TASBot Plays Brain Age

TASBot Plays Brain Age

Awesome Games Done Quick is known for its highly skilled human players, but TASBot’s tool-assisted runs stole the show today. In Brain Age, TASBot draws pictures and text that are somehow interpreted as numbers. It’s like Ryuto’s famous Brain Age TAS, but with a live audience?

(The run starts at 15:22.)

Yoshino Aoki – Battle Field

30-Day Video Game Music Challenge (Super Hard Mode) Day 10: RPG battle music From Mega Man Battle Network 6 (GBA, 2005)

I’m actually playing Battle Network 1 right now. I passed up Battle Network when it was new because it wasn’t the new Mega Man platformer I wanted. Today, its unique battle system really stands out.

Zeta Gundam montage

UPDATE: Voltan’s video is gone, so I’ve replaced it with another montage from Destroy All Podcasts that seems to include the same clips.

Uh oh, I got too distracted by PAX East, Tetris victories, and Sayonara Umihara Kawase that I almost forgot I have a blog and a good video to post to it. Zeta Gundam is a show about giant fighting robots in space, but people sure hit each other at lot. YouTube user Voltan made a supercut of all the satisfying slaps, punches, and kicks that turn whiny pilots into brave fighters.

Sure, let’s run Kajet’s version too. Why not? 2007 YouTube, go!

PiNe – Trick or Treat!

I haven’t done one of these artist posts in over a year. Let’s fix that with PiNe. PiNe delivers vivid scenes and cool character designs in a handy RSS feed.

When I saw this on today's Pixivision Halloween post, I knew today I'd have to post this too. Google Translate translates the Japanese title to "I do not have to make sweets!"

I Need More Music

UPDATE: Here's the same playlist on Google Play Music.

Hey, you! I need some music recommendations to get me through long days at work. In the comments, please give me an album or a playlist that I’m not already listening to and that I can find either on Spotify or free on the Internet somewhere. I’m an openminded metalhead and I like just about any music if it’s hard enough. As for my own recommendations, here’s a metal playlist I made about a year ago.

Neon FM

Tokyo Attack came to Matsuricon again and introduced me to  Neon FM, a button-drumming music game with some neat features. If you fail a song, the game drops the difficulty level a little and lets you keep playing. The arcade, iOS, and Android versions all work about the same and even support online multiplayer matches between them. I want to try that sometime but the closest arcade with Neon FM is in the developer’s home town of Baltimore.

I thought Orange Lounge Radio had an interview with the developer, but the wiki had no mention of it. Maybe I've got it mixed up with the Kyle Ward interview in episode 596 where he talks about ReRave's arcade and mobile versions. I'm confused.

Flyboard Air Test 1

Now this is a hoverboard! Zapata Racing makes those water jetpacks for your feet, and now they’re cranking up the power and making a Flyboard that flies through open air. The Flyboard Air can apparently fly for 10 minutes at up to 93 mph and 10,000 feet. If even half of this is real, I want one last year.

Yumi's Odd Odyssey/Sayonara Umihara Kawase

The best grappling hook in video games has finally made it to the West! In the hands of an expert, the title character can climb all over everything and fling herself across the screen while stressing the elastic fishing line to its breaking point. Beginners can stick to the main route, but everyone else gives it the finger and looks for shortcuts, backpacks, and hidden exits. This series is very speedrun-friendly and has always let you record replays of your fastest stage times.

It you’re looking for a nice, challenging 2D platformer, pick it up on the North American 3DS eShop for $30. That sounds like a lot, but it’s the lowest price I’ve ever seen a game in this series and you won’t be disappointed. Most of the players on the English version’s leaderboard hang out in this NeoGAF thread which I’d love to post in but NeoGAF has a weeks-long moderation queue for new members. UPDATE: I have now posted there.

Mieko Ishikawa – Trading Village of Redmont

30-Day Video Game Music Challenge (Super Hard Mode) Day 22: Town/village music From Ys III (PC-88/PC-98, 1989)

Yeah, My Life in Gaming picked this song too, but I’m not changing it now. Those nerds have lots of good picks, so check them out too.

TMNT Tournament Fighters

Remember when Konami made video games? Their best fighting game was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Tournament Fighters on the SNES. Last night, we played a tournament in this at our local fight night, and I did my best to explain it during the first few matchups.
