:🌱🍊Tips for CottageCore folks still in school!🍊🌱:
Now I’m no expert or professional advice giver. But, as someone who is also still in school and is very enthralled in the community of CottageCore WarmCore etc etc, I’ve come up with some helpful tips to help you express and try to live your best Cottage life when you still live at home, or are attending school!
🍊 1. Thrift shopping!:
As someone who can’t quite afford the typical lovely and homey appliances/attire thrifting is a wonderful option to find either home made or vintage items/clothing for every day use. Maybe finding a quaint little tea set, or maybe even a beautiful quilted blanket, or a bread maker to make that loaf you’ve wanted to for so long! It may take some searching, but thrift stores ca be your best friend when trying to find the material items you’d like to make yourself feel a bit more like youre living your cottage life!
🌱 2. Local Bakery!:
If you’re like me and can’t necessarily bake your own goods, for whatever reason it may be, see if where ever you live has a local bakery or something of the kind. I have one in my own town and find that in comparison, the prices, while realitively the same as a local grocery store, the quality and love put into it is so much more! Most times you can even order specialized breads or loafs for your pleasure, and the satisfaction of having freshly made bread (albeit you did not make it yourself) can add to your cottage-y experience! In addition to that, grab some freshly made pastries too to go with your coffee or tea later in the day or week, many bakeries (if not all) all have some sweets of some kind, and even cakes if you’re feeling up to it. Highly recommend this if you’re really in search of a good way to spice things up!
🍊 3. Cleaning up!:
Ah yes, cleaning. While I know many of us are busy, or simply can not find the energy to take part in a hearty clean up session, I find that even just clearing off your counters, or straightening up your room can be a fine tuned way to making you feel more like your homey and warm cottage-ly inclined self. Cleaning and having a rather cleanly routine can make you feel as if you are helping your home/room become a greater and more personal space, adding your special little touches here and there. Getting some fresh flowers or even just doing up those dishes you forgot to last night. Clearing off your night stand or poperly making your bed. You can always find little ways to make your life while in school just a tad more homey through simple chore-ly tasks.
🌱 4. Open some windows and curtains!:
While the Winter season still lingers around some of us, others are embracing Spring. In this time I highly recommend opening up your windows or curtains, turning on your favourite music, and listen to the nature or sounds outside your home/room. Opening up your space after the long and cold winter, or any gloomy period can be both a relieving and refreshing experience, letting the new light embrace you, and make you feel surrounded and more at peace. Homey if you will. Now some people may not like this and that is totally okay! Do what makes you comfortable, but if you feel the need, open them up. <3
🍊 5. Relax and Read/Drink something Warm (or refreshing)!:
As simple as this may seem, and a simple way to end off my tips, I thought I’d combine my two favourite tips and things I do on a more regular basis. Reading is one of those things that (I find) can make one super relaxed and feel impressed and warm. Nesting down into your favourite sweater or your favourite blanket, grab a book you like and begin to read. It doesn’t matter how long it will take you, dont worry, just imagine and let yourself go. Pairing this with a nice warm drink, such as coffee or tea of your choice, can truly make you feel a if you are right next to a fire place, cozy in your big chair, with nothing but you and your small cottage, listening to your favourite old tunes as time slowly goes by. I truly, and highly recommend this to anyone not feeling that warm and tingly homey feeling.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thats all!!! I know there arent many tips here but I hope you find them useful! I’m happy I could share these with you and I hope you can use these in your venture to achieve a more warm and cottage-y life!
Please feel free to add any tips and tricks you have to the list! I’m sure there are many more of us out there :))
Have a lovely day <3
I read a lot of master posts but rarely do they work for me, So if you are sick/having a bad week/relapsing
Wash your face/hands: this will make you feel so much better trust me
Shave your armpits (if that’s a thing you do) for me it makes me feel fresher and cleaner
If you’re in pain TAKE A TYLENOL. Don’t just be in pain. You are allowed to be comfortable
Clean something: this makes me feel like I am in control of something in my life
Watch a comedy tv show (my go-to’s are Impractical Jokers, The Office, Parks and Rec)
Eat something sweet: I’m tired of posts that say ‘eat some veggies/ something whole and healthy’ that’s great don’t get me wrong but chocolate works on the same part in your brain as opiates and they also release dopamine which is the happy chemical so it’s a really good thing for cravings or [believe it or not] sadness. -just don’t go crazy and let that be the only thing you eat all day
Message someone-a friend, your parents, or even a stranger. Just have a conversation with a human.
Sleep. Get a full night rest. It’s the best thing you need right now
feeling confident, might post a pic of me ✌
I heard this tip from a professor I had over the summer and I find it super helpful whenever I have something big that’s stressing me out.
1. Place your hand directly in front of your eyes. Imagine that in your hand is everything that is stressing you out at the moment, whether it be tests, relationships, personal issues, etc
2. Breath in for a count of 4, and as you do so, move your hand farther and farther away from your eyes in a straight line until it’s as far from you as possible,
3. Hold for a count of 4. Take note of where your hand is now, how little space it takes up in your field of vision. Focus on other things in the room; the color of the walls, the shape of the furniture, the sounds going on outside.
4. Breath out for a count of 4. Your hand is everything that is stressing you out, and everything else you can see is the rest of your life. The things that are stressing you out right now can seem so immediate and overwhelming, but remember that it only makes up a small fraction of your life, and there are so many things left to look forward to.
5. Repeat as needed. Remember, you’ve got everything well in hand.
some reminders for you:
drink some water now.
take a deep breath.
relax your shoulders. stop clenching your jaw. sit up straight.
smile a little. just a little bit. relax your face.
respond to any emails you need to answer.
respond to those text messages and dms that you want/need to answer.
text or call that person you’re thinking of talking to. you know who i’m talking about. at least say hi, they probably want to talk to you too.
you aren’t annoying. you’re funny and sweet and your smile lights up a room. your presence is wanted and you are loved and needed.
take another deep breath. take another sip of water. get up and stretch or walk around a bit.
i’m here to stab u all wif my love and support again.
if you haven’t been told this today,
- i’m proud of you
- i want you to keep trying
