Oliver wasn’t sure) the stink eye and shifted closer to their friend in comfort.
“I know what you’re talking about,” Oliver said with a hint of annoyance in his voice now, “I wanna know why you think that.”
Others at the table had started to turn their heads towards them in interest, Oliver was annoyed and a bit baffled to see that everyone was looking at him incredulously. As if he was the one who had said something that made no sense.
“Because it’s Percy?” George said in confusion.
Others around them nodded along as if that was all the information they needed to decide that. Before he could say anything a first year started snickering, Oliver turned his head and saw Percy walking into the Great Hall with a cup of coffee in his hands. Probably had five spoonfuls of sugar with his sweet tooth, at least.
Turning towards the twins he gave them a manic smile, “If I run and leap at Percy, he will most certainly catch me in his arms.” Oliver said with a confidence that he didn’t even have going into a quidditch match.
Lee choked on his pumpkin juice while the twins stared at him with open mouths.
“Oliver,” Hermione started off nervously as she looked at him with wide eyes.
But Oliver didn’t let her finish, he jumped off the bench and turned towards Percy who was busy talking to a first year, probably about homework from the looks of it.
Oliver sent the other a grin, everyone was watching now and he could see the professors glancing at him warily.
“Coming in!” Oliver yelled as he started running towards Percy at full speed.
Percy’s head shot, curls bouncing slightly, his eyes widen in alarm. “No! I’m holding coffee!” He yelled in alarm.
Too late now, Oliver thought as he jumped into his roommates arms with a wide grin. Percy had dropped the coffee just in time, he stood there with Oliver in his arms and a mournful look on his face as he looked at the shattered mug and spilled coffee.
“Couldn’t have waited until I finished my cup could you?” Percy muttered as he shifted the other boy in a more comfortable position.
“I don’t even know how you can call that coffee, it’s basically just a cup of sugar.” Oliver said rolling his eyes as he grinned at everyone else.
Percy blinked at him for a moment before looking around and turning pale, Oliver couldn’t help but stare at the way his freckles stood out on his now very pale skin.
But he had to be a good friend instead of a lovesick idiot first, Oliver tore his eyes away and looked at everyone else. Everyone, and Oliver meant everyone, was staring at them. His eyes flickered towards the Ravenclaw and Slytherin table, he saw Marcus and Penny looking at them with amusement.
Assholes, Oliver thought fondly. Of course those two would happily sit back and watch instead of helping.
“Oh bloody fucking hell,” Percy muttered dazedly.
An odd noise came from the Gryffindor table at that, Percy must have said that louder than he thought. He also must have realized this by the red blush that was climbing up his neck.
“What the fuck,” A student whispered to themselves.
That was the breaking point for Penny apparently. The girl snorted before slapping her hands over her mouth with a mortified look.
“Oh wow, real smooth Clearwater,” Marcus muttered before freezing.
“Real smooth,” Penny mocked.
Oliver decided to ignore them and instead turned towards the twins and other Gryffindors, “Still think he’s the weakest?”
Percy frowned in confusion before glaring down at Oliver. “You made me drop my coffee because you wanted to defend my honor!?”
Oliver shrugged, “Well, yeah- wait, wait Percy doNT!”
Percy dropped Oliver.
IM SO F*CKING EXCITED ITS BEEN MY FAV TEEN WOLF FIC SINCE CHAPTER ONE OH MY GOD!!!!!
im writing the last few paragraphs of proclaim the truth and do not be silent through fear and i feel SICK
i didnt realise ao3 was started in response to lj deleting account relating to p//edophi|ia and they explicitly support the posting of such works yikes
dont.....dont call me out like this!!!!!!
it’s so important for your health and well-being to get overly attached to a fictional man who is both deeply amoral and unbelievably, pathetically sad
So there has been a bit of “what if humans were the weird ones?” going around tumblr at the moment and Earth Day got me thinking. Earth is a wonky place, the axis tilts, the orbit wobbles, and the ground spews molten rock for goodness sakes. What if what makes humans weird is just our capacity to survive? What if all the other life bearing planets are these mild, Mediterranean climates with no seasons, no tectonic plates, and no intense weather?
What if several species (including humans) land on a world and the humans are all “SCORE! Earth like world! Let’s get exploring before we get out competed!” And the planet starts offing the other aliens right and left, electric storms, hypothermia, tornadoes and the humans are just … there… counting seconds between flashes, having snowball fights, and just surviving.
Oh my god you love percy *and* you like teen wolf?!?!?!?!!!! Ive found my kin oh my god!!!!!
TW SPOILERS DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED
UGH
WTF
ALLISON JUST DIED
I'M GOING TO CRY
oh my god i have a post exactly like this!!!! Great minds thing alike, eh?????
Hear me out here, but Percy Weasley’s fashion sense would definitely be dark academia.
- He’d like the muted palate of the colours and the sophistication of the style. It makes him look powerful, makes him feel intellectually superior. For him, it’s a fashion style, yes, but it’s also a lifestyle.
- Imagine him also being into muggle stationary, he learns all about if from his father, that’s their way of bonding.
- He substitutes parchment for notebooks with paper, it looks crisper and it saves money. He substitutes ink and quill for pens, it saves money and they don’t run out nearly as quickly.
- It starts a craze among the academic kids in the school, using muggle stationary was the new cool amongst them, the new practical.
Just, Percy Weasley and dark academia. It went off track, but I’m satisfied with this.
I absolutely love and adore this take, it feels really like its the most real and accurate thing that would happen in this situation, the way you characterized everyone does it perfect justice, especially the way you flashed back and compared Molly losing Fabian and Gideon.
I love love love this so much thank you for sharing!!!!!
Molly is hurt.
She saw her third son argue with his father and leave the house, never intending to come back.
Molly doesn't understand why he would leave? Yes she knows he had an argument with his father but he was in the wrong and Arthur....
Maybe she's not looking at this the right way. Maybe she's not looking at all.
A year and a half has gone by since Percy left the house and the Weasleys live in fear and in separation.
Atleast Bill and Charlie send regular letters.
Bill and Charlie did leave, yes but that's just their wild side. Percy on the other hand was the last one she expected out of all her children to leave home. And the way he left! If anything she had thought the twins would be the rebels.
She thought Percy leaving would have an effect on the family, a change in their dynamics, a conflict but there just wasn't.
Noone besides her cared.
And that scared her like no other.
She had been observing her children but they seemed to show no sign of any kind of care for Percy. If their regular insults of him were anything to go by.
The twins maybe the least. Fred and George seem to send him hate letters or that's what she thinks they're doing. She has not the slightest idea about how they are going about the whole thing.
She had overheard them plotting to send some potion to Percy and then she marched right into their room, claiming to know what in Merlin's name were they trying to pull. To their credit, they were ashamed that they were caught, yet not ashamed about how they were going to send something dangerous their brother!
Molly let them off easy. She shouldn't have but in the midst of a war, punishing them wasn't exactly an option and even if she did, it wouldn't heed any consequenses, would it?
Ron doesn't look bothered either about him leaving. It feels like Ron knew this would happen. Percy did love Ron, more than Ron could ever imagine. She remembers young Percy holding Ron and helping him with his nightmares, how he would lull Ron asleep. He would sing the sweetest lullaby!
Times have changed, haven't they?
Molly really didn't have anything to say. Ron never confided in her. She doesn't really know how Ron feels, he's never been the one to share his feelings, unless it was anger or hunger. Ron's found a new confidant in Harry and she couldn't be happier that Ron has a friend, even then she's afraid that Ron doesn't care about Percy and would refuse to believe that he's his brother.
Oh what's she talking about! He already refuses to acknowledge that Percy's his brother.
She had heard him say it, not only to Harry but to the twins and Ginny as well. Her children think that she's hard of hearing, but she isn't.
It's not fair.
Even her darling Ginny slowly succumbed to her brothers' opinion. Ginny quick to defend Bill but never to defend Percy. She did care in the beginning but now, she sides more often with the twins.
She didn't care either.
All the gifts that Percy had given her from a handmade book to a bracelet were thrown away. More like given away for charity but for Ginny, they were thrown away. Percy had written a book for Ginny, where she was a princess. He used to read it to her every night. She always used to sleep after he read it to her.
And now all that remains of it are memories. Memories that they wish would disappear because of their hatred of him.
Maybe the worst of them all was Arthur.
Arthur did not see any error in his actions or words. Molly had tried multiple times to to approach the topic to Arthur but everytime Arthur was furious and quickly shut her down.
They worked in the same place for Merlin's sake!
A year and a half and an argument that hasn't been resolved. Molly would think that by now either one of them would have gotten over it but it surely doesn't seem this way.
Arthur and Percy were similar, maybe only in physical features to the rest of the world but to her, she saw that it was their similarities that drove them to clash against each other. Angry and stubborn and an ego that needs to be fed.
Molly remembers the first time Percy got glasses. He came home, screaming her name in an urge to tell her something.
"Look Mum, I look like Dad now!" , he had told her proudly teeth sparkling and glasses too big on his nose.
"He insisted on getting those glasses", Arthur told her as he kissed her cheek
And she could see why, Arthur had the same glasses. They did look like each other except Arthur's hair was straight.
Where had that adoration and devotion go? How did it disappear so quickly?
Molly knew Percy wasn't the only one to blame, ever since Arthur had that fight with Malfoy in the shop, it looked like Percy had started to distance himself from his father.
Arthur for his part didn't understand the problem either, but laughing at Percy's expense with hsi other siblings were bound to make matters worse.
How did Molly not see this coming? Had she been so blind to the animosity in her home?
Molly understood sibling fun and rivalry quite well. She had 2 brothers of course.
She would have done anything to bring them back.
But her children wouldn't.
That thought unsettled her deeply, it made her feel fear, she didn't think was possible.
With those thoughts in mind, she set dinner for her family. She called her family down, Ginny and Ron bickering and the twins sniggering.
Arthur, exhausted approached the table as well.
3 spots remained empty.
1 spot that isn't supposed to be.
Molly ate in peace, trying to enjoy but her stomach wouldn't let her. She was worried.
Her children on the other hand were loud and bubbly, talking while eating.
Unsuprisingly, they started making fun of Percy, but in a hushed voice so Arthur couldn't hear. This wasn't the first time they had done this either. For a brother that they despise, they do talk about him more than Bill or Charlie.
Somehow they thought that their mother was deaf.
Well, she wasn't.
"Oi Fred, did you send Percy that "potion"?", Ron asked
"No, Mum interupted us before we could"
"Pity, well you could try agin tonight", Ginny had replied.
"Tell me again, what does the potion do?", Ron asked as he gobbled the potatoes on his plate.
"Well it's supposed to put you into a deep slumber and make your roam in your knickers", George had replied snorting into his hand.
Molly stopped eating. They weren't actually serious are they? They couldn't be.
Or could they? You really did fail as a mother didn't you?
Muriel's voice echoed in her head.
"That's absolutely splendid!", Ginny had remarked.
Even your daughter agrees to this insanity.
Molly had, had enough.
She might be termed as a bad mother for this, she might be out of her mind to do this but she had, had enough of this.
"ENOUGH!"
Her voice had caused all the seated members to flinch. Everyone's gaze was on here.
"'I'm tired. Tired of trying to understand where all this hate towards your brother is coming from."
"Molly what-"
"Please let me speak Arthur. I'm not hard of hearing, I can hear you planning pranks and now I hear about you 2 trying to comatize him?
"Mum-"
"NO. I've had it. I'm trying to understand you because I'm your brother but you as well as I know, a war is coming. A war takes thing. It took my brothers. Do you really want Percy dead?"
There was silence at that word - Dead. But the silence made Molly uneasy.
"Would you really not care if Percy died?"
Everyone bowed their head down in shame, even Arthur who avoided looking at her.
They didn't care if Percy died.
"Oh", Molly gasped.
They really didn't. She had been so blind.
Fabian and Gideon, she missed them, even if they annoyed her, they loved her and she loved them.
Her children just don't love Percy.
She didn't realise she was crying until Arthur called out to her.
Arthur so similar to Percy, yet so different. Arthur didn't care either. He never wanted to talk about him, never about the argument. And it turns out he doesn't care either.
Molly remembers her brothers' body, blood and blood. Oh so much blood, blood that stays no matter how much you clean. Blood.
It was the day after the funeral. Molly couldn't think of anything else besides Fabian and Gideon, how they wouldn't see their new nephew or get to be uncles to Bill, Charlie and Percy again. How she would never be able to hear their voices again or see their smiles.
She would do anything in this world to get them back again.
"Mum?"
She turns around to see young Percy with his hands behind his back, looking at her with concern in his eyes.
"You didn't eat anything so I made a sandwich for you!", a proud Percy presents a cheese sandwich for her.
Molly takes it, she hasn't eaten anything since yesterday, she just doesn't feel like it.
"Do you not like it Mum?", Percy asks.
"Of course, I do, I'm going to eat it now", Molly tries to smile at her son but fails miserably.
"I'm sorry about Uncle Gideon and Fabian, Mum. It wasn't right", Percy's voice becomes low as he says this.
"No it wasn't."
"But you still have to eat Mum! You have a baby! A baby needs nutrition!"
"Nutrition, that's a new word."
"Yes it is. I learnt it all by myself"
"You're my smart boy, Percy."
"I'll always be your smart boy, Mum."
And he is. He's so smart and she was so very proud but he's gone.
And maybe part of it is his fault. But that doesn't mean that they're completely blameless.
For the first time, Molly looks.
And she doesn't like how it looks. But it's the bitter truth she hasn't allowed herself to see. She sees the divide, she sees the family broken, something she convinced herself not to see.
If it was anyone else instead of Percy, would her children care?
They would.
And that makes all the difference in the world.
Molly leaves the Burrow. They plead for her to stay but she doesn't listen anymore. Where was this pleading when it was Percy?
She leaves and maybe that's for the best.
OK, I know I know my other fics are left buuuuuuttttt I'm writing them as you're reading this. Anywayyyyy have this oneshot, which I'm not sure is good really..... But I tried.
This isn't really bashing? I mean I'm trying to keep it realistic and this seems like the best way. You can assume whatever after the ending, it's open.
Have a good day!
I read somewhere you wrote Ares/aphrodite/Hephaestus In a fic, is this true and where is it? I had that same idea, and so happy!!
Thanks for the interest! I did start a PJO reading the books fanfic where they feature and its still only ne chapter even after all this time 😅, but its on my ao3 account also under RaysReads!!!!!
this looks so good!!!!!
- Five Weasley children in one holiday to a country they had never been to before. 1 in 5 were going to majorly fuck up, and the other four would laugh as they were made to clean up the mess.
It was inevitable.
Though what Percy didn’t know yet, was that he was the 1 in 5. And a certain Oliver Wood was entirely to blame. -

See my other post but Fred and George did indeed actually almost murder Graham Montague in 1995.
Excerpt: Fred Weasley: "He never managed to get all the words out, due to the fact that we forced him head-first into that Vanishing Cabinet on the first floor." Hermione Granger: "But you’ll get into terrible trouble!" Fred Weasley: "Not until Montague reappears, and that could take weeks, I dunno where we sent him." He was trapped in a limbo being ripped back and forth between Borgin and Burkes and Hogwarts (a place that activley repells any transportation magic) and has to apparate himself WITHOUT TRAINING OUT out of the cabinet IN HOGWARTS WHERE YOU CANT APPARATE!!!!! He reappears hafd dead and partially insane, doesnt speak for months and almost dies.
Excerpt from the wiki:
The Apparition nearly proved fatal to Montague.[7] He was left in a disoriented state for weeks afterwards.[8] In May, his parents, Mr and Mrs Montague, came to the school, looking furious.[8] Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger watched the couple arrive, and Hermione suggested that they should tell Madam Pomfrey what had happened to Montague, in case it would help her treat him.[8] However, both Ron and Harry dismissed this idea,[8] so Hermione apparently let the matter drop. Several weeks later, during the O.W.L. exams in June, Harry went to the Hospital Wing, where he saw Madam Pomfrey spoon-feeding a vivid blue potion to Montague.[8]
In short, yes the weasley twins are almost exactly as bad as the maurauders, if not worse since they basically almost killed someone and didnt care, unlike remus who was pissed and james (who despite being a horrible person) saved snape.
Fuck Them.
tbh i think fred & george would have gladly treated a random loner weirdo “totally a future death eater” slytherin kid the way the uwu marauders~ treated snape…
Yessssss!!!!!! I never see anyone in fandom discussing the fact that F&G hospitaized someone so badley to the point they almost died and were unresponsive for months!!!!!!!!!
This anti Fred and George thing that is going on is getting out of control. I am not fond of everything they did, especially when it came to Ron, but these people act like they are psychotic monsters who never did anything good in their life.
Thist this all of this!!!!! Sometimes i ship things with large age gaps, where one of the characters may be kind of young by some standards. And sometimes the characters are adopted siblings and sometimes the charcacters have been toxic to eachother in canon and sometimes they are completely ‘normal’ and the same age and fine.
But at this point ive been demonized so much that I barely even talk about it outside of specific cirlces.
Is it me or is the anti movement... really american? We have that stereotype over here that americans are super uptight about sex and super shy about it and obsessed with purity and hiding it from the children and stuff. Idk as a european it always striked me as a product of american culture
it’s very, very American. While there are certainly antis who aren’t American, many of them are.
I have a lot of theories as to why this is, but a lot of them are covered in this post: anti-shipping as the cool new trend (while it’s mostly about the age bracket of anti-shippers as of June 2017 (this time last year), it’s an americentric post talking almost entirely about US phenomena).
tl;dr version? anti-shipping is:
the natural result of growing up both LGBT+/queer and marinated in American-flavored Puritan Christianity/purity culture
with a side order of valuing safety over freedom
b/c you’ve always had freedom of information
but you’ve never known a sense of security
thanks to lifelong internet access
paired with post-9/11 paranoia.
add a dash of radical feminism/exclusionist thinking
never being taught how to think critically, and
zero education on sex of any kind, and
viola: anti-shippers.
Many, many years ago (it was Hallowe'en 1989, for the curious, the year before Good Omens was published) Terry Pratchett and I were sharing a room at the World Fantasy Convention in Seattle, to keep the costs down, because we were both young authors, and taking ourselves to America and conventions were expensive. It was a wonderful convention. I remember a huge Seattle second-hand bookstore in which I found a dozen or so green-bound Storisende Edition James Branch Cabell books, each signed so neatly by the author that the bookshop people assured me that the signatures were printed, and really ten dollars a book was the correct price.
I could afford books. Good Omens had just been sold to UK publishers and then to US publishers for more money than Terry or I had ever received for anything. (Terry had been incredibly worried about this, certain that receiving a healthy advance would mean the end of his career. When his career didn’t end, Terry suggested to his agent that perhaps he ought to be getting that kind of advance for every book from now on, and his life changed, and he stopped having to share a hotel room to save money. But I digress.) Advance reading copies of Good Omens had not yet gone out, but a few editors had read it (ones who had bid for it but failed to buy it) and they all seemed very excited about it, and thrilled for us.
On the Saturday evening Terry left the bar quite early and headed off to bed. I stayed up talking to people and having a marvelous time, hung in there until the small hours of the morning when they closed the hotel bar and all the people went away, and then headed up to the hotel room room.
I opened the door as quietly as I could and tiptoed in the dark across the room to where my bed was located.
I’d just reached the bed when, from the far side of the room, a voice said, “What time of the night do you call this then? Your mother and I have been worried sick about you.”
Terry was wide awake. Jet lag had taken its toll.
And I was wide awake too. So we lay in our respective beds and having nothing else to do, we plotted the sequel to Good Omens. It was a good one, too. We fully intended to write it, whenever we next had three or four months free. Only I went to live in America and Terry stayed in the UK, and after Good Omens was published Sandman became SANDMAN and Discworld became DISCWORLD™ and there wasn’t ever a good time.
But we never forgot it.
It’s been thirty-one years since Good Omens was published, which means it’s thirty-two years since Terry Pratchett and I lay in our respective beds in a Seattle hotel room at a World Fantasy Convention, and plotted the sequel. (I got to use bits of the sequel in the TV series version of Good Omens – that’s where our angels came from.)
[Terry and I, in Cardiff in 2010, on the night we decided that Good Omens should become a television series.]
Terry was clear on what he wanted from Good Omens on the telly. He wanted the story told, and if that worked, he wanted the rest of the story told.
So in September 2017 I sat down in St James’ Park, beside the director, Douglas Mackinnon, on a chair with my name on it, as Showrunner of Good Omens. The chair slowly and elegantly lowered itself to the ground underneath me and fell apart, and I thought, that’s not really a good omen. Fortunately, under Douglas’s leadership, that chair was the only thing that collapsed.
So, once Good Omens the TV series had been released by Amazon and the BBC, to global acclaim, many awards and joy, Rob Wilkins (Terry’s representative on Earth) and I had the conversation with the BBC and Amazon about doing some more. And they got very excited. We talked to Michael Sheen and David Tennant about doing some more. They also got very excited. We told them a little about the plot. They got even more excited.
[Rob Wilkins and David Tennant on the second day of shooting.]
I’d been a fan of John Finnemore’s for years, and had had the joy of working with him on a radio show called With Great Pleasure, where I picked passages I loved, had amazing readers read them aloud and talked about them.
(Here’s a clip from that show of me talking about working with Terry Pratchett, and reading a poem by Terry: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p06x3syv. Here’s the whole show from YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7OsS_JWbzQ with John Finnemore’s bits too.)
I asked John if he’d be willing to work with me on writing the next round of Good Omens, and was overjoyed when he said yes. We have some surprise guest collaborators too. And Douglas Mackinnon is returning to oversee the whole thing with me.
So that’s the plan. We’ve been keeping it secret for a long time (mostly because otherwise my mail and Twitter feeds would have turned into gushing torrents of What Can You Tell Us About It? long ago) but we are now at the point where sets are being built in Scotland (which is where we’re shooting, and more about filming things in Scotland soon), and we can’t really keep it secret any longer.
There are so many questions people have asked about what happened next (and also, what happened before) to our favourite Angel and Demon. Here are, perhaps, some of the answers you’ve been hoping for.
As Good Omens continues, we will be back in Soho, and all through time and space, solving a mystery which starts with one of the angels wandering through a Soho street market with no memory of who they might be, on their way to Aziraphale’s bookshop.
(Although our story actually begins about five minutes before anyone had got around to saying “Let there be Light”.)
The answer to half of these is ‘The Old Guard’ But this really helped with my own characterization!
I’m always looking for ways to improve my writing, especially writing male characters, and I’m happy to say that my WIP has quite a few of these. I think we can all agree that with the absolutely sickening influx of dark, broody, bad boys in YA fiction, having male characters with more nuance and hmmm I don’t know actual personalities is refreshing and something that all books need. Thank you guys so much for answering this poll(conducted through instagram), and let me know if there’s something else y’all want to be polled on that I can turn into a post! I didn’t change anything that you guys wrote, so there are some repeats on the list, but I think it makes a point to see how many people want to see the same (relatively simple) things in fiction!

Daaaammmmmmmnnnnn this was stunning
You’re the most recognised and internationally praised superhero, but you don’t fight any crime. Instead, you use your powers over stone and metal to repair the damage caused by the catastrophic fights other heroes get into.
Yes! ive never though about this much before but you’re absolutely right! theres no whay that someone as stubborn as ginny or hotheaded as ron would ever let that go overnight! please do continue this is so interesting!!!
What should Percy do if his whole family is against him?
Well not everyone but most of them are.
It's like a faceoff, a civil war really.
It all started after Fred's funeral. They were returning to the Burrow when Ginny asked.
"What about Percy?"
"What about him?"
"Are we just going to let him back?"
Percy knew all was not forgiven. He knew it. He expected this and he doesn't blame them.
"What do you mean?", Mum asked confused and shocked.
"It means he practically disowned us and now he's returning back, it doesn't make sense", Ginny argued.
"Now hold on-" Charlie started to say before being interrupted by Bill.
"I agree with her. He didn't even come to my wedding!"
"Your wedding ended with Deatheaters you buffoon", Charlie rebuffed.
Percy just wanted to disappear at this moment, he had nothing to say for his defense. It's a good thing George had gone inside the house already. Percy doesn't think he could handle this chaos.
"Arthur do something", Mum pleaded as Bill and Charlie blabbered on.
"Unfortunately Molly I agree with Bill and Charlie. He didn't even visit me when the snake almost killed me!"
Oh. The snake. But Percy was there. He did come to see his Dad. Dad was sleeping and Percy just stood there and then left because.. because he didn't know what to do or say.
"Arthur I am disappointed with you. Is now the best time?", Molly shrieked back at Arthur.
"Ginny's right. He even sent that horrid letter to me about how Harry is terrible. How could you Percy? And Umbridge, don't get me started on that cow", Ron argued.
Aah the letter. He's not proud of it. Not at all.
Fleur weasled herself in to the argument as well. She was trying to calm Bill down but he and Charlie were arguing and so is everyone else.
Weasley Civil War.
About him. Funny. He doesn't even want to defend himself from the accusations because they're right. And Fred is dead. Because of him.
"Can we fight later? George needs support right now not this argument about me."
And Percy strided as fast as he could to the Burrow without looking back so he doesn't have to face them.
I might do more on this. Got the inspiration from the fanfic Weasley Family Fallout
Protect yourself!!!!!
Farewell online privacy

“I can’t calm down!” Stiles screeched, loudly, as he whirled around in a flailing circle.
I'm writing a magical au where stiles has a horde of hornets as his familiar! I LOVE this idea and I am so excited to expand on it and keep writing it!
OMG im so excited!!!! this is the best!!!!

It’s been a little more than two weeks since Sam found him in the hallway and held him together, but Stiles can’t even imagine having to live without him.
this is from chapter twenty-one of proclaim the truth and do not be silent through fear, which i'm working on this next week with the goal of updating it... eventually. have some Sam and Stiles floof!
Claire Jordan in one of her Quora essays said that she’s been in fandom for decades and has never seen a character so loved as Snape. I concur. Excluding some recent trends that purposefully misinterpret Snape by projecting onto him a set of stereotypes he was never supposed to embody, Snape remains one of the most loved characters in the Harry Potter universe. Every poll on Harry Potter’s favourite characters confirm that Snape is always on the top 3, sometimes reaching first place.
This is not some “bad boy syndrome”. There are two main reasons for readers to have latched onto Snape so furiously, for Snape to have been so ardently discussed and defended after HBP – and these feelings only intensified after the 7th book. The reasons, I would posit, are:
1. Snape is a character that the narrative portrays as ambiguous.
2. Despite this, the narrative is often, objectively, unfair to Snape especially in favour of other characters.
Let’s address the first point. Snape is ambiguous because he has to be. There are two big plot-twists in Harry Potter: Harry is a horcrux and Snape’s loyalties. These two end up closely connected because it is through the knowledge of Snape’s loyalties that Harry discovers he must die to kill the part of Voldemort that is inside him. Snape is therefore largely written as a suspect in a murder mystery. Several commentators have argued that the structure of a Harry Potter book resembles a crime novel, and I agree. Snape has to appear guilty, but the books have to give enough clues to the reader as to his true loyalties. Independently of authorial intent, this is what makes Snape so compelling. Because:
a. Snape is cruel to his students but he constantly protects them (Harry, Draco, Katie Bell, Luna and Hermione, Neville and Ginny).
b. Snape is described as ugly but his use of language is the most sophisticated of the series to the point it becomes sensual. Just consider his first speech in class about the beauty of potions and how they “ensnare the senses” and “bewitch the mind”.
c. Snape is mean and petty but these characteristics are often accompanied by sarcasm and irony which make some of his most awful comments quite funny, such as him telling Crabbe not to suffocate Neville because he would have to mention it in a reference letter if ever Crabbe applied to a job. There is also a lot of incongruent humour in play with Snape. For example, him reading about Harry’s love life is hilarious because Snape and teenage drama are two irreconcilable dimensions.
d. Snape is cruel and bullying but the narrative offers several reasons for this. While Dumbledore’s past is revealed mostly through conversation, Snape’s past is slowly revealed in images which makes it much more vivid. Snape getting a glimpse of a werewolf at the end of a tunnel. Snape’s father yelling at his cowering mother. Snape upside down and petrified by Sirius and James. Petunia calling him “an awful boy”. More than any other character, Snape is rooted in a social context that brings with it inescapable references: poverty, domestic abuse, neglect, bullying.
e. Snape is often ridiculed (by Neville’s Boggart and by the map) but he is also given the title of “Prince”, a character with whom Harry sympathizes. He is also one of the characters who carries a sword, and whose love is presented as “the best part” of him. These are characteristics that ennoble Snape.
f. Snape is dismissive of people’s feelings but he is also the character who is defending children because of their mothers. Lily because of his guilt, and Narcissa whom he allows to trap him in an unbreakable vow to protect her son.
g. Snape is taken as evil but the character whom the narrator uses as a morality mouthpiece – Hermione – often defends him.
h. Snape kills a man but the narrative is quick to add that his soul would likely remain intact as it would be an act of mercy, arranged between the victim and the perpetrator as Harry reinforces. Harry goes as far saying that Snape “finished him” instead of using the verb kill or murder. Furthermore, we know remorse is something that mends the soul and Snape’s whole arc is about guilt and remorse – immortalized in the scene where Snape weeps at 13 Grimmauld Palace.
i. Snape is apparently a murderer but the narrative goes to some lengths to show that just like Harry Snape has a thing for saving people. “Lately, only those I could not save” and him risking his cover to save Lupin.
j. Snape’s trauma is often discredited but the narrative allows part of his tragedy to come at the expense of the hero’s father whom Harry spent years admiring. A relevant part of James’s goodness is sacrificed in favour of Snape’s own character construction.
k. Snape’s trauma in relation to having been bullied is more often discredited by the narrative, although Fudge’s comment “the man is quite unbalanced” and the comparison established between James and Sirius’s use of Levicorpus and the Death Eaters using it on a muggle woman shows that it is something to be taken serious, although never acknowledged.
This last point leads me to my second assertion that the narrative is fundamentally unfair and cruel to Snape. For two main reasons:
a. Snape’s trauma in relation to the Mauraders is discredited by everyone that counts, namely, Lily and Dumbledore. Only Harry comes closer to understand its dimensions. We can argue as to why this is, and as to whether there was authorial intent or it is simply that JKR didn’t realise how it would sound. Lily nearly smiles when Snape is being bullied which puts in question Lily’s character as well as her friendship with Snape. Both in Snape’s Worst Memory and in the conversation about the prank, she also fails to show concern that her friend was being bullied by the boy she liked.
b. The second instance of unfairness is more serious because it is far more insidious. A careful reading of text will tell us that Snape was set up for death by Dumbledore. That Dumbledore planted the Elder Wand on Snape while thinking its power had died with him and while knowing that Voldemort would eventually reach conclusions about the Elder Wand and wish to possess it, thus killing its current owner. Not only Dumbledore never tells Snape, but he plans it beforehand. This is why he “admits” to Harry that the intention was to let Snape have the wand. Harry understands exactly what this means, and in the Final Battle tells Voldemort that Dumbledore intended the power of the wand to die with him.
This is so insidious – and cruel – that it is never openly acknowledged. Dumbledore betrays Snape, showing an impressive disregard for his life – far more than he showed for Harry’s because he knew Harry had a good chance of survival. But Snape is never given the satisfaction of having this acknowledged in the text. Snape yearned for Dumbledore’s affection but not only Dumbledore denied him that, he also denied him the truth of what he really wanted of him. Snape is betrayed by both his masters at the end. But we are never explicitly told this. This happens because the narrative is unwilling to portray Dumbledore in a truly badly light. His apparent sorrow (“poor Severus”) and his “admission” of guilt are not enough to show him remorseful because the narrative cannot bring itself to say: “I set Snape to die by planting the wand on him so Voldemort would come to possess a useless weapon”. This would change the readers’ view of Dumbledore, especially after Prince’s Tale. Remark on how cruel it is: Snape had to agree to kill Dumbledore in “good faith” so the power of the wand died with him, but all the while Dumbledore knows that Snape would get a target on his back and die from it. Dumbledore manipulates Snape into – possibly – ripping his soul and tricks Snape into his own demise. Snape thought Dumbledore was raising Harry as a pig for slaughter, but he is wrong. It is him whom Dumbledore is raising to die. The fact that this is never openly stated, and is purposefully obfuscated by the language, is somewhat cowardly. Dumbledore barely apologises, he barely recognizes it. If he did, the readers would be horrified. As with Lily, Snape is again sacrificed in favour of apparently “better” characters whom the narrative wants the readers to like more.
However, the flaw in the plan is that…readers aren’t stupid. I caught on to this when I was a teenager, and it has only intensified as I grew older.
Even at the end, Snape understands from the moment Voldemort mentions the wand that he is going to die. JKR said in a tweet that Snape could’ve saved himself, presumably by setting Voldemort straight, and so his silence ensured Harry’s victory. It is a possible interpretation. More possible still is that Snape accepted death after giving Harry his memories. The fact that he stops trying to staunch the bleeding once Harry appears shows it. His “look at me” is the request of a man who knows he’s going to die and just wants to do so by looking at the eyes of the woman he loves. In this sense, following Dumbledore’s words that “there are things far worse than death” and that for an organized mind death is “the next big adventure”, Snape showed far more courage than both Dumbledore and Voldemort who on several occasions tried to fight the inevitability of death.
It is true the narrative offers some vindication for Snape. Harry tells Tom Riddle of Snape’s true loyalties. Riddle is not allowed to die before knowing that Snape had betrayed him and colluded with Dumbledore, all because of a power Riddle doesn’t understand – love. Harry also names the son with his – and his mother’s – green eyes Severus. Finally, Harry tells him that Snape was probably the bravest man he knew.
But still, Snape is not kindly written. There is an underlying cruelty in how Snape is treated throughout the books. Because he is so profoundly unloved, because he is barely shown kindness and because no one ever takes responsibility for what happened to him, the readers feel compelled to do so. That, I think, explains why Snape is so widely loved, and why people are so ready to defend him in unprecedented ways.mak
Yes! yes to all of this!
Percy is such a complicated character and such a good one andi find a lot of people dont understand that because in fandom he is mostly relegated to 'the annoying one'.
I don't understand how people can love and idolize the twins when all their page-time is of them playing cruel jokes and being basically the same person duplicated,
AND THEY ALMOST MURDERD GRAHAM MONTAGUE BY PUSHING HIM IN THE BROKEN VANISHING CABINET BC HE WAS GOING TO TAKE POINTS AND LAUGHING ABOUT IT WHEN HE REAPPEARED 4 MONTHS LATER CATATONIC AND TRAUMATIZED FOR BEING STUCK IN TWO PLACES AT ONCE AND HAVING TO APPARATE HIMSELF WITHOUT TRAINING OUT OF IT. He splinched himself and got lodged in a toilet because at that point he was brain damaged and you shouldn't be able to apparate within hogwarts He barely survived. He was unresponsive for months. And the twins never show remorse or turn themselves in for near-manslaughter or do anything but laugh.
Against that what has Percy done? This boy became Junior undersecretary to the minister at 18 and left because his family never tried to understand or even like him. He was young and disrespected and left. Wouldn't you do the same?
Percy rant because this blog needs more posts
Listen, Percy Weasley is a member of the Weasley family so as much as you dislike him atleast respect the fact that Percy exists because if you don't that is just insulting to the character to pretend he doesnt exist.
And if you do that you're as bad as the movies where Charlie wasn't there.
Next-
I think I resent the twins a little is because there is absolutely no character development shown. Apart from Gryffindor traits(brave, courageous, etc) and being funny, the twins wouldn't exist.
Notice how I say twins because there is absolutely no difference highlighted between them. They're both same or similar. All these differences are headcanons by fans. That's not what pisses me off the most.
The fact that there is no remorse or guilt for the pranks they play. There is no apology for sending Percy dung. No apology for catering to Ron's acronophobia. No apology for anything.
And when Percy comes back, Fred says he's a moron. Okay maybe that's brother talk but seriously?
There's no growth. They were immature when they were little and still immature at 20.
And then there's the whole leaving from school. I mean you are in your last year. All that is left are your exams but you make the reckless decision to leave immediately. After which there are no consequences of your actions. Your parents forgive you and all is well.
The twins never receive any punishment which obviously bolsters their confidence and they become more wild.
Percy is a good person and a good brother.
If someone insults you constantly and it's your own family who does so. Imagine
In your mail you receive animal dung.
You get trapped into a pyramid
You overhear your brother talking about how you're the worst person to their best friend
Your father laughs at you and doesn't show you respect.
Your father accuses you of betraying them
Your father tells you you got the promotion due to him and not from your hardwork
Your brothers take your things and ruin it constantly
Your brothers make fun of you in front of your boss
Your brothers and sister throw food at you
You have a special nickname known as git which is not used fondly
Your gf is in a coma and you overhear your brother making fun of her.
You are accused of being an accomplice to your boss's illegal work and are about to go to court for a trial and your family is not bothered.
So you're tired of the torture. You leave.
And besides your mother noone tries to contact you.
Why should Percy return?
Let me make this very clear:
They weren't even worried about him DURING A WAR?????
So when I say Percy shouldn't have to apologise first I mean it.
Another thing
People who believe Percy left his family over a promotion.
Did you not read how Arthur accused Percy of being a spy?
Did you not read how he was treated by the twins?
Did you just ignore how Ron talked about him?
Did you ignore the fact that they believed a villain supposed to be dead was alive?
The entire Magic community believed that Harry was lying?
Did you not read how everytime he talked people kept shutting him down?
Did you not read the way his Dad kept disrespecting him?
It wasn't about the job. It was about the lack of respect in the Burrow. It was about the way he was ignored. It was about the way he is made fun of for being different. It was about the fact that being quiet is wrong. It was about how being smart is wrong.
It was about how Percy didn't fit in the Burrow and noone bothered to comfort him about it.
Finally people who believe that Percy was responsible for the Chamber opening.
1 question -How ?????
How is Percy stopping Ginny from telling Harry about the diary equivalent to opening the Chamber?
People who believe this, I can't waste my time on yall. I seriously can't.
And the real ending-
People who hate that Percy is alive and Fred dead.
Listen you're allowed to have favourites. But hating someone because they lived instead of your favourite character is too much a stretch don't you think?
You can have your opinions. You can dislike Percy. All that I'm asking is that you find legitimate reasons to dislike him.
Don't hate him for surviving a war.
I'll just like to end this with:
I relate to Percy Weasley and I believe that he is one of the best complex side character written and we should appreciate him more.
Percy likes celebrating the twins birthday.
That was a lie.
Percy hates celebrating the twins birthday.
Look he loves the twins to death and all but the day always starts with pranks.
Every. Goddamn. Time.
And guess who the pranks are aimed at.
Yep that's right it's Percy.
Percy laughs it off usually because it's their birthday. Not to mention April Fool's day on top of that.
And birthdays are sacred in the Weasley family except his apparently.
(They keep forgetting his birthday even though his and Ginny's are in the same month.)
Even the cake isn't saved fron the twins. The cake always blasts.
It's the one thing that remains same whether in Hogwarts or the Burrow.
The cake blasts. And mostly lands on Percy's face.
Percy doesn't mind. He loves sweets.
And after the war it's hard to be happy or funny or even attempt a smile. Everyone is moping.
Its April 1 today and noone is bothered to do anything except cry and be sad.
And Percy has enough of it. Today is one day he will not dwell in self hatred and guilt.
It's Fred's birthday.
It's George's birthday and he deserves a better one.
Percy bakes the cake in the kitchen. It's difficult to get it exactly to his Mum's style but he manages it.
He puts up the decorations and sets up the pranks.
Feeling content with his work, he goes to sleep.
"Aaaaaahhhhh"
Percy wakes up to screams and smiles.
So when he comes into the living room, he can't help it he starts laughing.
Ginny's hair is stuck up, her face black and Ron's hair is green. Charlie's covered in hair and Bill oh god Bill is stuck back to back to Dad.
He can already hear Mum screaming.
"GEORGE"
"What is it woman?", George mutters sleepily.
When he sees the spectacle in the hall he starts to laugh uncontrollably.
All his siblings are glaring at George.
"George you make my hair come down right now or I will..", Ginny makes empty threats but she's smiling.
"Sorry Ginny, I think it suits you. And Ron green is definitely your colour", George is still laughing as Ron throws a pillow at him which he dodges.
"Before we end up in utter chaos, we should cut the cake", Percy says before they realise it's him who did the pranks and start tearing him a new one.
George looks at him and smiles.
"CAKE CAKE CAKE",George is screaming, his eyes twinkling.
"But I didn't make any cake", his mum mutters before gasping.
The cake Percy baked is tall. And he decorated it too.
"Ummm I'm not as tall as Ron so I don't see how I'm gonna reach there", George asked scratching.
Percy caught an unsuspecting George and threw him on his shoulders.
(He'd cast a lightweight charm on George so he was as light as a pillow)
"WOAHHHH PERCE", George screamed
"Now cut the cake before I throw you down."
"Okay okay. Geez."
And George cut the cake. Alone this time.
Percy had no time to think about Fred before the cake smashed into his face and George.
Mostly on George.
"My revenge for all those years of cake exploding ", Percy said with a cake soaked face.
"BLOODY HELL", George screamt.
And when Percy turned around his whole family was laughing wildly. Even Mum.
"Thanks Perce", George whispered to him.
"Of course. No need to thank me George. This is what Fred would have wanted", Percy replied and then cursed himself for saying Fred's name to George.
"This is the first time I'm agreeing with someone when they say Fred would have wanted this because this is absolutely what Fred would have wanted", George said to him.
And Percy smiled.
"Now get me down or else I'll do something to you or on you."
"Don't you dare."
Okay, i’m actually awake now so lets list some more things that happened and include the later books!!!!
McGonnagal is very very biased and consistently takes more points and gives more detentions than Snape. Dumbledore is also biased and shows Harry so. much. favoritism.
I’m going to rehash this because there needs to be more emphasis on the fact that THEY LEFT A 16 YEAR OLD TO WRITE HIS PARENTS ABOUT THE FACT THAT HIS SISTER WAS MOST LIKELY DEAD AND THAT THE SCHOOL HAD BEEN HIDING THE FACT THAT STUDENTS WERE BEING PETRIFIED!!!!! and all this after he had been worrying about her all year and his girlfriend was attacked!!! Do you know how much guilt that boy must’ve felt? how do you even write a letter like that? The teachers weren't even going to floo call???
Remus Lupin, the man who never told the authorities that Sirius was an Animagus bc he didn’t want to face his mistakes. Remus Lupin, the man who brushed off his and his friends consistent bullying, torture, sexual assault, and almost murder of a fellow student as “a joke gone a bit too far” Remus Lupin, a man who forgets his medicine for a condition he hates and has dealt with his whole life and thus puts a castle full of unaware students are risk How is this man an authority figure?
Lets also reinstate a tournament that was disbanded for its high death toll!!!! And lets also let the entire student body shun and hex a CHILD for getting entered in against his will and do nothing to stop it!!!! And lets reinstate this tournament after obvious death eater attacks and an (alleged) serial killer breaks out of Azkaban and tries to (allegedly) kill a student residing at said school!!!! The ministry doesn't know that Sirius wont come for Harry again, they don't know that those death eaters wont attack again!!! But no! Lets host it here instead of going to France or Scandinavia!
Also, lets appoint a man to DADA teacher who is borderline insane and recently attacked his trashcans because he though they were Dark Wizards!!! let this man of all men teach students!!! Don't really reprimand him when he transfigures a student who he then shoves down another students pants!!! Like that isn't traumatizing!!! Lets give this man permission you use the unforgivable curses in front of students!!! Again, War Generation Students!!! The Longbottoms were in the order, you know what happened!!! “Lets show Neville exactly what happened to his parents and broke their minds so much how own mother doesn't recognize him! That’ll be great for his mental health.” “Lets also show Harry how his parents died for him in great detail and then immediately afterward draw the whole class’ attention to him!” Yes the man was a death eater but Dumbledore gave special dispensation for the curses to be demonstrated!!!!
Yes, once a younger student gets put in the tournament we aren't going to make the challenges easier!!! That wouldn't be fair!!! We are going to have a 14 YEAR OLD face a dragon and chain his friend to the bottom of the lake!!!
ALSO THEY CHAINED AN 8 YEAR OLD GIRL TO THE BOTTOM OF THE BLACK LAKE SURROUNDD BY MERPEOPLE AND GRINDYLOWS!!!! ANYTHING COULD HAVE HAPPENED!!!
Hagrid: *breeds a new creature for COMC class even though breeding new creatures is illegal* Hagrid: *has 14 year olds take care of said creature with unknown powers who cannibalized the other creatures* Amos Diggory: *works for the department of regulation and control of magical creatures and definitely heard about them from his son* Amos Diggory: *does nothing about said creatures* Hogwarts Staff: *does not report Hagrid for illegal breeding or stop the dangerous lessons that gave children burns and stings even though Hagrid definitely didn't know the effects the stinger venom could have had on students*
Lets give the most dangerous dragon to a 14 year old and not have him switch or assign the dragons in the first place.
Lets give the champions a difficult clue and not tell them what they need to do to prepare even though said 14 year old probably does not have the knowledge needed to decipher said clue.
Lets have no protection against falling in the broom sport where iron balls are enchanted to knock people off their brooms and grievously injure them often breaking bones and causing concussions!
Lets fill a maze with dangerous spells and creatures and have no way of seeing the competitors. How is one to send off red sparks when incapacitated because of an Acromantula, Blast-Ended Skrewt, Sphinx, or deadly spell??? Lets also not spell the cup against tampering!
Its totally normal for reporters known for slander to drag a teenager into a broom closet with that blasted quill. And then do nothing about the article. Why are they letting the worst reporter into the school at all!!!!
Lets do nothing about the crowds of students harassing and stalking the foreign celebrity! Or the students harassing and stalking the girl(s?) with veela blood!
Yes we teacher gladly ignore the slanderous bullying buttons that most of the student body is wearing.
We also ignore that Rita Skeeter is harassing minors is the gossip columns with unfounded romantic insinuations and making them appear in a horrid light.
No counseling once again after a dead student appears on school grounds, no Harry is totally fine after witnessing that, lets just ship him home! And the other students are totally not traumatized by seeing a dead schoolmate!! it’s fine.
Lets immediately give the death eater with information the kiss! Lets also not look for what happened to Barty Crouch Sr.’s body and blame everything on the new hire because he is poor and new and easy to blame!!! And then lets have a full inquiry for said 18 year old and then give him a high end job at your (Fudge’s) side so he feels indebted to you for this chance of redemption so that you and your associates can manipulate him further!!!
Lets ignore the bullying and students calling Harry crazy for saying he witnessed the rise of the dark lord.
Lets also punish said boy for getting punished by the manipulative ministry official (McGonnagal took points) and ignore him trying to tell you that hes being tortured.
STUDENTS ARE BEING TORTURED AND NO ONE IS DOING ANYTHING, SOME OF THE TEACHERS HAD TO’VE FOUND OUT!!!! ESP POPPY POMPHREY WHEN FIRST YEARS WHEN TO THE HOSPITAL FOR THE PAIN!!! DO SOMETHING YOU USELESS AUTHORITY FIGURES!!!
Bertha Jorkins goes missing? Oh its normal she’s fine! They say as she was tortured and killed
Fred and George never get punished for basically running human experiments in the common rooms!!!!! And for making money off of it!!!
Also Harry gets ignored by his mentor and basically abandoned and treated like a child bc Dumbles wants to ‘preserve his innocence’ or ‘let him be a child for as long as possible’. That boy was never a child! He had no childhood! He was locked up and starved and forced to do everyone's chores and cook as soon as he could reach the stove. He was thrown into hallways and had his head swung at by a frying pan and was beat up by his cousin and humiliated all his life. He was never innocent, was never a child, i wouldn't be surprised if he had to potty train himself. Dumbledore avoiding him and keeping his from the order and the prophecy was the worst thig he could've done.
Harry never gets counseling for seeing the local warlord murder people and attack arthur weasley with a snake
FRED AND GEORGE SHOVED GRAHAM MONTAGUE INTO THE BROKEN VANISHING CABINET! BEING IN TWO PLACES AT ONCE ALMOST DROVE HIM INSANE BEFORE HE APPARATED (without a license or much practice) AND LODGED HIMSELF IN A TOILET ON THE FOURTH FLOOR. THEY ALMOST MURDERED HIM AND HE WAS IN A FUGE STATE FOR MONTHS. HERMIONE SUGGESTED THEY TELL POMPHREY WHAT HAPPENED BUT HARRY AND RON SAID NO. HE WAS NEVER THE SAME AND JUST BARELY SURVIVED!!! FUCK YOU FRED AND GEORGE, YOU NEVER TOOK RESPONSIBILITY FOR ALMOST KILLING SOMEONE!!!
Oh! Percy left this year! The year where the Weasley families horrible treatment of him came to a head and they disregarded his achievements and how amazing it was that at 19 years old he had such a high position after years of being ridiculed and Arthur became the worst father on the planet!!! Percy is my favorite character and he deserved better.
Also Dementors. he had a full criminal hearing like those for genocidal maniacs like Bellatrix Lestrange. Yup that’s normal.
I would list everything the ministry did this year but i’m trying to keep this shorter than it already is so i’m just going to say that they slandered a minor in the largest wizarding newspaper in Britain for a whole summer, taught nothing and focused their energy on taking over Hogwarts rather than the war effort or finding out what really happened. Put the education of the magical children of Britain into the hands of said children because of their incompetency, and had the most dangerous artifacts in wizarding Britain (time sand, evil brains, de-aging bubble, prophecies) and the ministry itself behind such shoddy protections that 6 teenagers could break in easily. All this led to more people dying than necessary in the war.
Harry never gets counseling for watching his godfather get murdered right in front of him they once again ship him off with his grief bc he’s so fine and then wonder why he doesn’t trust adults.
Year 6: AKA the year where a grown man collects teenagers for their connections and teaches them to brew a date rape/obsession drug and then no one ever punishes Romilda Vane for using it on a fellow student. Its almost worse than mind control.
Katie Bell almost gets murdered and there is no investigation of who did it but thank god finally someone goes to St Mungo’s when they need it.
Ron gets poisoned, again no investigation, again no St Mungo’s. This is a school!!!! They deal with spells gone wrong and bumps and bruised and broken bones!!! Not Petrification, attempted murders, soul stealing possession, near death from a broken vanishing cabinet, and the deadliest poison in the world!!!
Also they never closed the school after death eaters broke in and they had to fight for their lives, and bill weasley was permanently disfigured.
Lets give teenagers liquid luck!!! That a great idea even though its illegal in certain circumstances!!!
And then Dumbledore says its a great idea to take Harry on a deadly mission, the same one that has killed in the past!!! Oh jolly itll be an adventure he says as Harry has to watch him be mentally tortured with the Draught of Despair and then almost killed by inferi.
Then he dies.
Only one thing to say about year 7: No one appreciated Regulus Black enough, we get one chapter and that is? Come on his is my second fav character and we only get a short section devoted to his tragedy?
End note: Again, Fred and George almost murdered a student and drove him to temporary insanity, never checking on him until he saved himself which injured him and permanently mentally traumatized him. All this bc he was part of the inquisitorial squad and tried to take points. They were uncaring of the fact that it may take him weeks to reemerge and never once were guilty that they almost killed him.
harry potter and the year a literal teenager was blamed for not noticing his new boss was acting weird and was given loads of shit and was held responsible but staff of the safest place and the best school in wizarding world and the best wizard failed to notice the man they knew very well was actually a death eater in disguise and got away without a single complaint aka the year nobody got a haircut.
