The timing was terrible but Salem had no choice but to walk up to the closest person nearby and that happened to be Elva. A girl he was crushing on hard but she wanted nothing to do with him. “ ‘M sorry, please just pretend to talk to me for a few minutes. I’ll leave as soon as I can,” he spoke in a low and hurried tone, glancing behind them every so often.

Elva raised an eyebrow as Salem came towards her. Once upon a time they were friends, but…he became too chaotic. She missed him, of course, but she missed everyone. He was more in danger close to her than he was on his own, “What have you done?” She demanded, still walking wit him, “Could you look any more suspicious?”
“Yeah, actually, I can,” he retorted, fixing his eyes onto the path in front of them. He knew someone was following him and more than likely it had to due with a stunt he pulled in a bar last week. “And I didn’t do anything that someone else didn’t deserve.” It actually pained Salem to be dragging her into of his messes, knowing how much she wanted to avoid trouble.
After his performance, Salem was feeling very content with himself. He had stopped drinking several hours before the show, of course, he had taken something else to help him manage his habit but it was mild compared to what he usually did. The former ghost needed his mind to be somewhat clear so he could reach back to an old talent that he knew had to be from when he was truly alive. Playing the violin felt like riding a bike and he enjoyed the applause and congratulations he received after words for his hidden talent. “ I don’t try to hide it, it’s just not something I’ve done in awhile, ” he explained to someone that had approached him after he left the stage and put his violin away behind the bar.

Begging. He was begging her to fix him. Was he really that stupid? Were all Auradonians like that? He didn’t even know her name and he was going to let her into his mind. “Alright, sit down. I’m going to put a barrier up in your mind. Technically you’ll still hear and see the dead, but your brain won’t communicate that information to your conscious mind. We do it all the time naturally anyway,” She waited for him to get comfortable and put two fingers on each side of his temples. She let out a deep breath and breached his mind.
A barrier. That was what he had been trying to achieve with the drinking and drugs this whole time but it never lasted. It only became harder to keep it up and it was creating a more permanent barrier between him and everyone he cared about. “Okay,” he agreed softly, relaxing and letting out a soft sigh as he tried to clear his head. It felt odd, wrong almost, to have let someone else willingly into his head but he tried not to resist, tried to let go so she could do whatever she needed to with her magic.
It had been years since Salem heard that particular nickname, it was odd how Wyatt had been the only one to ever make the association. “Wyatt,” he breathed out the male’s name, removing his mask and moving forward to get a better look at him despite being unable to see his face completely. "It’s --- a lot’s happened but you’re here,” he started with a small smile, not really knowing what to say but he wanted to say something to the other.

Since the isle was opened and everyone left for Auradon, most people who had been close once, we now rarely seen, but with the ball so full, he assumed he would see some familiar people. He noticed the posture of one man immediately - you didn’t forget the way someone you once called best friend looked like. Making his way over to him, he smiled softly “Well Well, kitty kat.” he teased the other over his name since it was so synomenous with a cat.
"How'd you get this?" salem & adelaine!
The male shrugged, taking another drag from his cigarette. “Could’ve been a fall, an accidentally broken bottle --- wait, no. It had to be the time I totally failed at this party trick I was trying to do.”

“Wait your dad is that one dude? I forget his name but I think I know who you’re talking about.” Of course Irey knew who it was thanks to the many stories from Lock, Shock, and Barrel but if she can confirm who it is, the girl knew this would bring in some brownie points where Oogie the next time they talked.
“The Pumpkin King! You can’t know Halloweentown without knowing him,” he exclaimed. His dad was the most famous person in Halloweentown, if she knew the town she had to know of Jack Skellington. It never occurred to him that he should be cautious of the girl that called herself Oogie’s daughter.

selfish tendencies come out to play — she’ll think of herself alone , as she’s done a thousand times , “ ugh , you’re a TOTAL life saver , ” wide smile , yet , today … it’s weighing differently . ( perhaps it’s all FINALLY catching up with her ?? ) “ well , that’s no fun — ! i love free drinks , but … ” a pause , change of heart . “ we should do something fun for … both of us . — ‘s there a reason you can’t have some , anyway ? ” overstepping boundaries … it’s just something she’s good at .
the former ghost boy nodded, confident he knew his drinks well enough to pick out something the other would like. he watches as the bartender prepares them, finding it interesting how drinks are made since he often learned how to make them on his own. “ hm? ” his gaze shifts back to her. “ uh, a promise. i’m having enough fun --- ” he paused when the shots were finally placed in front of them. “ anyways, try it! ”

“Don’t be so coy,” Maleficent chuckled, “I heard they were engaged.” She finally got the information she needed, and it was better than she could possibly imagine. Something with his senses, and not something small either, something she could fix, or give the appearance of fixing. But the spell could do more too, he could become a literal pawn in her hands. It gave her access to everyone, the other Auradonians, Halloweentown….everything! And, if she could harness his power…well the Horned King would be very jealous if she raised an army of the dead without him. “Is that all?” She said, eyebrow raised, “Well that’s not too hard to fix.”
“That’s... even if that’s true there’s gotta be a reason. Elva’s not an idiot.“ She was the smartest person that he knew which may not say much these days. Most of his “friends” were only around him for the parties. A brow quirked when she made light of his ability but hope, true hope, he felt it for the first time in a long time. “So, you can fix me? Please, do it. I’ll do anything, I swear on my grave.” If she could really do this then he would be free. He could give up his addictions and be the person he used to be.
