TRANS WOMEN: HERE'S SOME SHIT YOUR DOCTOR WONT TELL YOU ABOUT HRT

1. Progesterone: not for everyone, but for many people it may increase sex drive and WILL make your boobs bigger. Also effects mood in ways that many find positive (but some find negative). Most doctors won’t prescribe this to you unless you ask. Most trans girls I know swear by it.

2. Injectible estrogen: is more effective than pill or patch form. Get on it if you can bear needles bc you will see more effects more quickly.

3. Estradiol Cypionate: There is currently a shortage of injectible estradiol valerate. There is no shortage of estradiol cypionate. Functionally they do the same shit.

4. Bicalutamide: This is an anti-androgen that has almost none of the side-effects of spironolactone or finasteride. The girls I know who are on it are evangelical about it.

Hey Everyone! It’s Been A While Since I Made A Masterpost, And I Recently Found Some Good Health-related

hey everyone! it’s been a while since i made a masterpost, and i recently found some good health-related apps on the play store that i thought to consolidate into a post.

all these apps are available for both ios and android users! i’ve also grouped similar apps together.

fyi: these apps are not intended to replace your therapist/counselor – they only act as an aid. the apps listed here are those that seemed credible enough and had good ratings on the play store. some may help you and some might not. since i don’t have depression or panic attacks, i can’t speak for the efficacy of some of the apps here.

For stress, depression, anxiety, or panic attacks:

Rootd: exercises to help with anxiety and panic attacks, as well as lessons understand anxiety. it also includes emergency contact if you need help and a personal stats page.

Self-help Anxiety Management (SAM): exercises to help you manage your anxiety. you can also build your ‘anxiety tookit’ and chat with other SAM users.

PanicShield: for those who have panic attacks. it has a breathing tool to calm you down, information about panic attacks, and two techniques to train your mind to have fewer panic attacks (based on two types of therapy).

MoodSpace: short, interactive mood workouts that may help treat depression.

InnerHour: a self-help app for stress, anxiety or depression. it has small daily tasks, helps you deal with distressing situations, helps control your stressful thinking patterns, and has a relief box.

Moodpath: an interactive two-week depression and anxiety screening program that tracks your emotional and physical wellbeing and generates a personalized mental health assessment that you can discuss with therapists.

Calm Harm: tasks to help you resist or manage the urge to self-harm.

To generally improve your life:

Youper: conversations with a bot to improve your mood and emotional health. it also has mindfulness and meditation exercises, a mood tracker, journal and symptoms tracker.

Wysa: similar to Youper, Wysa is a chatbot who reacts to the emotions you express to help with anxiety, stress, low mood, anger or sleep issues.

Primed Mind: a life coach to help you reach your personal goals and improve yourself. it can help you build habits, calm down, fall asleep quickly, and study effectively.

Headspace: meditation and mindfulness exercises

Just Rain: a soothing audiovisual rain simulator where you can control the degree of rain sounds.

An Open Letter to Tumblr about the Adult Content Ban and How it is Hurting Your Users:

Recently, Tumblr was removed from the Apple app store due to an incident involving child pornography. This incident is incredibly unfortunate, but it doesn’t stand alone. Tumblr was also removed from the app store due to the large influx of porn bots and pornographic spam, users claiming to be proud to be pedophiles, blatant Nazism, racists who are not deleted for sending hate and harassing users, and more. I myself reported someone for harassing me, but because I had blocked the person and couldn’t access the messages where they harassed me, they were still able to send me anonymous asks. Your support staff, with back doors to the website (presumably), claimed they could not access the messages, and I was left SOL. Many features on this website do nothing to actually protect your users from harassment, racism, homophobia, transphobia, Nazis, pedophiles, predators, porn bots, and more.

You claim in your statement to us that you “have been working on these problems for a long time”. This is blatantly untrue. Please do not lie to us and patronize us. We’ve been here. We’ve seen you do nothing over, and over, and over again.

We complained to you for months and months about the rampant porn bots, and you did nothing except add a report button on mobile which only reported sensitive content or spam at best. You could have addressed this problem with an effective algorithm, but you did not. We complained to you about being harassed and sent hate speech for being LGBT+, and you did nothing. We complained to you about blogs being randomly deleted, and sometimes you’ve restored them, other times you have not. We complained to you that there were people proudly claiming to be “Minor Attracted Persons”, or pedophiles, and you did nothing. We complained to you about people proudly claiming to be white supremacists, and you did nothing. All of these things are “against the community guidelines”, and yet over and over, you have not found effective ways to handle these problems or suppress the feeling of welcome that these users claim to get here. You have had a long time to work on these problems, but you haven’t addressed them. To say you have is untrue.

Multiple other social networking websites, such as Wordpress, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and others have effectively dealt with rampant pornography, racism, pedophilia, and other problems without causing massive issues for their users who are not misusing the platform. They are continuing to find new, effective ways to deal with these issues without causing problems for their userbase as a whole.  There is no reason that you are unable to do this effectively other than that you wanted to do it quickly. You have once again chosen your stock holders over your users. And we have had enough.

You have already started to ban “Adult” content with a new algorithm. Here are screenshots of just a fraction of the posts you have flagged as containing adult content:

image
image
image
image
image
image
image

Your new system of simply tackling everything at once is not working. At all. And each of these screenshots is proof of your utter incompetence. None of these posts contain pornographic acts, “female nipples”, or any community violation of any kind.

We, the users, have been asking you for months to deal with these problems - particularly, the porn bots and bots that spam. In order to block a bot from a side blog, I have to do it manually, even though they are in my side blog’s feed. This is a huge issue for mobile - only users. They keep cropping up in droves, taking over our posts and tricking google into making it look like a legitimate blog linked to a pornographic website. We have complained to you for months and months now, and your solution to simply “ban all adult content” is ineffective. I agree that children should not be able to access pornography - but this is not how you tackle a porn bot problem. Your system is utterly useless, allows for racists, pedophiles, porn bots, and Nazis to remain untouched. It also harms sex workers and real people who may use this website for some forms of adult content responsibly. Moreover, as seen above, it harms plenty of users who have in no way violated your terms of service.

If you keep this up, you threaten your website and company as a whole. Many of us are backing up our blogs and planning places to go to.

You already have a content filter for “sensitive” content (content inappropriate for younger viewers). You could have improved this, instead of attacking your entire user base. It seems to be a very lazy “solution”, if you could call it one at all, and one that harms your entire userbase.

If you are going to keep this filter in place and make Tumblr, a website that has never been known for being family friendly and has never claimed to be, you are going to lose millions of your users. We are already planning our exodus. It isn’t hard to follow. Censor us, and we will go somewhere else. That is not a threat. It is a promise.

Sincerely,

The users of your website.

What IS dysphoria?

Okay, I’m really annoyed by people thinking dysphoria is only debilitating, obvious to self body hate so they must be non-dysphoric. First off, let’s define dysphoria: Sex dysphoria is a disconnect, dissociation, or other discomfort a person has with their sex and/or sex characteristics. It can present A LOT of different ways and be very subtle.

I’m compiling this list to help people see how confusing dysphoria really can be. If you’ve experienced dysphoria in a way that isn’t listed here, please say something to me and I’ll add it. You can read my person experience with my subtle dysphoria that was more obvious upon looking back: [Link]

Ways Dysphoria can present:

- [Unexplained] depression or anxiety.

- [Unexplained] anhedonia (inability to feel pleasure or joy)

- Phantom penis or breasts.

- Something feeling “off” or “wrong” in the mirror.

- Disliking being naked or seeing oneself naked.

- [Unexplained] anxiety or depression after orgasm or sexual contact.

- A physical anxiety-like feeling, especially when reminded of one’s sex.

- Desire to mutilate sex characteristics such as genitals or breasts.

- [Unexplained] irritability.

- [Unexplained] resentment for sex opposite of yours.

- Jealousy of the sex opposite of yours.

- Feeling uncomfortable, anxious, depressed, resentful, or jealous when people of the sex opposite to yours talk about sex-specific experiences.

- Stuffing pants/pushing in genitals from a young age and finding it gratifying.

- Extreme fear of or worse anxiety than normal towards puberty.

- Stuffing family member’s bras.

- Making phallic objects and pretending you have a penis.

- Taking sex toys and finding enjoyment out of pretending you have a penis.

- Taking every chance with delight to dress up as the opposite sex as a “joke”

- Extreme aversion to gender non-conformity, often times hyper masculinity/femininity to the point of being toxic.

- [Unexplained] general dissatisfaction when looking in the mirror, especially when naked.

- Avoidance to being naked.

- Avoidance to being seen naked by people who it’d normally be acceptable: (Significant others, doctors, etc.)

- Feeling “disconnected” or “Dissociated” from one’s body, especially sex characteristics.

- Feeling like you’re watching a movie through your eyes.

- EUPHORIA from transitioning, noticing changes, passing, or doing things reminiscent of the sex opposite of yours.

- Poor perception of time, days mashing together, time going by fast or slow, etc.

- Trouble with memory and/or focus.

- [Unexplained] Flat Affect: Dull emotions, dull facial expressions, dull expression in general.

- General apathy and indifference. .

- [ Unexplained] General dissatisfaction with life.

- [Unexplained] Dislike of sex and masturbation.

- [Unexplained] Discomfort with sex and masturbation.

- [Unexplained] Uncomfortable physical or emotional feelings or mood swings after orgasm, sex, or masturbation.

- Avoiding sex and masturbation despite wanting to partake in them to avoid uncomfortable feelings after.

- Feeling as if you’re putting on a performance.

- Feeling unable to relate to peers of your sex.

- Feeling more negative or personally hurt about homophobia directed at sex opposite of yours.

- Frequent daydreaming about being the opposite sex.

- Frequently making video game or original characters of the opposite sex.

- Feeling more uncomfortable than normal about hearing your voice played back on a device.

- Feeling uncomfortable in clothing that accentuates your sex characteristics, such as (FtM) women’s jeans making you appear more curvy.

- Feeling like your libido should be higher or lower, more like the opposite sex.

- Other issues or discomfort with sex or masturbation involving natal genitals, such as vaginismus or vestibulodynia.

- [Unexplained] Dissatisfaction or discomfort with height, feeling you should be taller or shorter/more like the opposite sex.

- [Unexplained] Strong connection to fictional characters of the opposite sex who you are not attracted to.

- [Unexplained] Feeling of not belonging or being out of place in social settings where everyone is the same sex as you.

- As a child, not feeling connected to peers of the same sex.

- [Unexplained] Extreme aversion to reproducing.

- [Unexplained] (MtF) Positive or euphoric feelings when thinking about being pregnant.

- (FtM) Using a strap on during sex feels more natural and enjoyable during sex, and (MtF) being penetrated feels more natural and enjoyable.

- [Unexplained] Discomfort or feeling of wrongness at the rate of muscle growth from working out.

- [Unexplained] Discomfort with fat distribution, especially below the waist.

- Thinking you’re doing something different from what you’re doing when expressing gender nonconformity. Like putting make-up on in front of the mirror as FTM = “Oh my god look at me I’m so faggy!” Building muscle at the gym as MTF = “I’m a strong woman! Subverting gender roles! Breaking the glass ceiling!” There’s dissociation between what you know is actually happening (you look gender conforming) and what you imagine you’re doing.

- Jealousy of trans people who have gotten certain surgeries done

- Difficulty forming connections with people, especially of the same sex.

- Difficulty expressing yourself.

- Unstable identity as an adult.

- General feeling that something about you is “off” or “different”.

- Switching clothing styles often due to unexplainable dissatisfaction.

- [Unexplained] dissatisfaction with overall appearance.

Thanks, for several suggestions, Trans-Mettaton! :)

THIS IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO EVERYTHING. Please send me suggestions and additions of your experiences or others you’ve heard and I will happily and anonymously add them, but right now I’m drawing a blank.

It’s also important to note while gender nonconformity is very common among trans people prior to transition, it is NOT inherently dysphoria or a sign of being trans. Gender nonconformity and disliking/being uncomfortable with gender roles, or your sex/sex characteristics being assigned a gender role, can mimic being trans and having sex dysphoria. The important distinction is that sex dysphoria has to do with SEX. So your physical body, anatomy, physiology, being seen and treated as the sex you want to transition to, etc. Gender roles have to do with behavior, perceptions, roles, presentation, etc.

Pretty much all of these examples can be caused by other things as well, so if you relate to a thing or two on this list it doesn’t necessarily mean dysphoria. If you relate to a lot of things on this list, you may want to seek guidance from a professional on figuring out why and how you can manage it. Remember, dysphoria can be caused by a lot of things, and not all people overall benefit from transition.

I hope this can help clear up what dysphoria really is so we can finally help questioning people better.

How do I make my masculine walk more feminine?

Chrissi says:

This is really an important part of transition for trans feminine folks, and one gender therapists seem to forget. Here’s some steps that should help.

Focus your weight into your hips. Cismales tend to walk with their weight in their arms or stomachs. Think of a model walking a runway — her steps are light and her shoulders are back.

Swing your hips as you step. While an overly enthusiastic swing will certainly be noticeable, most ciswomen walk with a subtle hip swing. Practice by walking around your home and exaggerating the swing, then tone it down when you hit the street.

Slow it down. If you observe ciswomen in a shop or casual setting, or searching for a shiny Charizard, that was stolen from them at school (not bitter), you will notice that they tend to browse and meander. It’s not uncommon for a ciswoman to walk like she’s on a mission, but mimicking these browsing habits can make you appear more feminine.

Swing your arms gently and point your elbows in toward your torso. A light swing comes off as feminine, and turning the elbows results in creating a smaller silhouette.

Relax your muscles and allow your body to move more fluidly. If you’re wearing a wig, ensure it is secured so you can move your head freely. Rigid posture will make you appear more manly than feminine. Don’t relax too much though, or you’ll be sitting down, and this helps no one.

I know you didn’t ask but here’s a bonus:

Tips on walking in heels, a lot struggle, even ciswomen, and Princess Leia..

POSTURE: Heels pitch weight forward, so for balance, keep your head up and shoulders back. Tightening your core will offset some of the pressure on your feet.

STEPS: Striding in a normal heel-to-toe motion can snap a stiletto or twist an ankle. Instead take short steps, going down evenly on the ball of the foot and heel. But remember heel-to-toe is the best way if you’re walking in sturdy heels.WEIGHT: As your weight shifts fully onto a foot, spread your toes in the shoe slightly; this will help to distribute the weight onto the ball of the foot. HIPS: When you’re feeling off-balance, you tend to stiffen up. For an easy, attractive momentum, let your hips swing in small, sideways, figure-eight motions.

These should help you appear more Kate Moss, and less Bambi on ice.

Much love
