Info dump, share if you want or rephrase, etc: Up until today, I’ve been hearing suggestions that people who have changed/are changing their names and gender markers apply for as many official documents as they can esp if they’re in a friendly state. As of the 22nd, it appears that has changed with respect to passport applications, where the Colorado Name Change project is now reporting nationwide officials have been instructed to deny passports and confiscate supporting documents (I.e corrected birth certificates, SSID, etc). Which is to say DO NOT SEND IN YOUR PASSPORT OR OTHER CORRECTED DOCUMENTS FOR A PASSPORT UPDATE REQUEST in the US. However, currently issued documents are not currently expected to be retroactively withdrawn so if you have a corrected passport HANG ONTO IT.

🇵🇸 “How can I help Palestine? I’m a minor.” GREAT QUESTION! 🍉

1. Wear Palestine colours! Red, white and green. Don’t have those colours? That’s okay! Paint your nails that colour, dye your hair, wear pins, makeup, anything! (Just make sure you don’t purchase anything.)

2. DONT PURCHASE ANYTHING! Eat food at home, if your parents offer you food from places like McDonald’s or Starbucks say you’d rather eat at home.

3. So you can’t skip school? That’s okay. Make all your school projects about Palestine or with Palestine colours. Got an art project? Great! Draw Palestine colours.

4. If you have a good/great relationship with your family/siblings tell them about Palestine. Don’t? That’s okay, tell your friends if you can.

5. Place stickers and write free Palestine on things.

6. If you’re religious pray for Palestine.

7. Learn Arabic or engage with Arabic culture! This is a great way to show support.

8. Donate if you have money/can. I know some kids maybe could, some find dealing with money stressful or are poor. It’s okay if you can’t.

9. Join riots if you can! I recommend you go with a friend or an adult.

10. Post on social media about Palestine if you can.

However there’s still ways to riot even as a kid.

Don’t give in. Our protests matter as much as adult’s do.

Please don’t put anything too political on your back patches— especially about your own marginalized experiences.

This has been a long standing rule in punk communities, passed down for generations. People do get jumped and experience violence as a result of this. You can’t see who is behind you, you can’t tell if they’re far right, and you can’t prepare yourself for sudden violence from behind.

So many people are new to the scene, introduced via social media, and don’t know the weight of walking with something on your back (literally and metaphorically) that immediately outs you as marginalized. If you’re able to defend yourself, or out with friends who can watch your back, by all means go for it and wear whatever you want on your back patches but if you walk alone at all ever, please be safe.

Also this is why punks wear spikes and studs on our shoulders especially. Makes it harder for someone to grab you and works as self defense (but also never wear spikes at a small show or if you plan to mosh— people can get hurt!).
