“Yeah I’ve been coming into town more recently to visit you guys.” He smiles. “What have you been up to?”
“ Uh -- hanging out with friends.” None that Jack would recognize except Elva. “Work.” He shrugged. “Nothing here as fun as back home.”

“ you don’t reckon we should change that ? ” head will tilt slightly to the right , fingers moving to tuck golden locks behind her ear . gaze will fall from his face , to the ground . she’s not one for getting excited about festival activities — but there were ways around that , certainly . “ i’m not so sure this kind of thing is my … style , but . being drunk would help ! ”
“ yeah, we --- wait, i can’t.” he stopped himself, internally patting himself on the back for resisting the temptation of alcohol. “ alright, well, i can’t get drunk but i can help you get drunk. i used to be pretty good at it, after all. ” he chuckled, waving down the bartender. “two -- no three white gummy bear shots.” he turned back to the princess. “these taste so good and totally go with spring vibe.”

Irey scooped up another piece of ice cream as she listened to him talk. “That sounds pretty cool.” Only she would think dead and horrifying would look better than how everything looked here. “Wow so this must be not as cool compare to that then?” She asked.
“There’s no comparison. It’s --- different worlds,” he answered shrugging as he focused again on his treat. It was his distraction for now because what he really wanted was a bottle of any alcohol he could get his hands on. “It’s like comparing Halloween and Easter,” he added, glancing over at his companion.
before coming to auradon, salem had at least some idea of what he would look like. as a ghost, he looked relatively human minus being see through and having a mangled face from what he assumed had been a gruesome passing. his mother said it made him beautifully horrifying and her opinion was all that mattered. however, seeing his brother looking completely human was a little unsettling even in his fogged up mind. the younger had definitely been indulging himself that morning. ❝ you could --- but it doesn’t benefit you, ❞ he mused with a chuckle. salem would be devastated if their parent’s found out but until it happened, he was still all smiles. ❝ mom and dad would just make me go back home... ❞ and that was not something he deserved. becoming a ghost again would take the easy way out of the hole he had dug for himself.
seeing his brother during their time in auradon was like looking at a stranger. never once had the skellington family been human ( at least, not in the years that cesar had been alive ). he hated it, being human. there was nothing that made him unique, or better yet, horrifying in any way. here he as simply normal, just like everyone else. it was utterly despicable. ❝ you’re pretty damn lucky mom and dad aren’t around. they’d be pissed if they could see how fucked up you are right now. ❞ the elder skellington points out, tossing his cigarette to the ground and crushing it under his doc martens. ❝ or, you know, i could always just tell them. ❞ he says slyly, speaking almost like a maniacal twelve year - old. even as he grew older, he turned to blackmail to get whatever he wanted.
"How'd you get this?" salem & adelaine!
The male shrugged, taking another drag from his cigarette. “Could’ve been a fall, an accidentally broken bottle --- wait, no. It had to be the time I totally failed at this party trick I was trying to do.”

Irey herself had her own set of pancakes with the exception hers were covered in whipped cream and chocolate sauce that it looked so sweet that it could hurt anyone’s teeth. “As someone who grew up on the Isle, the food is literally one of my favorite things about this place. Like I don’t think I would have ever seen pancakes like these back at home.” Even in her old life before Oogie, the food wasn’t the greatest thing. “I’m a firm believer that anything food wise can be made. I’m sure when you go back you can convince someone to make spider pancakes or even waffles.”
“What’s Isle food like? Nothing good?” Good was a vague term for the former ghoul but he expected that even the Isle was a terrible place by Halloweentown standards. “Yeah... I won’t be back home for awhile.” He skewered a piece of strawberry, popping it into his mouth. “But I wondered if they’d make it here. I don’t see many spiders around though. Wonder if they even have any.” Salem was only half serious but a lot of creatures, insects included, were dying early in the harsh weather.

“wow -- hey, no i’m alright.” the cut on his hand said otherwise. shards from broken beer bottles and drunk idiots like salem did not mix well. “okay, okay. maybe not totally alright.” taking another look at his hand, he wondered if he would need to get it stitched again. he missed being a ghost, human bodies were so fragile but as drunk as he was, he felt no pain. the only thing that reminded him that he should be concerned was the look he was getting from the guy in front of him.
::please stop breaking my heart::
Elva covered her mouth at the confession, not realizing that was how he felt and how she must have hurt him. “Oh…Salem…I…” but what could she say? She had never liked him that way, and probably never would. Just like Charlie she saw him more as a brother than a potential…anything else. Even acknowledging him “as a man” as he put it seemed strange. “It’s not that I don’t care about you…but I like…Harry.” The guy everyone was talking about her kissing the other day, the guy she’d never really brought up because she thought they needed to work on Salem’s stuff. “But even without him. You have to know, it was never like that for me.” It was cold, but so was she, and she couldn’t let Salem hope for something she could never give him.
Did some part of the former ghost think that maybe once he confessed, she would see him in a new light? A small, fragile part did, but he was still prepared for rejection. He was not prepared to hear that she had feelings for another guy and why did that make it so much worse? “Yeah, I know.” He chuckled dryly, shaking his head. It shouldn’t have surprised him after all the rumors he heard but he barely paid attention to anything when he was on a high. “I know you’ll never... yeah.” He finished lamely, unable to keep the fake smile on his face. All he wanted to do now was drink himself stupid but if he did that and Elva found out, she would be mad at him and he was supposed to be trying to do better.
