#2 is an if/maybe, not a fact.

Hunger kills more people each year than AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria combined.

If female farmers had the same access to resources as their male counterparts, the number of the world’s hungry could be reduced by 150 million people.

870 million people currently suffer from hunger. 98 percent of these people live in developing countries, with the largest proportion living in Asia and the Pacific.

Another 24 million children could be hungry by the year 2050 due to climate change and irregular weather patterns.

According to the World Food Programme, hunger is the “single biggest solvable problem” facing the world today. It costs just $0.25 per day to provide a child with the nutrients he or she needs to live.

Walking For Fun And Enjoyment

There are a few books out there one can read to pass the time. One of the better walking books is “Over the Hill. Grandpa hikes the Pacific Crest Trail.” It is a fun book on walking that takes you away from the hubby of everyday life in the city and puts you in hiking in the Pacific Crest Trail. It does this with the ease of an everyday hiker in the wilderness. It can be bought for $0.99 on…

U.aS. Election Spending Using his $330 million, I’ll bet Donald Trump sent an SOS to Russia in his seemingly unreasonable rants to the public, ‘asking to be saved’ from Hillary Clinton s “$1.2 billion”, spent on the campaign. Or maybe it was just his support of wife from Slovenia.

CIA REPORTS IN SEPTEBER THAT RUSSIAN HACKING IS INTERFERING IN US ELECTIONS

In September, in a Congressional meet meant to establish bipartisan support in order to stand with the international community against Russian government interference in US elections, as reported by the CIA, President Obama’s had his idea squashed by Mitch McConnell, a seemingly unAmerican act, threatening partisan action. In a check on the government, the media had publicized this with varying results.

The Week quoted: ”President Bush calls for superiority over CH.I.K,s”

This is the a real quote, ”The country has found a new ‘Sputnik Moment’ ”. This was when the Cold War was in full swing. It was America vs the Soviet Union (that fell in 1994 from internal conflict) because they put up a satellite and we thought nukes were next. It seemed likely. Not so now, Nuclear Weapons are forbidden in Space, thank you presidents Reagan and Gorbachev. The shock, actual shock, of the US failling behind led to an all out effort to regain footing in ”the Space Race” against China (CH), India (I), and South Korea (K,s), ”CH.I.K,s”.

Actually America has 22 of the world’s top 30 universities and graduates more engineers per capita than India or China, and we will have resentment from third world countries like the Arabs or African nations that may be left behind.

Thankfully, someone thought of an answer, ”CoursEra”. Does ''CoursEra'' sound like ''Crimea'' that’s in the news lately? Is this a Cool War over future billions of third world nations? Interested? Contact “CoursEra”. CoursEra is a free university-scale online study ‘center’. You may get Princeton, Harvard, Yale or Stanford, P.H.Y.S.

Want to take a Ride?

The American River bike trail, ARBT, runs with no bumps or potholes, nearly, from downtown Sacramento Discovery Park to old Folsom, both are Pony Express stops. It's 35 miles of ''green traveling'' along a well maintained asphalt pathway following the American and Sacramento rivers. Some spots are even being fenced off and replanted. . Drinking water and portable outhouses are provided, no worries for tired riders or bike tires. Very scenic, lots of trees, plants, bushes, Grey  or Ground Squirrels, the occasional pet, and of course, bicycle riders. There are many access roads from Folsom, Sacramento and places in between. Many will drive from Folsom, park the car, ride or raft to Sacramento, driving or bicycling back home. I rode one way in 3 hours, very scenic. You could be careful by having an extra tire, but that's just in case. . From the trees and such, it's a quiet ride mostly, but the trail crosses under several more than 2 lane roads, it's ''God's bicycle country''. In any case, you will see only bicyclists or joggers of both sexes only. Many days will see empty trails; however, it's a good sign in seeing others, knowing your bicycling efforts are not alone. . There is at least one sign, thank you Department of Public Works and County Parks, with 100's of Golden Poppies, California's State Flower, this 2014 Spring. . So we gravel roads run parallel for maintenance trucks that travel the route and keep all up to shape. It's well travelled, but well maintained. A riding rules and large map are available from county parks.

Russian Election Investigation

What happened to the Russian Election Investigation? I first heard about it when bold assertations of definite incursions into our Democratic Election process was apparent. Then, a determined investigation. Last, they threw out Nunes, who had ties that were in appropriate. Now, submerged again. So, what’s happening? No news. Are they quietly disbanding? If our elections were voided by a foreign power, which would be a first, we are in a questionable state of governance. Who really tipped the scales? How was this done? Can we insure it doesn’t happen again? Look what happened. Our chosen president has decided to begin a war with another country, already in it’s own Civil War. Regardless of how badly they acted, he can only do that by an action of Congress. Which he had not done. In doing this, Russia, who has sided with Syria, has said he has broken international law by provoking this war. Russia has many states under it and following it. America used to have other countries following it, what now? With a new administration, the world governments must choose, and knows something about it. Since we only have one world, we must walk a tightrope, too. Admittedly, I am an American, and must not provoke the powers that be. But how badly has this gone? By starting instigation into another’s war, he, and America, has been label a criminal. Which is not what the US has been. We were once called ‘The World's Policeman’. And from that, we were discouraged, too. When will we ever get it right? Right now in America, our police seem to be under fire. Body cameras and videos of police harassment of suspects and innocent victims are abundant. It seems the police can’t get it right. Or maybe we can’t see they are doing their best. The truth is, in the last number of years, crime has fallen. So things are really okay. But they want to do better. Well some things go only so far. As to “The World’s Policeman”, we can’t expect other cultures to be like US, who are quite different, a 'free’ country. David Schaedler. 4/11/17
