//Hello there, traveler. I couldn’t help but overhear your need for… ambient mixes. I have some here that I think you might enjoy.
Who can’t resist a thunderstorm and a crackling fire? Perhaps you can even pair it with the ticking of a grandfather clock.
Or perhaps you would like to find yourself in a coffee shop as rain pours outside?
Relaxing by the harbor, even?
Might you perhaps find yourself back in the Victorian era?
Maybe you’d prefer to hang out in a bar, listening to music and chatter?
Are you interested in listening to the ambiance of a lonely gas station instead?
How about the sounds of a cozy campfire on the beach?
Who can resist the sounds of a writer’s library from the 1930s?
I can’t resist the sounds of a fountain in a courtyard garden. Perhaps you’re the same in that regard?
Would you like to spend your morning in a meadow?
How about some birdsong in a forest?
Or a carriage ride through a forest?
A creaky pirate ship on the ocean seas during a storm?
A swamp at night?
Or even a seaside market?
Potion shop sounds, anyone?
Would you like some ocean waves?
And who can resist a campfire by the river at night?
How about a room under water?
Can you resist time spent at a mountain lake?
How about a spaceship?
Or piano from another room?
Every now and then, I don’t mind the sounds of a busy kitchen. How about it?
Maybe I can interest you in a night spent in a greenhouse?
How about a cozy street in Spain?
Or an Italian cafe at night?
I would not be surprised to find you back in an old library, of course.
Who can resist a nice winter cabin?
Or early morning ambiance?
I’m sure the wizard won’t mind if you stay here for a little bit.
A winter campfire with owls in the distance? Don’t mind if I do.
How about a train ride in the rain?
Or a car ride in the rain?
Have at it, traveler. Perhaps one day you’ll come back and I’ll have more to offer you.
Imagine: Its 2025. You're getting pulled over. A community representative approaches to let you know you have a taillight out. They don't need your license and registration, they don't write you a fix-it ticket. You're back on the road in less than five minutes. You swing by the store and grab a new light, not because you're afraid of what the city will do to you, but because you respect your community and know that having all your lights working is part of the driving privilege.
Your neighbors got into a loud spat a few weeks ago and without fear or hesitation, called a domestic assistance number. A counselor arrived and was able to talk the couple down and suggest solutions for their disagreement. No one was hurt, the kids participated in the discussion, and it's been quiet ever since.
Your friend has been struggling with addiction and you fear they might be a danger to themselves or others. You call a substance abuse specialist and they talk you through ways to help your friend get treatment. They offer to send an agent out to speak with your friend directly and provide information on harm reduction centers in your area.
Black and brown people are no longer being exploited through tickets and fines to pay for police. Trust is slowly being fostered in the community.
Teachers are being paid a living wage and students are being given more time, attention, and education. Books are up to date and classrooms are optimized to keep up with technology.
Trump is out of office.
It’s been a very long time since the name of a murdered black person was used as a hashtag.
Casual racism is no longer tolerated. The KKK has been classified as a terrorist organization. The Confederate flag isnt flown and has been removed from any official state flags or insignias. Most Confederate monuments have been taken down and placed in storage or museums.
You trust the investigation force to deal with crime the same way you trust firefighters to put out fires.
That's what 'defund the police' looks like. What we've seen in the last few weeks shows how overreaching and power-drunk many officers are. We asked too much of them and then called them heroes despite evidence to the contrary. We let them think that they could get away with anything, including murder. Its time for change.
Copied and pasted.
Heard some important information on Twitter today, and thought I’d post it here for anyone who may not have heard it. This is actually a thing, devised by human rights organisation called Karma Nirvana.
Reblog to save a life?
I’ve seen a lot of posts on my dash tonight about users who are threatening suicide, with other Tumblr members posting in effort to try to get ahold of them. I think you all should see this:
IF THERE IS EVER A TUMBLR USER WHO HAS POSTED A GOOD-BYE MESSAGE, SUICIDE NOTE, VIDEO, OR ANYTHING OF THE SORT, PLEASE FOLLOW THIS POST.
1. Scroll to the top of your dashboard.
2. See the circular question mark icon at the top? It’s the third one over from your home symbol. Click on that, and a screen similar to the one in the picture will come up.
3. Where you can type in questions, the box with the magnifying glass at the top, type in the word “suicide.”
4. Click on the first link that shows up. It should say, “Pass the URL of the blog on to us.”
5. Type in the user’s URL and tell Tumblr admin that the user is contemplating suicide and has posted a message indicating that they are going through with it or will be attempting. Hit send! Tumblr administration will perform a number of actions to contact the user and take the necessary steps to prevent the suicide.
TUMBLR: THIS COULD SAVE A USER’S LIFE. PLEASE DO NOT IGNORE SUICIDE THREATS.
Reblog this to keep other users aware. Suicide isn’t a joke, and neither is someone’s life. If you didn’t know this, someone else may not, either. Pass it on.
I needed this today. Thank you

Storyville - Defying the Cutting Season
Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) has been illegal in Tanzania since 1998. But every year thousands of families still plan to have their daughters cut, an ordeal that could cost them their lives. The ‘Cutting Season’ takes place during the December school holidays.
During this time hundreds of girls are saved from FGM by the police, the government and the work of the Safe House. It is run by Rhobi Samwelly, who was herself a victim of FGM, and now, not only does she valiantly run the safe house but she also works with the local police to rescue and protect girls at risk while arresting the parents and cutters.
But they have a tough and dangerous job and old customs die hard. Men believe that girls must be cut to reduce promiscuity and cut girls command twice the bride price in cows as uncut girls. Girls like Rosie, just 12 years old, have had to make the most difficult choices of their young lives - run away from home, not knowing if they will ever see their families again, or submit to female genital mutilation and child marriage.
These brave and courageous young girls are fighting against a tradition that goes back thousands of years. They are standing up for their human rights and fighting for change in their community.
The Safe House is the one safe place they can escape to.
Hey Tumblr! It’s been a few years since I last did this but I’m back at it again. I like to think I’m the reason they’ve changed the system to get free books but either way nows your chance to help out. I know the power of the internet so just hear me out right quick as I ask for a simple favor. See those cereal boxes up there? If you buy any Kellogg’s product with that Free Book logo keep the receipt! They are doing it so that when you submit a picture of your receipt showing you purchased the product you can get a free book for yourself and donate a book. Or you can have both books donated! It’s super easy to sign up on their site so if you feel like doing that please do! Or maybe you’re lazy and you don’t want to do that. I’m asking you to send me a picture of your receipt! I set up an email especially for this: tumblrbooks4students@gmail.com Now I’m sure you’re wondering why I’m bringing it up, so here goes.
I teach kindergarten at a school where the kids have little to nothing. Through generous donations (government, three square, various community partners, etc.) the kids get backpacks, clothes, shoes, free breakfast/lunch, and some school supplies. The school is not in the best part of town. I’ve had students who live with grandparents because their own parents are in jail, kids who have parents that don’t have custody over them for various reasons, and so on and so forth. Now I am trying to get my kids to read books, but they literally don’t have any books at home that they can use to practice their reading. With COVID going on it’s going to be hard to have students get their hands on books because sharing is going to be a no go.
Here’s where you come in. If you happen to buy one of these specially marked boxes and don’t plan on using the receipt please send me a picture of that receipt (tumblrbooks4students@gmail.com). If 20 people on here send me a code I’ll be able to get 20 books, which will easily allow me to get each of my students a brand new book of their own. I will gladly take a picture of a handwritten thank you note from my students to show you how excited they are to get a book. They’re five so expect something awesome.
Even if you have no receipt or don’t buy the product I’d appreciate the signal boost. Thanks in advance.

If any of y’all didn’t know, there’s a free online library, aka
https://openlibrary.org/
and I found like, twelve ebooks I’ve been wanting to read on there, and blasted through like three of them during the course of a boring-ass shift.

every holocaust memorial day, i always ask people to keep romani people in their thoughts, but this year i’d like to clear up some misconceptions that i see every year w/ a psa
romani people are not white. we’re south asian (from northern india), and each subgroup has a unique racial makeup of asian/white/etc, in different amounts. this is also why we vary wildly in physical appearance/skintone
we still face oppression. what we face, especially in europe, can still be constituted as attempted genocide, as we’re forced to live in hazardous conditions or to give away our children, be sterilized, etc just for the crime of being roma
the ‘g slur’ isn’t just an american issue. the reason some european roma prefer the slur is because, in many countries, there is no term for roma that isn’t a slur, and it’s either the g slur or the literal translation of the n word. i’m romanian, and if you used the slur in my hometown, you’d get slapped, since we just use ‘roma’.
we live in every continent across the world. some of the largest romani populations exist in south america, predominantly in brazil. they are no more and no less roma than their european counterparts, and they, like romani in asia, africa, etc all face unique challenges and oppression.
we’re the largest ethnic minority in europe, and yet have almost no political power, no land ownership power (in some places, we’re forbidden from owning land entirely), etc. with very few reputable charities- a lot of us reject charity by principle, as well as there being a general lack of education about us- the best thing you can do to help romani people is to just spread information, and help individuals when you can.
An incel gamer who calls himself a nice guy, decapitated a 17 year old girl “who wouldn’t give him a chance” after she went on a date with another guy.
Signs of a heart attack are different for each gender yet we only really teach the male warning signs. Make sure you’re aware of both and spread it to as many other women as possible!
u/Cant_Even18 shares the horrific details of what it was like to have COVID.
Wear your masks. Wash your hands. Socially distance. And most importantly: stay the fuck home if you can.
Most important: Spend the money you have on a motel. Churches probably will not actually help and shelters can be dangerous or turn you away. At a motel you have free breakfast, access to running water, and a lockable place to sleep. Do not waste money on a gym membership like the popular version of this post says to do, YMCA memberships are like $40.
2. Contact family and friends. Now is not the time to worry about being a burden. Your survival and safety comes first and that is all that matters, anyone worth having in your life will agree.
3. Start a gofundme. Even if someone can’t offer you a place to stay, they might be willing to toss out $5 so you can eat today.
4. Libraries have free wifi. Apply to any and all jobs you can think of if you aren’t already working.
5. Any home is a good home. Even if it’s a dingy apartment in a bad neighborhood. If its cheap and you can afford it, snatch it up.
6. Pancake mix and peanut butter are filling, cheap, and last a long time.
PLEASE SHARE THE FUCK OUT OF THIS

What is actually going on in yemen:
CHOLERA OUTBREAK
the cholera pandemic has been going on since around 2016, and it continues to get worse every day due to the lack of public health sectors and aid, as well as the saudi led air strikes on water systems and food infrastructure
HUMANITARIAN CRISIS
yemen currently has the biggest humanitarian crisis in the world, with over 24 million people in need of aid
FAMINE
the famine in yemen is said to become the worst one in 100 years and it continues to get worse ever day due to the poor funding and saudi intervention (with the support of the us, uk & france). nearly half the population will soon be dependent on aid
CIVIL WAR
it started when the houthis (backed by iran) rebelled against the government and began to seize territories (taking over the capital sana'a). in order to get the houthis out, saudi began bombing yemen and thus the conflict worsened
WAR
saudi arabia (with the support of the us, uk and france) has been bombing yemen in order to get rid of the houthi rebels. this led to the deterioration of yemen's situation, as well as the death of many civilians. they target public infrastructure, water systems, schools, etc
CORONAVIRUS
there aren't many testing kits and the hospitals aren't equipped with treating it. basic necessities such as masks and gloves also aren't available, thus making the situation worsen (especially with everything else going on adding to it)
FLOODS
lately yemen has been experiencing really bad floods that have torn down homes, destroyed food supplies and killed people. these floods have attributed to the spread of disease too
PLAGUE
yes, there is literally a plague now. it seems to have come after the floods, and has people are dropping dead. i think they still haven't found the cause but it affects your lungs. i don't know too much on this issue though, so please add if you have more information.
ECONOMIC CRISIS
since the start of the civil war in 2015, yemen's economy contracted by 50% due to the inflation and devaluation of the rial. people are hungry because of poverty and lack of jobs, and while you could potentially flee war, you can't flee hunger.
BLOCKADE
the saudi military coalition currently has a blockade on yemen's sea, air & land ports which stops aid from coming in. though they apparently eased it a little, it's still there and having catastrophic effects on the situation.
EXTRA
here's more stuff that's happening in yemen
- no water & electricity
- high poverty rates
- food prices are too expensive
- multiple serious disease eg meningitis
- isis & al gaeda have carried out attacks
- corruption
ADDITIONAL NOTES
of course this isn't everything, all of these factors have consequences, like the collapse of public health sectors but i can't fit it all in. please research and educate yourselves on the situation, we're blessed to be in a time with multiple sources
Magical.
I wanted to make a proper post so people were able to get more info.
What is it?
It is a drive, hosted by yours truly, of Jewish books, articles, and more on several topics.
Who can use it?
Anyone! I don’t care your reasons for it’s use, because I just wanted to make education accessible.
What’s in it?
So glad you asked.
Categories, as follows:
Conversion, Feminism and Judaism, Fiction, Historical, Intro to Judaism, Jewish Radical Movements, Jewish Thought, Jews of Color, Kabbalah, LGBTQ and Judaism, Philosophy, Religious Texts
There is also three documents inside:
1. Jewish Journaling Prompts
2. Jewish Online Resources List
3. Recommended Reading List for Conversion
DISCLAIMER: Just because the content is there, doesn’t mean I 100% agree with all of it. I vet for expressedly antisemitic/horrible stuff, but some things are there to show the history of something, even if it includes Jews doing bad things (an example of an article about the Jewish radical right), not because I support it but because we have to carry all things, good and bad. Also, the word queer is used quite a bit in academic texts under LGBTQ and Judaism. Not really able to get around it.
Read to your hearts content! If you have any resources you want me to add (either requests on ones you have), DM me!
talk about yemen. talk about the 63,000 yemeni children that died of preventable causes. talk about how the UN dubbed it “ the world’s largest humanitarian crisis ”. talk about US’ major role in backing Saudi Arabia’s bombing. talk! talk! talk! this needs to get the deserved and much needed attention.
And it’s the children that pay the highest price. An estimated 85,000 children have lost their lives to extreme starvation alone. Every 10 minutes, a child under 5 dies of preventable causes in Yemen. When choosing what charities or goals you want to support during the last few days of Ramadan, I urge you to keep the children of Yemen in mind. And if you’re not celebrating Ramadan, or are not religious.. you’re still human.
These are a few of charities that I know of that you can donate to:

https://www.muslimglobalrelief.org/yemen-appeal (100% donation policy)
https://oxfamapps.org.uk/yemen

Remember, it’s the smallest donations that build up or even just rebloging/sharing would help. May Allah smile upon us all, and relieve the children of this world of their heartache.
Reblog this picture of me holding a Family Size box of Honey Nut Cheerios? I’d really appreciate it.
Hi, It would be nice if you could reblog what is happening in Poland right now:
70% of Polish queer kids commit suicides because of the hate they get, because of the support they are not given, because it is legal to say some city is a “LGBT-free zone”. They dehumanize us, they mock us, they kill us. SPREAD THE WORD
Day 1 of Tumblr’s #ActsOfPride campaign:
These are the black trans lives we have lost due to violence in the United States since 2009. Sadly, this is most likely not a complete list as many of the souls we have lost go unreported or were misgendered. They will not be forgotten.
