ooh, sounds fun all around!

for the last one I can just imagine someone walking into a room and saying "surprise, I'm back" and everyone just staring in shock. I am also unsure as to what a flock of crows refer to, I just hope they don't talk

This is my first post on here, so I thought I should tell you about my book! I’m on mobile at the moment, so I’ll just tell you what it includes:

Potions

Found family

Slow burn romance

Friends to lovers

Mystical creatures from mythology all around the world

A flock of crows

Harm of prejudice

Vast world building

An entire revolution

Sarcasm. Lots of sarcasm.

Cultural representation that grows as the series prolongs

Plot twist

“We all thought you were dead but here you are” tropes

Hello to you too! I'm already really interested in the books you have!

Hello!

My name is Ian and I’m a writer so I figured it was about time I joined the writeblr community.

A little about me…

I’m 24 and use he/they pronouns.

I have a degree in Music Industry that I am currently not using. I also have a certificate in Writing and Publishing which I am sort of using.

I’ve been writing stories for as long as I can remember, but only started pursuing it as a career about three years ago. Since then I have self-published two books that I am very proud of.

In addition to writing I have interests in music, film & television, and linguistics. I also love to read so this will probably be a little bit of a bookblr too.

A little about my books…

As I said, I have two books currently available in paperback and ebook. They’re called It Could Always Be Worse and Will It Ever Get Better? They are both part of a series called the Woodview Stories, which I plan to continue. I’m currently working on the next book.

It Could Always Be Worse

After a traumatic experience in her hometown of Miami, Elena Flores moves away to live with the father she’s never met. It’s not easy starting a new school in the middle of October, so when her half sister invites her to a party, she thinks “what’s the worst that could happen?” Elena must learn to navigate her new life in the wealthy suburbs of Long Island and try to build relationships, but that’s hard to do when she doesn’t know who to trust and she can’t let go of her anger and sadness.

Order here.

Will It Ever Get Better?

Jo Reilly has dealt with a lot of big changes lately. She’s sharing a room with a surprise half-sister, her parents are always fighting, her best friends aren’t speaking to her, and she’s falling for someone totally unexpected. All she wants is to be normal, but what does that even mean? Jo must learn to shed her insecurities, resentments, and preconceived notions, in order to be true to herself and find the people who really care about her.

Order here.

Woodview Stories

Woodview Stories is a Young Adult contemporary fiction book series. It tells the coming of age tales of a diverse group of teens living in the affluent Long Island neighborhood of Woodview. The overarching story progresses through the books chronologically with each installment switching narrator to focus on a different person's point of view. It all begins with Elena, whose sudden move to Woodview from Miami sets off a chain of events that affects the lives of everyone around her.

A little about my other writing…

The majority of what I write in YA, like the books I have already written. I also tend to stick to contemporary, but sometimes drift to other genres.

I also dabble in screenwriting. I’m currently working on a teleplay as a side project. I’ll probably post a lot about that in addition to my main project.

Anyway…

I don’t know if I’ve put the right stuff in the intro post, but here it is anyway.

That’s all for now. Bye!

Time system

i want to put the time system that I wrote for my world because I really like it.

The humans of the world center their dating system around the day that Atron Ojan won the war against the elves, uniting most of humanity with him into the 'Ojalana Empire'. They put the founding of the Ojalana Empire as the first day of year zero.

They mostly break down the years into 4 seasons based on the periodic rising and falling of the Xultan (ecks-ul-tan)

Seasons are not equal in time, the stable levels last longer than the periods of rising and falling

(Agorophillic) marked when the Xultan river starts to rise from its lowest level to its highest. It is characterized by colder temperatures and strong winds that could bring storms. Lasts for 3 months this is also when the Mer have their annual migration from the Cristlyn ocean to the Honist ocean

(Agorosill) marked when the river stabilizes at it’s high level, lasts for 6 months, cold dry weather marks this time

(Deciphillic) marked by the river starting to fall from its highest point to its lowest point. Very rainy with windy days and warm weather. Lasts for 3 months this is when the mer migrate back to the Cristlyn ocean

(Decisill) low stability/ marked by the river stabilizing at its low points. Warm, slightly humid weather with light rains. Lasts for 6 months.

1 month is 64 days.

There are 18 months in one calendar year:

Javer

Kumil

Copelit

delicately cutting this recipe out of the screen in order to save it for a time when I'm not broke

As Promised! A Recipe for Kipsha (Sort of)

Hello everyone! A few days ago I said that, as a way to celebrate reaching 100 followers that I would make one of the dishes from the setting of my WIP. And I did that! Kind of. You see it turns out that Sainsbury's or at least Google, lied to me, and so I was unable to find barely which was a necessary component of this recipe. Even worse when I returned home I found that the only wheat flour that I had was self-rising. And so, I did not make Kipsha (recipe here) which is eaten in the western and central parts of Kishetal, rather I made Kipisa which is eaten on eastern border of Kishetal and Makur in cities like Kutar and Nabi (shown below).

As Promised! A Recipe For Kipsha (Sort Of)

The primary difference between Kipsha and Kipisa is the grain used. Kipisa is made with rye while Kipsha is made with barley. In addition, Kipisa is often served with butter. Butter as a culinary ingredient is almost entirely limited to the eastern plains, where it preferred to or eaten alongside olive oil. Saramuk Ukishiya, meaning "Butter Eater" (Saramuk coming from the Lakuri word for butter, Shayram) is a common derrogatory term used to refer to those people living in the region shown above. The recipe is below the cut!

Kipisa

Kipsha or Kipisa or Kipcha is a kind of cake or biscuit commonly eaten by the wealthy and poor alike. It can vary wildly from soft and spongy to harder and more cracker like. It is a popular form of street food and can be served as savory or sweet. In savory applications honey is typically forgone and olive oil may be replaced with various varieties of animal fat. All varieties contain some amount of barley or more rarely, rye, however examples meant for nobility may contain up to 70 or even 90%.

The name Kipsha is a reference to the sesame and/or poppy seeds used in and sprinkled over the top. Kip being the Kishic word for seed or grain. Though it may also refer to an infant, thus part of the cake's association with fertility.

This recipe is for Sweet Kipisa, as it is enjoyed in the city of Kutar. A similar varient is eaten just across the mountains in Labisa, though here they make use of barley rather rye. It is this barley variety, Kipsha, which is my MC, Narul's favorite dish.

This particular variety of Kipsia is cracker-like, with a slightly chewy interior.

Ingredients

Note: For those ingredients which are not available on earth, approximate substitutes are provided.

As Promised! A Recipe For Kipsha (Sort Of)

The Cakes

(Note that Kishetal has no distinct set of measurements nor are recipes recorded. Recipes are typically passed down orally and differ greatly between regions and even families. Adjust ingredients to one's own liking)

1 ¾ cups Rye Flour

1 ¼ Unbleached Wheat Flour

½ cup Water

1 Tbsp Olive Oil or Untoasted Sesame Oil

2 Tbsp Sweet White Wine (Riesling or Muscat are suggested)

3 Tbsp Kafa (This Kishic yogurt drink can be substituted with equal parts plain greek yogurt and whole milk)

2 Tbsp Honey

1 Tbsp Red Wine Vinegar

2 ½ Tsp Untoasted White Sesame Seeds

½ Tsp Sinrian Cinnamon (Substitute Cassia Cinnamon)

¼ Tsp Ground Black Pepper

Toppings

 1. This are meant to reflect Narul’s Preferred Toppings, though with the addition of more typically eastern additions

1-2 Dried figs chopped (Fresh figs may be substituted)

3 Tbsp Honey, warmed

2 Tbsp Regula Juice (Substitute 1:1 parts orange and lemon juice)

Ground black pepper to taste

Sesame Seeds to taste

Chibalan Salt to taste (Substitute: Flake Salt)

Torn mint leaves

Goat Butter, melted (Cow or sheep is also acceptable)

2. Other Toppings

Unsalted soft cheese such as ricotta

Yogurt

Dates

Crushed nuts (typically walnuts or pistachios)

Chopped Cherries or other fruits

Preparation

1. Combine all dry ingredients in a large bowl.

2. In a different bowl combine all liquid ingredients and whisk thoroughly.

3. Combine wet and dry ingredients, knead using your hands to form a firm ball, add water and flour as needed to achieve this.

As Promised! A Recipe For Kipsha (Sort Of)

4. Cover the dough with a damp towel and allow it to rest at room temperature for a minimum of 1 hour and a maximum of 4.

5. Preheat oven to 400 F or 200 C (fan 195 C).

6. Liberally dust a counter or large cutting board with rye flour. Dust a rolling pin or similar instrument with flour.

7. Place the rested dough onto the floured surface and roll out to approximately 1/4 inch

8. Using a biscuit cutter or knife, cut dough into cakes, these can be any number of shapes, delicately score the surface.

As Promised! A Recipe For Kipsha (Sort Of)

9. Place cakes on a covered cookie sheet making sure that they do not touch.

10. Bake for 10-15 minutes until golden or lightly browned.

As Promised! A Recipe For Kipsha (Sort Of)

11. Remove and immeditately apply melted butter, honey, and regalu juice to surface. Allow to sit and cool for at least 5 minutes (Kipisa is not eaten hot. The more time is allowed for the absorption of the toppings, the better)

12. Once cool, add additional toppings. It is not unusual at this point to add additional butter and honey, nor is it unheard to dip the cake in the regalu juice and butter while eating it.

As Promised! A Recipe For Kipsha (Sort Of)

13. Enjoy!

Ah! I don't know how I missed this, but here's the first line from 'One Dragon, Half a Dragon'

"It was cold in the vault; that was the first thing he felt upon waking up."

I have a lot of WIPs in the same world and it was kinda hard to pick, but I like this one.

I honestly don't know who else to tag here

First Lines Tag

Rules: Post the first few lines from one of your WIPs; this could be first sentences of the whole story, a chapter of your choice, or just from the most recent writing session.

Tagged by @joswriting—thank you!

Okay I'm finally going to stop calling it 'Mystery WIP'; here's the first line from my mermaid story Ichorfall, set in the same universe as Echoes of the Etan and The House of Akreios!:

Mmm, mapmaking

Welp, I feel dumb

I just realized that I have been completely messing up the tag system. I posted my writeblr introduction and somehow didn't think to tag writeblr or to put writing in the first five tags. And everything else is a jumble.

I suppose what I'm saying is if you would be interested in a fantasy story inspired by the ancient near east, with monsters, giants, magic, pirates, kings, battles, bratty children, sapphic romamce, pirate throuple romance, and trauma, check out my blog, and my WIP Testaments of the Green Sea.

In the meantime here are some maps, starting with the world of Kobani, then the region of the Green Sea, and last the lands of Kishetal. Because, because why not.

Deeply enjoying this concept and collage!

Now my writing usually doesn’t get much interaction on here but I would like to put it somewhere for feedback so I might start posting little snippets of my beloved WIP “House Of Dexterios”

The synopsis is basically: The chaotic lives of a very affectionate queer friend group as part of a cult: under the reign of a sadistic God trapped in a cats body: the plot is majorly pushed forward by Katie the heroic P.I. of the group: everything comes to a head when a overzealous, fish out of water journalist appears and butts heads with Eyon the anti-hero protagonist (one of the protagonists anyway): it’s part supernatural crime drama and part occult sitcom: it fallows the monster of the week concept and each chapter is very long as every case has its own chapter along with character hijinks: it’s character driven and fallows four main characters as well as a growing cast of side characters: theres a large emotional drive focused on internal, and magical struggles.

Now My Writing Usually Doesn’t Get Much Interaction On Here But I Would Like To Put It Somewhere For

Anyways stay tuned~

Ooh, I's love to play as a villainous character

....hi

....hi

Irredeamable is my latest project, a semi-linear action-adventure game, where you control this little bundle of anger and angst in her quest to recover her lost powers and bring forth the end of the world. The game has a heavy emphasis on combat, with a bit of platforming, and a whole lot of boss fights. There is also some mysterious lore to be uncovered by those willing to brave the world's deepest, darkest depths. My main goal with this account is to spread awareness of the game as i work on it. I'll post threads about the game content, characters, and world, with occasional distractions such as my unhinged game design thoughts and ideas. Don`t hesitate to share thoughts and engage, i love nothing more than to talk about writing and game design.

Honestly same, but this idea is as golden as menaleas' treasure

what if. spartans who don't like how smooth their skin is. who when out of their suits are disturbed by how smooth their skin is. the texture of the bodysuit that holds the gel layer is textured and that feels better.

all the injuries. all the hits they've taken. the pain they've endured. yet no scars to show for it. it feels wrong. their skin is far too smooth.

in a way, yes, their armor is their uniform. a second skin. but it's also what protects them - not entirely physically - but also mentally. when their body isn't as mangled as it seems to be, the ridges and grooves and texture of their armor and the bodysuit makes their bodies seem a little more accurate to how they feel they should be.

i hate whenever people say "autism and adhd are basically the same disorder" because that isn't even remotely true. autism believes a strong defense is the best offense, and focuses on keeping plays connected in order to steadily earn points, while adhd is characterized by unpredictable high risk combination attacks that prioritize scoring

This concept reads like a crack-fic tacken seriously and I love it for that!

You know that scene in John Wick 2 where he (John Wick) gets hit by a car and then he immediately fights the assassin driving that car, Cassian, and then they battle for like sixty minutes on the streets of Rome, shooting over cars, knife fighting, falling down a whole flight of stairs, and then grappling and grabbing each other on the cobblestones, yelling and grunting like a bunch of dudes having good old fashioned fun, and then finally they end up smashing right through a window and coincidentally landing in the assassin hotel "safe area" where they're not allowed to fight anymore...

and then they go and have a drink together?

I thought they should've fucked.

So I wrote a book about assassins who do that sort of thing regularly. Check it out here.

But I added what the scene was lacking, besides the fucking part...

Demons.

You Know That Scene In John Wick 2 Where He (John Wick) Gets Hit By A Car And Then He Immediately Fights
You Know That Scene In John Wick 2 Where He (John Wick) Gets Hit By A Car And Then He Immediately Fights

The scene for anyone who doesn't remember or doesn't know it.

This book has:

an improbable amount of badass, LGBT, demon summoning assassins (the absolute best of the best being transgender).

a scott pilgrim style plot, involving one pansexual demon summoner having to fight all 7 of his exes for the sake of his newest contract.

a nonbinary weather controlling demon, trapped on earth. also, one of the exes.

a blind smartass with a nasty mouth and nastier eye-related powers.

a city on the brink of annihilation, trapped by forces unseen and unheard and unknowable.

the most bombastic and ridiculous magic system ever constructed by man.

and maybe...just maybe...an angsty gay time loop romance (the best narrative trope) but you didn't hear that from me.

It's dark, it's humorous, it's romantic, it's riddled with absolutely insane fight scenes, and most importantly...

It's unabashedly queer and unrealistic and silly and yearn-y.

And I'd really appreciate if you'd help an indie author out, with a sale or a reblog! Agents and publishers told me that it was too queer for regular audiences...and that the concept was just not very compelling.

They might be right, but it still had to exist. I still had to make it, anyway. You know. You have to make the art that you want to see in the world.

Anyway.

Sorry for the long post...you can check out my website for future releases.

And last thing: Character commission of the MC, our lovably slutty pansexual assassin Sebastián Monterey:

You Know That Scene In John Wick 2 Where He (John Wick) Gets Hit By A Car And Then He Immediately Fights

And cheers! Sorry for the long post. Have a good night.

so I cracked open my document for worldbuilding/writing for the first time in forever today

and I realized that I can worldbuild to infinity, but I can't actually write the story to save my life. So, in an attempt to get me motivated to write the thing, here's some information on the dominant religion in my world.

Worships a pantheon of gods and spirits. The main difference between the two is that gods can be replaced, but spirits cannot.

Spirits are the embodiments of abstract concepts, while gods are more like people with supreme power over a concrete object.

Sometimes humans mash together similar gods and spirits, as seen with how Krunin and Brin got mistaken for the same person, but some are distinct enough, like the fearfully unnamed spirit of death and Rylai

Society sees the daytime sky as more in tune with the earth, even having a myth about how the daytime sky protects the earth from the vast expanse of the universe. Hence why Fyrian’s title is “God of the earthly sky” The night sky is seen as more tied to the universe at large, since you can see all of the stars at night.

The story goes that both Greavi, Astrapulli, and Fyrian worked together to create humanity, with Astrapulli going on to take the roll of being the one to guide humanity on the road to advancements, Fyrian being Humanity’s protector and Greavi being the great provider.

Astrapulli and Fyrian are often worshiped together in a duality or balance capacity, especially in the leviathan kingdom. It’s actually half the reason the Leviathan Kingdom’s capital of Crenan was established.

The gods are worshiped in daily life at their specific shrines. People will go there and pray and leave offerings towards a god.

Not everyone regularly worships every god, but each god and goddess has their own holidays that are upheld

It might seem weird that there hasn’t been much mythical drift across time and various disruptive historical events, however the explanation of this is two-fold. First, the gods are actually real, and have made several appearances throughout history and prehistory and in every country, thus leaving humanity to make a more concrete mythical lore. Secondly, Yvine Ojan spent a lot of time codifying the myths from all across the continent, creating a relatively solid canon for the gods, and it’s only been slightly over a hundred years since she did that, thus not giving the myths much time to drift

Gods, and some spirits

Empyria-Goddess of music

Patron goddess of the L’norinette family

Constantly at war with Greavi for reasons forgotten by mortals

An'Tuska- Spirit of precipitation

Has a rivalry with Fyrian

Iapert-goddess of the sea

Merudi- God of wealth

There Is a week-long festival in the Ojalana empire that ends in a massive public ball hosted by the palace. This event, Called Deviti week attracts many tourists

Patron of the Ojalana Empire

Works closely with the spirits of plenty and deficit

Myrcid- goddess of justice and fair rule

Patron Goddess of the Ojalana Empire

Astrapulli- God of the universal sky

His left eye is the moon- which is also inhabited by Herun, the spirit of moonlight

Co-creator of humanity

Fyrian- God of the earthly sky

His right eye is the sun- inhabited by the spirit of sunlight, Degras

Co-creator of humanity

Greavi- Goddess of the natural world

Co-creator of humanity

Krunin- god of the eternal flame

Commonly depicted as a war god, representing the undying loyalty and determination of soldiers, as well as the destruction of war.  In actuality he is a god of immortality and fire as his epithet would suggest, war is actually controlled by the spirit brin-who is close friends with Krunin.

Pynis (pie-nis)- Goddess of rocks and earth

Rylai (ree-ly)- god of living spirits

Has control over the souls of all living and dead creatures (including plants)

The spirit of death

Goes unnamed out of fear that writing the spirit’s name will call it to them.

It incites a soul’s journey to the beyond-place, which hosts the true kingdom of Rylai

Just loving the adorableness of Ninma and Narul.

OC Art

Hello everybody! Life has been hectic and I haven't been able to post here in quite some time. However, I have just finished the second edit of my WIP, Testaments of the Green Sea. I'm currently waiting for my editor (that is my partner) to finish their own read over of the manuscript.

Way back before everything went haywire, I commisioned a piece from @faeporcelain. It turned out amazing but I somehow failed to ever actually post it here for y'all to see it!

This is their rendition of my two MC's Narul and Ninma. Please go check out some more of their things, I really enjoy their style.

OC Art

I'm not there yet but when I am satisfied with my edits, I would love to find some beta readers. And I would love discussing more about my story. Few things make me as happy as answering random story and worldbuilding questions. I used to post here relatively often, I might start doing that again if everything else in life permits it.
