This Ted Talk has been the most helpful in my own “foxhole” pit recently and I hope this can reach out and help anyone else! A special thank you to my two true friends while I was side tracked by an abusive friend who only used me and I allowed that friendship to continue for far too long. It infuriates me to see how toxic this one friendship was that I lost connection with my closest and truest friends and others. Also for others who dealt with an alcoholic, watch minute 16. It hit me harder than any article and personal research I’ve done yet.
On March 4 the first quarter moon passes between Earth and the star Aldebaran, temporarily blocking our view of the star. This is called an occultation.
The occultation begins and concludes at different times, depending on where you are when you view it.
The event should be easy to see from most of the U.S., Mexico, most of Central America, the Western Caribbean and Bermuda.
Observers along a narrow path from Vancouver, British Columbia, to Hartford, Connecticut, will see the moon “graze” the star. The star will disappear and reappear repeatedly as hills and valleys on the moon alternately obscure and reveal it.
As seen from Earth, both Mercury and Venus have phases like our moon. That’s because they circle the sun inside Earth’s orbit.
Planets that orbit between Earth and the sun are known as inner or inferior planets.
Inferior planets can never be at “opposition,” which is when the planet and the sun are on opposite sides of Earth.
But inferior planets can be at “conjunction,” which is when a planet, the sun and Earth are all in a straight line.
Conjunction can happen once when the planet is on the opposite side of the sun from Earth and again when it’s on the same side of the sun as Earth.
When a planet is on the opposite side of the sun from Earth, we say it is at “superior conjunction.” As the planet moves out from behind the sun and gets closer to Earth, we see less and less of the lit side. We see phases, similar to our moon’s phases.
Mercury is at superior conjunction on March 6.
A few weeks later, the planet emerges from behind the sun and we can once again observe it. By the end of March we’ll see a last-quarter Mercury.
On April 20 Mercury reaches “inferior conjunction.”
Brilliant Venus is also racing toward its own inferior conjunction on March 25. Watch its crescent get thinner and thinner as the planet’s size appears larger and larger, because it is getting closer to Earth.
Finally, look for Jupiter to rise in the East. It will be visible all month long from late evening until dawn.

It literally doesn’t matter what the intention of abuser was, it isn’t relevant, what should be looked at is consequences the victim has to carry, the psychological damage they have to live with, the emotional pain, the fear, the self consciousness, the disorders, the trauma, look at how much they lost, how much they missed out on, how much they suffered because of what happened to them, how ashamed and anxious and isolated they’ve been, everything they didn’t get to experience and enjoy because of the trauma, everything that’s missing from their life because of what was done to them, and then let’s look at the benefits the abuser had from destroying the victim, the control and authority they established, how they used the fear and the pain to control the victim, how much satisfaction they got from feeling superior and powerful and self-righteous, and that’s all you have to know, a person destroyed another for gain, what other intentions do you fucking need, nobody does this without meaning to.
i’m truly sorry that after all these years you never learned how to love yourself in such a way so as to appreciate the absolute beauty and hard-earned success and growth of others without taking it as a personal attack upon yourself

And no matter how long of a history you have with a person, you deserve to let go of any friendship that hurts you and forces you to prove your worth.”

Earlier this May, the Associated Press reported that National Institutes of Health researchers tested AIDS drugs on hundreds of foster children in the late 1980s and ‘90s. In many instances, the drugs were given without independent advocates who monitor the safety of these children. Ed Gordon explores the controversy with two AIDS experts: Dr. Jonathan Fishbein of the National Institutes of Health and Baylor College of Medicine’s Dr. Mark Kline.
yo lets have a shout out to foster care kids. here’s to all the kids who:
- get moved from home to home. - never had a connection with their family(/families). - doubt if their foster family love them. - have to explain why your last name is different than your family’s. - explain to countless people over and over in their lifetime about fostercare. - have to hear “oh, I’m so sorry” once you do explain your situation. (people who think it’s typically a bad thing to be removed from a home) - have abandonment issues. - feel as though they have to choose one family or the other. - get asked “sooo… why did you get removed?” / “did your parents not want you?” - never get a say in what happens to them/their future. You’re loved, you’re important, and you’re damn strong.
“Pro-lifers” should be forced into adopting one of the many foster children already in need of a home. This puts them into the same position as the women they try to force into pregnancy/birth.
I always get asked if I’m pro-choice. And I say yes. Then I get asked if I would ever have an abortion and again I say yes. And people are usually shocked by how open I am about it. But I am a children’s advocate. I’ve seen kids whose parents have had them too young. I’ve seen kids who are in foster care and children’s homes because of neglect and abuse. I’ve seen teen moms struggle and single dad’s. If I am not financially stable, mentally stable, or emotionally stable. I should not and I will not have children. I believe in the morning after pill, condoms, pulling out, and birth control. I can tell you when I am ovulating and can get pregnant and when I am not.
I am responsible. I am prepared. And if I were to get pregnant I am pro-choice.
My aunt put her child up for adoption. Her stance was basically to let her have a chance at a happy life even though she herself couldn't give it to her. I don't think there's anything wrong with that at all.
I mean good for her, but you do realize that we have an issue of not enough kids being adopted. So they end up in the foster care system.

These two spacecraft are called STEREO, short for Solar and Terrestrial Relations Observatory. Launched on Oct. 25, 2006, and originally slated for a two-year mission, both spacecraft sent back data for nearly eight years, and STEREO-A still sends information and images from its point of view on the far side of the sun.
STEREO watches the sun from two completely new perspectives. It also provides information invaluable for understanding the sun and its impact on Earth, other worlds, and space itself – collectively known as space weather. On Earth, space weather can trigger things like the aurora and, in extreme cases, put a strain on power systems or damage high-flying satellites.
Because the rest of our sun-watching satellites orbit near our home planet, STEREO’s twin perspectives far from Earth give us a unique opportunity to look at solar events from all sides and understand them in three dimensions.
We use data from STEREO and other missions to understand the space environment throughout the solar system. This helps operators for missions in deep space prepare for the sudden bursts of particles and magnetic field that could pose a danger to their spacecraft.
STEREO has also helped us understand other objects in our solar system – like comets. Watching how a comet’s tail moves gives us clues about the constant stream of particles that flows out from the sun, called the solar wind.
STEREO is an essential piece of our heliophysics fleet, which includes 17 other missions. Together, these spacecraft shed new light on the sun and its interaction with space, Earth, and other worlds throughout the solar system.

Wouldn’t it be neat to see a period of the universe’s history that we’ve never seen before? That’s exactly what the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) will be able to do…plus more!
Specifically, Webb will see the first objects that formed as the universe cooled down after the Big Bang. We don’t know exactly when the universe made the first stars and galaxies – or how for that matter. That is what we are building Webb to help answer.
1. The James Webb Space Telescope is the world’s largest and next premier space observatory. It will extend the discoveries of the Hubble Space telescope and observe the birthplaces of stars, galaxies, planets and life over billions of years.
2. It is named after James Webb, NASA’s second administrator and champion of our science.
3. At 3 stories high and the size of a tennis court, it will be 100 times more powerful than Hubble!
4. It is so big that it has to fold origami-style to fit in the rocket, which is only 5.4 meters wide…And then it will unfurl, segment by segment, once in space.
5. The telescope will observe infrared light with unprecedented sensitivity. It will see the first galaxies born after the Big Bang over 13.5 billion years ago.
6. Webb’s infrared cameras are so sensitive they must be shielded from light from the sun, Earth, and moon. The 5-layer sunshield is like having sunblock of SPF 1 million.
7. Webb will orbit the sun 1 million miles from Earth, where the telescope will operate at temperatures below -390 F (-235 C).
8. Webb’s mirrors are coated with a super thin layer of gold only about 1000 atoms thick to optimize their reflectivity in the infrared.
9. Webb will launch from French Guiana in 2018. It is launched near the equator because the faster spin of Earth there gives the rocket an extra push.
10. Webb is an international mission, with contributions from the European Space Agency and Canadian Space Agency. Once operational, scientists from all over the world will be able to use Webb to explore our solar system, planets outside our solar system, stars and galaxies.

These spectacular wave-like clouds are the result of the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability. When two layers of air move past one another at different velocities, an unstable shear layer forms at their interface. Disturbances in this shear layer grow exponentially, creating these short-lived overturning waves that quickly turn turbulent. The strong resemblance of these clouds to breaking ocean waves is no coincidence–the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability occurring between the wind and water is what generates many ocean waves. -You may hate your life right now but always remember you have at least one good moment a day
You won’t have to go through life worrying about every single calorie and every single meal.
You can enjoy dinner with your family without panicking about it.
You can live life without it revolving around food.
You won’t have to lie to the people you care about anymore.
You can actually have fun on your birthday.
Fighting with people you care about over whether or not you’ve eaten is boring and painful.
Because there is more to life than food.
Because losing friends is not fun.
You can enjoy social occasions without worrying about food.
You won’t feel so constantly exhausted and drained all the time.
Thinking and dreaming about and being consumed by food is no way to live.
Feeling dizzy and cold and tired keeps you from living a happy, fulfilling life.
Recovery will give you the chance to LIVE and to be alive, rather than just existing.
Because you deserve to have happy thoughts in your head, instead of numbers.
Your recovery can inspire and aid the recovery of others. Instead of passing on disordered behavior, you can pass on health and support and encouragement.
Your skin will improve, as will your mental clarity. Eating right (and enough) can greatly help symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Because you don’t deserve to cry yourself to sleep anymore.
You deserve to be able to genuinely smile again.
You deserve to be able to go outside and enjoy your day without worrying about what you’re wearing and whether or not you look okay.
You won’t have to waste money on food to binge on anymore.
Your feet and legs will stop falling asleep and going numb when you sit down.
Your hair will stop falling out.
Your skin will finally be able to heal itself. You deserve to be glowing.
It’s nice to not feel like death anymore.
It’s nice to not smell like vomit anymore.
It’s nice to be able to go out and actually enjoy yourself again.
Your general health will improve and you’ll be less susceptible to colds and viruses.
You won’t have to feel guilty about breaking your promises.
You won’t have to lie to everyone around you.
You’ll be able to go out and dance at parties/bars/clubs without feeling weak and dizzy.
If you’re fortunate enough to still have healthy teeth, recovery will prevent them from rotting.
You are worth so much more than just a number on a scale.
It’s nice to not be constantly cold and nauseous all the time.
Because crying in your room is never a good way to spend a Friday night.
You can finally live without guilt. Guilt that you ate when you didn’t think you deserved to eat. Guilt that you haven’t eaten and you’re letting loved ones down. Guilt that you binged. Guilt that you purged. Guilt that deep down you’ve forgotten how to love yourself.
Your bones won’t be brittle and easy to break anymore.
You’ll be able to sleep at night without hunger pains keeping you awake.
Be confident again.
So you don’t feel like a complete & utter hypocrite when trying to help someone that is in the same position as you.
So you can enjoy “family time” & not worry about eating “bad food”
So that you don’t spit up after eating because your esophagus is so fucked up from purging.
So you don’t miss out on life.
Because it’s nice waking up and thinking about what art you can create, what places you can explore, what books you can read, what people you can meet, what songs you can sing, what sports you can play, instead of thinking about what you’re going to eat and not eat that day.
Watching Netflix is a lot more fun than watching “thinspiration” videos.
It’s nice to wake up in the morning with energy, instead of waking up tired from not eating, or sick from binging.
So that you can get up in the morning and see clearly, instead of seeing spots or having black vision as you try to sit up.
You deserve to love yourself again.
You deserve to accept love from those around you again.
You deserve to be able to go shopping without having panic attacks and breakdowns in the changing room.
You can eat your favorite foods without guilt and anxiety.
You’ll have enough energy to do the things you enjoy.
You can be active, and run or play sports for the fun of it, not for weight loss.
You can have a life again.
You’ll be able to sleep at night.
Aren’t you tired of feeling worthless and guilty?
You’ll be able to go out without thinking that everyone is staring at you.
Go into a grocery store feeling safe.
You won’t have to be scared of going to the doctor anymore.
You won’t have to excuse yourself from work or social events to purge.
Recover so you don’t have to see the scared, heartbroken look on your mother’s face when she hears you purging.
Recover so you can go on a date and feel happy and not worry.
Recover so that you can share your story and help others recover.
You won’t have to waste any more money on laxatives.
Your eating disorder won’t be feeding your anxiety and depression anymore.
ALL of us deserve a better life than ED hell.
You’ll be able to have children someday if you want to.
So you can make spontaneous plans to go out, and not have to check or worry if they’ll “fit in” with the eating disorder.
So you can spend time having interesting conversations with people, without your mind wandering off to do calorie counts.
You don’t have to feel guilty when people buy you food, because you won’t have to waste it anymore.
So you can live a happy, free, fulfilled life.
So you can feel unafraid for the first time in a long time.
So you can have and actually sustain healthy relationships with people (family, friends, significant other) without the eating disorder causing fights and pushing them away.
You can walk around town with a friend or go to events without worrying about passing out.
You don’t have to lie awake at night worrying about the damage you’re doing to yourself.
When you give your body the fuel it needs, your physical AND mental health will improve. Your self-confidence will improve.
You can get your natural skin tone back, and not look gray and sickly pale all the time.
Your blood pressure and heart rate will go back to normal.
You’ll be able to enjoy hot baths and showers again.
You won’t have so much gas or bloating or stomach pains anymore. Your intestinal and digestive health will slowly heal itself.
You can stop punishing yourself for eating.
You can sit up for more than 10 minutes without your stomach hurting.
You won’t have to debate for an hour before eating an apple.
Your room won’t smell like vomit and moldy food.
So you don’t get up in the middle of the night feeling as though you need to do 300 sit-ups before you can sleep and then spend all day feeling tired, and ill.
You won’t trigger others anymore.
So you dont end up in hospital at 3am because your bowels are bleeding due to your ED
You won’t be constantly dehydrated anymore.
When you look back on your life, you’ll have happy memories too, not just empty memories of anorexia / bulimia
You won’t have constant headaches anymore.
You won’t have to isolate yourself anymore.
Because life can, and should be, so much more.
