a while ago I made a post showing off a system I came up with for writing English in Cyrillic, while still preserving the wacky features of English orthography we all know and love. I never actually bothered formally defining how it’s supposed to work though beyond just a few key details, so let’s do that now!

dreamed that kindergarten nap was called sleep class and everybody went to sleep including the teacher. if you were awake it would get a little bit foggy outside and grey and cloudy, and these guys would start approaching the classroom from behind the tree line (forgive my shitty phone drawing)

and they were at least a story tall, some of them were taller, you could see their legs over the trees. they would approach very slowly. this one (the one i drew) had a name for some reason, his name is kick.

before i was totally awake my brain conjured a meme of a bunch of these guys approaching from the treeline and a child watching from the window with the caption “when you the only one awake in sleep class 😂😳😏”

its like multiple box-whisker graphs without the whiskers because that's exactly what it is.

but that's not the bad part. its more like the fact that this is a presentation, people are sitting throughout the entire room at different angles, which makes it kinda confusing to know where one box ends exactly. like from my POV, the top 25 universities (top-most box irl) was somewhere between 1400 and 1450, and I'd really like to know.

the easiest solution is to just add vertical lines

like this or something. much easier to know where boxes end. (again, still not accurate, i wish i had a pic of the actual graph)

this reminds me of one time in AP Language

last quarter in my AP Lang class, my teacher asked "ok class, let's separate these sentences into its subject and main verb." (it was a two part activity, we were supposed to find the subjects of each sentence in a paragraph and then find a pattern. we never got to the "find the pattern" part that day)

it was getting increasingly obvious that most of my class forgot what a verb was. he asked people to point out a verb in a sentence, and some people said adjectives, nouns, or adverbs instead.

so he spent the entire hour reteaching the parts of speech lol.

an improv show that begins with asking the audience for one word prompts but as it progresses it becomes increasingly clear that they’re just testing the audience members on which parts of speech they know

Debut: Kirby’s Return to Dream Land

On today this creature critter cFriday we are gathered to celebrate Walf! Walf is definitely one of the most critters I can think of. It is a really wonderful design! Flippers like a sea turtle, antennae like a beetle, and a round shell like both! Not too turtley, not too beetley, Perfectly Walf.

Walf looked quite different in its original appearance! More turtley, I think? Or maybe even mammaly. I don’t like it as much. I wonder if I would like it more if it was bald.

Nope! I don’t like it more bald.

All that being said, I don’t DISlike the original Walf design at all, it is quite cute! But in Planet Robobot, only the second ever appearance of Walf, they felt the need to completely redesign it. And this design, I LOVE! I like the colors more, the face is cuter, it feels like a more consistent design overall, good job, Walf!

There may not be any merchandise of Walf (yet), but take solace in that it does exist in-universe, thanks to the figures in Forgotten Land! This is also how its name was confirmed! For over ten years, we were just going by the file names that called it Walf. We could only imagine what they might ever officially call it in-game! We imagined they would call it “Walf”. Hey, this is only a two-star figure? Surely there must be a mistake!

Much better! Much more realistic!

Interestingly for something with flippers, Walf spends its aquatic time on TOP of the surface of the water! Also interesting is that while it has antennae and moves on the water surface, it is not based on a water strider. If anything, it makes me think of a whirligig beetle! Walf can do more than swim, though. So much more.
