imagine this: trashmouth tozier could be shut up by someone playing with his hair gently and he would talk but in a softer voice and he’d get this sedated smile on his face 

like he would place his head on mike’s lap who would silently thread a hand into the wild mess, twirling curls around a pointer finger. the rest of the losers would be bewildered at a sober, quiet richie with half closed eyes and a content smile twitching at the corners of his lips.

so, everyone started doing it.

beverly would attempt to braid the curls whenever they would get high and poor rich would be absently there, the weed making him calmer and the playing of his hair releasing all tension in his body.  he would talk in a soft voice, softer than bev would ever imagine was possible, and answer her questions without abrasions of offensive jokes.

ben would use it whenever richie would talk too much and a little too much. (just enough for ben to know something was wrong)  “c’mere,” ben would whisper and he’d pull richie close to him before beginning to untangle all the curls with his fingers. richie would continue to fidget until his body slowly relaxed and he would curl up to ben’s side and just cuddle the boy until he was calmer and then, he would ask richie what was wrong. 

it took bill awhile to finally do it but he used it when richie caught him in a middle of a breakdown. richie had stormed into bill’s bedroom and caught him holding georgie’s yellow jacket, sobbing violently into it. the boy wrapped his arms around his best friend and started rambling: “i’m sorry big bill i’m sorry georgie got hurt and i’m sorry we couldn’t help him, i’m so-” and bill would look up to see richie tearing up as well and he’d stare at the other boy, unable to say anything so he’d pull richie closer and richie would rub bill’s back and bill would run his hands through richie’s hair. now whenever they notice the other person upset, they’ll do what they know to calm them down.

although, constantly to popular belief, stan was a very affectionate man in private. if he knew the person was clean (and he often got richie to shower at his house how could the boy live in such filth), he’d be wrapped around them like a vine. he’d put on movies and pull richie up into his chest and they’d silently watch the movie, richie’s ear resting against his chest and stan’s hands in his hair. it was the softer part of their relationship, the rarity of silence and contentment. no jokes, no threats, nothing. just the love between them. 

and eddie would use it to his advantage, the sly brat. whenever richie would talk or make a mum joke, he’d reach up and tug on the boy’s hair and hiss “beep beep, rich.” if he pulled a little too hard, richie would flush a deep red but the memo was caught. to be honest, eddie loved a silent richie in the middle of the night, especially if he snuck through eddie’s window and eddie knew his mother was still awake. they’d lay in the dead of the night, eddie murmuring softly into the cloth of richie’s t-shirt and richie humming softly as he turn his head into eddie’s hand

they love their trashmouth but sometimes, seeing him quiet and content (and not feeling like he’s talking to just fill silence) is blissful.

losers club halloween headcannons

all of the losers except stan are super excited for halloween

they go all out and like decorate everywhere and carve pumpkins and all that stuff

and on halloween they all have great, meticulously planned costumes (except stan)

they’ve planned for weeks to go trick or treating that night and then have a sleepover at richie’s house and watch horror movies all night

so when they all get to school the losers all see stan and are frankly a little disappointed because he looks completely normal

richie and bill in particular keep bothering stan about why he’s not wearing a costume or anything

and then at lunch stan just pulls up his pant leg and shows them the pumpkin socks he’s wearing and is like “boo, motherfuckers, now shut up and let me eat my lunch”

richie is delighted and ruffles stan’s hair ofc

and they all go trick or treating after school

richie gives eddie all of his candy and then steals candy from everyone else because he still wanted some

and then they all watch scary movies and cuddle up together on the couch

eddie falls asleep on richie’s shoulder after the first two or three movies

bev laughs at bill when he jumps at all the scares and ben watches her in admiration

stan and mike’s fingers lace together not long after the first movie starts & every time stan jumps mike squeezes his hand in reassurance

eventually they all fall asleep together & it’s all perfect and wonderful and there’s candy everywhere

I got this idea and I think it’s just so cute that Richie brags so much about his position in their relationship, but in reality he does anything Eddie says, and YEAH, THERE YA GO!

-so I think Richie is this cocky bastard, walking around and talking about how great of a lover he is, how he is the one in control in his and Eddie’s relationship

-all in a good nature, just joking or trying to seem manlier between his friends

-and most of the days Eddie lets him, he just sits next to him and smiles mischievously

-he knows that it’s not the truth, Richie does too, but sure, Eddie is going to let him seem like the one in control if he wants it so bad

-he is not a bad person and this is quite funny, especially when Bev, the one Eddie tells everything about his relationship to, grins knowingly and laughs at some statements  

-but from time to time Eddie feels the need to show everyone who really has the control  

-he isn’t rude about it, or does it out of spite, no, he just sometimes feels fed up with Richie’s cockiness and wants to put him in his place

-he does it in a clever way, so Richie doesn’t always catch on

-”Rich, could you please buy me some fries? I’m starving”

-”Babe, it’s so cold, can you give me your jacket?”

-”Richie I’m tired, let’s go homeee!”

-”Honey, can you don’t drink tonight? I would love that.”

-and Richie’s reaction is always “Sure, babe, whatever you need” or just nodding with the widest smile on his face, leaning down to kiss him

-he does everything Eddie asks him to, he just loves the boy so much that he can’t deny him anything

-they once all went to McDonald’s and were standing in line

-and it was abnormally long and Eddie was so bored  

-all he had to say was “Rich, I’m so tired, can you order for me?”, take his hand into his little ones and look at him with those doe eyes

-”Sure babe, go sit down”

-and it’s just so hilarious ‘cause Eddie doesn’t even have to be next to him

-a short text is enough really

-The Losers actually kept count of how many times Richie ditched their activities because Eddie asked him to come over or was “home alone”

-it was 26 times

-but what’s the funniest is, Richie doesn’t even know he does it

-it’s just so normal for him to look after Eddie and do anything in his power to make him feel good and safe, he just doesn’t notice the boy sometimes takes advantage of it

-but it’s all okay, because even if he does notice it, he doesn’t mention it

-he knows that Eddie lets him brag about their relationship, even though he could ruin his image in a second

-so yeah, Richie is just whipped and completely under Eddie’s thumb

“–Okay, well, that’s bullshit. Richie. You definitely like someone!” Mike argued quickly. They were both on Mike’s bottom bunk, cards between them and a game of War paused. And another one about to break out.

“When’s the last time I’ve ever kept my mouth shut about anything I like.” Richie said, snapping the ends of his cards. Mike narrowed his eyes; the logic was too clear for Richie. “Not an excuse. A self-aware observation.”

“No. You are just trying to cover it up.” Mike said. He had noticed how quiet Richie had been about his summer plans; he couldn’t give himself away if he didn’t speak at all. Mike was often an idiot, but not when it came to his brother.

“I notice you haven’t answered the question.” Richie tisked, placing his next card down. King.

“Yeah, Wi- well,” Mike suddenly stuttered, reaching for his card. “Uhhhh,” He flipped over a two. The small spades letting Richie gain confidence he didn’t need.

“The cards have spoken.” Richie chuckled. He took the cards slowly, fingers dragging the cards across the quilt before tucking it in his deck. “Too bad it’s not two queens, huh?”
