once upon a time a friend and I wanted to make a rouglike game together. We did not have an official name for it so we gave it a code name. the fc in fcdesert is for "fredrik connor". connor is the artist and i am doing everything else. so far i have made some of the game and some of the website.
menu background:
connor made this, he also said that it was painful drawing every pixel (this is 500x500, so that means that he did now know that he could just resize the pixels at that time).
player:
this is when the player has the most powerful weapon equiped, i edited this sprite to give it different weapons:
as you can see there is a clear difference between his art and my art.
gameplay:
im thinking that it should take place in an magical pyramid where the rooms change, it will make it so that every time you enter a room it is always different.
also as you can see there is a white square following the player, i am currently making the enemy AI (i am making a different AI for each type of monster) and forgot to take it out before recording.
here are all of the player sprites so far:
that is it for this devlog, i'll keep you guys updated for any progress.
I'm working on a small car game for a project, and learning Godot along the way. Here's my first attempt at steering left.
I got driving forward and back working. Lemme try steering left…
yeah it's still broken. but DIFFERENTLY broken!
I finally got rotation (mostly) working. I'm just going to rotate right and drive forward.
oh. Hmm. Forward isn't relative to the car's rotation. That's a minor problem.
I was fixing the issue with the cars rotation not affecting the direction of the force, and accidentally made the velocity compound. So if you lightly tap the gas, you go to fucking plaid and then explode.
So I got it working, but the way it works isn't very… car. You can turn and you'll still keep going the way you were before you turned. So it's a little like driving a car on an ice lake?
I may have to give up and switch to using Godot's built in vehicle class.
last update, i said that it would take until the end of this month to finish playtesting the prototype and decide on if its a good idea.
you can probably guess what i'm going to say, playtesting might take a little longer than expected. it should take another month to finish.
The final cutscene of the game:
after this the credits screen will show with an option to return to the main menu.
i made a quick thing to use for testing music:
i added an effect for when the orb of freezing is used (ignore the fact that i don't have an item equipped)
i make games. check out http://freeve4hserver.ddns.net
