Might do a drawing of Odysseus’ eyes during quick thought. I think it would be fun if his eyes temporarily turned blue with little constellations in them like Athena’s quick thought realm.
“Men don’t cry”
WRONG
Odysseus cried every morning of his 7 year stay with Calypso. He sobbed on he beach for 2555 days in a row. Do you know how much of a commitment that is?
And do you know how MANLY Odysseus is? The man who was a soldier for ten years, killing for his family. The man who fought giants. The man with muscles so impressive the author had to describe his ‘boxers build’ and ‘rippling thighs’ constantly? The man who easily strung a bow with a 300 pound draw weight, then shot it perfectly? And then proceeded to easily slaughter 100+ grown men?
Never say men don’t cry. Be like Odysseus.
Hey so anyone remember that cut song “Need Her to Be Mine”? Yeah I just realized that the way young Odysseus calls for Athena and says “to be mine” is the same as when Telemachus addresses Athena and says “fine” in “We’ll be Fine”
I’m Unwell :)
Our tactful, guileful man, ladies and gents
tbh my favourite quality about Odysseus towards the end of the Odyssey is that he'll swear to be honest and immediately spit out two pages of nothing but lies about who he is and where he comes from and whose son he is and how he's suffered terribly to get where he is now
compare that to him giving polyphemus his full name, his postal address, his social security number, and his birth certificate in earlier chapters
that's what we call ✨personal growth✨
Despite my lack of ability in drawing men, I’ve decided to bite the bullet and actually try to sketch out Odysseus.
The issue with this is that It sounds INFINITELY easier than it actually is.
Minding my own business re-listening to Warrior of the Mind, and I noticed some fun details
Firstly: The “danger is close” motif plays when Odysseus is telling Athena to show herself.
Secondly: Once it’s been confirmed that our main man Ody has gaslit Athena, his motif plays after he does his lil laugh (because he just outwitted Athena). Additionally, his motif continues into the “You are Athena!” Portion of WOTM.
I might be late once again but I think it’s neat. Jorge loves his recurring melodies and motifs and I do not blame him :)
Update from my previous post. The livestream for tonight has been cancelled. But whatever you guys do, do not blame Jorge or anyone else for this mess. Blame the WiFi and the storms at Ithaca.
Am I going crazy or does thw beginning of Odysseus’ part in 600 strike sound a bit like the beginning of Athena’s verse in Little Wolf?
Like… “I don’t think you seem to get it” sounds similar to “I’ve no respect for bullies”…
Who knows I guess.
Do you mates think Odysseus or Telemachus will use the “close your eyes and spare yourself the view” line with Penelope before or after the uuuuh suitor slaughter?
So…how am I supposed to calm down and sleep after THAT???????
Good theory👍
So
A friend mentioned to me that Poseidon's trumpets mimic Ares' instrument in 600 strike and that Ares might have blessed Ody in the moment (Shout-out @dysphanic-redshift) and asked me why I thought that might be
In the myths, as far as I remember, Ctimene is a Warrior of Ares, while Ody is Athena's Warrior. Since Ody was so close to being reunited with Ctimene, knowing Ares, there was no way Ares was going to let Poseidon interrupt the reunion of his Warrior and his sister's warrior, hence the blessing
Greek mythos brainrot is so bad that Odysseus king of Ithaka can grow mushrooms using my neurons
